listen my friends, when i tell you this is my go-to bakery for cakes.. i'm serious. i order from butter baker at least 3-6x year for family, friends, or just because i'm craving it. there are a selection of cake flavors to choose from but my go-to is the Blueberry Lemon Dream and Tiramisu. they do a great job pulling out the flavors without sacrificing texture, moisture, and/or presentation. i almost always place orders through telephone, sometimes before the 12pm cut off for next day pickup. never had an issue. however if i know im around the area, i'll stop by for a drink and baked goods. i usually go for the Chocolate Cookie or Strawberry Matcha Danish. ♥ staff are always welcoming and kind, follows covid guidelines, beautiful clean interior ♥

Nice cafe with some good food options, pastries, coffee, and ice cream! If you're dining it, all the ordering and paying is done digitally; which could be challenging for people not used to this. Their breakfast was excellent..the almond croissant was ok. Coffee was really good. Their ice cream was delicious. Overall it was a good first experience.

********updated review*********** I went here a few weeks after my previous review. I have not given it 5 stars. The reason given for withholding the extra (originally a 4) have been rectified. As always the staff was fantastic, once you are used to the set up for dining in, ordering and paying is simple quick and straight forward. The #espresso was smooth, hot and tasty. We started with salmon and a croissant. It was very good and the fish was fresh tasting. Since we didnt try the first time we knew #waffles must be eaten! We ordered the waffles with ice cream, whipped cream with a earl grey granola (you can really taste the early grey) on the ice cream and some syrup. The waffles are crispy and go nice with sides. I will definitely be trying some of the other flavour in the future! ######Earlier Review######## This place is definitely worth 5 stars except for a small problem. Let's start with the good.... the staff was very friendly and attentive. The menu looks delicious. We ordered Americanos that were smooth and fresh without a hint of bitterness. Ordered the coconut mango cake. It was soft, fresh and delicious with real hunks of coconut to add a nice texture. The only downside was with some technical issues while seating in the back part of the cafe. Hard a hard time reading the QR code and once ordered a bit of an issue with the credit card reader. The staff straightened it out and all was good. The menu looks awesome and I will be back to try more options and I suspect will award a 5 star then! Definitely worth a visit!

My expectation was high and they most certainly delivered! This was one of the aesthetically pleasing, healthier and better soft serves I've had. The Strawberry and Vanilla Swirl for $6.50 was light, subtle and delectable. I love the silky and smooth texture of the soft serve, most similar to sorbet. It was quite refreshing and you can taste the real and natural ingredients incorporated. I like that they change and introduce new fruity flavours every month or so. Looking forward to trying more of their heavenly creations!

Lots of hype surrounding the soft serve, but I went for the raspberry pistachio cake. For $7, it's pretty tiny. Tastewise, not a lot of raspberry or pistachio flavour, masked by a ton of sugary frosting. The cake itself was moist and nice looking. Some of the other options might be better, as they sell cookies, croissants, danishes, etc. Prices for gourmet pastries are so expensive! The workers were also really pushy - kept asking "Are you sure you don't want anything else?' even when I declined the first time. Will have to come back later for their less sweet options, but I expected more.

Everything looked amazing at this store but I really went for the icecream. I got the passion fruit sorbet mixed with the Tahiti vanilla soft serve. It definitely looks amazing but doesn’t taste as good. I found that it melted super quick, so it was more icy than creamy. It’s good but not worth the $7.

The atmosphere was very peaceful, relaxing and welcoming from the moment I stepped in. The cakes and pastries in the display looked delicious. I came to try the mango soft serve, only available during the month of July. The mango taste was very strong and was not an artificial syrup-like taste which I loved. The waffle cones are also freshly made and are not an extra cost. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and soft serve here. I would say the price is a bit steeper than other soft serve places, being just under $8 after tax for the cone.

Butter Baker is one of my favourite places to go for their pastries, cakes, and soft serve but it’s disappointing knowing that I’ve been getting less product for a higher cost. I visit almost every month for the past few years now so I definitely notice the change. The bigger cone is from 2019 and compared to the smaller cone taken yesterday.

My favorite soft serve ice cream spot in the city. Their vanilla hits so creamy and delicious. First time checking out Butter Baker since they've expanded to include the cafe. Walking into the store reminded me of stores in Japan which was pretty neat. We came for the soft serve and the flavour was salted caramel. I ordered a twist, but found the caramel too sweet. I've had several fruit flavours in the past and would highly recommend trying them when available. I've had their cakes in the past and they are delicious! Would recommend and come back.

This is a beautiful bakery with amazing pastries and treats. The staff were kind and friendly and the atmosphere was very nice though a little tight. The pastries all tasted delicious but not as fresh as we would have liked, especially for a Saturday morning. The flavors are amazing but the pastries themselves were each a little hard. If it was fresh, it would have been perfect.

Instagram worthy sorbet! Also tried all their baked goods (yes, all of them, including the cakes, all flavors). Their strawberry cake is so good!! The moment you walk into the store, you will smell the DELICIOUS butter baked goods. Hence their name, butter baker (I assume). So definitely give their baked goods a try! All their products are not overly sweet, always freshly made, which is definitely a win for me. A perfect gift for friends, family, and coworkers!

My wife wanted a slice of cake as part of our anniversary celebration. Butter Baker was a wonderful treat! We tried the raspberry pistachio cake and the mango coconut cake. Both were absolutely delicious - my wife loved the raspberry pistachio! We also tried the blueberry vanilla soft serve - again, delicious! They have a great selection of cookies as well.

I’m late to the butter baker soft serve party, but I’m so glad I’m here! Their vanilla soft serve is beautiful! It’s white as snow, soft serve perfection and it tastes even better. Smooth, not super sweet, soft, luscious ice-cream. I had the tiramisu sundae, the cake at the bottom mixed with some melted soft serve.. amazing! Can’t wait to try their cakes next!

I tried some cakes, pineapple coconut last year. This year strawberry shortcake and mango coconut all are amazing. Staff are friendly also I bought a ice cream mango vainilla so tasty. I would recommend this bakery for the desserts. A little expensive than others, but cakes are so yummy

THEIR ICE CREAM IS AMAZING!! Every flavour I tried was soooo good, take my money. I tried two of their pastries: the strawberry croissant and the strawberry matcha danish. The former was great, but the latter was not as good as I expected. They recently opened their cafe, I ordered the berry waffle and the salmon croissant. Both were delicious. The berry waffle's compote was just *chef's kiss*, the waffles were light and crisp, not your traditional pancake-like waffles.

Minimalistic cafe at the back of the bakery. Nobody seated us to we had to speak to the dishwasher. Brunch was great, the potatoes were super crispy, portions are average. It was not cheap. I wish they used larger plates because our food kept falling off. Order by scanning the QR code, there is minimal contact with staff. Overall a good experience, but would try other brunch places next time.

Surprisingly spacious cafe, close to Dundas square and Eaton Centre in Toronto. Very welcoming staff, seated right away. Order came in fast. The butterscotch cookie was perfect, blueberry lemon cake was moist and fresh, pecan and almond croissant was good. There is also a cute store front selling totes, cups, cookie cutters etc. Overall great experience, good price

Came to try the cafe as the ice cream is always a 5/5; however, the brunch food was quite underwhelming and overpriced. Overall, the atmosphere was very pleasant and it is predominantly self serve (order and pay from your own seat) which was enjoyable but the food lacked flavour and did not warrant the price tag. Would be interested in coming to try the dessert waffles! Ordered: • Croffle Benedict ($21.95) • Smoked Salmon Croissant ($19.95)

Great bakery and café option for those looking for a cool place for brunch. The house has a very pleasant atmosphere, with polite and attentive service from all staff. The place has two areas, the first one when you enter is the market part, where you can find coffees, chocolates, candles, cookies, clothes and many other products with the store's brand. The second part is the restaurant, with the lounge area and toilets, and in the hallway a refrigerator with cold drinks and an area for ice cream and meal preparation. The order is all made using the store's QRcode, along with payment, and the team brings the order using the table number. For those with children, they have a chair for children, the appropriate size for the table. Unfortunately, the store is not accessible to serve wheelchair-bound customers, it does not have adapted toilets and automatic doors, and the salon area is too narrow to adapt to a wheelchair. The food is very tasty and the average menu is worth 21 Canadian dollars (for meals) The store is between Dundas and St.Patrick stations

We always see the lineups for their ice cream but we actually came here to get a cake for my sister’s birthday. It was a bit expensive compared to other cake places in the area but it was definitely very good! Super moist and looked picture perfect. We got the pink “Baker’s Birthday Cake” and it was colourful on top and on the inside. Can’t wait to try other items from this shop!

I can only judge by the ice cream. Soft serve was extremely tasty. Closest to Japan in North America. Maybe Vancouver got better with their Hokkaido style ice cream. Anyway, the way the cantaloupe flavor that got infused did not taste artificial at all. Can’t comment on bakery but ice cream soft serve is a must

Favourite Ice cream place in Toronto! We got Tiramisu ice cream this time, there are brownies and cake other than the ice cream itself and it is very yummy all together! The ice cream is has a strong vanilla flavour, my friend does not like it very much but it is still very yummy! Definitely should try!

The atmosphere was cute. The croissants were mid, not my favourite. I’ve had better. But aesthetically they were cute. I got this iced tea drink, personally not my favourite. It was a sparkling drink with minimal taste and unsweetened. Definitely an acquired taste, just not for me.

Cute little bakery with lots of dessert choices. Their cake slices are delicious and on the smaller side - a great choice if you want a lighter dessert. Please work on your frozen treats though; the sorbet swirl is cute and pic worthy, but melts super fast … like you have 3 mins to gobble it down before it turns into fruit juice :’(

Haven’t yet been to the cafe so this review is only for the bakery! Butter Baker holds a special place in my heart during the non-winter months because my friends and I make it a tradition to try their monthly flavors after uni exams. The vanilla soft swerve swirled with their new monthly flavor never misses and the waffle cones are fresh and crispy. For bakery items, I’ve tried a few pastries (nothing special) , cookies (personally found them too sweet) , and cakes (my favorite!) The store has limited space to sit (although this might have changed since the cafe opened) so I usually walk to the atrium cafeteria for somewhere to sit,

Great cafe for both dine in and takeout! Their ice cream and desserts are delicious. The atmosphere is minimalistic but cute. There was a good variety of cakes, personally found the raspberry pistachio was the best out of the ones I’ve tried. The drinks were alright, nothing too special but went as a decent pair with the cake. It’s noted that there is a time limit for the dine in and must have to spend $10 minimum. The space is a bit small for the dine-in area so the wait might be long during rush hrs.

This was a very cute cafe + market! We went there exclusively to find croissants and we got their chocolate croissant. I found it a little dry but still flaky and kind of crispy! I wish the inside of the croissant was more soft. I also got the triple chocolate cookie and it felt like it was also very dry; it didn’t taste very fresh. I felt like I should have microwaved it for a couple of seconds so it could have been a little softer but it wasn’t s personal favourite . My friend has a cake slice and she said it was really soft and creamy! I would visit again to try their cake because I’ve heard good things about them! Also didn’t appreciate how you’d had to spend more than $10 to be able sit down and eat their pastries!

September's soft serve flavour was Mango - we got a combination of Mango/Vanilla and it was delicious! The soft-serve ice cream was carefully swirled into a cup - just enough for two people to share. It did not have an artificial, overly sweet mango flavour - rather, it tasted like a real mango in a cup. Upon entry, you'll be delighted by various products from local businesses - candles, tote bags, jewellery, and more. Looking forward to trying out other soft serve flavours!

Food was good.. the waffle is one of the favorite 🧇 they are crispy and fresh! The smoked salmon was great, sauce was good not too bitter. They also made nice ice chocolate. The flat white was very well made, but the beans were a little dark for my taste and they don't have another option unfortunately... The service was great 😊 and it's a nice place and cute aesthetic.

Super cute shop, only came for the ice cream but it was nice to browse the store area first. The flavour I got was a mix of milk tea and vanilla, with brown sugar syrup on the top. SO good, tastes like those bubble tea ice cream bars you get from grocery stores. The waffle cone was the best part though, it tastes like the crunchy? part of a waffle. Great spot for ice cream overall.

Who would’ve known I found a new study place. That’s wild. I always had the impression that butter Baker was an extremely small bakery that everybody bought ice cream from. I was feeling for something a little bit sweet, so I decided to walk in. I heard that there was a renovation happening, but I didn’t know how different it would be. You walk in and the first thing you are faced with is the market. Now as somebody who was high on caffeine that day, I noticed a lot of details. I really got to give it up for the team that decided to put things the way they were as they must be getting more sales. There is nothing that I personally wanted to buy that, as I spent already so much money, so I moved onto the café. As you exit the market section of this bakery, on your left, you could see a glimpse of a seating area on your right you could see the bakery. you’re not allowed to eat the ice cream indoors and I wanted to sit for a bit, so I just ordered an iced latte and a butterscotch cookie. They asked if I wanted it for here or to go and I said for here. They said they would bring it to me and to take a seat. The ice latte came pretty quickly, but I had to let them know they forgot the cookie, but that’s OK. It wasn’t much trouble. The atmosphere is nice, the way the room is built makes it really noisy so if you’re trying to study, make sure you have noise cancelling headphones. They have free Wi-Fi and you could also order from the iPad at every single desk. It’s not just the pastries they have on display, but they have actual sandwiches and meals that I would like to try out when I come back. I will definitely be seeing you soon, thank you for having me! :)

salmon breakfast menu + earl grey waffles The salmon was amazing and fresh, but I would recommend to request the dessert to come later so you wouldnt be pressured to eat it at the same time! The tater tots from the hot menu was very crispy and nice! Pretty quiet atmosphere if you go during the day (~1pm)

Always come back for their seasonal ice cream flavours. For winter they have a milk tea flavour with a brown sugar syrup. This is my favourite one so far; better than the mango, blueberry or grapefruit. Tasted exactly like a Hong Kong milk tea, and was much creamier than their fruit flavours. Definitely recommend others to try it if they felt like butter baker’s past flavours were more sorbet like. One thing to keep in mind though is ice cream is for takeout only, so you can’t sit in their cafe

this place has so many menu options, i'll have to come back before i can give a more comprehensive review, but it was great when i went!! very clean and well-decorated. the menu is right on the wall so you can look at it and decide before getting in line. note that you can't bring soft-serve ice cream into the dine-in area, which can make things complicated if you're in a group and all ordering different things, but it's not a big deal in my opinion. i got a walnut almond croissant for takeout and i really enjoyed it, tasted really fresh though i was there in the evening just before closing time. the staff are really kind and the service is quick, they packed someone else's cake and handed it to the customer all while taking my order!! i would love to come back on other occasions.

Ice cream was amazing!! Line was longer than expected, and it was late, so when I got there, they had run out of vanilla ice cream, so I had to just get the sorbet. But it was honestly so amazing! I was apprehensive about it at first, but it was still absolutely fantastic! And their shop was full of so many cute things! Sadly, I ate the ice cream before thinking of taking a photo, but just look at these cute things they had in their store! It's definitely worth visiting even for these! I also know they serve a fantastic brunch, so no matter when you visit, or what you are looking for, I am sure you will be more than pleased!!

After seeing Instagram hype for a long time finally decided to try this place downtown. Entrance is a bit confusing- front door leads you through their store which sells products when you walk through there is a connecting bakery. The location has a nice selection of baked goods and a small sit down place at the back. I came mainly to try their frozen soft serve mango ice cream. First off it’s expensive $6.99 that’s a pretty premium soft serve… when you order there is a sign saying can’t eat inside. ice cream only has to be take out. So odd… you order and pay but then stand outside while they serve you through a little window… I took my soft serve split with vanilla in a cup not a cone. It was hot and the ice cream would have melted in a few seconds since you have to eat outside so cup made sense. The swirl is perfect - size is decent. They place one tiny piece of mango on the side. It’s so tiny and I don’t know purpose it serves… the taste was nice. Mango has a nice taste and vanilla a nice sweet contrast. If I ate the vanilla on its own I think it would have been too sweet and mango on its own too tart so the split version probably was the best. It was missing texture. Might of been nice to have a contrasting crunchy element crushed biscuits or a wafer stuck on the side instead of the little mango. Was nice to try once but too expensive to do that again.

Got the Mango swirl soft serve with cone, was sooo good! Perfect for the hot weather . Mango was the monthly flavor for July - haven’t tried the other monthly flavors but I’ll definitely be back again. I was here on a weekday evening and there was about a 20 min wait cause of a line up. There is a little cute cafe area inside where you can sit and chat.

Finally stopped by here for desserts after dinner after longing for their soft serve ice cream for soooooo long! And it was worth it!!!! I had the vanilla and blueberry cassis swirl which was so so good. A bit steep at 6.50cad but totally worth it. I also had the strawberry shortcake which was alright. They had other baked goods which I'll consider trying some other day. Considering it was literally their closing time, the staff were pretty friendly. The space is quite small and I don't recall seeing any sitting space. I reckon they're likely to have lines during the day but I got there really close to closing so I was in and out. I'll surely be back for the swirl!

I was welcomed to the cafe to an amazing smell of buttered cookies. They have a great selection of desserts that I will for sure be returning to try out in the future. I purchased the prebagged matcha cookies and it was nicely flavoured but slightly too dry for my liking. For the shop side of this location i enjoyed the wide range of locally made items, perfect to find a gift for someone.

One of my go-to cafes! Always gotten take-out and had my first dining experience. The staff were very welcoming from the store front to the baristas and servers! Ordered their classic baker’s latte and waffles and crème classic. Very fulling (to me) and good amount of sweetness! Also appreciate their effort in mentions to the cook (to warn them of potential allergies) during ordering! Music was good and not too loud, the interior was clean and bright and the washrooms were tidy too!

I visited this place recently to try their new Ontario Strawberry and Vanilla Twist soft serve ice cream. The Strawberry flavour was very refreshing and is a must try (only available until June 30th)! The vanilla flavor wasn't anything special in my opinion. The place itself is cute and divided into 2 sides: a quaint retail shop on one side, and a cafe on the other. Note that soft serve ice cream is for takeout only. The service here was also good. The staff were friendly and the lines moved at a good pace.

One of my favourite ice creams when I'm around the Yonge/Dundas area! With rotating monthly flavors and a perfect swirl, this is a great way to end your night or treat yourself any time of day. We ordered our cones at the cash register and picked them up at the window outside. Since this was a to-go order we had to eat just standing on the sidewalk as there is no seating. There is a seated section at the back of the store, but I have yet to dine-in. What I got: - Lemon + Vanilla Swirl Final Thoughts: I love a citrus flavor that wasn't too tart as it was balanced out by the sweet vanilla. The ice cream was smooth and looks beautiful too! I'll have to come back to try another flavor and other offerings.
