Excellent coffee. I've been here a few times and always liked it. Most recently had the iced latte - super awesome. Great place to study too! Totally worth stopping by!

The Asian barista/cashier ruin my day. Disappointed with my recent visit. The Asian barista displayed rudeness, she forcefully slammed the card machine with an angry expression. Moreover, the coffee contained a significant amount of grounds. Hoping for improved service and better quality in the future.

A cozy and cool cafe! Quiet and calm atmosphere, ideal for work or conversation. I had the iced chai, which was delicious! They have a few assorted desserts and a lot of iced drinks, including frappes. There is also free wifi, air conditioning, and a public washroom.

Convenient when you want pilot coffee. Toasted marshmallow latte tastes like a vanilla latte.

Went last week before class… as a former barista I hope my experience isn’t too biased. The espresso was horribly sour and bitter, plus I saw expiration date of the plant milk I ordered my drink with… may have been expired. Plus the barista never cleans the steam wand and that’s problematic for food safety (as someone who also worked in food service for years)

Very Solid. Black Bear has the basics nailed down to the [coffee] ground (modified pun intended). Side Note: If a cafe a) doesn't know what a flat white is, or b) asks you what size of flat white you want ... Just walk out. If this last sentence doesn't make sense to you, simply continue going to Starbucks and stop looking up cafe reviews altogether. Side Note #2: Gotta love the cup stamp!

Got a medium hot matcha latte for around $7. Tasted good but too expensive.

Good coffee and friendly service. But I had a chance to try the coffee nothing else but it was great and they use beans from Pilot. We ordered an oat flat white and an Americano. Nice little window seat view to the streets as well.

I popped in here to get a Oat Milk Latte, i got the largest size which is probably where the issue comes in as at the largest size I couldnt taste the espresso in my coffee, probably needs a better espresso to milk ratio. I also grabbed a banana chocolate chip muffin and it was delicious! Staff was very nice and quick.

Drinks run a bit on the sweet side. Otherwise fantastic staff, good variety of drinks, calm atmosphere and good music. Hope they expand the choice of pastries with more savory options like quiches.

My friend comes in here regularly to work (which they have posted as being allowed) There are few coffee shops in the area with indoor seating, and so she is here rather regularly. The staff, particularly a woman with orange hair is constantly rude and condescending towards her. She went in twice in one day last week, and walked in just in time to overhear a male barista complaining about her behind her back and expressing that he was upset by how “constant” her visits are. If you’re running a business, do you not want regular customers? Repeated patronage is, to my understanding, something you strive towards as a business owner, and so to put down my friend for the inconvenience she is posing you by ordering an AMERICANO at your JOB is rude and tacky and quite frankly, makes you look lazy. She was understandably quite embarrassed by this interaction despite the man telling her he was just “having one of those days.” I’m in no way a Karen or one to leave negative reviews, but quite frankly, your personal issues are not a customer’s problem nor grounds to be disrespectful to someone who had nothing to do with your poor mood. Seriously question the quality of their staff. If you are so inconvenienced by having to make people coffee, maybe don’t work at a coffee shop.

This used to be my go-to spot when I lived in the area. Super friendly service, good pastries, and good coffee. It’s a nice space to work or read or catch up with a friend. They have a nice seating space facing the window and its lovely to people watch. They also sell KeepCups and carry the cool cards that give you free coffee when you complete x number of drinks bought there. If you’re in the area, definitely visit them.

Amazing service and delicious cappuccino. They were kind enough to make a new one for me after throwing mine out on mistake while I went to the bathroom. Atmosphere is calm and relaxed and staff are very friendly.

I've been so disappointed with Toronto coffee recently, and this was a breath of fresh air. If you're looking for a coffee that's a step up from the standard multi-national chain coffee, this place makes a great cup. Decided to get brewed coffee rather than espresso based - they had San Joaquin beans from Pilot available. I ordered a large black, and the price was fair. Simple, no-hassle service. Walking home with my to-go cup, I could clearly smell a wonderful aroma even through the small opening in the cap. I knew it would be delicious. It was still too hot to drink, but I was salivating to get a sip of this. Once I got home and got into it, it just hit the spot. Full of flavor. Absolutely made my morning.

Best coffee shop in Toronto!! Espresso has a nice nutty undertone which I love. I aways come here when I’m at college it’s soooo underrated. Definitely a hidden gem.

I made coffee at home in my expresso machine with the coffee beans. of "expresso type" that I requested, including grinding them for expresso machine. The expresso I made at home tasted very acidic, out of balance. I went back I requested an exchange for something stronger, more expresso type. I paid almost $ 20 for 300 g.. No luck.. Had the manger exchange the coffee I may have become a regular customer. Never back here.

I ordered a medium size hot latte, it was very good. The shop has pretty nice decorations and I like the print of bear too!

A little small for a cafe but since it is located downtown it is understandable. Seats are very limited, however. An iced latte with caramel was $8 without tips.

Got a small toasted marshmallow for $7 which was far too expensive for something that wasn’t worth it at all. Basically a bad vanilla latte (uses a marshmallow syrup no real marshmallows unfortunately). Service was nice and the vibe was cool but the drink was not to my taste at all.

I love the location of this place, and the seating is accessible. However, the staff can be rude for no reason, which I find unacceptable when paying 8 dollars for a water-downed iced latte. I keep trying to give this place a chance, but the staff leaves a wrong impression.

Amazing scone with the right coffee ☕️ in a soothing ambiance for less than what Starbucks across the road offers. You can’t beat that so just keep your eye out for a black bear 🐻 logo on the window

Coffee is ok but felt service wasn’t that great especially with the lady barista showing attitude towards customer!

Been here a couple of times mid-morning on a weekday and both times was served by a surly young man who was frankly rude. (Maybe I look like a regular he hates?) Which is fine; sometimes you expect hipster coffee snobs to be, well, a bit on the spectrum. So while, it’s not a great impression, and not likely to make me choose to come here except when the need is dire, I won’t complain about rude service on its own. But young man also made terrible espresso. That’s unforgivable: you can be an a-hole to me, a paying customer, OR you can make terrible espresso, but you can’t do both. Otherwise, this looked like a fine place to sit. Two stars for the location, the seating, the snacks, and the idea of a decent shot of hipster espresso. Zero stars for the service, the attitude, and the badly made coffee.

My absolute favourite coffee shop in the city! The baristas and owner are all very friendly, knowledgeable, and make great espresso drinks. I wish I could award more stars!

I went picking up my online order of matcha latte terribly late (like a few hours later). They made a new one for me, which taste really good.

Saw the google 4.5stars so I bought two coffees here, the coffee is way below average, too sweet. I think Starbucks is better than this. Quite expensive in this price and taste, never again.

My favourite spot in the neighbourhood to hang out with myself - cozy decor, kind staff, delicious coffee each time, seats are usually available, good internet, proper tables and outlets - when I'm tired from life I come here to rest. It does get a little pricey but I don't mind.
