Worst and most expensive Hotel I've ever been, stay away from this place. $200 CAD for one night in a 2x2m room with shared bathroom. Had to book here because I arrived late at Toronto, all hotels around that area were full, but sincerely I would rather stayed at the airport and sleep seated. At the reception was mandatory to get my credit card scanned, had no choice. The room was awful, tiny, with no openings to outside air, noisy AC, sticky floor and the sheets smelled like vomit. The day after leave that nasty place I got an allergic reaction in the skin. You will find homeless people around the place because there's a drug addict centre nearby.

The bad reviews made me nervous. I didn’t read them until after I booked. Almost just took the L and booked another place since this place is non refundable. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The place is old, outdated, and boring. But it’s safe, clean, and the rooms aren’t bad. I’d stay here again. My room had a bathroom in it. I never used the kitchen so not sure how that is, but the room was clean. The bedding was clean. The window AC unit worked. Nothing to complain about. The rooms aren’t pretty, but nothing is broken or missing. It wasn’t loud and I never felt unsafe. Also idk what everyone is complaining about in regards to the homeless. I’ve never been to Toronto before but my Airbnb in a nicer area had the same amount of homeless. No one was rude or aggressive. Especially nice considering I’m LGBT and dress not so masculine. I say, if you’re young or someone traveling alone/small group then take the chance. If you’re with kids and need more amenities then weigh the options. I just wish the place allowed early checkin but I think it’s only ran by two guys so I understand they don’t want to come in early for checkin.

The unauthorized charges to my credit card must be removed immediately. It is appalling that Saint Lawrence Residences have chosen to steal from my family. Despite the mediocre reviews, we were trying to find an inexpensive place to stay and booked with Saint Lawrence. Upon arrival we found out the building is locked until 2:30pm. We had to stand outside in the rain for an hour waiting for someone to let us in. While waiting outside, we realized the block reeked of urine and found out the business next door is a “safe consumption site,” which meant drug users were constantly walking the street and asking us for money. As we entered, a woman was leaving, clearly upset, warning us about double charges and dishonest business practices. This would be extremely upsetting for anyone, let alone someone who has lost family due to accidental overdose. We explained all of this to the desk clerk, who told us she would not charge our credit card. I did not complete registration or sign for anything, but the front desk employee had already taken a copy of my credit card and our identification. I was told to contact booking.com for the cancellation and there would be no dispute. Today I found a three-night charge on my credit card, and a note in this app from the owner. I took screenshot of the conversation with the property owner, with the text as follows: "Regretfully you paid attention to what you should have ignored. Today drugs are as common as cigarettes and alcohol. Hopefully one day you will get over it. As a last-minute cancellation, there is a penalty as you agreed when making the booking." Their disgusting lack of tact, willful misrepresentation of the safety of the establishment, and fraudulent charges to my credit card after the desk employee confirmed our request to cancel and stated there would be no charges to my account are unbelievable. Everyone must be aware of their dishonest business practices. I will continue to make sure that happens on every possible social media platform regarding this unsafe, rude, and fraudulent business.

If you could avoid this place, please do. I made the mistake of staying here. I paid over $300 per night for a room and I got a dirty room with hair over the sink, mouldy kettle, stained sheets, and noisy. The resident is next door to a half way house and Moss park where people go to shoot up. If you are a family, please stay clear of this area. This is not a safe neighborhood. Please take my advice and stay clear of this place. You are doing yourself a favour. I was scared staying at this place by myself.

Edited due to the owners response* We did attempt to stay here because of the prime location, put the deposit and got the keys. When being taken to the room, not only do the lights flicker like a scary movie, it’s by far the grungiest residence I’ve been to and kids running and screaming throughout the halls didn’t help. I was still optimistic hoping the room didn’t reflect the poor quality but it was a long shot. To emphasize my first review, we left right after seeing the room, choosing not to stay and got the deposit back and never looked back. Once again, if you have zero expectations, need a room and bed, this can work. I did not stay here, wouldn’t recommend anyone stay here unless you’re simply looking for a bed to sleep in.

Avoid this place. Room was dirty, definitely not cleaned for a long time. They try to charge extra money from your credit card - probably deposit, but they never mentioned that to me, so I blocked transaction theough bank. Location is also not the great one, only one small plus is distance from thw city center. But for that extremely high price it is ridiculous.

At least 2x a wk, every wk, there is a white male either standing on the steps or watching through the windows for solo young women to walk by so that he can verbally harass and intimidate them by banging on the windows. Idk if it's an employee or guest (I don't give him the satisfaction of acknowledging him by looking in his direction), but this behaviour is persistent and disgusting. I know that it's a 'sketchy' area, but nowhere else do I experience such a pest. I do my best to avoid walking past this place (10-11pm) solely bc of him, but unfortunately sometimes I'm on a time crunch and hv no choice

If you have the option to sleep on a sidewalk in Toronto with just a blanket, that would be a better option than choosing this bed bug infested dump!

Horrible place, there is homeless people in and outside of here, and they try to charge you extra, the housekeeper scrubs with vinegar, and they didn't even change my sheets one time after a week. Do yourself a favor and find a better room even if you have to pay a little more

Would give a negative rating if it was possible. I was betrayed by ~100€ for the security deposit. Paid it in cash and never got it back

Stayed for a night recently. It was comfortable and the other guests were very friendly and cool. International travelers, etc. Kitchen was shared on the second floor where I stayed. I didn't cook when I was there but there was a super cute small family that made a meal or two. Enough bathrooms and super clean. Its quiet. I recommend this place if you are looking for something affordable downtown. Staff is awesome.

Worst hotel in my entire life (I am not exaggerating). It was dirty, had an insect in my room, the light don’t work well, just like an horror movie. The guy at the reception is so mean and nasty. I made a mistake booking the hotel for 2 nights instead of 3 and he didn’t even tell me the day before !! I found my suit case out. The only asset is the Mexican guy who is adorable and the rooftop.

I booked a room for me and my girlfriend to use about a year ago. Great for the purposes we needed it for but if anyone even thinks about staying a night here or using it for any other purpose you are out of your mind. I’d rather sleep on the streets of Toronto then stay here.

We enjoyed our stay here, the host Moe was nice and accommodating. The residence and guests were pleasant. We also interacted with the homeless and had no problems, we were 3 females. The rooms were decent, the sheets were clean and no bugs, we had Wifi and AC. It is an older building, and unique, it clearly states it’s a residence and suite. It’s like a furnished residence with shared utilities. We the guests were responsible to keep the kitchen, dining and living areas clean. There is a beautiful terrace on the roof. The price was right, the place is close to everything walking distance. The host was seen cleaning the washrooms and showers late into the night, he did everything. He did his best to run the place on his own. Keep an open mind if you come here.

Please avoid this place since this place is extremely sketchy. It is located at an unsafe neighborhood, the room was dirty, the receptionist was a phony, someone can always enter your room even when you’re inside the room, and you cannot enter the place before 3pm if you want to check in. Overall, this place does not even deserve a star

Stayed here 3 nights with my girlfriend. I must admit, This hotel is in a very sketchy neighbourhood. So sad to see so many homeless people around, but at times it was almost scary. I have never been to a hotel that literally PHOTOCOPIED my ID. I didn’t like that too much. PROS: Clean bathroom, working AC unit which was amazing being here in July/August, no bugs, clean fridge, soap provided, clean towels, comfortable bed. Super friendly man who checked us in. I think he is Spanish? CONS: TV did not work, wifi was spotty. No phone in the room - good thing we have cellphones. The flickering light in the hallway was a little weird, same with the uneven flooring and stained carpets. It was also strange that there was no dead bolt lock on the door. Kind of a creepy vibe. Some of the other people staying were questionable. Overall, it definetely could have been worse and like I said, friendly dude at the front overnights but I probably would not stay here again.

No windows or closet in the room. All the lights flicker in the building. When I asked the manager if he would change them, he threatened us. This list could go on for days but really I'm just trying to tell you not to go here, you will thank me. I would give it 0 stars if I could.

Computer didn't want to cooperate with staff, so it took forever to check-in. Room is clean and fine to stay for a night. But for 80$ a night I would like window not to be broken, I think. Maybe I just don't understand Toronto prices

Wish I could rate less than 1 star. NEVER book here. I stayed one night with my friend...They photocopy your ID and credit card...charge you deposit AND the room fee in whole (you don't get the deposit back - HUGE SCAM). Not to mention, we misplaced a key and were charged nearly 600 in addition to pay for it. The staff was harassing us the entire stay and it did not feel safe. Room was small and dirty. Stay away.

SCAM. Tried to scam us out of a 200$ deposit. Check out at 11 but no one at front desk until 2:30??? Makes no sense if you have any issues. Probably taking advantage of mentally ill guests who can’t understand their scams. We barely understood ourselves. Scanned our IDs. Room was ok but radio left on all night and shotty window coverings. Freezing cold. Can hear everyone and the blocks surrounding.
