This is beautiful Japanese park located in downtown Mississauga. It was opened as part of friendship with Kariya City, Japan. It is small garden and you can see the cherry blossom tree. Although it is late now and the best time is end of April and early May. There are couple of beautiful lakes in the park. You can see fishes, ducks and turtles. There is no washroom in the park so it can be difficult if you are travelling with kids. You can have some amazing pics in the park. It is not very big space and can be crowded. There is no parking space in the park and there is limited street parking. The place is accessible for old people and people with limited mobility.

This beautiful little park, located in downtown Mississauga, is the perfect place for a walk or to relax in a beautiful natural garden. Its well-manicured garden and serene atmosphere make it the ideal spot for a short walk. The garden is beautifully maintained, and the pond is home to a variety of wildlife, including colourful fishes, playful turtles, and adorable ducks. While limited street parking may pose a bit of a challenge, the picturesque surroundings more than make up for it. The park is a great spot to catch the cherry blossom bloom during springtime, and the beautiful flowers add to the charm of the park, making it a sight to behold. Overall, this park is the perfect spot to unwind and connect with nature.

Kariya Park is a serene green space featuring Japanese-inspired gardens, walkways & structures, plus a duck pond. It is named after Mississauga's sister city, Kariya, Japan. The City of Kariya has its own Mississauga Park with a replica of our City Hall. Mississauga has proudly called Kariya, Japan, its sister city since 1981. The sister city initiative began in the 1950s as a way to promote communication between cities around the world. The original goal was to reduce conflict between nations in the aftermath of World War II. Having a sister city provides unique cultural and educational exchange opportunities for students, businesses and City staff. This partnership also enhances our City’s global reputation and trade. Over 100 Japanese companies now contribute to our local economy in Mississauga, more than any other city in Canada. In July 1992, the City opened Kariya Park to honour our sister city partnership. The park features Japanese-style gardens, pavilion, cherry trees, rhododendrons, and several sculptures gifted to us by Kariya City. In 2001, Kariya City opened Mississauga Park. The park features a miniature replica of Mississauga’s City Hall, a maple leaf structure, and a sculpture of a bear by Canadian artist John McEwen.

Amazing Garden!!! This is one the most beautiful gardens in the heart of Mississauga. The one place where one could find heritage, culture, garden, water bodies, water animals and lots n lots of ways to have fun! The park is based on Japanese culture and heritage. As you can see lots of texts and sculptures in the park related to Japanese art. Moreover, the park also boasts ducks and turtles. The ducks are all around in the park which adds on to the natural beauty. There is a bridge in the middle of the garden over the water body which looks very beautiful. There is no playground in the park so no swings or slides. But the Kidz enjoy even more here with the nature, ducks and the turtles. The parents can enjoy the Japanese culture and heritage while the children run around after ducks or say their hellos to turtles. All in all a beautiful and well maintained park to enjoy sunny day or evenings with family.

Beautiful little park within the city, perfect for a short walk or hanging around reading a book. Surprisingly wasn't crowded, we missed the Cherry blossoms by a week. We just sat and watched the ducks play around the water. People were having a picnic, some were painting in a corner and some just taking a stroll. Two drawbacks.. One parking is a hassle.. Best would be to park at square one and walk to the park. And second park is too small, luckily when we went there wasn't too much crowd. But we loved sitting at the park and enjoying nature amidst the concrete jungle.

I was here as a proposal photographer and I absolutely loved the place. It is so cool and really feels like you've been transported to another place. It's peaceful and relaxing even though the busy city is just on the other side of the trees. It is a super nice place for engagement or wedding photography. It's a small park but all the different Japanese details creates so much variety. I was here on an October evening so it was really quiet. I hope to be back to capture more proposals in the near future! FYI there isn't a parking lot only street parking. Permit is also required for wedding photos.

This is my favourite place for spending some time alone with nature. This place is full of positive vibes. I would recommend to go in afternoons on weekdays as it’s not crowded at that time. This place withholds its beauty in all the seasons. Also, summer and fall are the best time to play with ducks/geese and squirrels. Peaceful place, positivity, less crowd, squirrels, ‘gram-worthy spots,- that’s a whole package in the centre of Mississauga

A very pleasant small park. 🥰 Very beautiful and great for photos. I was there at noon, it was mildly busy. There is metered street parking beside the park. If you are visiting Square one, it's an easy short walk to the park.

So Kariya Park is a lot smaller than what I imagined! It’s a neighborhood park hidden within the condos, close enough of a walk to Hudson’s Bay of Square one. It’s Japanese inspired and consists of a walkway, pond and a bridge or two. There’s some nice spots to take photos and tends to be pretty busy! Since it’s pretty small, it wasn’t big enough to get a feel for an exercise but nice enough for some photos, if you’re in the area.

A very nice and peaceful park at the heart of city. You can see all the tall buildings surrounding this park, but the park brings the Zen to the busting life around. Beautiful landscape with niche Japanese reference everywhere. 10 minutes walk around, stroller and wheelchair friendly.

Small but very beautiful Japanese park. There are some statues that make the park more special. It’s family friendly, kids will enjoy at watching ducks, turtles and fishes it’s also a nice place for drawing or reading book. Bicycle is not allowed. No washrooms. No parking. There is just few parking spots in the street which are 1$ per hour. ( if the street parking is full you can park your car in Square One centre and walk down to the park.

Been in Mississauga for years but first time visiting the park, wanted to watch cheery blossom. There was only one very nice white cherry blossom tree, others with pink flowers were nice too. Parking was bit of an issue but I saw most people parking at Sq 1 and walking which is less than 5 mins walk to the park. The park itself is very well planned and feels very nice. Ponds with fishes, turtles, ducks, was very nice to watch.

A beautiful, tranquil park across the street from Ontario's largest mall in the growing city centre of Mississauga. If you don't know it's there you can easily miss it when driving by. Inside the park visitors would find a pavilion with a bronze friendship bell in the middle. The bell itself was cast in Japan and is a symbol of the friendship between Mississauga and Kariya, Japan. The pavilion is on the edge of a pond that’s filled with ducks, swans and turtles. Visitors in search of cherry blossom trees that are in bloom can find them here but the real show is inside the park. Around the pond the trees provide the perfect opportunity for photographers. There are also a number of trees lining the pathways. Kariya Park is very small so it can get pretty crowded at times. Going very early in the day or during the week are usually the best times.

Genuinely a beautiful park to visit. Went there on a date, had the best time ever and got some stunning photos. Would definitely recommend going around the evening, closer to golden hour. The way that the sun hits the trees and the water looks so magical and makes it even better than if you go early in the day.

Amazing park to go to, especially during spring time. It's not the largest, but you can easily spend plenty of time here seeing all the various flowers and trees - specifically, the cherry blossom trees. It's a Japanese-inspired garden with small pathways between ponds, small structures, flowers, and trees. There's no cost to go inside, but you'll need to pay for parking on the road.

Such a small beautiful park. It is very peaceful and there are a lot of ducks who are approachable. I had a hard time getting my 3 year old son to leave. We spent hours here and he loved it. There are turtles as well!

Excellent park to spend peaceful time and for evening walking. Nice place to take photos and to take professional photographs looks permit needs to be acquired. No pets or cycling allowed in this park. There were ducks in small ponds and squirrels in the park and kids were enjoying.

Gem in the heart of Mississauga Downtown. Must visit this place at least once. It is small but very beautiful. So many ducks and ducklings in the pond swimming around and not to miss the fish in the pond. Wonderful place to spend a few days in summer or evenings. Parking is limited and difficult to find. Therefore, one has to be careful while parking because I found a parking enforcement officer checking around and issuing tickets ($55 just took a quick look at one of the tickets 😜)

Free to visit. This public and tranquil spot is situated in midst of urban density. This Japanese garden even has a Zen sand raked garden, a brass bell and a resident crane. Even on an overcast day, it's a gorgeous and welcome respite from city stress.

A hidden treasure – serene and beautiful Japanese inspired small garden. A Beautiful hideaway from the hustle of Mississauga city – totally underrated. Free to Visit. It is a perfect place for a quite evening with your family. Kids love this garden with tons of squirrels, ducks, turtles, fishes and birds to connect with them. Two koi ponds, well-designed gardens, walking paths, and benches make it an ideal destination for nature and photography enthusiasts. Feel in love with this place, took a lot of photographs and time well spent on a weekend for couple of hours with my family. Paid parking is available however limited hence can sometimes pose a challenge. A MUST VISIT PLACE IN MISSISSAUGA.

Lovely and small scenic park for evening walk. Kids can enjoy natural pond with ducks. Good for photography and relaxing. It’s close to square shopping mall so easily get mall parking. Opposite to park we have nice Indian and Japanese restaurants. No playground, restroom or picnic area and no Pets allowed inside park.

Excellent little oasis in the heart of the city. I didn't know it existed until I searched up Japanese style gardens. It has a Japanese style wall surrounding it on all sides. Plenty of benches and trees provide shade for you sprawl out. There is a tiny zen garden that unfortunately is not given the attention it deserves.

This is an amazing and inspirational park. It is meant to be seen by walking on winding paths with stopping for viewing of picturesque scenes. Kariya Park appears to be natural, inspired by nature but not wild. It is not an imitation but rather interpretation of natural world. The fences, gates, bridges, irregular-shaped ponds, scattered rocks, plants, trees and structures, carefully composed together, like all of the park, for purity and simplicity. It is recreated, idealized environment, shaped by spiritual and philosophical ideas of Japanese aesthetics, culture and Buddhist symbolism. If you looking for place to be peaceful and untroubled in the midst of a difficult times, Kariya Park - symbol of friendship - is a beautiful refuge of calm, with healing properties to strengthen fragility of existence. Park for all, walking distance from Square One and City Hall of the hectic city. Worth the effort. Yours to discover in Mississauga.

Kariya Park, located in downtown Mississauga, offers visitors a serene and tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The park is named after Mississauga's sister city, Kariya, Japan, and is a tribute to the strong bond between the two cities and features a unique blend of Japanese-inspired design and natural beauty. One of the park's most notable attractions is the approximately 80 cherry blossom trees of different varieties and colours that bloom each spring, a gift from Kariya, Japan. These trees create a stunning display of pink blooms that mark the beginning of spring and represent a time of renewal and optimism. Visitors can take part in the traditional Japanese practice of hanami, or flower viewing, during this time. Visitors to Kariya Park are encouraged to practice proper park etiquette and dogs are not permitted in the park. Overall, Kariya Park offers visitors a peaceful and beautiful experience in the heart of Mississauga, an opportunity to witness the beauty of cherry blossoms. Its unique blend of Japanese-inspired design and natural beauty make it a must-see destination for anyone looking to escape the city and enjoy some time in nature

Located within the city this park is built based on Japanese theme they say. Its a small park but well maintained. It’s clean. You’ll see variety of creatures like the ducks, geese, fishes & tortoise made their habitat. It’s a must visit during spring you’ll get to see a lot of cherry blossoms & since its not over crowded you’ll be able to do a good photography

A small but beautiful park located near square one mall in Mississauga. It also has small pond with ducks. This is a nice place to unwind and has few good spots for photo shoots. There are few eateries outside the park incase anyone wants to satiate hunger pang. Park parking is not available.

A Japanese garden located just south of Square One, named after Mississauga's sister city, Kariya, Japan since 1981. It has a lot of Japanese-style gardens, pavilion, cherry trees, rhododendrons and several sculptures gifted by Kariya City. It's like you've gone back to Japan for this brief moment. The park is really cute, lots of nice scenery and has a sitting place as well. Great to take kids to and walk around. Great place to stroll through the history of the partnership as well. There's also the mosaic given to Mississauga in 2011 which has 6,750 photos from past delegations and twinning events. Also to see is The Friendship Bell that was a gift to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the sister city partnership and the new millennium.

Beautiful park! A perfect place for meditation and reading. Also a great photoshoot location. The only thing I would suggest to everyone visiting is to not feed the ducks bread and to only feed them duck food. Feeding the ducks bread is bad because the food has little nutritional value and can harm ducklings' growth, pollute waterways and attract rodents and other pests. The bread also apparently expands in their stomach and makes them sick afterwards.

A beautiful park paying homage to Japan in the heart of downtown Mississauga. Ducks and turtles can be found swimming in the ponds. The Japanese Cherry Blossoms are visible in the spring time which is when the park is at it's most beautiful.

Small but very beautiful park in downtown Mississauga. It's themed in Japanese culture. The park has a small water pond in the middle of the park which is very scenic. It's very good place to bring kids. The garden is very well maintained. There is no dedicated parking available for park. It has only few spots of pay and park roadside parking.

  • 5/5 Brandon H. 2 years ago on Google
Quite the unique experience. Was immersed into as soon as I walked in; the fauna in their own little tranquil ecosystem, the silence away from big streets and cars, the occasional quack of the cute ducks. Even encountered a squirrel experiencing true tranquility!

This small but beautiful Japanese inspired garden is conveniently located in the middle of downtown Missisauga. It is just steps away from Square One Shopping Centre. In summer, the park is so green and it is also beautiful in Spring with the Cherry Blossoms and in Fall when the leaves are changing colors.

A hidden gem in the heart of the city. Felt like we had travelled to Japan. The park is small but scenic. It has it's own two miniscule ponds. We went there late in the evening around 8:00 PM. Many people were there, some were relaxing, others were just taking pictures and selfies. We joined the bandwagon and clicked some pics for Google Maps and other as memories of our own. Great place to enjoy an evening with family or friends.

Nice peaceful park much smaller than I expected, unfortunately I didn’t go during cherry blossom season missed it by like a month lol, still a nice place to visit. Will definitely go back for the cherry blossoms next year. There was some repair work going on at the time. One of the reasons I didn’t go during cherry blossom season was the intense rush at the time but need to check it out one of these days ( rush or no rush). When I went this time it was pretty empty not a lot of people. Nice benches to sit on, great for photography. Can see some ducks here other species too.

A very calm and serene place, where you can sit and relax. It's fun to watch the ducks and squirrels running around. They are super friendly, too. The bridge is shut down for maintenance. It's a pretty place for pictures as well.

Park was beautiful for it's size. Very calming atmosphere and a great location. This park has a couple of ponds with fish, ducks and turtles. The bell has a long history and is centered in the park next to the river. Good for family outings, kids and couples, or even a nice morning walk.

  • 5/5 Inna E. 2 years ago on Google
A little gem in the city. A beautiful tiny park with a pond for taking pictures. Its also gorgeous in the Fall. The only drawback is that there is only a street parking (paid) and there is not much of it. Although, you will probably spend there 20 minutes or less.

  • 5/5 Kumar K. 2 years ago on Google
Beautiful small park in near square one. Lot of peace inside the park. Many birds welcome you. Nice spot for a theme photo shoots and also to spend time with your loved ones. 1 of the must visits as per canada tourisms also in fall season. Nice Japanese theme park and a good trials to walk on. A very tiny one compared to the number of other parks of Canada but in square one a beautiful place to sit and hang out if you are not a fan of spending your day in the crowded mall. A perfect picture capturing place in heart of Mississauga one should not miss a visit to. But it's a small one just remember that...

  • 5/5 karen l. 2 years ago on Google
The scenery is quite nice, although it is a bit small. There are always ducks and other small animals, and it’s a great place to sit down and have or picnic or to just take a quick stroll around.
