I really wanted to like this place but it didn’t live up to my expectations. The aesthetic of this place is incredible, too bad the service and food could not live up. The server was non existent, barely came over to check on how the table was doing, didn’t take my drink or food order. I was constantly having to ask someone for service. The food was very expensive for what it was. The chicken bites were tiny and lacked taste. The fries were crispy but also chewy as if they sat in oil for a little too long. I saw fish tacos on someone else’s review and thought I would get two big pieces of fish. When my meal came I was severely disappointed with the size considering how much they cost. The burger however really saved this meal from being one of the worst. The burger was moist and melted in my mouth. The combination of crispy onions, arugula, and provolone really complimented each other nicely. Overall not impressed with the Commoner

writing this review as an employee and not a customer because I think that more of that should happen. I worked here for about 5 months before I was fully ghosted by management and given no actual reason why I was removed without notice or warning from multiple staff apps/means of communication. this is not a good company to work for and not a company you should be giving your money to. if they can’t take care of their own they can’t take care of your food. something the company needs to work on moving forward for sure.

So we got here at 3pm, we had such a great time, loved the drinks and the food and the bartender/server (Duncan) was extremely knowledgeable and guided us through the menu. But unfortunately we didn't know that his shift ended at 5. The next shift was full of discourtrous and rude. The manager/bartender made a wrong drink, and when my friend went to go and ask them to fix it, she rolled her eyes and gave us a very discriminating and rude attitude, as if we didn't belong to this neighborhood. Later on we found out that she gave our waitress a hard time too and made her pay for the drinks that we returned. Food was great otherwise, environment awesome too, but these girls at the service maybe should look for a new job if they hate their lives at this bar. It is absolutely shame of an experience when you start your visit so positive but end with a bad taste and not wanting to come back for being treated this way.

If you like an upscale burger this place might be for you! Very tasty food and a unique atmosphere. The prices are a little high but it’s ok. Friendly Staff and quite relaxed, go there you will like it.

Great brunch spot near High Park. My favourite was the breakfast sandwich. I requested the bacon to be extra crispy and the chef did not disappoint. I requested for my potatoes to be extra crispy and my server suggested french fries instead and those were a perfect addition. The eggs benedict was great too. If you like spice, request for their home-made hot sauce. Our server was brilliant and we shall definitely come back. Keep up the great work The Commoer Roncy team!

Went here for a work Christmas dinner! It was an amazing experience and atmosphere! Servers were very knowledgeable and excellent at suggesting items on the menu! I recommend going here casually or formally for any event! Truffle fries are a must try, great starters and tastes amazing! Chicken wings are not worth 18 dollars for the size of the wings very small. Burger was delicious and the goat cheese salad with added chicken is a must try!

What we ordered and our thoughts: - Buffalo cauliflower: delicious! The buffalo and blue cheese sauces were soooo yummy, we couldn’t get enough of it. - Veggie burger + truffle fries : burger was pretty good, although the fries could do with a bit more salt. - Chicken schnitzel: the texture of the chicken was delicious and crunchy. Other parts of the dish could do with a bit more salt. Overall, good spot, although dishes could do with a tad more seasoning. The atmosphere was chill for a friday night — not too loud, and there was enough comfortable spaces between tables.

The service provided was exceptional! The waitress attending our table was incredibly friendly and attentive. Although the food was good, it could have been less salty and a bit less dry. Additionally, the ambiance was adorned with fascinating vintage items that added an interesting touch to the overall experience.

For dinner: Don’t sleep on the nachos or fried chicken bites!! Skip the schnitzel (too dry and lacked flavour). We went back for brunch as well because we’re brunch people. It was decent (potatoes were yum) but benny was drowned in hollandaise and I prefer a different sauce ratio. Service and pub vibes are on point. Love the summer indoor outdoor situation though wasps are a terror.

I'm a fan of the brunch menu here. The 🥞 servings are huge, and the salmon egg benedict was also pretty good. Highly recommended (Pancake score: 5/10)

I’m so glad I finally went to the Commoner! We arrived for the brunch menu and it was fantastic. My husband had the Eggs Benedict with peameal bacon and I had the breakfast burger with fries. Both were excellent and the burger was huge and super filling. Our waitress was really kind and attentive and we felt well taken care of. The space was bright and cheerful (even on a cold winter day) and the decorations and detail were just lovely. I highly recommend to anyone wants to enjoy some great food and coffee in a great environment!

Charming decor, clean bathrooms, delicious bar food. Tad overpriced on the chicken wings, but they were yummy!! And the fish and chips were 1st class.

Went for brunch and while it was great, I was more impressed by the decor than the food. Ordered the classic benny with a side of truffle fries which was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Service was also standard. The decor was modern but also felt rustic at the same time. Looks like it was recently renovated and I feel like it's a great addition to the Roncy pub scene.

It was raining when we went on their patio, so if you are not a fan of the rain I encourage to do indoor dining. They don't have the best setup for covering the patio. The neighborhood looks sketchy but this is a neighborhood gem. Our server was absolutely pleasant and made sure we had a good time. Pricing is affordable and the food choices are very tasty The chicken burger was very good with just the right amount of sauce. Their patio is not big but can accommodate a group. Our group size was 4. There is street parking only

Really delicious app and ambiance. Don’t forget the donuts those were a show stealer! Service was friendly but a bit slow.

This restaurant is very aesthetically pleasant with it's almost art-deco meets diner chic vibes. The staff was very nice and friendly. The restaurant was painfully understaffed. 4 tables were left uncleared with food on plates, with flies for over half an hour. Flies that congregated at our table as we we're seated, to the confusion of our very nice host. Soda machine was broken and instead of pop produced bitter flat brown water, which they tried to make us pay for. Appetizers were great, but 5 out of 6 entrés were not hot, even with overdone fries, cooled to staleness. 18$ chicken sandwich had such a small chicken piece it covered only half of the bun, sadly. Watermelon margarita was very good, that I do recommend. All in all the staff tried their best, they were wonderful, but will not be returning any time soon.

Great place. Nice service food was great, they could use longer potatoes for the fries, as the picture show, we order fries 2 times and both was really short pieces. Other than that, everything amazing.

Had to try the commoner’s brunch and I was definitely not disappointed! The food was amazing, good quantity and quality for the cost! Only down side was the service was not as great but not horrible. The hostess was quite dreary/uninterested in their job and didn’t make us feel welcome. And things were a bit slow.

My family and I been to The Commoner Roncy restaurant many times. They serve up good quality, tasty food at a reasonable price with friendly & efficient service. Each time they deliver wonderful flavors satisfying my whole family even my teenage kids. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant location is very convenient, also very clean and well maintained.

New favourite neighbourhood place. Beautiful large patio and interior space with a classic swanky Art Deco vibe. Food and drinks were awesome, staff were really nice. Love it!

I’ve been here a few times since it’s in my neighbourhood, and it’s always consistent. Great service, atmosphere and food. Ashley our server really had great suggestions on drinks and food.

Was there for an early dinner with my daughter who is a vegan. We were both able to eat fabulous food. And as a bonus the entire restaurant was accessible. Service was incredible. Can't wait to go back!!! Best french onion soup, that I have had in years.

I had not been to the Commoner in many years so it was nice to check it out again. It seemed to have transformed more into a bar than a restaurant. Being there on a Saturday evening, we expected it to be busy and loud and it was. No big deal. Sports on the TV was enough to keep our teens happy. After a brief wait, we were set up at our table. Again, the music was a little loud, meaning everyone was trying to talk over it. But we adjusted, the level of noise dropped and it was no longer an issue. Food was fairly quick. Burgers, chicken sandwich and steak were ordered. No complaints on the food. My chicken sandwich was hot, crunchy and hit the spot. Kids devoured their burgers. It was a nice evening out. My only slight complaint was the unnecessary urgency we were feeling from staff to move on and pay. There were empty tables around us and they brought the bill before we were even done eating. Small things are big things these days with how little people are going out and of course the cost. I am sure it was not intentional, but it put a small sour taste on the evening. Maybe when kids are involved, staff think parents are trying to hurry through dinner and get out. Anyways, all in all, it was good meal. Great people watching on the corner and even though the TVs got switched to hockey, the boys were happy. It's great to see a local place like this doing so well and it certainly is a good spot if you are in the Roncy/Dundas W area.

Fantastic experience, thanks to our server Natalie! She was extremely kind, honest, attentive, and made some really great recommendations. Although she was simultaneously taking care of two large parties and a handful of other guests, she made my husband and I feel very well taken care of! Food was delicious, cocktails were superb, and we will definitely be back!

This place is wonderful. I love the atmosphere, the food, but most of all, the service really is amazing. The servers went above and beyond to relocate my partner and I from the patio to the dining room as I am terrified of wasps and kept getting bothered by them while eating. I really appreciate their kindness.

Drinks and food are fantastic. However, Valerie made our experience even better. My parents were visiting from out of town and Valerie really made the night memorable for all of us. Thanks so much!!!

Fantastic customer service! We have been here a few times since the patio reopening and the customer service has been top notch every single time. The food is fantastic, we both eat vegan and love that they have an option on the menu. Great selection of beer, wine and cocktails. The sun hits the patio just right in the evenings. I highly recommend this place as the staff are exceptional.

Everything we ordered was delicious. Try to Buffalo cauliflower, ribs and don't forget to finish with the doughnuts. Friendly staff with great service. Excellent attention to Covid passports and Covid safety.

Stopped in for lunch and the service was great even though they were very short staffed. We had cobb salad, fish tacos and chicken schnitzel… The chicken was overly crispy … but the potatoe salad and beets were spot on!

We finally tried the Commoner this weekend for brunch. The food was just okay but the beer selection, service, and ambiance were great.

Went for dinner on a cold night and despite there being other seats open they put me nearest the door at the bar so I was freezing whenever someone came in and out. The chicken burger was good but more than half my fries were burnt and inedible. The diet coke I got was so watery it didn't taste of anything, so I stuck with the water. Also asked for no ice (as it was freezing) but still got ice. It is loud and there's no subtitles/captions on any of their screens so you can't really watch a game or whatever. The service was okay, I actually wanted to say something, but when they came by to ask I was chewing the burger and even though I indicated for them to give me a moment they left right away. Why come and disrupt my meal if you aren't even going to bother to wait for feedback? Just going through the motions is how I'd describe the service. Good decoré but there's like 50 better places within 10 mins. I'd skip this place, it isn't worth it.

Great bar and great service but food was not tasty at all. The pancakes we order had a metal taste and were not fluffy at all. The bartender was super nice and friendly, but the food lacks taste.

Nice atmosphere. Busy spot but prompt and friendly service. Went for brunch and the food was excellent. Definitely recommend The Commoner Roncy. Went back again for brunch and all was just as good, highly recommend this spot!!

The design and atmosphere of the place was so intriguing and amazing, the service was quick and friendly and the food was the best burger i’ve ever had. It was crispy and saucy and not too moist. The truffle fries were also amazing.
