One of the best hostels I've stayed. The staff was so nice, particularly Robin. He carried my bag up the stairs for me and rearranged rooms to make my stay easier. Really good vibes/ people amongst the guests. Cute hostel dog Shadow. No hidden costs (lockers, luggage room for free). Really felt like home and worth the price. Highly recommend for solo travelers!

A great place to stay in Toronto for a short period of time. Everybody is nice, the staff is awesome, the breakfast great and the place really clean. Located next to Chinatown, at a walking distance from a market, and truly to everywhere if you are in shape... Just bring earplugs if you share a room, and... enjoy the roof in Summer! The owner will make barbecues (can't remember how often) with free burgers, so you can get to know people around you. You have several nice pubs around too. You can cook there and also clean your clothes.

This place is AMAZING!! First time in a hostel, and a (reluctant) solo traveller. I got a really warm welcome on arrival... young lady even carted my suitcase up the stairs for me!! All the staff are very friendly, helpful and happy to help with anything, including tram stops, places to visit etc. Rooms are spotless, (cleaned daily, as is the whole hostel). Beds are comfy and big. Showers are GREAT!! Breakfast is included and available till 1pm. Bagels, cereals, fresh fruit, tea/coffee etc. Location is fantastic. A great place, with a great vibe... I feel totally safe and totally chilled..... and their roof top is to die for!! You have made my stay in Toronto more than I could have hoped for. Thankyou. Definitely recommend with 10 stars!! 😊

The owner clearly cares about his guests. The hostel feels like a beloved family member, it’s so clean, organized and full of happy people, at least in my experience. Certified vibe. Pulled up 10pm, cute German girl helped me check in. They showed me around the place everyone super friendly. My room was nicer than i expected and the bathroom was cleaner than i expected as well. Great local T.O dickens literally 5 min walk open 24/hrs if you fly in late. After I got a late meal, I was able to meet some cool cats on the interior roof that’s separated from outside so it wasn’t freezing. Would definitely recommend to others

I stayed in an 8-pod bedroom. The beds were arranged in "wooden cubes" and the noise isolation is pretty good. There is a bathroom with a shower inside the bedroom, which is very convenient. The lockers are pretty spacious. The hostel provides free breakfast and the community kitchen is very cozy and it is very easy for you to get to know other guests in the community kitchen. The hostel is located in a pretty convenient location and it is a short walk from the subway station. You can also walk to museums and different downtown spots easily.

Planet Traveler is a good hostel. It's very clean and the staff are all quite nice. It's well-located near Kensington Market and several streetcar lines. It's just the right size; big enough to where you'll certainly meet plenty of other travelers, but not so big that you start to get that "weird hotel" vibe like some of the other new-school hostels I've been to. Free bagels etc at breakfast and a great rooftop area (with an enclosed room for all-year enjoyment). The lockers in the 6-bed dorms have the keys built in, so you don't need to bring a padlock. Only thing to remember is if you want something out of the fridge, you need to get it before midnight because that whole bottom floor locks!

My stay was a few weeks ago, but I really enjoyed my short stay at the Planet Traveler. This was only my second experience in a hostel, and I think it’ll be hard to beat. I stayed in a 6 bed female dorm, which was a new experience for me, but honestly I never felt unsafe or uncomfortable in the room. Everything was clean, the lockers were large and had outlets to keep devices safe, the bathrooms in the rooms were quite nice and super clean, and the staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable. They gave a tour to everyone checking in, which really helped me get acclimated, especially since my last hostel kind of just gave you a key and sent you on your way. The rooftop area is so cool! I wish I had more time to spend there so I could hang out up there some more. The views of Toronto’s skyline are fantastic from there. I attended Boozy Bingo and had a blast too. The hostel has a great location, it’s right on the edge of a super cool and quirky area called Kensington Market, which had a ton of great food options. I’ll definitely stay here again next time I visit Toronto! Oh, did I mention they have a hostel dog?? Shadow was so sweet!

I spent 2 weeks in the hostel and everything was perfect. All the staff was charming, kind, smiling and always available for everything and anything. The view from the rooftops is amazing! They plan activities each and every evening. I really appreciated my time there, they took a very good care of the guests! When I'll be back in Canada, if I have to go to Toronto, I'll definitely book a bed there! Thank you so much for everything!

Really great. The rooms and bathrooms are sparkling clean. Environmentally friendly and socially conscious - I loved the concept of repurposing forgotten toiletries and food, and organising donations. Super nice staff too. Also, walking distance from so many things (if you don’t mind 30min walk which I am happy to do to get my steps up).

This was a cool first experience of a hostel. We got a private room which was simple but comfortable. It was still a shared bathroom but everything was clean and roomy. There's no elevator so you get your steps in. The view from the roof was outstanding! The staff were also phenomenal. You could see the skyline of downtown quite well. They also had things to do every evening if you stuck around to chill. You could walk a few minutes and reach the streetcars which could get you anywhere you need to go. Would definitely recommend this place if you're in Toronto.

The was the worst hostel I have stayed at so far. I got a tour on my bday and when we got in the kitchen the host opened the drawer and we saw a couple roaches crawling. After I paid for my one night. After that I didn't feel comfortable staying there at all. I asked the manager for a refund he refused to give. Also with my car being broken into in their parking lot. So don't park your nice car their at all. He is a clown for a manger. They dont deserve even one star. Plz advise not stay here at all you might find bugs in your food. A reason they serve dinner sometimes. It looks nice but it's to good to be true. So don't get caught up on how nice this hostel looks. Customer service is everything and the manager has nun of it.

Decent area and clean hostel. Had more of a hotel vibe than a hostel though everyone was very quiet and kept to themselves mostly. I was in a room with 5 people and I'm pretty sure not a single person spoke for 4 days. I can see why it's highly reviewed because of the facilities, cleanliness and that crazy roof terrace but id prefer the hostel to put on some social events for quieter solo guests to meet others. If I came back to Toronto I would choose somewhere else honestly. My main negative would be the beds which had plastic on the mattress that made them insanely loud when anyone rolled over and the beds themselves were very squeaky so It disturbed everyone's sleep.

The worst customer service I've come across in the city. I've been trying to find places for a friend who is currently en route to Toronto and had a potential stay fall through. i informed the person on the call of the situation, but he kept trying to interrogate me to rule out if this inquiry is for me/someone else/ if they are from the GTA despite me clarifying everything at least twice. He goes on to say that my friend must be incapable of doing basic adult tasks cause i'm calling on his behalf. I clarified that the person i'm inquiring for is on a flight (can't make calls), and i'm merely shortlisting places to make it easier for him to navigate once he lands in Toronto. The call ended with him hanging up on me. Rude and no empathy at all. Disheartening to witness this early in the morning.

Coming from someone who has worked at a hostel, this is certainly one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in. Very friendly and helpful staff, very organized, super clean, lots of events for the guests, fantastic location, and an incredibly welcoming atmosphere. I would not hesitate to stay here again. My biggest regret upon leaving Toronto was that I wouldn’t be hanging out at this hostel anymore. What a wonderful place.

What can I say about Planet Traveller? Words probably. Hopefully relevant words in the right order. The atmosphere is homely and extremely pleasant thanks to the friendly and welcoming staff (inc. Shadow the dog). Communal events are run regularly such as pasta night on Saturdays (barbecue in the summer) and various other events that I sadly didn’t have time for during my stay. Breakfast is included in your booking, clothes washing facilities are available at a small charge and there was, at the time of my visit, an alarming quantity of free microwave popcorn. The dormitories have a clean and appealing en suite attached where you can shower your person, grind plant-flavoured abrasive paste into the shiny white bones in your mouth or simply stare into the black abyss of your reflection’s pupils and silently sob. Presumably. If one desired. If you don’t wish to have a solo existential crisis, you might be interested in the large common room on the ground floor. Pick a language and there’s probably someone there who’ll speak it (It’s generally best to pick a language that you can speak when starting a conversation though). Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Planet Traveller and would strongly recommend it. It has personality and it isn’t expensive.

Brilliant place! Having stayed across the world, I never thought the single best view from a hotel would be from the roof of a hostel, but this place takes the crown. We arrived late, but Alex was on hand to check us in and give us a tour of the hostel, as well as some useful information for some places that were still open. Breakfast is perfect if you want to fill up quickly before a long day out, or take time to chill downstairs with a bagel and a coffee. Nightly activities from movie nights to board games and bingo. They also sold Blue Jays tickets which is handy. We had a private room with a shared bathroom which was good. The room itself was quite basic but comfy enough. Shared bathroom worked well as its only two other rooms you're sharing with. Not been in a hostel for a while, if they were all like this I'd stay in more of them for sure!

Great hostel for Toronto, lovely rooftop view and amazing location right next to Kensington Market. Be prepared you might spend all your money there 😉 Staff were friendly. They helped a lot when I lost my phone on the TTC and having access to their computers in the lounge was a lifesaver. I wish the washrooms were a bit larger as they feel a bit tight, but they work. I wish there was a 4 person dorm room option for females, as 6 can sometimes get a bit hectic with the washroom if you want to shower or brush your teeth. There are lots of other washrooms if you just need the toilet, though. My personal light in my bunk didn't work, so make sure to check that and let the staff know. You can get towels here and change them at any time, so don't need to pack towels and save space in your luggage. Free breakfast is amazing, especially since it lasts from 7 am to 1pm. Some days I just had breakfast and lunch at the hostel to save money. They offer unlimited bagels, cereal, coffee and tea for breakfast. They have a dog that comes around in the morning who is super cute, but just be aware if you're scared of dogs or have allergies. Would rate 4.5 stars 🤩

This was my first time staying in a dorm .I was desparate finding a place to stay in Toronto as most of the hotels were booked.I came across this hostel and it turned out great. The bed and the bathroom were clean. Staff were nice and the atmosphere was great. The location is in middle of downtown and you can easily take a streetcar or simply walk.

Had a really excellent stay. (Private) room was comfy and clean and quiet. Everyone (staff and guests) was super friendly and helpful, and understanding when i arrived utterly exhausted and had to ask all the same questions three times. View from the roof is stunning. Location is good as a base to explore as well.

The location is great and the rooms were clean. Breakfast was provided and even had fresh fruit and milk. The beds have actual duvets instead of just thin throw blankets like a lot of hostels. The receptionists and other guests were friendly.

This was really a great stay for us and I think it’s one of the best hostels we’ve ever been! The staff is super friendly and helpful, the rooms are nice and clean, the rest rooms are clean and in a very good condition. Also all the additional facilities like laundry or kitchen are in a very good condition and you can see that the staff is really maintaining it very well. An additional plus is the rooftop bar where you can just relax in the evening with your own drinks and you can enjoy the skyline. And finally, also the location is a big plus due to it is directly located at beginning of Kensington Market. I would definitely always recommend this one.

Honestly the best and cleanest hostel I've ever stayed in. Awesome location. Bathroom is located in each 6-person dorm and is cleaned EVERY day. Free lockers provided in rooms, including a key. Free computers and Wi-Fi. Phones in private booths I think charged at call rate. Kitchen was actually clean all the time. Some free items available to use when cooking. Great views from the deck area. Events on each night and local events listed daily. Staff available to give help and directions. They had a special offer for a falls and winery day trip. If you get to the falls I'd also recommend going to the butterfly conservatory in the botanic gardens (15 mins on the bus loop there - free with the falls day pass). I think it was about $30 for a 2 day pass. We used ours one day then gave it away to other people at the hostel to use the next day. Don't stay anywhere else!!!

Cozy little hostel in the heart of Kensington Market. Super accessible by public transport and close to several restaurants and bars. Amazing views from the rooftop. The staff are really nice and helpful, there are events running everyday and it’s a great place to meet other travellers. Had a very pleasant week long stay and would definitely stay again when back in the 6ix.

This is a excellent hostel in China Town, Toronto, very well connected with both international as well as domestic airport.Rooms are small, but good, wash rooms are clean, the lobby is happening place, and the staff is superb, always ready to help in which ever way they can.Dowside breakfast is average,no lifts in the whole hostel, location excellent.

In Toronto this is "THE" place to stay. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Amenities are awesome. The place is cozy. They provide much more than rest of other hostels. They really take care of their guests genuinely. I advice everybody coming to Toronto to just be here. You wont regret.

Clean friendly and great location. 5 stars for accommodations BUT Breakfast is a no go... if you want a decent one expect to buy/ make your own...I've been spoiled by other hostels & expected that after a fellow traveler said they have good breakfast... cold cereals, Maxwell coffee, bagels, bananas, peanut butter and jam Is breakfast ...the good part is they set it out from 7am-1pm

Excellent. I'm loving it. A few things that they should improve: The shower's water temperature control and let some areas opened 24/7 (as the rooftop and other common areas). But is definitely a Hostel to stay!

It’s suitable for students and people who need the place for sleeping. Too much narrow room and a bathroom for 3 pairs. You have to take your bed’s sheets when you check out. Even though, stuffs’ behaviors and cleanliness were excellent!! You can beautiful night scene from the roof floor. I can recommend to stay here if you don’t care about what I mentioned.

I've stayed in 100+ hostels over the last 15 years, and I found this one excellent. Clean facilities, efficient dorm layout for privacy and quiet, rooftop bar/patio with excellent view of the city, friendly staff, daily activities, free computer use, free local phones with private booths, free Netflix, and free popcorn! Much recommended.

Stayed in August 2019. Fantastic hostel! I had such a blast here and made several friends who I still regularly keep in contact with a year later. The staff are great and very attentive to your needs. There are social events nearly every day so even if you're traveling solo and need to meet new people to hang out with, this is a very easy place to do that. Also, one of the most beautiful rooftop patios I've ever seen while staying somewhere. Only drawback was it was still a good 20 minute walk from the closest subway station, but street car and bus stops were very nearby, so it ended up not being an issue and the surrounding area is pretty walk-able anyway. I was worried they'd go down under because of Covid-19 but I recently heard they're opening back up soon and still in business, so the next time I get to travel to Toronto again, I definitely know where I'll be staying!

(Translated by Google) It is an excellent hostel, very clean and the staff is incredible. They are all extremely friendly and help you in any way they can, there are some rules that you have to follow, such as washing the dishes or glasses that you use, but I think it's fine because they all do the same. The day we handed over the room they kept our bags and we were able to collect them at the time we wanted. It is very accessible both by tram and metro and although the private room for two was a bit small, I felt comfortable. Breakfast consists of cereals and breads. They do activities on the terrace that changes depending on the day and the common areas are very comfortable and beautiful. Something I loved is that they accept Canadian $ 100 bills. That was a great help since not all places accept them. Would definitely return.

The Planet Travaler Hostel is an amazing place! The bedrooms are clean and comfortable. All the bedrooms have a private bathroom and lockers. Staff were helpful and friendly (especially Harry!) They also have cool events every day such as free pasta dinner, karaoke, movie nights etc. I would definitely stay here again!! The only downside is it's not accessible if you're not able-bodied (there's no elevator, only stairs).

The hostel is very clean at anytime of the day which is pretty good for a hostel. I’ve stayed in a 6 shared bedroom, it has its own bathroom (toilet+shower), the room is a little bit small in my opinion if 6 people have a huge suitcase but anyway, my 2 nights were good there, friendly staff, nice kitchen, good breakfast from 7am to 1pm (large breakfast time). Very close to the tram, easy to join

WARNING - the only way you can book the cheaper rates is with a CREDIT CARD - no visa/mc debit cards are accepted> and you cannot call in and make a payment either. HOSTEL WORLD APP will let you book it with a visa debit but you better have a credit card immediately available to pay them or they cancel your booking 5 stars for the place 3 stars for the fact that you cannot book the cheaper rate without a credit card - not worth it for me to get a credit card for one hostel

The hostel was very clean, the staff was friendly, and overall I had good experience. It is a good place to meet travellers, thanks to the daily activities provided. The rooftop offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Toronto skyline. But some things could be improved: the bunk beds are uncomfortable and noisy, and the common rooms are locked from midnight to 7 AM. Had to rush to check out in the morning to not miss my train...

I really recommand to stay in this hostel to everyone who wants to visit Toronto. First, the staff is really nice and helpful! They take care a lot about the place, and the room was very clean every day. Free breakfast also! Second, the location is just perfect! In Kensington, you can just go everywhere by walk or with public transport. You can also ask the team to rent a bike, for a good price. And they have a car park. And the +++ is the rooftop with the view on the skyline ! Absolutely amazing. Thank you guys!!

Best hostel in Toronto, clean, friendly, showers/bathrooms are much cleaner than other hostels. Nice rooftop view and a weekly evening bbq. Lockers in room have electrical plugs. Price is slightly higher than other hostels and worth it.

They do not allow to reserve beds to more than 6 people, even if they are made in separate reservations. The staff was really rude through the telephone and he threatened us of not returning the money if we appeared in the check-in together. They did not make any clear explanation about why we could not book for more than 6 people.

Very friendly staff and super clean hotel located close to Chinatown and walking distance to CN tower. Fully recommend. Breakfast until 1 PM. Free WiFi throughout the property. Also, great views :).

The Planet Travel hostel is an amazing hostel! The facility is super clean and the staff are super welcoming. They have breakfast until 1pm with cereals, breads, and bagels. They have a full kitchen and laundry facility for guests to use. They have a common area on the main floor adjacent to the kitchen as well as another one on the roof. From the roof top patio you have a view of the downtown skyline. They have nightly activities to meet other guests. The dorm beds are very comfortable and well built so they are quiet when someone gets on the top bunk. Also they have a limited number of parking spaces adjacent to the hostel for $10 a night. The hostel is located on a street car line and there are many restaurants and bars near by.

Tried to book a room, no one answered or returned call. Fairly priced, good location. I'd try again.

Perfect stay I have to admit. It offers much more as a standard hostel. Rooms are nice but beds are only okay. Bathroom is clean if the people that share it keep their dirt out of it. Breakfast is good and all you can eat. Would stay again! Rooftop is also usable for nice views

Excellent rooftop patio with a great view of the skyline. Great common spaces conducive to socializing with other travelers. Was great as a solo traveler, met many great people. The staff were excellent, Natasha in particular. This should be the gold standard for what the hostel experience has to offer!

Such a great hostel. Staff were so lovely and always happy to help. There were socials every night so it was easy to meet people. They are held on the rooftop terrace which has amazing views and is a great space to chat with people or hang out on your own. The facilities were also excellent with things like free towels, luggage storage, breakfast until 1pm. It is in a great location next to Kensington market. Only a cheap 10 minute tram or 30 minute walk to the downtown area. Had a great time in Toronto staying here :) TLDR: the hostel has a puppy. So stay there.

Nice hostel with a great rooftop area. My only criticism is that in the pod rooms (mine was room 11) the beds are extremely creaky and you can hear when anyone moves a millimetre. If you're in one of these rooms, bring earplugs. Edit: I spoke to management; they were very courteous and said they were looking into how to rectify the issue.

It's a great hostel. The infraestructure is very modern, the beds are comfortable, each dorm has its own washroom. The breakfast is very good. They also organize activities every day which makes it easier to meet people.

Amazing location, good & friendly staff, you'll meet some interesting travelers here, breakfast is included in the cost which is a great value add, roof top is amazing, the hostel organizes some fun activities throughout the week. Overall it's a nice place to stay if you're visiting Toronto for a few days or need a place to unwind, good vibes!!

Really enjoyed my stay here!!! The staff is amazing and are very welcoming! The rooms and bathrooms are cleaned on the daily. On our first day, we had BBQ night!!!! We were steps away from markets, bars and restaurants. I would definitely come back

This was an amazing hostel! Such a warm and friendly atmosphere from both the staff and the others staying there. The rooftop is a great place to hang out during the day and watch the sunset. The hostel also hosts social events which means we could really get to make friends :)

Amazing staff so very friendly & helpful. Shadow the dog is such a delight to have around, beautiful boy. Hostel is very clean & beds are comfy. Well equipped kitchen, with a free breakfast, huge range of cereals & bagels. Close to street car station & also to loads of eating places. Fantastic views of the city from the rooftop area. Excellent location, highly recommend this hostel.

Friendly staff, good location. It was second time back in Toronto after three years. It's second Hostel I stayed in Toronto. They give you a nice tour after check you in. Unlike other Hostels they serve breakfast until 1pm. So you have lots of time to sleep if your out socially in the late evening. Met a lot of Great people from other countries. They were all friendly. As for the rooms they were alright no complains. I requested a Bottom but not guaranteed. However, they said the Bottom bed was still vacant after I checked in for 15 mins I can have it. That was generous of them. They were very helpful with all the Historical locations in Toronto. Because of them made my second visit to Toronto a better one. I highly recommend.

Great hostel! Canada isn't big on hostels like Europe or Asia but this one is great! It's clean, full kitchen, secure and great location. The 6 bed female dorm had an en-suite. They have a activities on most nights. Common areas are on the small side but they've arranged it so well: couches, 2 computers, 2 dining tables and 2-3 phone booths (nice for a private call or something). They also have a rooftop, books and games.

Pros: - Updated facilities, including nice bathrooms and private rooms. - Close to streetcar stops and rest of city. - Very kind and helpful staff. - Rooftop terrace gives an incredible view. - Nightly events like trivia and pub crawls. - Sense of community. Cons: - A bit limited for space in halls and bathrooms etc. - I think there's no elevator so it's inaccessible for some people. I would reccomend 👍

Booked my stay on a whim and I was blown away. Never stayed in a hostel before but I’ll be sure to come back if I’m in Toronto again. Great staff, great facilities, a lot of cool people traveling through, and nightly activities to help break the ice. Lockers provided with your room, parking right outside (a little bit extra), and a full kitchen with cookware and plates if you’d prefer to eat in. Tell Shadow I said Hi 👋🏼

Had a lovely stay here over break! Very clean and everyone was so considerate, quiet in the rooms and cheerful in the public space. I had to leave earlier than what I booked, but the hostel was kind enough to refund the nights I didn’t stay. Incredible hostel experience that made my traveling journey all the better.

I mean, for less than 100 bucks, you have to! If you aren't into dorms and sharing spaces and really want privacy, this place isn't for you. But if you want to meet amazing people from around the world and be hosted by some of the nicest people in the city, this place is for you! It's clean, central, well desgined and the rooftop view is worth the admission itself. They have fun themed events, a breakfast and area to cook your own food. The beds even have a lamp and plug to charge your stuff and a holder for your phone on your bunk. Can you tell we had fun and would recommend? If you are a hostel person, this is the place for you!

Almost in tears when I had to leave this place on the last day! I had such a fantastic experience. Of course, the facilities are top notch, the hygiene is spectacular, the kitchen is superbly equipped and the location is just the best it ever could be. But more than that, every passionate soul who works here is committed to giving guests an unforgettable experience! Do look forward to the daily activities organized by them. And experience the warmth that they add to your travels with their helpful nature, friendly banter and glowing smiles! Taking back the best of memories and friends from this place. And shall be back again, for sure! Thank you Natasha, Robin, Rozenn, Alex, and everyone else whom I may not have interacted much with but played their role in making my stay a fantastic experience. And of course, lots of love to Shadow!

My friend and I stayed at Planet Traveler for Memorial Day weekend. It was one of the best trips I’ve taken and it was mostly because of this wonderful hostel. It was my first time staying at a hostel, so I had no clue what to expect. When we walked in, we were greeted by friendly staff who gave us a great tour of the hostel and it’s amenities. The rooftop is a gem and great for pictures with the cityscape in the background. My most favorite thing about this hostel is the almost immediate sense of community. I’ve always been pretty shy, but I love meeting new people. The hostel has group activities each night so you can get to know everyone. Bingo night was a blast. I enjoyed meeting people from all over the world. Everyone was friendly and respectful, we had no issues at all. World peace exists at Planet Traveler. I also loved the affordable room prices, free breakfast, the doggy, the on site parking, the location, the storage lockers with outlets, and that each dorm has a bathroom. I cannot wait to visit again! Thank you Planet Traveler.

Excellent location, service and social events every evening. Very clean and a good breakfast is included and the kitchen is almost fully equipped (no oven!). Affordable if you book early, but more on the pricy side with 83$ per night now. The only negative was the squeaky bed, asked the staff for equipment to fix it. Was told to let them fix which they didn't

Great experience! We stayed in a private room which shared a bathroom with 3 other private rooms but in the rare moment it was full, there were tons of bathrooms elsewhere. Rooftop with great views and nightly social events. Breakfast was yummy breads and cereals free and til early afternoon. Being right off Kensington was a huge plus. Only some things to flag if it’ll be an issue: dog wandering lobby (friendly and chill), rooms up to 3 stories, no elevator. No wifi reaching our room but standing right outside our door it worked fine. Not a problem for us!

Great hostel for travelers of all kinds. I came to visit Toronto for a few days alone. This was a great location - walking distance to China town, museums, stores and convenient public transport. Staff was awesome and the hostel activities were a great way to meet people! I felt very safe. I stayed in the pods and the female dorm I recommend the pods - less noisy and more privacy compared to the metal bunk beds in the dorm. Both were great though!

I loved my stay here(2 nights, wed-fri in a 8 person mixed pod room). Cleanly, comfortable common areas, outdoor rooftop deck a plus, indoor air conditioned seating area to still enjoy the rooftop in bad/hot weather. The nightly social events are a really nice touch and convenient, do not miss the pub crawl we had so much fun. My favorite part about this stay was the LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION really easy to commute to/around this area. 1 block from Kensington Market, and plenty of food options on the same street of the hostel. 2 complaints, in the 8 person pod room there's only 1 bathroom in the room with the shared half bath on the floor. With 8 adults it can be over an hour wait for bathroom/shower access. Yes I've stayed in hostels before but usually I've seen where the toilet/shower and sink are separate so 1 person doesn't lock up the entire bathroom while only showering or using the toilet. Each floor has about 5/6 rooms ranging from 4-8 beds each I believe so the one shared half bath on our floor is almost always in use and your key card only gives you access to your floor. Also, in the pod rooms there isn't a locker locker like the small lockers in the non-pod rooms, it's a cube locker cubby sort that can fit a small purse and other small valuables. I had no issues with stuff going missing my entire room ppl left stuff out but everyone may not feel this way. And the with the actual pod itself I loved sleeping in it BUT I hate the access, like needing to climb fully in to reach something in the cubby/shelf while I was fully dressed. Not very hygiene to be crawling all over bedsheets in outside clothes, not a complaint more of an annoyance. I would definitely stay here again.

Great hostel. Super clean, breakfast is included (and goes on until 1pm!), friendly staff and programming, all in a convenient location. Highly recommend.

Great hostel, nice staff, everything was clean and organized. Bathroom was great. The only negative comment would be that there was a dense plastic layer in the bed that made me sleep uncomfortable. Other than that I highly recommend it.

The Planet Traveler Hostel has a lot of things going for it. The value really can't be beat. Toronto is a very expensive city for lodging, but the prices here are very reasonable. I stayed 3 nights in a room with pod-style beds. Given the comfort limitations of pod sleeping versus a traditional hotel room, it was as comfortable as it could have been. I needed to pad my pillow a bit, but it worked great after that (you may want to bring your own). Everyone else staying in the room was quiet and respectful of the others staying there. The room had a thermostat and big lockers, free of charge (I was nearly able to fit my entire suitcase in the locker). The location of the hostel is excellent. It's very walkable and close to public transit. I ate delicious Middle Eastern food 3 times, at 3 different spots, all within a 1 minute walk. I also stumbled upon a cool book/music shop just across the street. The rooftop patio and view were great. I enjoyed the staff, all friendly and helpful. I hung out a lot in the lobby, on the huge couch, while people came and went. Customers checking in or with questions were taken care of quickly. The hostel had an event every evening. The breakfast options were plentiful. For as "no frills" as it is, the extras such as events and the complimentary breakfast were very nice. Lastly, the hostel seemed to be reasonably eco-conscious without going overboard. I'll be back, and I'd recommend it!

this is a great hostel. i've stayed in a lot of places. these guys are helpful, friendly, and the right amount of social. it's not quit forced but it's almost default to be a little social. having a late all you can eat breakfast really helps and encourages chatting. the communal space is big enough but not too big. the location is ideal. it's a great place. Toronto is just expensive therefore so is this compared to other cities. but it's good value for Toronto!

We had a private room with a bathroom shared with three others rooms like ours. The room was good, clean, not much space for our stuff but for three nights it was alright. Rooms were calm but there were many people to meet on the rooftop and kitchen. Many activities proposed by the staff. Breakfast included with lots of choice. Free coffee all day. Overall that was a super experience. It’s easy to get to the hotel once you understand how Toronto bus service works (tramways are mixed with normal traffic and stops are in the middle of the road ??? We were not used to this)

Stayed a few years ago, the place is a great location, had my boots stolen from my bag and found them in someone else bag. Staff did nothing so confronted the individual and took them back. Please get a locker. Ear plugs are a must here if your a light sleeper. Overall not bad at all bit of a mixed experience

I've stayed there twice and I think it's a great place. Perfect location, clean, friendly staff, cute rooftop with a nice view and fully equipped kitchen. Bunk beds are not very firm and kind of noisy but besides this, is a 5 star hostel for me.
