It is absolutely amazing, you can spend a whole day in the museum. It has different sections of historical ages from all over the world. You can see many things from different civilizations. I loved the geology part. You can find brilliant minerals and stones. It is one of the best museum I have ever seen. Highly recommended to visit.

Clean and organized. Big and spacious museum. The dinosaur floor is a win for the kids and the most packed. In other floors/exhibits, Not so much of the Displays are so archaic but still worth a visit.. The artist's exhibition is also a nice one, they help in introducing promising artists. We enjoyed our visit. We enjoyed it. There’s so many things to see at the ROM. We had less than 2 hours before closing, and wish we had more time. Each floor is full of amazing artifacts! Very informative, quick lines to get in, and worth visiting - especially with the CITY PASS. We will be back!

I’ve been twice now and have had no regrets. what you miss the first round you can catch the second. We used the Toronto city pass which was well worth it price wise. We didn’t worry about parking because we walked from our accommodations. This place is HUGE with something for everyone. I loved all the exhibits on display, lots of information and a lot to look at. The human era was my favourite, I loved seeing the animals and the way things progressed through time. A lot of the skeletons are real or contain real fossils which is absolutely mind blowing. We didn’t eat here though the food options looked nice at the cafe. You are able to leave and come back the same day as many times as you want with your tickets which is great. I recommend 4 hours minimum if you’re someone who likes to digest what you see. There is a LOT. Loads of cultural historical pieces. It’s honestly like art work at times. We didn’t interact with staff at all as there was digital scanners for entry. It’s VERY clean. Highly recommend.

The ROM is World Class, all the way! Better then any of the Smithsonian in Washington DC. It is really a natural history and art & culture museum rolled into one! I only spent a few hours here, however you could come here for days and still be able to take in everything. I would recommend visiting the museum website in advance and prioritize what collections you want to see. Some rooms are going to be more busy then others based on the content. Lots of child friendly exhibits, ask the curators as to which ones are best suited for children. I bought the city pass in advance. NOTE: For the city pass the museum does require you to pick a day of visitation in advance. The city pass made it easy to access the museum. I recommend a visit to the geology collection. Some of the biggest geodes I have ever seen!

I have to be fair since the last museum I went to was The Met in NYC - ROM just isn't close to that but it is still worth visiting. I went on a Friday and went straight to the second level, I pretty much had the place to myself which was great. The animal area is simply underwhelming and a waste of space in my opinion, just a bunch of stuffed animals in cases? The dinosaurs were really impressive along with the Greek, Roman, Egyptian and Cyprus exhibits. I thought some of the European furniture displaying what you may have found in different eras to be really well done too. Don't think I'd rush back but it's a great way to spend 2-3hrs.

It was great! Lots of exhibits. Progress is being made at the First Peoples Gallery, but more can always be done. I appreciated the the ability to give feedback online, and the box to leave offerings of tobacco or other gifts. The other exhibits are stunning! I felt like a kid again going through the early life and dinosaur exhibits. I also learned a lot in the natural life areas. All the staff I (briefly) spoke with were extremely helpful and respectful. I can't wait to go back to see and learn more!

ROM has an amazing collection. Every section you go seems better than the previous. Even if you have specific interests you can't help but appreciate others. If one wants to take a glimpse at every exhibit it can easily take 3 hours to complete the museum. But if one really wants to examine and learn they can spend the whole day in one section

Really good experience and a must see museum. You can book your tickets online. Was really crowded (a Saturday). You will learn a lot about dinosaurs here. Didn't get a chance to see all of the exhibits, as the museum is so big with 4 floors plus the basement where u can see the history of cultures from around the world. I recommend going during week when it's less busy.

We went there on Sunday. It was busier than expected. A place to visit with family especially with Kids. It has three floors and should at least a day to complete visiting all the floors. The only reason I am giving 4 star is because it has a lot electronic displays that are not working. Finding parking space can be challenging, however it really close to the subway station so public transit can be a great option.

Got the opportunity to explore the big and amazing ROM for free on the occasion of Canada Day. All 3 floors filled with various artifacts and, sections starting from the first people to minerals. So much to explore and, learn that you easily spend a good 3 hrs atleast. I hear the exhibits are changed with time, so will surely be back to know more. Definitely would recommend if you are the kind who enjoys revisiting the glorious past to know more about the potential of the future. :)

Established on 16 April 1912 and opened on 19 March 1914, the museum has maintained close relations with the University of Toronto throughout its history, often sharing expertise and resources. The museum was under the direct control and management of the University of Toronto until 1968, when it became an independent Crown agency of the Government of Ontario.Today, the museum is Canada's largest field-research institution, with research and conservation activities around the world. With more than 6,000,000 items and 40 galleries, the museum's diverse collections of world culture and natural history contribute to its international reputation.[6] The museum contains a collection of dinosaurs, minerals and meteorites; Canadian, and European historical artifacts; as well as African, Near Eastern, and East Asian art. It houses the world's largest collection of fossils from the Burgess Shale with more than 150,000 specimens. The museum also contains an extensive collection of design and fine art, including clothing, interior, and product design, especially Art Deco.

Nice Museum but... It felt like the poor fossils were over crowded. While the stairways are huge, there seems be shortage of space for the fossils. Same for birds and insects! The gift shop had ZERO museum magnets!! How did you accomplish that? Staff doesn't know anything.. ask anyone anything and they will direct you to the front reception area. Kids enjoyed it as it was the #1 on list for my little paleontologist. But I wasn't impressed. Paid admission but not sure if the experience for worth it. Still giving a 5 stars because it made my boys very happy.

I recently visited the museum and was thoroughly impressed by the diverse range of historical collections from various countries. The museum's dedication to showcasing artifacts and exhibits from different cultures and time periods truly made it a unique and enriching experience. The attention to detail in the displays and the informative descriptions provided a comprehensive understanding of each collection. I particularly appreciated how the museum fostered cultural appreciation and understanding through its exhibits. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about different countries' histories all in one place. I highly recommend this museum to anyone interested in exploring Canadian history or Global heritage history.

Visited the Royal Ontario Museum with my husband, and it was an incredibly enjoyable experience. The exhibits were captivating, offering a fascinating journey through history and culture. The variety of artifacts and interactive displays made the visit both educational and entertaining. The museum's layout and organization were commendable, allowing us to explore seamlessly. We had a great time, and it's definitely a must-visit for anyone looking for an engaging cultural experience in Toronto.

If you have a few hours to check out a museum in TO this is well worth the time of you are into artifacts, culture and art. One of Canada's best museums ( haven't been to Ottawa museum). The Asian section with all the Shanxi Buddha were a treat to see. I didn't have time but there were free tours with volunteers around the museum. I really enjoyed the dino exhibit and geology. The building is comprised of an old building and new.

Nice 1/2 day excursion for visiting family or friends. Their Special exhibitions are priced on top of the ROM entry fee, but are typically worth it. Excellent shopping, well heeled people watching & a variety of dining options, just steps from the Museum entrance - so definitely skip the ROM basement Museum Cafe. Subpar

Beautiful building and property! Although the group was small, our museum guide Cal was extremely theatrical, professional and informative which brought the 1920s building to life! As foreigners, it was nice to also learn about some history of Toronto as well.

This museum is incredible! You could see numerous dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures from the seas with every detail. You could travel between different centuries and cultures just in one museum. I advise you to prepare some lunch to take with you, because you could spend at least 3 hours to see everything.

Such a great time at the ROM with my love. Lots of great exhibits with something for everybody. I wish they had a better eating area with more food options but out side of that this is a great place to spend 4-6 hours in Toronto. Thank you for the great time

I visited here yesterday, haven't been to this museum in a long while because I live out of town, but it was well worth the trip! I recommend buying tickets in advance. This museum has 4 floors, and offers something for everyone's taste in history, and culture. Beautiful exhibits, artifacts, and so much history preserved. My favorite galleries are Europe, ancient Greece, Rome, Evolution of Style, Earth's Treasures, Biodiversity Life in Crisis. I checked out the T-Rex Special Exhibition Gallery, and it was pretty cool learning about the Evolution of the T-Rex, and also its bloodlines. Great artifacts on display. I recommend you plan a whole day here if you want to see everything. They have a nice Cafe here, and a sitting area. The Cafe offers coffee, cakes, and other sweets. The staff were amazing, and knowledgeable when asked any questions. I highly recommend this establishment for a nice day out, to explore history, and culture's around the globe.

There just isn't enough time to see everything in one day... But it's worth the effort! One could literally spend a half day or more just on the bottom free area... And we practically did. The Chinese, Korean, and Japanese displays were AMAZING! The amount of Buddhist history contained here is just wonderful to take in. Some of our other family favorites were the free kids crafts, dinosaurs, the bat cave, and the Egyptian collection. General admission is definitely worth it just for the ancient civilizations collections on the third floor. We also did the special exhibit (T-Rex) and didn't find it worth the extra cost. The exhibit was alright but didn't really engage any of us (though there were some cool sculptures of T-Rex at various stages of life and even a baby tyrannosaur to see at the beginning of the exhibit). Unless you are a die hard dinosaur enthusiast, it can probably be safely skipped. The gift shop was also a bit of a let down as, though it's an incredibly nice looking and well kept gift shop, it didn't really have anything that is of the museum besides a few black shirts and hats that say ROM and nothing else (was looking for, perhaps, local photographers pictures of exhibits for sale, local artist renditions of the building or exhibits, or anything really that we could take home instead of random stuffed animals that didn't have anything to do with anything in the museum, random books, and random jewelry). The Egyptian collection is very well curated and the amount of wooden sculptures is staggering. The sarcophagus area is awe inspiring and the displays are beautifully built and house the pieces without distracting from them. All in all, the ROM is a must see in Toronto!

Had wonderfully experience visiting ROM It has lot of artifacts so would recommend time. I think I need to do two more visits to look at everything. This was my first visit, was mostly taking Quick Look. They have large cafeteria too if you are bringing your own food or can buy available items there. Audio guide is limited but does give context in places where it is available .

I had an incredible time exploring this museum! The diversity of exhibits was truly impressive. The sections on Chinese, Roman, and Korean civilizations provided a fascinating journey through history, with well-curated artifacts and informative displays. The collection of bird and animal specimens was a treat for nature enthusiasts, and the replication of dinosaur skeletons were a real highlight, taking me back to the prehistoric world. The museum staff were knowledgeable and eager to share insights. A great place for both history buffs and nature lovers. Highly recommended!

Amazing experience of visiting this grand museum. We spent our almost whole day here and still didn't feel like we finished seeing the whole museum. In a section there's a huge gold coin kept in a glass cabin, we took picture there. The gems and precious elements section was gorgeous. The history section was awe inspiring too. I also remember the intricate design on the huge dome at the center location there. There are good restroom facilities available. The entrance is grand and nice. The whole building has this strikingly unique architecture that we just can't miss noticing. Great experience overall. Thanks!!

Located in Southwest of Bloor Street West & Avenue Road. Easy access from Museum Subway Station. Million visitors loved Museum architecture that mixed with old valuable building with modern design. ROM running exhibitions around the year. Current exhibition is Florals, until February 15, 2021. ROM got big store to purchase lot of items. Enjoy your visit.

Beautiful place! I had heard about a children's event and decided to attend with my family. I was a little disappointed because they said on the post that there would be many activities but it turned out to be dull. Staff weren't there to monitor anything and the activities didn't really turn out to be anything. I did pay for the tour so we got to enjoy that but they shouldn't try to bring people in with false advertising.

Interesting. Spacious. Certain areas closed owing to Covid but still worth the money. The Gem exhibits and the animal exhibits are amazing. Mask is mandatory. Green P parking closest to the venue is at 7, Bedford Road, Toronto. Parking fee payable at the machine installed at the exit. Don't look for it at the parking premises or by the roadside.

Top quality museum with a solid selection of exhibits for both old and young alike. You can spend all day or just a few hours there. Highlights: Bat Cave, Dinosaur Exhibits, Egypt, and Ontario wildlife. Please note some areas are closed due to Covid though. We thought the bat cave would be closed but surprisingly it was open!

Must Go, Definitely. - Knowledgeable, friendly staff (Thanks to all of them) - Clean and neat - Good ventilation - Different areas you could get the ticket for (I got the general visit) - Lighting in African heritage hall needs attention, the windows and objects were not well lit. - Good food in the basement restaurant. - Multimedia material like audio descriptions were uploaded on sound cloud, and some on you tube and some had broken links, I believe as Toronto Royal Museum they could do a way much better job when it comes to multimedia especially in Covid era. - Don't take your kids there, unless you have a plan, they'll get board and will not let you and others enjoy the beauties there (love you kids☺️). What are you waiting for? Pay a visit.🤘🏻

Best museum in Canada, great place to learn, experience the beauty of nature, culture, history and animals for all ages. Prepare for a whole day stay and it could be overwhelming of info. Fun to compare development level between countries in the same centuries. Kids may not share the same interests as adults, so just let them enjoy what attracts them most. It would be a great idea to bring them here at least once a year so they could grow interests and knowledge as their bodies. Today's Great Whales show is an eye-opener, highly recommend.

Went there today and had an awesome time, many things to see and read about, I loved the statues and they have a wide selection of everything, animals and history and many more. We wanted to stay longer but they close early every day, I think opening till 5:30pm is not enough time, and we haven’t finished checking everything out! The other thing I wasn’t satisfied about is that some areas in the museum requires payment to enter, I mean we already paid a ticket at the entrance, which I think it’s ridiculous to charge us more. So for those reasons I gave it 4 stars. Despite that, I absolutely loved the European exhibit and the ancient Egypt as well, overall was a wonderful experience, I highly recommend it 👍

Really Informative. There is a lot of stuff and in one trip one can only visit all the exhibits very briefly, however, if some one is studying topics related to history, minerals, Egypt or Roman empires etc there are a lot of things to explore over here. Most of the part is super clean considering the amount of people visit everyday, however, some of the exhibit glass in ground floor were not properly cleaned from inside which caused blured photos, but overall mostly its super clean. The most fascinating for me was the Egyptian mummy.

The ROM is a must visit but not just once for everyone. Time set pré-purchase tickets made getting in very easy and the experience begins once you get past the friendly greeters. 3 floors of vast time line coverage to satisfy us all. Incredible displays and loads of information. Most all interactive kiosks were not accessible but that did not dampen the enjoyment at all.

One of Toronto's premiere attractions for locals and tourists. Nothing like the louvre or smithsonian museums or anything but has its own unique highlights like the largest pure gold coin in the world, and in the same exhibit a gorgeous unique blue sapphire. Special exhibits are in the basement usually. Ghosts include the former head of the museum and a pale lady in white in the European exhibit on the 3rd floor. Also a treat to get there by subway and get off at Museum station, the nicest station on the TTC system.

The ROM is an amazing place to go out and visit especially if you enjoy learning about the past. During this specific visit I was able to spend a lot of time in the Indigenous exhibit where I got to learn a lot of information. Favorites included the totem poles around the ROM and the well built canoes. There was so much that I wasn't able to touch during my visit today but there are a lot more exhibits to check out. I Definitely recommend you to come out here and visit.

A day well spent at the ROM, from the Dinosaurs display to the Bats cave, from learning about the ancient to modern history of the World. The museum is large with pretty nice interiors and well-displayed artifacts; my favourites were the Minerals and Precious stones section. The staff was also polite and helpful. One thing I would suggest is that they should increase the closing time from 5:30 to 7 PM. Overall it's a nice place to spend the day.

Large museum with a variety of things to look at and perfect for all age groups to visit. The museum has many levels of floors and each floor has a general theme such as dinosaurs, gems and more. There’s sometimes free tickets opportunities that are worth checking out. It does get pretty crowded on the weekend especially around the afternoon hours. I would advise getting tickets online as the entrance process is a lot smoother when done in advanced.

I have been to my fair share of museums, but this one was special because it was the first time seeing other cultures from a North American perspective. I was particularly interested in the African and South Asian collections. I did buy tickets for the T.rex exhibition, and it was amazing. The services provided in the building itself were also wonderful. Most of the displays were well done. I would however say that the location of the Asian and African collections were hard to find and rather disappointing in their diversity and setup. Apart from that, it was an excellent visit.

The Royal Ontario Museum offers a captivating blend of history, culture, and natural wonders. Its diverse exhibits cater to a wide range of interests, providing an enriching experience for visitors. The attention to detail in displays and the interactive elements enhance the learning journey. However, the sheer size of the museum may be overwhelming for some, requiring careful planning to fully appreciate its extensive collections. Overall, a must-visit for those seeking a well-rounded exploration of Ontario's rich past and global diversity.

I visited the museum for the third time today, and each visit continues to impress me. The galleries boast a professional and attractive design, particularly the section on the history of life on earth, featuring fossils, mollages, and remains of extinct animals and dinosaurs on the second floor. Accompanying each exhibit is a detailed explanation, catering to those with a keen interest in the subject. Another noteworthy hall introduces visitors to the native animals of North America, making the museum engaging for both adults and children. The appeal to younger audiences in natural spaces related to animals and the environment is evident. Beyond this, the museum showcases spectacular sections, ranging from the lifestyle and cultures of Europe and South America in past centuries to the evolution of weapons, armor, and iron armor throughout history. The ground floor dedicates a large section to unraveling the history and culture of ancient China. Venturing to the third floor, I discovered a captivating photo gallery featuring participants in a photography competition. The theme revolves around nature, the environment, and wildlife, and I was pleasantly surprised by the talent of some remarkably young photographers. The museum's staff deserves commendation for their politeness and ethical conduct, always ready to assist and guide visitors. Practical amenities such as restaurants, cafeterias, and a well-stocked gift shop add to the overall experience. The clean and hygienic toilets contribute to the comfort of the visit. Personally, being a member alleviates the need for tickets, but obtaining one upon entry is a straightforward option for those interested. Overall, my recurring visits reaffirm the museum's status as a captivating and well-managed cultural institution.

The exhibits are well maintained and well lit. Our visit was during the summer so it was fairly busy, but it didn't feel crowded. There's a wide variety of things to look at, you could spend quite a few hours looking at everything. It's a good experience for people of all ages, not just kids. It's located in a beautiful large building so you can enjoy the architecture inside and outside as well.

Same as always but special exhibits and a few of the regular areas are closed. Many of the touch screens were not operable. A very few of them had QR codes that visitors can scan for more information but the vast majority (like about 90%) did not which was a problem with a few of the exhibits because we didn't know what we were looking at. Still, the ROM is large and airy with many beautiful and extraordinary things to look at so worth the visit, especially with their 50% off ticket pricing. Not many things to do during shutdown due to COVID19 pandemic and the museum wasn't crowded.

Beautiful Museum. We actually had our wedding ceremony at the Museum. The sunroom is perfect for a small, intimate wedding. The exterior for wedding photos are just beautiful. However, due to the inclement weather we had (the random snowy week in November), we didn’t get a chance to take pictures outside. The events coordinator is truly amazing. She is prompt with response emails and listened to every concern we had. She also made it so we could take pictures inside. The event staff are professional, and very experienced! Our day went smoothly and we are absolutely in love with the pictures.

I've always heard of the Spadina Museum, but never had a chance to go until I stumbled upon it during Open Doors. Though I only had a small amount of time to explore, I did enjoy what it had to offer. It was nice to learn about local history and get a sense of what it was like to live in Toronto, during that time frame. I found the staff to be very friendly and quite knowledgeable, and happy to answer any questions I had. I was quite impressed that they had a good chunk of the original decor from the Austin Family. The house is restored to the 1920s time period, which make it great for an morning, or early afternoon stroll. The gardens in the spring/summer is also great to check out.

Spacious with extensive & impressive collections. Large exhibits of dinosaurs, Egyptian, Greco-Roman, Asian, European artifacts. Loved all the classic busts that you can get up close to & extensive collections of ordinary & every day artifacts that makes you feel more connected to the peoples that used them. What was stuff to them are now precious treasures to us. Spent 3 hours there today just before new covid lockdowns & snow kept crowds away so it was also peaceful.

Wow, what a museum! Having been to a lot of museums across Europe, Middle East and Asia, this one really stands out. Full of interesting insights and displays, without being overbearing or boring. The museum gives an awesome overview of a lot of world history. The exhibit on 3rd floor on the evolution of European style was a highlight, as well as the excellent Chinese exhibits on the ground floor. Great gift shop at the end as well

As a post-secondary student, Wednesday is the perfect day for ROM because of the free admission! It was a wonderful ride through the past as we walked through the themed exhibits. Always something you haven't seen or read in a museum. The ROM has some great exhibits and I was pleasantly surprised by the self guided audio tour with signs on the ground. The Egyptian and Roman sections are always a favorite. We spent 3 hours touring the extra exhibition on level 3 plus all the staple sections on that floor. We loved the period showrooms - felt like walking through Ikea but through Renaissance, Victorian and other eras. We didn't even make it to level 2 with dinosaurs and nature. Many of the exhibits and artifacts don't have enough lighting - so it's hard to see some of the valuable items. Overall, a great afternoon.

The Mummy exhibit was creative, informative and an overall delight. Using CT scans of the mummies to educate you on what was underneath the layers of linen, was an eye-opening experience. The covid19 protocols were in place and easy to follow. Having less people at the exhibit allowed you to linger a bit longer and appreciate the amazing world of mummies.

You can’t be disappointed if you go to the ROM. We went with our kids (twins 16 and 21). They went over and beyond to discover and rediscover everything. This museum is amazing. First for the architecture, one of a kind. Second, for the diversity of what we we can discover, whatever the age of the visitor. And last but not least, for the high quality of the exhibition. I highly recommend the ROM, for a minute, a date, a relaxed moments ouf of time or an afternoon with the family.

Amazing! It was a very educational experience. My personal favourite section was the one on Egypt. It had an actual mummy with the casing on display However, the sections on Rome, Greece and Art History were also stunning. The part about the architectural settings and its history across Europe in the 1500-1700 was very new for me. The shift to Baroque art was very well explained by the curator Some appealing exhibits from other sections include a 100kg gold coin, the largest cut gem of cerrusite. And of course don’t forget to visit that bat cave in the section on endangered species.

I personally loved the floor with the French art and displays, as well as the Greek statues. The line was definitely worth the wait. The architecture combined with the extensive biological and cultural displays made for a wonderful day trip. Was especially impressed with the crystal collection located on the second floor. Would recommend for families wanting to learn and explore as well as with friends and dates. So much to see at the Royal Ontario Museum! The architecture is also unique-combination of ancient and modern. Best way to experience it is to plan beforehand the exhibits you are going to see. If not, can be quite overwhelming. If going with children do not miss the bat cave! Take note there is free entry for the ground level floor for many months of the year. Went to Frightmare in the Falls in late October and *loved* the fact that ROM was advertising their horror-adjacent exhibits. Luckily got to visit right before New Year's. Every time we go it's a wonderful time. (Translated by Google) Great museum, big and with a nice collection, the Paleontology section is great, I spent a morning and only managed to see the first floor. If you like to know the history behind the objects, I recommend going early and spending the day, even so you risk missing a section. Inside you are allowed to take pictures of everything. There is a place to rest when your legs start to complain. The sections I liked the most were those of Paleontology, Egypt and Japan. The outside of the Museum is beautiful, the front is modern and on the side you can see the "mix" of the old building with the modern facade. TIP: Arrive early to take pictures, after a few hours the museum is full, especially near the dinosaurs. TIP 2: There are days when the Museum does promotions, visit their website to see. TIP 3: There are days when he closes early to promote parties on the premises, I didn't participate, but it seems to be quite fun.

This is Canada's largest museum, attracting more than 1 million visitors every year. The museum is huge (and very easy to get lost). There are 5 major galleries, one each for the fields of archaeology , geology, mineralogy, paleontology and zoology. Some highlights include dinosaur fossils (original and replica), mastodon fossil ?, a 100-kilogram (pure) gold coin ✨, world's largest cerussite gem ?, and many exhibitions that cover both Western and Eastern cultures, from ancient to modern age. There are guided tours every day from 11am-3pm, all are well worth to join (however, as the museum is too big, the tours can only cover a few main points!). ?️ An adult ticket costs $23. There's a free night per month, but the museum would be extremely packed, and with no tour at all - I found this negatively, and tremendously, affects the experience.

This museum is an amazing adventure for all ages! Not just bones and fossils, they transport you back in time and really help you visually see the different eras, giving you a better understand on how the world was millions of years ago. Modern displays, amazing murals and fun interactive stations all over. Make the trip! Is worth every moment! The Royal Ontario Museum is a great place to spend your time. There are many different exhibits from millions of years old dinosaurs fossils to very precious gems. Sometimes there are even special events that you can attend. All in all, this is an awesome place worthy of your time.

The ROM is an amazing museum. Each time you go, you find a new corner and learn something new. I get an annual pass each year which allows me and a guest entry. I love to go in the mornings on winter weekends, and get out before the large crowds arrive. The pass also provides coat check for my bags and coat, making the indoor walk enjoyable.

Professional helpful staff, nice collections especially Egyptian and Roman areas. Easily accessible and a good time had by all. Parking is available but can be costly so public transit and an option. Paper bracelets and available if one wants to get back after a quick stint outside.

What can I say. There's a lot to look at and do at the ROM. Level 2 is perhaps the best floor with lots of history behind the dinosaurs. See the plenty of photos that I snapped during my day there. While some of the exhibits were closed, there's a still a lot to see. What's nice is that there were hand sanitizer stations all over the place and a nursing station (great for new parents with a newborn).

The royal Ontario Museum is one of the main attractions in Toronto. A tourist and locals focal area and a must see. The museum is huge and have several levels for different types of exhibitions. There are some Chinese, Egyptians and South Asian sections for artifacts from those areas. Kids and adults alike love the Dinosaurs and ancient creatures from millions of years ago. I have been there more than once as one visit is not enough to cover all the Halls. The place is clean and tidy. A few years back there used to be some hours when the Museum would allow a free entry to some of its exhibitions. I am not sure if this available now though. It is located in the down town are so forget about driving just take public transportation or Uber.

One of my fave places to get créatively recharged. Staff are very helpful, both on site and online. I had to make an abrupt change to my visit and they helped me out a lot with being able to change or refund/rebook my visit. Being that accommodating on such short notice really made a great impression. As for the collection, it's quite good, a lot to see and more importantly, the dinosaurs are plentiful. Would love to see more new additions to the museum. I've been to other ones in the US and Europe and hoping that ours will continue to grow and expand to meet those same tiers.

I've been going here since I was a child, and my family had memberships for years. I love it here. It's peaceful, the perfect place to take photos, visit with friends and chat. And it's full of interesting exhibits, every single time I go. It's clean, the COVID precautions are good. My only sadness is that they closed the fashion exhibit, which was my favourite exhibit, no matter how small it was I always loved going.

  • 5/5 Alia A. 3 years ago on Google
We invested in a membership with my first kid and used this place as our go- hang out during my maternity leave for both kids. When I was off with both of them, I would load up the double stroller and bring them there so our then 3 year old could run around while the baby would come in and out of naps to nurse, and play. The feature exhibits have always been incredible and the biodiversity area has been a big hit with the kids. Now that they are 7 and 4 we still have our membership and finally get to explore exhibits longer. The cafe is great to buy lunch for adults and feed the kids their food. Only thing is the food itself isn’t amazing but it’s fine enough.

I had a great time visiting the ROM with my family recently. We really enjoyed the Mummies of Egypt exhibit, but were a bit concerned by how crowded it was given the current COVID-19 precautions. The rest of the museum was not crowded and felt very safe to visit.

The ROM is a COVID-19 rules enforced place that I felt was safe to visit, giving the few options we have right. I have been here a million times but still enjoy it every time. The new Mummies of Egypt exhibit is amazing. So much to see and learn. The new breakthroughs in science will show you mummies plus life (and death) in Egypt as you have never seen it before.

I always find the Chinese collection sets this museum apart. Have visited many times and the best description is quaint but it has definitely evolved and grown over the years. Kids enjoy the Bat Cave but it's not the best example I've seen. The trouble with these museums is that any examples of living species are no longer alive. It's unfortunate the new addition doesn't have more glass, but I suppose the budget & climate made this impossible. Museum subway stop. Pay parking lots nearby.

Had a good experience with my family here. However the 1 star off is the food at druxys was brutal and overpriced. Please send some health inspectors in there and change up the food. The food at casaloma in comparison was perfect ! The only other negative is the security guards are on you like a hawk when you have food outside the food court which I understand but there are too many of them and quite intimidating.

I had some reservations about the house itself (I had read a dreadfully dull book about the property), but I was absolutely blown away by the building and grounds. We had a bit of confusion when we arrived, as we had purchased a walking tour instead of the guided tour of the house, but they were able to accommodate us for a house tour as we had originally intended. Our guide Dave was super knowledgeable and had so many interesting little bits of information to share. We explored the grounds after our tour and took in the nice weather in the lush gardens and lawn. Thank you Dave and the rest of the museum team for turning our blunder into something pleasant and informative!

Excellent place to spend a day as a local or tourist. Their permanent collection is a wonderful gem to have in Toronto and their travelling exhibits are always really well curated and topical. The Old building is lovely while the new side is very ambitiously designed and a little bit of a maze, however the staff are always happy to direct you accordingly. I also have a soft spot for their massive cafeteria space in the basement for lunch.

ROM is one of the largest museums I have ever visited. It is spread over 5 levels, underground, ground, first, second and third. Pretty huge to cover in one single visit (ofcourse if you wish to read all the information about the collection), the museum hosts a pretty vast collection of age old fossils (this will remind you of Jurasic Park movie), Egyptian coffins (The Mummy) and asian artifacts. Geology and minerals department will surely remind you of Sheldon and/ or Amy Santiago. I personally liked this part. Not giving full stars just for one reason- the tour was very complex in terms of exploring various sections and areas of the museum (the map is not that useful on 1 and 2 levels). Rest, if you like seeing something you cannot own (these collectibles are pretty expensive to have), this is something you should not miss.

A museum for all tourists and people living in Toronto alike! It has so much to offer and is fun to explore. It took my family and I over 2 hours to look at all they had on display. It’s massive so I recommend going earlier in the day. It’s unique to Toronto and you should definitely pay it a visit if you can.

This is a nice museum. I went here while I was in Toronto and was satisfied with my experience. I walked into the museum and paid the admissions fee before going in. I then walked through the whole museum and looked at all of the exhibits, which were very informative. There was a children’s area, an exhibit about Chinese history, Canadian history, and other history stuff which was also pretty good. After I looked at all of the exhibits in the museum, I left, satisfied with my experience. I gave this museum five five stars because it has nice, informative exhibits.

The Royal Ontario Museum has a variety of wings catering to a large clientele. Depending on your interests, you can focus on art, natural history and/or world culture. It's hard to miss the Crystal, a building that was opened in 2007. Its angular modern architecture is an additional attraction that has probably managed to advertise the museum to a larger crowd.

(btw there is seating areas where you can sit if you’re tired because I assure you won’t finish looking at the whole museum but you will be tired)

Visited the ROM in August of last year. They had free admission for front line workers, so I took my family there for some summer time fun. The museum wasn't that packed then, we were able to access almost all of the exhibits on each floor. My favourite area was the Indigenous culture and community.

This is one of my favorite attractions in Toronto. It has an unbelievable collection of Asian culture, especially Chinese. I was also amazed by the dinosaur fossils exhibition. By far one of the best I've ever seen. The First People's gallery is AMAZING! Be sure to check out. Loved it!

Went here while on a business trip to do some site seeing during the weekend. Nice display of different cultures throughout time. Relative heavy focus on the classical civilizations: Mesopotamia, China, Egypt, Greece, Rome and Europe. Loved to exhibition on Native American culture. Liked the special exhibition about whales. Lay out not intuitive though. Loud children.

At first you'll notice that this museum boasts very unique architecture and a nice modern charm without being cold like some museums There's a great collection of fossils and the ROM has hosted some great exhibitions of various categories. It's most recent being in my opinion the 'Iris Van Herpen' retrospective, which for those, like I, that appreciate craftsmanship and design, it was absolutely fantastic and allowed visitors so close to some of couture's most technically advanced works and pieces unlike any other designer. If you're also a fan of Gemology, I always find the raw and eclectic range of gems extremely interesting 💎 LASTLY. TOP FLOOR. The Christianity department. WOW. MUST SEE. Always found it very quiet up there (visitors are probably exhausted after exploring everything else, but this is a MUST) ✝️ So if you're in the city I'd highly recommended a visit, and it's very child friendly too for those with kids 🚸🚸🚸 Enjoy ☺️

Spend a day in there, it's worth while. Nice to take the kids for a cultural walk. The natural history museum is very cool. There are dinosaurs! They allow you to leave to a break and return, so you can take lunch, relax and return to complete your visit.

There’s so many things to see at the ROM. We had less than 2 hours before closing, and wish we had more time. Each floor is full of amazing artifacts! Very informative, quick lines to get in, and worth visiting - especially with the CITY PASS. We will be back!

Lots of interesting things in the permanent collection that are worth seeing, dinosaurs, Egypt, Africa, animals, Rome, and so much more. It’s all worth seeing. Great place to bring a date or the family. There is a new gallery dedicated to the Dawn of Life which is worth the visit. They also have temporary exhibits that do cost more.

First thing is that for students, visits are free. Second, this place is huge. We couldn't manage to cover everyone within two hours. Pictures/videos are allowed which is really nice.

We planned 2 hours for the museum as the previous visitors suggested that time frame is enough to go around. But if you are a museum buff, I recommend you keep more hours. We were very tired when reached there. The museum would close at 5.30 pm, so we did not have much time as we would like. But museum is amazing. The architecture is amazing and the collection and knowledge it provides is humongous. A little tip, carry a water bottle.

Always a magical way to spend a few hours or an entire day. We checked out the new special exhibit on great whales and we walked around a few of the other exhibits as well. As a child I'd been many times, and this museum may be one of the only places I've been that doesn't get diminished by the passage of time. Totems still seem amazingly tall and impressive, animals are still vivid and lifelike, and the dinosaurs are as imposing and mind boggling as they were when I was young. If I lived in Toronto still, I'd be a member for sure.

  • 4/5 Shabhia A. 2 years ago on Google
The museum is nice but I like the one in NYC a lot better. Some of the exhibits cost extra and the tickets are pretty expensive. Jemstone hall was really nice.

  • 4/5 Nahid M. 2 years ago on Google
The museum is very rich in collection. I specially like the section displaying different types of stone, minerals and crystals. I've never seen such a display before. Attached one photo but it has much more than this image. One single visit is not sufficient to explore every item. I'll definitely visit once more. There was an offer on Presto user. I got 20% discount on ticket. The offer is ending soon.

I absolutely LOVED the ROM! What a fantastic museum, filled with so many different exhibits and displays from various parts of the world. It was very cool to see the work they’ve recently done on the 2nd floor in the biodiversity area, especially for the kids. I wish however that they would update the displays in the second floor’s European Wing to have artifacts and paintings be numbered (similar to how they had it in Greece/Egypt), so that everyone can get an idea of where each item is from. As well, it was so cool to see the downstairs part of the museum be turned into a wedding reception for that evening! Loved seeing the couple be able to take photos in the museum, too! Really beautiful! Please go, spend all day (you’ll need it) and enjoy! Lots of amazing things to see. If you’re a student bring your card as well, discounted rate applies!

  • 5/5 Cirrus S. 2 years ago on Google
You need more time for all exhibitions and collections than just one day. Museum is huge, but not overcrowded and there is so much to see. Many details, displays with interesting facts, touchscreens etc. You find there also cafe, canteen and gift shop. It’s nice place for kids as well.

What a museum and what a collection. The exhibits are just awesome. Anyone with an curiosity complex would live the place. Neately arranged and well preserved. I really liked the second floor exhibits “Dawn of life” and the Geology exhibit which had beautiful crystals and metallurgy displays was simple awe inspiring. Book the visit for at least 3-4 hours minimum, if you are into history and science. Was a wonderful visit and will be visiting again for sure. Also reservation needed in advance

There's so many interesting exhibits on display. Carefully curated. The bird collection is amazing. The setup of interiors from various generations make you wanna prop a seat and imagine yourself in those era. The Chinese exhibit truly transports you to the Central Kingdom of ancient times. Definitely will come back. Oh, the totem pole is mesmerizing.

Such a marvelous infrastructure. We went with our little one and we all loved the place. It has many interesting collections for every age. Major attractions for us were the dinosaurs, Mummy Tombs and real mummies on display. The museum is huge with 4 floors consisting various ancient collections from different parts of world. It will take around 1-2 hours for people who are not much interested in most of items but curious and history loving people can easily take 3-4 hours to cover every section in museum. Overall, it was a great experience.

It's an absolute delight for the art lovers. The exhibits were incredibly curated. The architecture blended harmoniously with the exhibits, creating a perfect synergy between the physical space and the treasures it held. The staff of the museum was readily available to show the directions. The accessibility features were also noteworthy for everyone to fully engage with the exhibits and enjoy the visit.

Mainly inspired by Chinese history and culture. You would find good explanations about things over there that can be helpful, even to have a better understanding of Chinese movies. If you are lucky, there is a a chance to see a tour leader to provide you some details about things. Dinosaurs' skeletons was the other thing that very inspiring to me. Different kinds of skeletons in different section of museum was meaningful. If you are about visiting the museum, buying a CITY PASS is recommended to see other places, as well.

We went on a weekday here and for all to know they gave free entry on every 3rd Tuesday of the month. No prior booking is needed but free entry is based on first come first serve basis on 3rd Tuesday of every month. Well it has amazing sections with various things from numerous geographical areas, it's very well kept and everybody will love sections from children to adults. Well connected to Public transport and it has a cafe too inside for snacks. Overall a recommended place in Toronto .to do thing in Toronto

Loved this museum! Could have gotten lost in it all day. The restrooms are clean, exhibits were spotless and endlessly entertaining. I wish I had more time to really look at everything closely, but ended up seeing everything within our four-five hour time frame just before it closed!

Royal Ontario Museum is a place for everyone who loves museums. You would need an entire day to see everything. There is one cafe on the Level 1 and a restaurant at B1. You would need to eat/drink something in between. Everything is well maintained. We saw that T-Rex too.

It's one of my absolute favorite places in Toronto! It's a must-see 💖💗 Washrooms on most if not all floors, Cafe on ground floor with lovely cakes, pastries, drinks and coffee. There is a water fountain if you have your water bottle. The ground floor exhibition is free at this time. The other floors require a ticket for access. It's best to buy your ticket ahead online. There is so much to see and enjoy: a rich array of history, art, and architecture 💕 The subway station is mere steps away from the ROM entrance. Great place for the family, friends, or even some quiet alone time.

  • 5/5 Sharmaine G. 9 months ago on Google
Very beautiful exhibits! Especially the beautiful artifacts of Ancient Egypt, South Asia, and Rome! The T-Rex Exhibition was also a very good addition in the museum, very interesting that dinosaurs may have had hair. Other than the busy and packed museum (it was Canada Day - Free admission), the experience was something to remember.

I went on a Saturday noon - Plenty of crowd but no queues for the ticket. Pre-book is not required but you can get a general ticket for 26$ at the museum. Lots to see and learn if you like history and geography and geology. Most of the interactive screens don't work. Set aside a good 2 hours 3 hours ideal to visit if you are history and geography nut. Otherwise 1.5 hours would suffice to skim through. Plenty of seating available through our the museum. There is small cafe and the ground floor. Cards accepted.

  • 5/5 Emily E. 9 months ago on Google
So much bigger than I thought from the outside. We explored for a few hours amd still didn't look at everything. There are multiple exhibits you have to pay extra for. The first floor of the museum is free and had a gorgeous collection for Chinese history during our visit.

The Royal Ontario Museum experience was very educational and thrilling. The Trex exhibit is worth the trip for all ages. It was interesting to see the videos of ROM archaeologists at work digging and finding fossils of dinosaurs. My favourite sections were paleontology and mining. There is a small cafe on ground floor. Take a coffee break when you feel like it. A canteen in the basement offers lunch and snacks. Tickets can be bought at entrance. But if you are visiting on a busy day, it's better to buy in advance.

  • 5/5 Zachary H. 9 months ago on Google
I went to ROM on a Friday morning just as they opened. The museum staff was helpful and almost knew exactly when you were about to ask a question because their answers were knowledgeable and what I needed to know. The exhibits were beautifully arranged. I had no issue guiding myself through each floor. I especially loved the 2nd floor exhibits with the many hundreds of animals and how humans have impacted their environments. With all the sad aspects of that reality, they are a responsible and caring organization by showing that all is not lost. Lastly, the museum does get a bit bust with groups of folks, young and old. It didn't bother me a bit. This museum deserves each and every patron's entry ticket cost, and then some.

Loved the richness and all the details exhibited in the museum! If you are with smaller kids, I would recommend bringing a cart and toys so they can sleep or rest in while you read through all the texts! It’s a sea of knowledge and fascinating discoveries! Kids loved the nature and animals section!

Easily one of the most amazing museums I’ve ever gone. Has 4 floors that more look like mazes, because the museum guides you through it and even walking there for more than 4 hours it wasn’t enough to see everything with complete focus. Definitely a must go when in Toronto.

  • 5/5 Aditya A. 8 months ago on Google
Royal Ontario Museum is an absolute treat and is one the locations that is included in the Toronto City Pass. The museum offers dinosaur fossils (some of them fully intact) and showcases a rich history of first signs of mammal life that eventually gave birth to humans. Spread over multiple floors that provide an engaging perspective into the war, art & culture, civilizations from the past, the furniture and ornaments from the 1920s and earlier, and good music. A must visit!

  • 5/5 Hitesh S. 7 months ago on Google
Best place in Toronto. They have lots of self-serve kiosks that can save your time getting your ticket. Usually they have some kind of discount based on your zip code. You can check that on the ROM website. They had the first nation exhibition which I liked a lot. Lots of native Indian artifacts and lots of information. They had a special dinosaur exhibition too for a limited time. Check what special exhibition they have before you go. They had other regular exhibitions like China, Egypt, Rome, Africa, India and Europe.

It's one of the must-visit places when touring Toronto. Here are its key features: 1. It's enjoyable for adults, but the second-floor dinosaur exhibit and kids' play area are perfect for children aged three and above. 2. The first floor is free, so if you're unsure whether your child will be interested, you can head there without buying tickets initially, and you can purchase them on-site. 3. With tickets in hand, you can go out and enter there again, allowing you to schedule flexibly, whether it's for lunch outside or inside. Personally, I was amazed by seeing the world's most clear Anomalocaris fossil!

We went there during the Tuesday open event. You can walk in anytime after 4:30pm. Good thing is they let you walk in and there is no queue buildup. We went up the floors from bottom up. But now when I think back, I would recommend going to the top most floor and working you way downward. That way you will encounter less crowd; unless you are into people watching - there was a ton of people who showed up on the free for all Tuesday. They have a restaurant with some pastries cake and coffee but it’s on the slightly expensive side. A small coffee costed 2.75$. Their pastries look good but they are not fresh. I would not recommend their cafe. Better cheaper food on the outside. The museum itself is amazing! It’s spacious. The artifacts are arranged and categorized properly. There is continent based artifacts like Egypt Rome, South Asia etc, one on bio diversity, extensive one on dinosaurs which was pretty cool. There was a bat cave that was one of the best experiences. Calling the museum huge is an understatement. I would suggest to take your time and take lots of rest. My eyes were tired by the time I completed floor 3 and exhausted. I skipped floor 4 and called it a day. ROM should do more of these free entry events like the AGO which does it weekly. If you can get off work on Tuesday, definitely would recommend visiting here. I parked on Wellesley street for 7$ from 4pm till 9pm. It’s a slight walk but parking is expensive near ROM.

Great place to take kids, or a date or even to explore for the heck of it. The curators do a great job of displaying great exhibits. Loads of information and items on display. Fossils, coins, pottery. They change the museum often so it's always a fresh experience. We go several times a year and it never gets boring. The food cafeteria is overpriced and they have a limited selection however it is much improved.

You can easily spend hours here. Four floors to discover and uncover the depths of millions of years. Interactive displays and informative plaques navigate you through the years of history. They have available to touch, the prehistoric bacteria rock that was formed before oxygen was present in the atmosphere. Excellent way to spend the whole day it was nothing short of incredible.

It's been a great experience visiting this place. Jackets inside is not required that much in winters so you might consider keeping at entrance for CAD3 or carry around. Every section is very well explained. Cover floor wise. Buying tickets was easy at the counter.

The museum fully preserves a Chinese tomb and artifacts from different dynasties, including remarkably rare intact murals. The second floor provides a detailed and comprehensive presentation of biodiversity and introduces the diverse animals in the natural world. It's well worth spending an entire day exploring.
