I moved to the neighborhood a few months ago but have known of the cafe for a number of years. It’s in a great location and has a nice aesthetic. Unfortunately the 5-6 times that I have gone, I always ask myself why I went again. To be honest the customer service is really bad, and no attempt is made to welcome or thank them. Maybe I’m old school but that’s a big thing that is missing. I’m not one to criticize small businesses, especially during this trying time, but wouldn’t you think they would want to show appreciation to their customers even more so? Feels like a queen west vibe in the wrong part of town.

Coffee was great, but there were a lot of flies on the baked goods. Not sure how clean that is…check the photo for proof.

Easy to drive by! Use your GPS and drive slow! I love/require alternate options. The turmeric latte with oat milk suits nicely. And gf-vegan everything cookie is a great complement. There's a calm buzz you feel when walking in here. It's comforting and encouraging of you need to get your creative juices flowing. The atmosphere is rustic and earthy - real-wood tables, faux living wall, metal chairs and glass bottles on bare floors. Definitely well-thought design. Eclectic music with mostlya mellow vibe. Staff all all easy-going and friendly. I recommend. Come through...

2020.09.11. Today start of the day was a drive to the east end of the city. The coffee recommendation from @snapturethis was to "Te Aro". We got our regular Hot Americano. Great coffee. Nice location. Busy in the morning. They open early at 7am. They have a patio for outdoor seating.

This is our emergency coffee bean place next to home, the blend is high quality with a slightly sour taste but not too dark or burnt. The aroma is great. Price is reasonable in the heavy inflation situation. Service is patient and polite, but the front seating area needs a little attention as it's not clean, table and chairs are sticky. Overall, it's worth a visit for a drinkable coffee and oh their citrus summer drink is great .

Used to love love love this place. They even give tea regularly to this homeless woman who wanders in frequently. Which, is also the issue, the woman was crawling with bedbugs. They fell off her when she was walking between tables. Yes, you have bedbugs. At your store. Anyone reading this should take serious care of their belongings.

July 28 2021: I got my cappuccino here today; coffee art was nice but the coffee shop did not allow indoor seating yet, only outdoor patio without umbrellas and the sun was just too hot today.

We are visiting this part of town and decided to give this coffee shop a try. We were not disappointed! Great coffee, tasty treats, and a nice overall atmosphere.

Staff was good. Very fast service. Got the iced mocha which was really good. Good place to get work done. Very quiet. Casual. There was seating outside :)

Came here on a Friday morning around 9:30am and managed to just beat the rush. Ordered an iced matcha latte and unfortunately they didn't have soy. Their coffee is a bit more on the acidic side, but I find it tasty.

First time trying coffee here, the vibes seems pretty cool and the staff were super nice. I got a large iced oat latte ($6) and it was pretty good. Coffee was smooth and strong, service was fast. Would definitely come back!

I want to like this place because it's a cute spot in my neighborhood and the baristas are all very nice but the coffee is just not good. I live around the corner and have been there a few times now and each time my order has been borderline undrinkable. The "hot" lattes come out barely room temperature, the coffee tastes burnt, and the pastries are leaden and uninteresting. I really don't see why folks like this place when there are so many good coffee shops in the neighborhood.

Busy cofeeshop with great coffee selection! My favorites are definitely their matcha latte & earl grey scones. Always great service!

We moved to this area a few months ago and this is our go-to coffee shop for both drinks and beans. In terms of the beans, Pilot is one of the best brands. I've been familiar with them for years as I've had them at other coffee shops. Now though, they are my primary choice for at home coffee. I've tried multiple flavours, and they've all been great including the decaf. In terms of drinks, they are consistently good. I've been to tons of coffee shops around the world and Pilot is definitely up there. I'm a latte guy, but one drink I have to mention is their hot chocolate which my wife rates as the best she's had. We haven't tried many of thr pastries, but thr cookies we've got have been very good. I should also mention they have a rewards program that is really good for free drinks or coffee bags if you go there often.

The use a nice flavourful roast for the beans used for espresso drinks. Backed goods are always fresh and tasty. Service is always quick unless there's a huge backup of drinks

Always great coffee! My favourite beans to get for at-home brewing. We always pick up the heritage beans and sometimes have tried the others roasts. Greta place to just sit and enjoy a coffee but I usually get it to-go or just grab beans from in-store or online.

Coffee is consistently good! The vibe is super chill and some decent amount of seating. Perfect place to pick up a morning coffee or a bag of beans to brew at home ☺️

What's happened?? Te aro used to be an excellent coffee shop! Now the quality of the espresso drinks is inconsistent and mostly bad (burned espresso, poorly steamed milk)... There is a different barista every time I visit... Even the vibe inside is more dead and less charming. The other day they closed early without warning. I visited at 7pm and the sign on the door said they were open that day until 8. Yesterday there was no fresh drip coffee available. Only one pot but it tasted very old. It looked like they were getting ready to close but it was only 2pm. It's a pretty poor showcase for a very good and consistent roaster.

A staple of the neighbourhood. Great coffee, cool atmosphere. My 'food' rating is really only the coffee as I didn't order any food. I think it's only snack and pastry options.

I love this place! Such a soothing, zen vibe. I went here for the first time today, waiting for my laundry from across the street (quick clean, which was awesome), and had a vegan London fog and everything cookie. I loved that all the vegan snacks were clearly labelled, and there was a good selection. The staff were pleasant and efficient, and accommodated me popping out to switch my laundry and come back to my drink. Great place, I will definitely be back. 🙌🏾

Coffee 💯 love it.. staff was friendly. Good place to catch up with friends perhaps a good place if you want to complete your office work peacefully with a cup of coffee.

The coffee tasted like it had been brewed in a rusty kettle that hadn't been cleaned in years. The barista seemed more interested in their phone than serving customers, and the ambiance was about as inviting as a dentist's waiting room… just go to Bud’s Coffee instead

I was so disappointed. I love the other pilot coffee locations however this place was far from the standard others hold. The employee didn’t even look at me while I was ordering, bluntly asking what did I want. They then proceeded to give me an overflowing cup of hot coffee which almost burnt my hand! Not good. I’ll be back to the other locations but not here!

Love that they have a patio 😍 i can sit outside with my bike. And of course their coffee is delicious. Their seasonal pumpkin muffin is great!

The renowned pilot roasters lives up to its name Great espresso. Very smooth and perfectly steamed milk. Espresso goes down really nicely that I had to hold back so I could enjoy it longer. Cortado was perfect, which I forgot to snap a pic of and the latte was also on point The place has a minimalist aesthetic and very nice cafe vibe. On nice days, you can sit outside on their patio too They also have their roasts ready along a wall where you can browse that and other coffee paraphernalia Barista was super friendly striking up a convo with my friend and I, which was nice Great job overall!

One of the premier Canadian roasters taking on the spot of a previously legendary coffee shop from the mid 2000s. Fresh beans roasted to perfection. If you're looking for a spot to have great coffee with company & dog/ people watch this is your spot. If you're looking for freshly roasted whole beans that can be ground this is also your spot. All around highly recommended going here.

Pilot coffee is served at this well run establishment. With a tongue-in-cheek nod to hipsters, it is a welcoming environment that has a feeling of efficiency and warmth. I look forward to a return visit in the summer.

Pretty decent place, they don’t have indoor seating which sucks but they don’t seem to clean the tables outside at all :/ they were all covered in crumbs and food. I got the London fog latte that didn’t taste of vanilla at all but their sea salt chocolate chip cookie was the bomb but is probably from a bakery haha

Cute coffee shop good coffee and it’s close to my workplace. I visited the one in liberty village then this location, I don’t know it’s just me but they always have attitude when they serve me, I came 3 times 3 times the same attitude came from 3 different person. Some of them even ignore what I asked.

Great coffee beans but the drinks and food are just “pretty good.” Not mind blowing, and the decor is painfully generic! Appreciate this is a local Toronto roaster but it’s not going to turn into my haunt 🙃

Have come here periodically for years, and it NEVER disappoints. This is absolutely exceptional coffee.

I was desperate for coffee, someone told me “Pilot is best coffee in town”, when I rolled my eyes, he instead Ed to walk me there And darn, he was correct .. very well done job guys … everything is perfect and I am coffee nerd

I am hoping this is the union station location. As this review is about my experience on a super early holiday morning. They were open before the other shops. The coffee was bitter and just a disappointment. But the breakfast croissant was excellent. So a 3.5 star would be a better rating. I will revisit next time to see if it was just an anomaly. Sometimes you can have a bad coffee day and to be fair they were dedicated to be open so early

Amazing coffee and amazing service. Asked the barista to surprise me with a hot beverage and she did not dissappoint. Wish I asked for the name of the coffee because it was honestly the best coffee I had in a long time.

Nice spot. Little patio out front and friendly service. The line ebbs and flows but moves pretty quick.

Great coffee, cookies are average like Costco level bakery style cookies. Basically not bad but you could buy the same taste at Costco for 20% of the price.

Great coffee, nice patio with seating, the banana bread was delish! Also a great roaster, use their coffee beans at home all the time.

The funny thing hot chocolate has sugar inside. If you are dietetic and you are on diet you can’t drink hot chocolate. Store loose money too.
