We went to see Discmen Saturday night and the band was amazing. The only thing that took away from this great experience was the horrible service we received from the bartender. Any time you would order a drink from her it would seem like the biggest inconvenience to her. She would be audibly swearing/rolling her eyes if your order came out wrong (which was from her own doing). Having worked in the hospitality industry I do sympathize for staff when they are that busy but when people dread going up to order a drink because of the treatment you receive, there’s an issue.

Bluegrass Brunch at 10am was a fantastic experience. Young families with kids running around and dancing. Excellent food. Capable competent service. Wonderful bluegrass by Unseen Strangers. Great to see proper sound reinforcement early morning so your breakfast is not washed out by music. Absolute recommend.

Was once the best guaranteed place for awesome live music. Routinely now hires bands (even on a Saturday night) that feel like the best Oshawa has to offer for retirees and parents out for a pub night. This bar has more caché than it is utilising. Step it back up kids. No need for things to suck this much.

what has happened to this bar? red haired bartender screaming and cursing at staff, and customers. When a customer asked her why she was speaking like this she kicked them out. this wonderful Toronto staple is a shadow of what it once was.

You want date night ideas? Go see a show at the Dakota Tavern. It’s that easy. I’ve never been disappointed here. Waiting for a beer at the bar might be a hassle, but only because Dakota packs out because the music is so damn good. Unreal venue 🤟

Back to an old favourite with some old pals. Door person was a true class act! Give that guy a raise! It's hard to find good people. Once we walked down the old flight of stairs, nostalgia came rushing back. Sound was great, vibe on point, and smiles throughout the room. Still always a challenge to get to the bar to order, but with a bit of patience and kindness, you're there. Thanks for a great night!

Awesome country bar in the heart of the city. Come here for beers and live music. No food on site- atleast during the live show I went to- but you can bring food in or order pizza to the bar.

Went to see Little Andy, loved the show and atmosphere. Sad they did not have any food, just beverages. They let you bring outside food. Excellent service.

For some reason the one bartender really didn't like me. I asked for the cheapest tallboy, he said they were all the same price ($8.75), but seemed very offended by the question. The next time I grabbed a beer he charged me $9.50 (when he previously said it was $8.75). I asked if that price was correct he said yup. My next beer i went to the other bartender and she charged me $8.75 for the exact same beer. That guy really didn't like me.

I had a not great experience here last night. I showed up with my girlfriend and when we sat at the bar , the older lady working behind the bar came over and asked if we wanted anything. I asked if they had a menu and she replied “ I only have a fridge and beer on the tap” with attitude. My girlfriend ordered a whiskey sour and it was the worst tasting whiskey sour I’ve had in my entire life. I didn’t like the beer I had either but that isn’t the bars fault. The man working at the front door was polite , and the establishment is very cool looking.

Great venue for live music! The atmosphere is amazing, especially love the twinkle lights. Staff was lovely, the lady working the bar was very helpful. My only complaint is that alcohol was incredibly expensive, but Toronto is always more expensive. We will be returning :)

Didn't even know this place existed until I stumbled on it one night and it was exactly what I was looking for in a small band venue downstairs bar atmosphere with some of the coolest staff you'll ever meet. The vibe is very friendly and the music is always enjoyable

Nice little underground bar, with a cozy cave vibe. House piano was a fun addition to our gig!

Been going to shows for a little over a decade and The Dakota has always been one of my favourite venues

It was warm and dark inside. The stage had excellent lighting and sound system, so that one could see the show all the way from the back. Having the washrooms inside the basement was a nice touch, so that one did not have to walk up and down the stairs to access the washrooms.

Great bar located in a fun area of Toronto. The main allure of The Dakota Tavern is the lovely live music acts they have performing every week. Give their website a look before going out and see who is performing! Lots of great talent!

We were looking for a place to have some beer and came across Dakota Tavern. It has a rustic ambience with live music performance starting at 10 pm. However this is more of a place for live music enthusiasts. Does not serve food, only drinks.
