Visited the site in early October, 2022. A great (and free!) site/museum to learn about a neat, hidden piece of Toronto's history! This is a place that so many people pass by unknowingly on the DVP, so it's great to get to know the site and its impacts on the city's development. I especially liked stepping into the homes. They were very well preserved and have very cool artefacts/replicas, such as antique cash, TTC transfers, and what bathtubs (if you could call it so) used to look like. The grounds are also quite nice for a walk; you could take a short loop around the museum. I even spotted a blue heron! Would encourage more people to come and visit. Plus, you could walk from here to/from Evergreen Brick Works to make it a longer outing.

A hidden gem! We were out for a family drive and just happened to turn into this place that we have always just drove past. Good thing we did! It's an outdoor and indoor historic village, buildings from the late 1880s onwards. They have building tours; the place is connected to walking trails; and inside the interpretive centre was a free art installation... An interactive one at that! Washroom facilities are brand new and clean. Outside, there were brand new info plaques that even had a few audio nuggets to drop... Very cool! It's someplace that we will drop by once or twice a year to see what new installations they have on, and catch a tour!

We visited for a tree-focused tour of the Wildflower reserve, led by conservationist Steve Smith. Fascinating to see the space through the eyes of the folks who built it, plant by plant by plant. The paths (out the South end of the parking areas) are worth the stroll for the birds and native bio diversity on view, even without the guide!

Walk the Don: Lower Don Trail ' Pottery Road (Todmorden Mills) to Cherry Street (Distillery District) The Lower Don Trail is from Pottery Road to Cherry Street at the Distillery District, a total of 6 km. Glad to see that the City of Toronto is investing on recreational trails. The kilometer markers were new and the Corktown Common was likewise a recent development. I was under the Prince Edward Viaduct and could see the subway crossing the viaduct. When I am on the subway and passing by the viaduct and looking down, I could see the trail and the Don Valley Parkway to my right and Bayview Avenue to my left (when the train is going The end of the trail was the Distillery District.

I like to walk in this area that is close to my house. We generally go there to take pictures of birds. There are a few trails and 2 or 3 ponds. It's a great place to walk and be in contact with the nature.

Beautiful, and peaceful… Hard to believe this is literally walking distance from Downtown Toronto. Recharges your soul! 1) Sunset from Todmorden Mills 2) Todmorden Mills with Yonge/Eglinton behind… Crazy juxtaposition! 👍🏻

Historic place; many of the historic facts are connected to the history of the development of this part of the city. The city of Toronto kept the place neat and tidy. There are adjacent trails and Parks nearby that can be explored at the same time.

This historical site dates back to the early 1800s (which, for Toronto, is OLD, because Toronto knocks down historical buildings for condos, and sometimes just for fun). Two cabins from the 19th century are on the property, and a modern Indigenous sculpture installation (I liked it!) was in the garden. The art gallery on site is free to enter, because it now features mostly art being sold. Having said that, the gallery is large and a pleasure to walk through. Staff are always wonderful: friendly and helpful. Washrooms are immaculate. So, why not five stars? Because if I was a tourist, especially on a limited budget, I don't think that the time and cost to reach this remote, publicly transit inaccessible destination, is worth it. But like I said, for Toronto, the site has real history.

I've loved this area for my entire life. It's an underated oasis, not only for the diverse nature that can be found within it amongst the sounds of urban sprawl in the distance, but also for the history of the Don Valley and of the people who have called it home for centuries. Helen gave a fantastic tour.

It was very classic to read the History of this location. Was here for a Native Indigenous event, covering Residential school survivors. There was cultural drumming and dancing. Met Susan Aglukark.

Good place to walk around and get some fresh air. Nice area for a for walk. Interesting heritage site in the city. Many displays that had interactive speakers, now broken, need to be fixed. Current display canoes very interesting.

The interiors of the very nice heritage houses can be seen with the Guided tour. Our tourist guide Megan was very helpful and courteous in explaining everything in detail. Surprisingly the admission was free during the window of our visit.

A quiet site with history, art and trails. Free general admission, parking and places to have a picnic. Reception staff are welcoming and professional. 15 minutes away from Broadview TTC station. TTC 100A Flemingdon Park transit bus stops nearby too. Worth checking out if you need some alone time or want to connect to nature.

One of the places that has opened up for free. We waited for a tour which is of 2 old houses from the original buildings. It was very interesting and as there were only the 2 of us on the tour it was very informative both ways as I shared my experiences from my childhood and what I recognised or remembered. The tour took an hour and was not rushed. Our tour guide was Octavia and she was excellent and made the tour interesting. Would recommend.

This was our first time at this particular historical site. The tour of the 1950's cottage and period building was awesome. Our tour guide, Elizabeth was very knowledge and made the experience very enjoyable.

This is a small historical site, located in a park, and we were there for about an hour. We took the guided tour of the old Helliwell home which was led by Elizabeth who clearly enjoys her work. Her presentation was thorough, funny at times, and her body of knowledge was impressive. She made the tour most enjoyable Apparently there are trails through the park, but we did not have time this time round to explore them. Parking is free, as is admission, and it was a lovely way to spend part of an afternoon.

Just discovered this gem in the city that I've driven past countless times. Went to see a watercolour art show at Papermill Gallery. There are trails right off the parking lot. And parking is free!!!

Great afternoon for a stroll and stop by and enjoy some incredible original art by some fabulous local artists. Very reasonably priced alao, for original art. 🖌

Went to Todmorden Mills this afternoon for a tour, by Caitlin, of the buildings and the PaperMill Gallery - Todmorden Mills Then and Now exhibit. The tours are offered by different curators daily. I enjoyed Caitlin's tour and our exchanges of other heritage places I had visited last year. If you get a chance, take the free tour, though the parking is limited.
