I’d give this place a 3.5 star review (not. 3). It was fine, food was really nicely presented and they do have some really interesting things on the menu. The flavours were creative, and there were some stand outs for me (such as the grapes in the burratta dish, or the beet-ricotta pasta with honey- but to be honest, the flavours were kind of light (minus the mackerel- that had a lot of flavour) and nothing was a ‘stand out dish’. Also, portion sizes are TINY for the price you’re paying. All in all, wouldn’t go back for dinner.

Delightful take on Italian-inspired cuisine. Highlight of the evening was a Carbonara with in-house cured guanciale and noodles. The best I've ever eaten outside of a few select locales in Italy. Not that anything else was less than scrumptious. Highly recommended.

The dishes were unreal here! The menu changes frequently but we got the beef tongue tartine and squid tonnarelli this time which were both incredible! Really unique and quaint spot which has a Nordic feel to it. There’s no bar so it’s wine and beer selections only** will definitely be returning:)

Simple but flavourful food. Pasta was the stand out dish. Excellent wine selection including a really lovely orange wine we had with appetizers. One small complaint is that the space, while beautiful, was quite open resulting in it being very echo-y and loud.

We have been meaning to try Wynona for some time. Had dinner there just before Christmas. Ordered Marinated olives (generous portion), grilled Focaccia (delicious but a little heavy on oil - next time will ask for less), Kanpachi crudo with pomelo and burned orange (Excellent), a kind of roasted squash with nuts (very good), Branzino (Excellent) and a pasta with oxtail (very good). Restaurant is clean, has nice decor, great friendly service, price reasonable. Definitely a GEM.

To preface everything, I had a good time here. There are a few complaints across the board that are personal (maybe) preferences. The atmosphere is great when it isn't busy, and it is most often very busy. The dining area gets very loud with a full house and the open kitchen, so much so that talking at a table of 4 is difficult and sometimes tiring. The service was excellent from the speed, friendliness, knowledge, and recommendations. There are no complaints from me here. The food was good, a decent variety of appetizers and pastas to choose from, each with their own charm. The only downside is that everything on the charcuterie board and the focaccia were on the salty side, and together were a bit hard to down. On that front I'd recommend the cheese board instead; their in house crackers are great with or without the cheese. My group got one of each of the pastas on rotation, and in my opinion the Ontario Sweet corn agnolotti was the best of the bunch - it is spicy which float my boat, but not my friends at the table. The other dishes were okay, but not the best as someone who typically don't care much for pasta (The other 2 options are the saffron tonnarelli and the campanelle with braised rabbit). The desserts were a trip, the peach curt pavlova was great, nice a light with nothing much to complain about. The dark chocolate torte was a bit of a mixed bag. Overall, it was good, but they were also a bit heavy on the salt here as well, enough to ruin a good dessert in my opinion. So once again, between the two, I'd recommend the former. This place is not for me mainly for the pasta focus and the loud environment; but if those are non-issues for you, I'd recommend a visit.

One of the best meals you can have in the city. The menu changes and there are always interesting creative options. We had tuna with a cold gazpacho, and it was unique and incredibly well done. They also had an excellent squid ink pasta. The patio has a really nice ambiance. The wait staff is helpful and pretty quick. They weren't able to immediately seat us for our reservation , as a customer had not left yet, and they provided us with some drinks on the house as we waited which was really nice.

Honestly tonight was a perfect meal. I've been meaning to check out Wynona since moving back to Toronto in 2021 and I wish I did it sooner. I shared a main with my friend as an app instead of ordering off the app menu. The price difference was small and I think we made the right call. The Ontario pea agnolotti dish was a good size and I had to lick the sauce. Perfect amount of everything for an app for two people. I got the Branzino, brown butter, cerignola dish as my main. The fish was perfect. I just wish it came with a small side. Not sure what that'd be but I enjoyed it none the less. The dessert of White chocolate bavarois, brandy cherries, raspberries, milk crumb, and lime was a fun last bite. Not sure what it'd look like but it was a great light dish. You need to eat here.

I can't help but think the restaurant is a bit over-rated as a "Bib Gourmand". Maybe it's just not our palate but when there are so many great restaurants nearby (including East End Vine next door and Anglr just down the street), it's not worth the money. Food was just decent and a bit bland but service was great.

Beautiful atmosphere. (Take the bar table in the window…best spot in my opinion, you can people watch with a view). Our server was extremely knowledgeable and kind. The wine selection (especially orange wines) was great! The cuttlefish ink tonnarelli was scrumptious. Tip: order every possible dessert! We’ll be back :)

Another date spot favourite. Their crudos are always good, pastas are usually fire (should be the case for an Italian joint like this), focaccia fan, and fun desserts. 99% of the dishes are bangers, although their Kentucky fried fennel was not particularly pleasant, but I'm not a huge pickle fan to begin with. It's quite heavy on the pickle flavour and the batter doesn't blend particularly well with the fennel.

July 2023 - we were seated near the open window facing the patio; great spot! I’d argue that they’re better seats than the patio. Loved, loved, loved everything we had. This place would be super cute as a date night spot.

Wynona was absolutely delicious and everything about the experience was great. From the way the decor is set up, to the menu and the wait staff. This is definitely a place you need to try in Toronto. The wine recommendation from our waiter was great with our meal. I really enjoyed the branzino as well as the saffron tonnarelli. Also the dessert was delicious, I loved it so much! We had two! Would definitely recommend Wynona.

A perfect dinner spot outside the usual. This unassuming restaurant on Gerrard East will blow away any expectations you might have. Each dish was a unique and interesting concept bursting with flavours. Each dish from the salads to pasta to mains are very creative but very approachable. Staff are very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable and the restaurant is sophisticated but very cozy.

Nice casual evening sharing delicious food with wonderful friends. Hostess and servers were friendly and offered great suggestions. We were a table of 5, dining on a Wednesday night. Judging from how busy the place was, reservations are a must. • Grilled focaccia - delicious but wish it was a larger portion. Only 3 slices per order. • Burrata, white wine poached Asian pear, green grape, pine nuts, and fennel pollen - lovely combination of flavours. However the Burrata was served too cold and didn't melt when we cut into it. • Salad of little gem, Ontario sweet peas, green goddess dressing, feta, and pumpernickel dill breadcrumb - we all loved the sprinkle of the pumpernickel dill breadcrumbs. Added a nice flavour and texture to the salad. • Beet honey agnolotti, poppy seed butter, sherry vinegar gastrique, currants, red kale, and ricotta salata - at first we thought it wasn't going to be enough but these little pockets of yummy goodness were richer than we expected. Portion size was perfect for us. • Cuttlefish ink tonnarelli, octopus ragu, baresane olives, paprika oil, dandelion - surprisingly tasty and quite filling. The octopus was well cooked (not rubbery) and the flavours all worked really nicely together. • Branzino, brown butter, cerignola olives, capers, oregano, and lemon - always nice to have a whole fish. Wish it was a slightly larger portion. • Grilled Ontario pork chop, purple mizuna, shaved almond, and apple mostarda - pork chop was cooked perfectly. Tender and juicy. The apple mostarda went so well with the pork chop. • Olive oil cake, Ontario strawberries, pastry cream, and chantilly - think deconstructed strawberry shortcake with a little twist. The fresh strawberries were great as they were in season. • Crème caramel - exactly what we expected it to be. Silky and smooth. If we were in the area again, we would definitely come back.

4.5 We loved the food. Flavours were unique and dishes were well presented. Our favourite was the tonnarelli. The ingredients were fresh and we loved the freshly in house made pasta. Ambiance was great and service was attentive as well. Would definitely want to come back and try more dishes.

Food was ok, service was so so. Nothing to write home about. 4 people can expect to pay about $280 for a few appies and 3 main courses and 1 dessert...not including wine. They do NOT serve cocktails.

Had dinner with a friend. Shared 4 plates and a dessert. Everything was really delicious. You can tell the chef pays attention to detail and has a great palette. Beautifully combined flavours… Sadly I’m not a big picture taker, but we did manage to take a few shots.

Worth Trying. A neighborhood gem featuring modern Italian takes, small plates and a tight focused menu. Dessert is a treat here. Branzino - Great Mediterranean flavours. Unfortunately a lot of small bones towards 2nd half of the fish. Didn't ruin the dish, but heads up would be preferred. Scallops - Clean flavours and melon was clever for sweetness and texture. Great herby sauce. Saffron Squid - Perfectly executed texture, not much squid. Cauliflower Carbonara - strong starter, creamy and perfectly seasoned. Not too heavy. Dark Chocolate - Really well done. Not too sweet. Great decor inside, would recommend inside seating as patio is extremely packed and tables are too close. Takes AMEX. Expect $100pp inc a drink.

During my girlfriend's birthday celebration, we stumbled upon a hidden culinary gem. Our menu selections included the delectable Saffron tonnarelli, the delightful Ontario pea agnolotti, the indulgent Fioretti alla carbonara, the exquisite Hokkaido scallop crudo, and the divine White chocolate bavarois. Each dish was a delightful surprise, leaving us in awe of their extraordinary flavors and aromas. To complement our culinary adventure, we savored a white wine that paired impeccably with the dishes. The overall dining experience was exceptional, creating a wonderful ambiance for any weekend outing or celebration. As an exciting revelation, we later discovered that this remarkable place was Michelin recommended. Such recognition only heightened our enthusiasm to return and savor their ever-changing menu. If there's a particular dish you wish to try, I recommend visiting soon, as their menu evolves to continuously delight their patrons.

Definitely can understand why this place is popular all year round! The service and atmosphere is very nice. The waiter we had was attentive in allergies and was great in recommendations. In terms of food, I am a fan of the Saffron Tonnarelli. It was so good, from the saltiness and aromatic oils. Definitely a highlight for me. With dessert, the bavarois was light, creamy and had a nice silky mousse texture. I thought I would’ve enjoyed the rummed cherry but that’s my only call out. It made the dish fall into this sourness/bitterness.

The food is so delicious, fresh, and very well presented. A perfect place to savour gourmet Italian food in a non pretentious setting. We ordered the Pea Agnolotti, and Saffron Tonarelli, Pork Chops for mains. Everything was incredible. Highly recommend the Tonarelli (attached pic) In the appetizers, loved the Zucchini gallete.

Wynona offers a truly distinctive dining experience, with its open kitchen, incredibly welcoming staff, and an inventive, generous menu. This neighborhood gem exudes a vibrant atmosphere, and Chef Joe and the team deserve immense recognition. We relished every dish, from the delectable focaccia bread to the Endives salad, Vitello tonnato, Branzino, croquettes, and pasta. I can hardly wait to return and savor the braised rabbit pasta!

I wish I could give this place more stars! My partner and I went for an early dinner and every point on service was impeccable. Our drinks were always full and every dish hit! I highly recommend and will be back again..with people so we can eat the whole menu :)

Had a wonderful meal at Wynona, attentive staff, lovely food, open kitchen the whole experience was fantastic. However I am doing my expenses and I notice they overcharged me for a cheese dish where we ordered one cheese and were charged for 3. I took pics of the food so I know how many cheeses we ordered. See pics below: So when dining here after drinking a bottle of wine your tipsy butt needs to sober up and check the bill thoroughly to avoid being overcharged.

I would return for the dessert, and the dessert only. The dark chocolate mousse with creme fraishe was outstanding and inventive. 5 hours later, I’m still thinking about it. As a vegetarian, this isn’t the most accessible place for a main course. The truffle ravioli was decent, but portion sizes were pretentious - $30 for 6 pieces of ravioli. No matter the quality of the ingredients, it sadly did not fill us up. It was also served in a flat plate (as opposed to a bowl), which made it difficult not to waste the precious, expensive sherry butter sauce. This is the only vegetarian option for the main dishes. While the staff are friendly they do make haste to ensure table turnover, so make sure to arrive on time if you do come, and not to come in too hangry if you’re eating vegetarian.

Excellent spot. Very unique tastes and cozy atmosphere. The scallop crudo was outstanding and branzino is top notch. The staff are very knowledgeable and provides great recommendations. I highly recommend visiting, but be sure to make a reservation as it can get busy.

3.5/5 Located on the quite streets of late night east Gerrard stands this little beautiful glowing restaurant. I like how the menu changes every week or so, but might be stopping them from having a menu full of winners though, but I appreciate the approach and I will be back! We tried 3 things, an app, 2 mains. The app was a wonderful salad topped with unqiue ingredients like pickled mushrooms and chicken skin crumble. So beautiful in presentation as well. We had the fish and one of the pastas with sausage. The fish was burnt and really ruined what could have been a fantastic main. The sauce it was in was lemon butter flavored and well done. The fish under the burnt skin was good too. Just even compared to others photos ours order should not have passed the kitchen inspection and come to the table as black as it did, which is the only reason it's not a 4. The pasta had light with rich flavors. Mild cheese taste on the pasta and the incredible richness of the sausage was actually fantastic. The best dish we had of the night. The music wasn't too loud and it was well lit enough which I LOVED! Service was very kind, bit slow. An hour into arriving we only had our app, etc. It happens and the restaurant was small but full house. Great vibe and environment. It's on the list of Michelin restaurants recommend list for the city. Only 1/16 places were nominated for this. Only 12 restaurants actually got 1 star and only 1 restaurant got 2 stars out of there 3 star rating system. I can tell these guys are gearing up to try to get Michelin star status and other than the one bad dish, I have no doubt they could get there! Follow my google page for my review of every single one of them in progress and coming soon.

Hands down one of the best meals that I’ve had in Toronto. The service and atmosphere are excellent - Joe is an amazing server with greasy recommendations, the place itself is nice and open and the music is great. Moving to the food, two of the apps were incredible inventive and delicious. The green curry kohlrabi and head cheese were things I’ve never tried anywhere else. The crudo, although nothing new, was very fresh and well executed. For the mains, the little neck pasta is probably the best pasta I’ve had in Toronto. Perfect balance of acid, salt and fat with a perfectly cooked noodle. The fish was great, but honesty a bit rich and big for two people - would be a great dish for a group of 3/4 to split. Still delicious though. Finally, for desert we got the chocolate mousse. It was super light while still having enough structure to hold itself and keep shape. Overall, a fantastic night with amazing food, great music and awesome service. You must go!!

One of the most delightful dining experiences I’ve had in Toronto. The service is exemplary, the food is delicious and the value is outstanding. This Leslieville gem is such a treat with a rotating menu based on season ingredients. Cannot wait to return! PS Andrew is the best server

Super delicious! Had a great time here last week with a friend. The highlight was definitely the corn pasta/ravioli dish. Absolutely stunning

  • 5/5 Isabella 1 year ago on Google
Delicious!! Burrata was exceptional and perfect for summer. Loved the flavor combinations of the Asian pear. Charred escarole, morels, romesco was great. Romesco sauce was flavorful and perfectly balanced. The escarole has a slight bitter taste but I liked it. Lumache, garlic oregano sausage, sugar snap peas, pecorino, stracciatella - was a bit salty and needed a bit of acid. The pasta itself was delicious and perfect texture not too al dente. Grilled focaccia - this was probably the most disappointing. A bit too salty and too burnt. Overall - service was great. It's quite loud inside but lovely airy interior with light wood palette

Been to wynona multiple times and the foods been so comforting and the atmosphere is also great and homie. Definitely get the focaccia and the pastas and grilled dishes were also very good. One of my favorite dishes were their mussels, but they change based on the season, so hopefully that comes back.

The food was excellent. We ordered almost everything on the menu and everything was delicious. Atmosphere was open and simple, and the service was attentive. My only issue is the 90 minute enforcement, which was not advertised. We were politely shoed-off to accommodate for the next table, when there was other tables available. I understand that the tables are limited, but considering our table spent so much $$$, you'd think that the staff would be more accommodating. For that, I wouldn't go back.

Amazing service, great atmosphere and delicious food. We split the albacore tuna and burrata to start. I had the cuddle fish ink pasta as a main and it was spectacular. Great wine selection. Food was so good I could only sneak a photo of the pasta. Would highly recommend Wynona.. especially if you live in the east end. If not, it’s worth the trip.
