Not a good experience for my 1st visit; especially when compared to their other locations. I went around 2pm, and they were completely out of pastries. I was there for roughly 45 minutes, and it did not appear like more pastries would be made anytime soon. The coffee was good. The place has a nice seating area, with some comfy seats. The bathroom looked like it hadn't been maintained since earlier that morning; no toilet paper. I feel the place could have used another staff that day, as the 1 employee looked drained, and it was likely busy. I was surprised by the high reviews. I may need to go back another day and time to see if it's any different, but likely won't be for a while considering all the other coffee place options on St.Clair.

This is the worst coffee - customer service ever ! I went to the coffee shop and asked for black small coffee. I paid $2 for it and the lady who was helping me she literally put her whole palm/hand all around the coffee lid even the sipping spat/hole. I asked for another lid and the guy, I believe he was her supervisor, he literally said why do you need another lid ? I told him that she touched the hole with her palm, in a very polite manner. And he replied, we put hands on coffee too. And I was like what the hell ! Do you put your hand inside the coffee ? I don’t understand what kind of terrible customer service was that! He took the first lid from me when I was throwing it in the garbage which was on my coffee cup and mixed it with other clean lids. I was shocked how he mixed the used, dirty lid with the clean lids. It is very unhygienic place to go. I wasted my money and time to try this place.

What a hidden gem! When you enter the ambience blows you a way. The coffee is exquisite , specially the pour over ( called the steep and filter brew )

Great selection of unique drinks on the menu - the iced caramel latté is delicious, and there are a wide variety of seasonal drinks available to try as well. Staff are very friendly and service is great, and the prices here are very reasonable for the portion sizes. Definitely worth visiting for your next café stop!

I'm reluctantly doing this review because it's my favourite spot in the city and I don't want the secret to get out! The coffee is wonderful and earthy (Ethiopian roasts are less acidic, I find, which I prefer) a good array of pastries and the place has a light whiff of freshly roasted, buttery, coffee. Low on Hipsters (a plus for me ;) and plenty of long, natural wood tables to settle into a bit of work, reading or a conversation with friends. Lots of natural light and also beautifully lit. Few places in the city are owned by people who come from the places where the coffee is actually grown, so Mofer, is also unique in that way. Plus the owners are wonderful, friendly people. And that fireplace is super cozy!

One of the best places in Toronto to get coffee. Love all the locations I've been to so far, and this location has a wonderful ambience. I ordered a caramel latte. Smooth and delicious, you can taste the quality in the coffee. There is something very inviting about this location. There is street parking nearby and it is transit accessible. Make sure to check it out and highly recommend trying the coffee straight for tasting the quality. I could spend a lot of time here.

Friendly service. Delicious coffee. They roast their beans, and sell coffee from all over Ethiopia. I purchased a pound from Yirgacheffe for a very reasonable price. The ambiance is ideal for getting some work done, or having a conversation with friends. I'll definitely be back

Very cool decorations and nice atmosphere there. But the coffee and service/attitude needs a bit improvement. Was attracted by its look so dropped by. Was told they only had Ethiopian coffee, which was my favorite. Asked for cortado with cream, but the staff looked a bit hesitant and said had Never done it. Thankfully she didn’t mind doing it for me. While the staff was pouring steamed cream into espresso, I asked to stop as I usually take it light but still she had poured too much so that not much coffee taste remained. I communicated that the cream was too much and wanted another one with less cream, was told the only thing she could do was adding more espresso…. so eventually I got a larger cup of espresso and cream mix…

Great coffee shop with a nice vibe and rustic decor. Coffee is Ethiopian, strong, flavourful and tasty. Service is excellent, the employees are friendly and efficient. Wifi is free and fast. Morning sunshine shines through the facade windows creating a relaxed mood as you sip your Americano and enjoy one of their Scones. Give them a try, and you'll be happy you did! By the way, the drip coffee is simply perfect.

Good place for amazing coffee. Love the Ethiopian coffee beans. They make great cortados. Options of oat and soy milk available so it’s vegan friendly. We tried the beetroot ginger cinnamon drink which I felt was quite average, guess this place is best for coffees!

Moving from Australia, the coffee in Toronto was a real disappointment... except these guys! It's definitely in top3, right up next to Coffee Island downtown. I do recommend getting an extra shot in whatever you order as the espresso is almost always excellent. I recommend oat over soy for a milk replacement here, no one in Toronto can do a good soy cap so not marking them down for that. Regular milk latte and caps also quite good, even though they don't do the chocolate powder on the caps they still get the 5 stars for being a just really excellent coffee place. Looking forward to trying their other fancy drinks if I can ever be pried away from the extra strong latte/cap/mocha.... One funny caution... the sandwich menu is a lie, there are no sandwiches and apparently have not been for years. So go plan across to the Boom Breakfast for a bagel if you get the munchies.

First time going to mofer on front Street yesterday. Had the best turmeric lemonade. Turned me into an instant addict LOL. Today I'm up at St Clair on another 35° day and went out of my way to go to that location. Only to be told they had no ice and I would not be getting a cold drink. I understand your ice machine broke, but have you guys never heard of buying ice for your customers? Needless to say I walked out and you lost a customer. Too bad. I did however find another place down the street on St Clair. And this place told me they had extra ice machines in their basement just to keep up with demand. Oh well.

Absolute brutal customer service and not great coffee for such a high price. The Barista was so rude and embarrassed my girlfriend in front of a bunch of people. The sense of entitlement this barista has was ridiculous. i refuse to ever go back and give this coffee shop my service ever again. it’s quite a shame because i went on a regular basis for a while since their lattes aren’t too bad, but after the barista treated my girlfriend so poorly after her being a regular customer and giving them her business ?? absolutely unacceptable. I don’t care if you’re having a bad day, don’t take that out on customers.

Coffee is a tad pricey, but it's all about the same nowadays. Comfortable place to hang out and work, they provide nice speedy wifi! Coffee is all Ethiopian based blends, they have their own in house coffees. I didn't try the tea or cocktails, but their beverages all looked great!

I was really surprised by the customer service. I paid for two coffees through the tap interface, the receipt had said approved. I walked out back to my car and was subsequently chased by the cashier. I went back and asked what the problem was, and she noted that it wasn’t paid for. She proceeded to show me another receipt from their system that was for another order, and I pointed out the approved receipt from before and she said that it wasn’t in their system. She asked me what it said on my card, and it was saying pending as is always for any orders a few minutes old. I paid again and made a point to check if it had double charged me a few days later. The coffee was alright, but it seemed very dubious to me for this to happen. The receipt had literally printed “approved” on it the first time.

I've kept seeing nice pictures of this coffee on Instagram. It was attractive so, I decided to try. I first went to one in Danforth and then the one in St. Clair. The decorations, ambiance, cleanness, taste of coffee and snacks are all good! Nice place to have a spot to work. BUT there are two main issues. First, they actually sell different kinds of Ethiopian coffee beans but they don't serve any of them. So I couldn't try any, I blindly bought a pack of espresso beans but imagine an espresso which does not smell coffee. Second, in both places, baristes were looking unhappy. I couldn't catch a smile in their face against customers. I don't think I'll give a third chance.

This coffee shop is my favorite place to hang and do my work. I really like this place because it has a good ambiance and not too crowded as well. The coffee and pastries that they had were so delicious. The barista was so friendly and pleasant to talk with. One thing that I got fascinated by this place. They had the most affordable and delicious coffee in town.

I love this place! They have delicious coffee and the place feels so cozy. Sometimes they roast coffee beans and it smells so delicious. It’s a great place to read or do work, it doesn’t get too noisy in the mornings. Free wifi. Lots of seating. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.

I live closeby and this is the closest cafe with beautiful decor. The service is always dull and with low energy. The location is perfect, especially if it's rainning or snowing. I come most of the days for doing sketching and painting. Only improvement I suggest is in servicing.

  • 4/5 Isabella F. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing vibe and perfect place to study. However the coffees/teas are a bit more expensive than average. The decor is beautiful and unique. However the service isn’t as friendly as in most cafes.

My friend and I came to this cafe hoping to get a drink. The barista wore headphones while serving and dealing with the customers, and acted unfriendly and unapproachable. Made us feel quite uncomfortable. Maybe it’s time to get better customer services and employees??!

The coffee shop has a cool vibe to it... it's as if you're being transported to some backwater coffee place in like Morocco or Ethiopia. Got that safari feel and old wood smell to it. I had a coffee and a savory scone and the coffee sure hit the spot!

  • 5/5 Jack J. 4 months ago on Google
Had the scone and a pour over coffee. Delicious. Great atmosphere. Realizing and comfortable. Has comfy chairs too.

This place is okay. Nothing special from what we had, the chocolate chip cookie was hard, and the coffee was not so good. The latte was airtight. Wouldn't go back probably though.

  • 1/5 S D. 1 year ago on Google
Today it was my first time trying their lattes, atmosphere is good however, the barista was absolutely rude and brutal for no reason. I am barista as well and I do not make people feel bad because I am having bad day.

It’s the first time I’m writing a review while I’m still in a coffee and that’s because this place is so wonderful! Delicious coffee, friendly atmosphere and great workplace. What else I can ask for? The place was so peaceful and friendly that I will definitely go back whenever I want to work or read or just chill.

Fresh tasting coffee with an authentic Ethiopian ambience. I won’t grab my coffee from this place on daily basis because it’s more pricy than other shops. Tip to management: include more no-milk options (Silk soy milk is not the greatest). Also, train your staff to better explain the different coffee flavours.

Honestly, the best latte I've had on this street so far. I can't speak much to the other aspects of this place but my perspective is that they have a great bean and some awesome coffee drinks.

It has to be the best coffee right? We visited Toronto ( we are from Montreal) and we stumble across this place, damn what a great coffee, and what a great customer service we had. Since then we keep ordering our coffee from them to our home in Montreal!

I have bought roasted beans on-line several times from Mofer. The quality of the beans, esp the Harrar has been excellent. On one occasion where Canada Post 'misplaced' my order, I was able to reach them (Milkyas Tefera, I think) by phone and they sent a replacement shipment. Too bad that the prices have been creeping up, but you get what you pay for - hopefully some of the higher prices are filtering done to the producers.

Hands down the best espresso in the city and I’ve tried them all.

  • 5/5 Priscilla C. 2 years ago on Google
I am a heavy coffee drinker and I love their coffee. Some have mentioned that the coffee tastes “burned”, which I didn’t even think of at all - i actually enjoy that particular taste/flavour. I buy the beans to make at home as well - high quality beans from Ethiopia that are great value. It’s run by a family and I’m so glad they have survived the pandemic. Will continue to support this immigrant- and Black-owned business.

Great tasting coffee! Would get my coffee everyday from here if I could!

  • 5/5 Alan H. 2 years ago on Google
Ordered from here for the first time this morning; I got a shot of espresso and a "create you own" coffee. Both were excellent, but the espresso was the best I've had in a long, long time. The young lady working deserves recognition (and a raise, in my opinion). Will be a frequent customer!

  • 2/5 Hakyung Heigi J. 2 years ago on Google
So much looking forward to it due to amazing reviews, but it was just nothing more than okay. The coffee tasted burnt. I ordered a cup of cortado and the barista made it like a cappuccino. Also, they always use disposable cups even for customers staying at the cafe! What a waste!

Very atmospheric place. And very good coffee, one of the best espresso which I tasted in Canada.
