I would not recommend this hotel. For a "luxury hotel", you would expect to have proper customer service and amazing rooms. Upon arriving and checking in at the front desk, one of the receptionists already had an attitude. Prior to heading over to our room, we went to high tea. Although the ambiance was really nice, it was not worth the price. I’m sure there are better options. When we finally headed over to the suite, we noticed that the headboard of the bed, the floor by the table, and the chairs were covered in built-up dust. We also had issues with the air conditioning in our room, as it was extremely hot. We had contacted the front desk 3 times but he was no help, so we had to open our window for the night. For the amount of money that was spent at this place, we expected amazing customer service from the moment we stepped foot into the establishment until we left. I also didn’t appreciate management telling us that we should have booked a more expensive room to have had a better experience. My first visit to this hotel will also be my last

The staff at the hotel were rude. When we checked in they seemed disinterested in speaking with us. After check-in we noticed we didn't have enough sheets or towels so we called down to request more. They told us they were out of sheets but could bring some towels. We had to borrow sheets from other peoples rooms to make all of the beds. They also have a no outside food or beverage policy which is strange. Other than that, the building seems dated and in poor repair. The ambiance and decor is appropriate for the time period however the hotel is dark and musty. Most people who stayed for the weekend were stuffed up by the end of it. The bar and ballroom are quite a sight, and are worth trying. So is high tea. Just don't expect friendly service and I wouldn't recommend staying in one of their very pricey suites.

This review is specifically about high tea. What an extremely disappointing experience. To start I stood at the hostess stand for 10 minutes waiting for her to get off the phone to tell her I had a reservation. Then no one came to our table for half an hour. Finally, the server took our tea order, but that too took forever to arrive. Finally we had our tea and food. The best way I can describe the food is that it was like something you’d find at a funeral reception or on an airplane. I love tea foods normally but this was a miss. The bread was gummy, the scone tasted of sweet raw flour, the savory quiche was thrown on top of icing sugar, just all bad. To top it off the server tried to clear the table and dumped hot tea into my mothers lap in the process. He barely bothered to apologize and nothing came off the bill. With tax and tip was about 100 bucks per person. Save your money and skip it!!!

We didn't stay at this hotel, we actually came for High Tea and the experience could've been a lot better. It started with the hostess where she seated us a table that was already being occupied by another group. The server was very pushy about ordering quickly. The tea was very light and you couldn't really taste the flavor too well. The decor is nice and the atmosphere is what you expect for high tea. Overall, for the 8 of us the bill was just under $700.

We went for an afternoon tea experience. We were 5 of us and found the table to be very crowded to accommodate us all, which is why the rating is low. They could have accommodated on a bigger table or linked another table. The food was good, both savory and sweet, favourites were the scone, salmon sandwich, quiche, truffle, and tiramisu. Tea was mild, i had the tibetian tiger. Would come back but not with a bigger party.

What a disappointing stay. My new husband and I first toured the Windsor Arms Hotel when we were looking for wedding venues. We ultimately went with another venue (thankfully), but wanted to incorporate the Windsor Arms into our wedding week by using it to get ready the day of the wedding and staying there for a few nights following the wedding. One of the women at the front desk was outright rude and for no reason. Given that the hotel is marketed as a 5 star hotel, I expected better. The rooms were also dated, dingy and in need of an update. I called ahead of time to request stools so that myself and my bridesmaids could get our makeup done in the room-they were not in the room as promised. I called ahead of time to get a copy of the room service menu and was told it would be emailed to me-this was never done. I called ahead of time to ask about parking in the area and the front desk staff had no clue how to advise me. The only pleasant part about our stay were our interactions with a new employee named Dorian. Needless to say, we will not be returning and we encourage those considering the Windsor Arms to stay elsewhere as you will likely be disappointed (there are many other reviews here that are in line with ours-I wish we read them ahead of time). We came for dinner at Gatsby house. For 190$/pp, we were very disappointed with the entire experience from the team food offerings and quality to the decoration. The hospitality/service was nice though.

We, my daughter and I, attended your Christmas Dinner which was advertised as being in the Gatsby restaurant. Much to my surprise, it was held in a soulless banquet hall. Your staff proved to be incredibly pleasant but struggled to serve everyone. The meal was nothing short of awful. After 30 minutes of waiting at our table, the order was finally taken. Our wine arrived before our cocktail, our main course showed up before the appetizer and all of this cost over $400 for two people. I am not a highly critical and rarely complain but this meal, for the price, was nothing short of criminal. Shame on you for not disclosing that the meal was NOT in the Gatsby restaurant - a beautiful venue, and shame on you for attempting a Christmas dinner at all.

Our husbands booked mother's day high tea for my friend and I back in March. Then they get an email to say they changed it to Mother's Day brunch. They assumed they were not doing the high tea. Well they were. So they changed our reservation and then charged $50 more person. $135 each for a buffet with mediocre food at best. So disappointed. Would not recommend this place at all. So not worth the money. Would have loved the high tea! Complete rip off. Would not recommend.

Toronto does not offer many places for a more traditional high tea, I definitely understand the appeal of going here. There is a heritage element, you very much feel as though you’re stepping out of reality for a bit into a bygone era of luxury. Some great small touches included picking a tea pot based on the type of tea that you have selected, side tables to hold extra cups or plates, as well as lovely music at a great volume. The service itself was in our experience lovely, our server (Jordan?) I believe was very knowledgeable on all the food and teas, easily answering any questions we had in a thoughtful and professional way. Now for the food itself I found it completely underwhelming. The scones were very good, I would have a hard time justifying paying $85 for almost anything else that was served though. I think the menu is dated and also not thought out very well, it might be time to revisit and update the presentation of certain dishes and perhaps change a few. Many things tasted not quite the freshest, the milk bread served with the hummus was stale. The tea itself was excellent I had the Darjeeling. The rest of the hotel itself is a lovely historic haunt, I liked it a lot personally. However, they might want to consider bringing some aspects of their menu up to date.

Came here for high tea with my maid of honour as part of my wedding celebrations. It was overall a lovely experience; however I found most of the savoury bites were quite bland. The sweet bites were much better. It also would have been nice to have a heater for the tea as it did get quite cold and oversteeped for the duration of our visit. Service was friendly and attentive, and the venue is historic and beautiful!

The heritage. The kindness. The Prestige. Right in the downtown core near the most exclusive area in Toronto. I had the privilege of such an amazing suite for the cost better than any other luxury hotel. I recommend High tea. I highly recommend suite 301. Victoria their General Manager will treat you like family. The Owners are even kind enough to make your acquaintance. There is a reason the Windsor Arms has hosted celebrities from Elvis Presley to Politicians like Robert Kennedy. The infusion from great heritage to new technology. Every moment was incredible.

Came for Mother’s Day brunch for 135 per person. It was extremely underwhelming and seemed like zero thought was put into presentation or service. Very casually dressed Managers just stood by waiting for your payment never inquiring how the service or food was. I’m pretty sure the valet man was smoking directly outside the front doors of the hotel as well. Charging what they did for this brunch is embarrassing. You could tell other tables were unhappy as well. Also in this day in age with allergies your labels on food should have whether or not it has gluten, dairy, nuts, alcohol. Etc. I have seen better buffet set ups at 3 star hotels that offer complimentary breakfast.

We stayed at this hotel for a few days several years ago. It’s an old hotel but with good service. Our family decided to have afternoon tea here. Again, the service is very good. The waiter always attends to our service promptly. The food is good with big volume. The only problem is the napkin has holes on it. As it is a special day, they apply a special rate for the afternoon tea.

The only thing about this hotel that is "5 Stars" is the price. The carpets are stained, the furniture is chipped, and the caulking has rotted (pictures included). The walls are very thin and they regularly host events on the first floor. I stayed on the top floor (4th) and could clearly hear every sound from the wedding near the lobby. The music did not stop until well after midnight. The service is atrocious - I tried to order room service one morning, I called over 5 times over a 30 minute period and no one answered my call. They have you sign a contract when you check-in, it's full blown 2 page document that needs to be signed half a dozen times. Hidden in the fine print is that you're not permitted to bring in outside food or drink or risk a large fine. We had been travelling for 18 hours when we checked-in and missed this "rule". We walked in with some drinks later that afternoon and a strange man (who I guess worked there? He was not wearing any sort of uniform and did not introduce himself) accused us of violating our contract. I wasn't sure how to react so we went up to our room to discuss. Suddenly room cleaning, which hadn't been to our room all day, conveniently stopped by at 5pm - I'm sure to catch us with our "contraband". I expected a 5 star experience from a 5 star hotel with 5 star prices. I got much, much less than that. Spend your money somewhere else.

Location is the best part of the hotel as it’s close to the subway station. Far out from all action related stuff in TO (eaton centre, harbour front etc). Rooms are very dated and had an uncomfortable mattress. Had booked the sultan suite for 2 nights. An expensive hotel but very dated. Better off at other modern hotels. Receptionist wasn’t the most amicable one. The whole atmosphere is very English / British: this was a work trip so had to stay close by to my clients office, else wouldn’t choose this hotel.

Iv been to Windsor arms many times for events. On almost every occasion, you can bet you’ll hear the man in charge be verbally abusive to either the staff or venders. It’s disgusting to witness. No one stands up for themselves perhaps in fear of losing their job or contract. I have seen some reviews on staff. If that guy is the leader, it’s no surprise the staff, state of hotel is in the bad shape it is. Shame on you. If this undertaking is too much where you can’t be a decent human being, get out of there.

Came here for a bridal shower and was seated in a private room with eight other individuals. They had a lot of selection of teas and the iced teas were refreshing. Service was attentive and quick. The scones were on the drier end, and the desserts did not look appetizing. One of the petite fours tasted as if it had gone bad, the croissant was not flaky, tasted stale, and was crushed. We were able to pack it to go, but I wasn't a fan of the food.

Unfortunately Windsor Arms continues going down the hill. At one point it was a great 5 star hotel for high tea, dinner, place for friends to stay while visiting town. Now it looks like maybe a 3 star hotel. It looks dirty on the outside with cheap patio furniture in disrepair. The restaurant is empty and got a really bad red leather night club redesign. The food is overpriced and not very good. The pool looks in bad shape with knick knacks. I don't know if the ownership has changed from 10 years ago, but it's really too bad as this used to be an amazing Toronto gem.

AWFUL customer service. I stayed 2 nights out of my planned 3. After my son fell ill, I had to leave one day early. I notified the manager and he brushed me off. I contacted the manager Mateas repeatedly and he ignores me after leaving multiple message. Will definitely not stay here again. Very unprofessional, at least return my calls. Location downtown is nice.

My grandmother and I went to the Windsor Arms this past summer because it’s been on her bucket list to experience high-tea. The tea selection was massive and we were very happy with our choices. They have many caffeine free options which was great (I have a caffeine allergy). The food itself was very average. You’re not expecting a massive delicacy when you’re receiving snacks at tea, however they were all just bland. They were fine, but nothing to rave about. The service was FANTASTIC. There is valet parking and the man working there was great, helped my grandmother with her walker, and opened every door we needed open. Our tea server was very knowledgeable and gave us great recommendations and opinions on each tea. Overall, it’s a great experience if you want to try a high-tea.

Was very excited to go for High Tea at this luxury landmark hotel. What an expensive disappointing experience. The hostess were rude and disinterested, the tea room was crowded, disorganized and lacked the warmth or vibe you would expect from high tea. The wait staff were flustered, short staffed and didn’t work as a team or unit. My local Starbucks has a more welcoming and smoothly run experience. Don’t waste your time or money. For a real High Tea experience go to the King Edward or Royal York.

Stayed overnight and had an incredible experience. Very eclectic and historic build, friendly helpful staff and the food was amazing! A hotel that pays attention to detail and ensures a high end experience. Great location for shopping and restaurants.

An absolutely lovely and unique hotel: spacious rooms, excellent restaurant, delish included breakfast, etc. Plus, the day we arrived, we were invited to a cocktail hour hosted by the manager. What a gracious gentleman. The hotel is lucky to have brought him on board as we learned he arrived just a few months ago. Also, the server at the cocktail was a joy to converse with.

My husband found this place for my birthday to treat me to a spa day. Upon arrival, the doorman opened the door for me and I was greeted with smiles, I went to the desk to ask for directions and the woman gave me vague directions while staring at me like I was at the wrong place. Many thanks to the ladies who made my evening special at the spa, they treated me with respect and kindness, I received a prenatal massage and facial and my husband had a massage. Both women Ms. Rebecca and Ms. Natalie were great service providers and I can't wait to see them again soon. Leaving the hotel was a different experience for sure and I believe you are treated based on your appearance. No farewells from the staff, doorman didn't bother to open the door. Perhaps my expectations were too high but the hotel exudes luxury and I was expecting that whether I arrive in my work clothes or a ball gown. Spa service 5/5.

In the heart of financial district, this hotel has great vibe and service. Rooms are top notch. For a junior king suite with plenty of room. While I wasn't in the room much the bathroom and shower were fantastic for relaxing at the end of the day

The decor was beautiful, comfortable and elegant everywhere from the lobby to the pool to the rooms! The food and beverages are top quality. That being said, I was incredibly disappointed with the staff. At times they were rude and someone STOLE items from my room that I had accidentally left. When I called a day later to inquire about the items I was told housekeeping did not find anything when I know I left them there. I am still very disappointed to this day as those two items had sentimental value. They offered no additional help. Keep your valuables safe!!!

What a spectacular venue for an evening event. The space has soaring ceilings and the staff are all wonderful, caring and thoughtful. The food was excellent and the sound and space were perfect for the crowd of 200+ guests!

I did not stay at the hotel yet, but I called multiple times to speak to the front desk, so I am reviewing based on customer care for now. Each time I called, I was instantly connected with a staff member to help me out, and they went above and beyond to help answer my questions and sort out an issue I had with a third-party booking engine. If the rest of the establishment is run as well as their customer care, it's top notch!

The most dismissive ‘hospitality’ managers I’ve ever encountered. My mother and I went to the spa to use our Way Spa gift cards. The regular receptionist was absent, and the substitute did not know how to redeem the cards forcing us to pay their worth. I was later in contact with the hotel manager, Mr. De Campos who informed us that he could not redeem the gift cards or refund the money over the phone. Since we were not near the city and had already been inconvenienced to no fault of our own, we were invited to a complimentary high tea where the gift cards could be redeemed and refunded. Initially pleased with how this was handled by Mr. De Campos, I corresponded with him over email regarding a date to come in. Then…..nothing. Mr. De Campos simply stopped responding to emails and phone calls. This was back in August. I then spoke to someone at the hotel who suggested we forward our correspondence to Viktoria, the dining manager. I emailed her of the situation and again, no response. The deception and negligence of these managers is unheard of, especially in an industry which makes its living on treating clients with hospitality. If you’re looking for an assured, reputable experience, go as far away as you can from this place.

Lovely environment for afternoon tea. Staff helpful, parking was easy as gentlemen were standing outside to take cars away & bring them back promptly. The food was exallent from finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream & 2 kinds of jam, & lovely little dessert pieces to finish off. Many different teas were offered from white, green & original. A great experience.

I came here for high tea years ago and it was an amazing experience. I recently came back and it's now completely changed. The food was very stale and pre-made. It seemed like they made it early in the day and had it sitting out for hours. The bread was hard on the outside, but soggy on the inside from the sandwich fillings. Nothing was edible. The venue is beautiful and staff were nice but the food has to be improved.

Checked in for one night as an anniversary treat. Such a tremendous disappointment. The bathtub was filthy, the mattress sagged in the middle which gave me a sore back the next morning, and there was no hot water for a shower in the morning. Absolute waste of time and money.

  • 2/5 T S. 2 years ago on Google
Got high tea to go. Pretty packaging (boxes and bags used to pack everything up) but food quality was something you’d expect to get at a deli in a supermarket in a day-old sale section. Bread was dry on every sandwich. Sweets were fine but nothing worth noting. I’ve had much better parties and scones. Not what you’d expect from a fancy downtown hotel. Not worth the money.

We had our wedding at the Windsor Arms. The wedding ceremony was in the St. Thomas room and was beautiful. The staff are lovely and welcoming. The experience was wonderful and we had High Tea in our room on the last day which was so special. A special thanks to Mona Lisa from the Windsor Arms Spa. She in particular went above and beyond for me, my mum and sister. She does an amazing manicure and pedicure for my mom. Also on my wedding day I was heartbroken when I chipped my nail polish before picture taking time and Mona Lisa helped fix the nail for photos. Mona Lisa is talented and has a heart of gold but all the staff we met at the spa were excellent. Reba did a great job on my manicure, pedicure and massage. We will be back for sure :)

Me and my friend went to the tea room last week. I cannot even speak about how much we went through that day. I felt like I was a peasant when I arrived. I felt the staff was rude. The food at the tea room tasted like it was made three weeks ago. Both me and my friend got sick the same day. We both were so sick over the weekend and couldn’t eat. Someone had called me back and said they would try to support us, but they never called again. I would never ever go back to this place. Disgusted and disappointed are my two words!

We took our mom to the Tea Room here for her birthday. It was beautifully decorated, the tea selection was wonderful, and the food was delicious! Our server, Miran, was so kind, patient, pleasant, and charismatic. We had a fantastic time here and we would love to return for future celebrations!

Went for afternoon tea at the Windsor Arms Hotel and honestly, was not worth the price. The ambiance and tea itself were great, but the food that was served… not so much. The service was friendly and inviting though, the couch we sat in the purple room was dusty and stuffed up my nose. I read the reviews about the tea room prior to coming here, and please, please take them into account! My aunt mentioned that she had gone here a couple years back where the food was a lot more flavourful, and now the food is just meh… could definitely go elsewhere for the food. For $75/person on a Saturday afternoon… I guess nice for the experience, but wouldn’t go back as I’m sure there are other places in the city are better quality and worth the price, even if it were more expensive.

Had the pleasure of enjoying High Tea in the elegant Tea Room. The hotel's ambience and beautiful decor was magical. Every staff member was friendly and professional. Our server Miran was kind and professional. The catering team ensured that our dietary restictions were followed to the utmost detail. I highly recommend High Tea at the Windsor Arms Hotel.

High Tea review here. Everything was excellent. Tea was tasty with a nice selection. Little sweets and sandwiches while simple were delicious and well prepared. Service was friendly and relaxed. But the real feather in the cap here is the atmosphere/environment. We were sat in what I suppose is the main tea room which felt like a very refined, old world experience like something out of Mrs. Maisel or some other 20th century period piece. The other hotels offer high tea in a sort of new wave steak house lounge kind of decor, the Windsor arms is the old school. I want to bring my mom here, she would totally dig it.

Growing up in Toronto, I knew of the hotel and the elegance it provided. My husband and I visited Toronto this past week and were excited to be staying at this hotel. However, the stay was one that was definitely a disappointment. The suite that we were in was not clean, the faucets had soap still on them, there was red lipstick smeared on the frame of the bathroom. It looked like the room had been overlooked. We ordered room service for dinner and once again were greatly shocked at what we were presented. The food was at room temperature. Upon speaking with the front desk the next day (Carol) was more than disappointed to hear our concerns and had housekeeping clean the room under her guidance. However, when we spoke with the Manger (Victoria) and voiced our concerns, she committed to getting back to us in regard to the dinner later that evening. We never heard from her that evening and the next day at checkout was informed that she was not in. Carol from the front desk took our contact information and indicated that she would be speaking with Victoria when she came in later that day. Again, we have never heard from the Manager of this hotel. I must say, that the cost of staying at this hotel certainly did not provide us with the quality of service that one would expect from a first class hotel. We are greatly disappointed in the lack of response and stay.

Had afternoon tea with my sister to celebrate her birthday and I must say I was underwhelmed. Have been to several different venues for this and it just seemed that the room we were in was very small and crowded. The presentation was lovely, however some of the items on the tray were dry and had probably been sitting for quite a while. The staff was very pleasant and did try to make your stay special by being very attentive. It was very pricey.

Had a fabulous time at their high tea service in their tea room. The staff was very accommodating and kind, the presentation was lovely and the food was very tasty! It wasn’t the best high tea I’ve had to date (the Vanitea Room in Ottawa still has that honour), but the scones, savouries and sweets were all high quality and flavourful. Well worth the money spent on the occasion!

This marks my inaugural review for an establishment, and I felt compelled to share my experience at the Christmas Buffet. Despite the abundance of dishes, the festive spirit was notably lacking, limited to remnants of turkey and cranberry sauce. If I desired jerk chicken, pancakes, and maple syrup, I would have chosen a different venue. With a total cost of $166 per person, excluding drinks, the absence of any seasonal vegetables and the stuffing comprising large cubed white bread with dried cranberry left our party of seven thoroughly disappointed. This Christmas buffet was a significant letdown, catering poorly to the essence of a holiday dinner. I cannot emphasize enough how underwhelming our experience was. The staff service was excellent.

We had the most enchanting wedding at this stunning venue, where every detail met our expectations. The day was a fairytale, with the venue's beauty enhanced by soft lighting and exquisite decorations. Wentworth, our assigned service valet ensured we had a glass of champagne/old fashion in hand throughout the night, making sure we had an unforgettable time. Additionally, the complimentary cake provided during the rehearsal was a delightful surprise, adding to the overall experience. Neah, the venue coordinator, seamlessly worked with our wedding planner from rehearsal to the big day. Her professionalism and attention to detail ensured everything ran smoothly. On top of everything, the complimentary whiskey given to my husband on the wedding day was a thoughtful touch that he truly appreciated. The collaborative efforts of all made our celebration perfect, and we couldn't be happier. We give them a resounding five-star review and would recommend this venue to anyone looking for a magical wedding experience. We'll forever cherish the memories and wish to relive the day again.
