Not a fan of hospitals. But had to go, been having some back issues. Very confusing hospital but never even had to ask, there were staff offering to help me and guide me. Holding the elevator and offering their assistance. Very friendly. Had an appointment so didn't have to wait long. The doctor I saw was fantastic and kind. Took her time going through everything. Great experience. 👍

This must be the worst hospital in Toronto. My ambulance was supposed to go to Mt. Sinai where I have been treated for a heart condition caused by the Pfizer vaccine. The experience there was fairly good. They opened the rear doors and I was at Toronto Western General. This place treated me in a inhumane manner. I don’t expect the Ritz Carlton and these are challenging times but come on this place is atrocious. I was admitted fairly quickly but they had no beds. I understand that but I was in serious pain and sleeping on a stretcher was so uncomfortable. But I know this isn’t a luxury hotel and sometimes I need to tolerate discomfort to get proper treatment. . I asked for a pillow and I was looked at like I was crazy person. There are no nurses there to help. I got there at 8am and nobody offered me food or water until I asked in the late afternoon. The nurse assistant threw a paper bag with a rotten sandwich and apple juice on my stretcher. No dinner was offered either. There was a loudspeaker behind my head - every page at the hospital could be heard via this speaker and could not be turned off. This was torture and I couldn’t take it. I ripped off my heart monitor and IV and walked out. I would rather die in my own bed than that dump. I was always a proud Canadian and thought we had a fairly good universal healthcare system but this place is 3rd world quality. This is probably even being disrespectful to 3rd world countries. My cardiologist was nice and willing to listen but other than that my experience was excruciating. I didn’t even wait around for the discharge papers to sign, I just walked out.

March 2, 2021 - Best hospital care I've had anywhere! The doctors, nurses and staff were absolutely amazing. Everyone was so kind and caring. I have a HUGE appreciation for what they go through on a daily basis. Thank you to you all for your hard work and your passion. I hope that everyone can experience the kindness and dedication that I received.

If I could give less than one I would. I have never experienced such awful care. The nurses and doctors are egotistical and do not listen to their patients. They don't explain what they are doing or injecting you with and there is very little kindness. If the care was at least good I could over look that, but the nurses struggle to put in IV needles (I have bruises up and down my arms from the attempts), they openly infront of the patient get confused about tools and they don't communicate what's going on with your care which makes everything much more stressful. Find literally any other hospital if you actually want help.

I just seen that this hospital has only a 3.5 star rating. And I can't understand why??? I've had 3 surgeries here over the last 20 odd years, been in and out of emergency many times with my 2 sons and myself for various reasons Many times over the years, each time the place was CRAZY WITH CHAOTIC PEOPLE EVERYWHERE, Every time the CARE given was AMAZING ALL THE NURSES AND DOCTORS WERE PASSIONATE AND LOVING This Hospital is Probably one of the Best Big City Hospitals anywhere in the World 🌎 GUARANTEED .

They had absolutely the worst Emergency Doctors!! They just left me with severe left eye infection. I am considered one of high risk patients but they didn’t ontleder any of CT scan of my brain neither blood test for me!! Their reason was my eye was only red and swelled up but there was no discharge yet!! They didn’t prescribe any antibiotics or medications for me.. I had to run to see other doctors the other days this is just so cruel of this team of emergency team at Western Hospital. They just absolutely have zero profession and no humanity!! The doctor that saw me her name was Tessa Ringer, MD and Melissa G was the nurse!! My whole process of treatment could be way shorter if they were not that negligent!!! So disappointed that new generation of doctors are going to this path and not helping and believing in their patients.

Had knee surgery done and from the moment I entered the day surgery unit I received fantastic care. At every step of the way I was kept informed of what was to transpire. All staff were friendly, polite, professional and informative. The nurses were very caring. They were concerned with my level of pain and did everything possible to make me comfortable. I could not have asked for better service.

Departments I have dealt with are on top of the game and deliver great patient care. There is room for improvement in terms of communication between the departments and other health personnel at other networks/hospital it would save the patient who is already not so great a lot of headache and would also reduce the room for errors. The place is pretty decent but given its one of the top hospitals the place could use a little bit of an upgrade understandable if they dont want to spend a lot of money but maybe a new set of chairs by the nassau st entrance instead of the two really broken ugly and uncomfortable chairs that are there atm definitely need to go. Covid protocols in place are being followed throughly.

Just a bunch of people who really don't like their jobs. They're rude, never explain anything thoroughly and when you ask as they say "too many questions", they say that they don't know and either wait it out, leave and call back or come back tomorrow. How do hospital employees have the nerve to act so arrogantly when asked questions by patients/ visitors?

Went in to take the COVID test. Very clean interior with all staff wearing masks and properly socially distanced. The rooms were very clean and nurse doing the test was polite. I didn't wait at all for the test and was in and out in 5 minutes. I took the test around 11am and had my results by 7pm of the same day. Great staff and fast turnaround!

I think the wait of 3-4 hours it very decent in the city like Toronto. No complain, I heard people sometimes wait 7-10 hours Nurse who gave me a blanket and made me feel so comfortable at the exam room is the sweetest person ever, Doctor Ringer was so kind and add me feel more comfortable and calmed me down, everyone were super sympathetic and understanding. I’m satisfied with the timing, exam, prescription and advised. Thank you very much for all the work you for us!

Never ever will I even suggest this hospital to anybody even if they have a child, my poor friend, who was only 14, received horrible care. She was not getting any better. She got sicker and sicker and she had a lot of infections but the hospital didn't even seem to care. This hospital is a disgrace and I can't wait to be able to do more research on who to complain to. This is completely unacceptable! I was expecting more from a top hospital. I'm definitely not letting this go.

Charlatans who will treat you with complete quackery. Can't diagnose, guess work only. Highly bureaucratic. Un-professional. Can't follow their own procedures, in some cases don't even know them. Staff cares only about they work position and don't care what they really suppose to be doing. Beware.

I was a bit anxious to go to the ER as I had bad experiences at other hospitals. However, both the ER staff and Neurology team were amazingly through. I came in with a migraine that wouldn’t break, my family doctor had told me to take Advil and sleep it off. The ER team discovered I had a brain aneurysm and a rare AVM in my brain. I was admitted to the neurology unit and was able to be treated/monitored for my condition. The ER and Neurology team (doctors, nurses, residents, patient assistants, etc.) were incredibly empathetic, flexible, comforting and amazing at what they do. This was one of the toughest periods of my life but the emotional support they provided really helped me through this experience. They all truthfully saved my life! I highly recommend this hospital for anything in terms of Neurology. Please keep up the amazing work!!

Terrible ER. With no urgent care clinics open for walk in in all of Toronto and no appointments for two months, was actually told by TeleHealth to go to ER to get an X-ray on a possible ankle fracture. While they were quick to get me an X-ray, waited over 5 hours to have a doctor spend 1min to look at X-ray and tell me results. After five hours, I requested a copy of my X-ray to take elsewhere and they wouldn’t provide. I am now entering my 6th hour of waiting and will likely leave before speaking to a doctor.

Outstanding hospitality and service. Everything of the system is as best as can be. The staff are friendly and welcoming. They have many resources and departments for all sorts of medical needs and research. Dr Bercovici is the absolute best doctor I have ever met as a specialist. He motivates me every time I visit. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Just experience for yourself.

This place is a total scam, Our Doctor was a complete clown who doesn’t care about his patients. After 5 hours waiting, which is no issue but when our turn came to get the diagnosis done, they rushed the patient and didn’t pay any attention to her symptoms or what were her concerns. Just told her that she is over exaggerating her symptoms and she didn’t know what she was talking about, completely ignored everything she had to share. Its sad to see that people like this end up in such positions, who have little to no regard for their patients, who go to them with hope and high expectations. If you have a serious issue please don’t go here and waste your time here.

I was there for 2 days and had major digestive tract surgery. My surgeon happens to be the only one in this part of Canada trained and knowledgeable on a procedure called POEMS, to help those with Achalasia, an Esophageal disease with no cure, but treatable. I was put in a semi private room with very attentive and compassionate nurses and their aids. Constantly saw maintainance in the hallway or checking our private bathroom to clean and leave new towels, supplies and take away laundry. All surgical patients are floors away from covid cases, as are the Maternity ward, nursery, pre-natal and new Mums. 😀 When it came to the second day, my surgeon asked me if I felt ready to go home and resume self care. No getting rid of you just because they need beds. I felt very little discomfort, just what I was expecting. Nothing some bedrest in my own bed wouldn't hurt...... home I went with many instructions, prescriptions and saw a Dietitian too! They didn't miss anything ******

My daughter was taken to the ER on November 12th at 3:45pm with an ankle fracture and was admitted within 10 minutes. Other than the angry woman in admission, the nurses and doctors were an absolute delight. I feel so grateful to live in a city with some of the finest doctors and medical facilities on the planet.

My mom has been diagnosed with Guillian-barre syndrome and she’s currently in the ICU we can’t visit her so we’ve been doing zoom calls for the past 2 weeks day shift nurses are amazing super nice and answered all my questions and explains with details how is my mom doing each day i usually call 3 time a day and try to get a zoom call once a day , Today I had the worst experience while we were doing the zoom call my mother started with suffocating gestures she’s is intubated but she’s conscious she responds with yes and no with her head I asked mom you ok she’s said no I asked her if I call the nurse she knotted her head with yes , I called the nurse she answered very rude she saying your mom is good I’m seeing her she’s just having a anxiety moment and she said please don’t call you already know how she is stop wasting my time ! I stayed quiet with a knot on my thought seeing my mom on the zoom call knowing she was not ok and the nurse not being helpful she proceeded with sorry didn’t mean to be rude so I said I called because my mom is clearly not ok you need to understand it’s mot easy and your being extremely rude and all I said was please help and eh I’ll call in the morning she responded to me yeah I’ll do my job ! Honestly if your thinking in becoming a health worker or anything that goes with helping people and you don’t have the patience or love please don’t study this profession it’s hard to have a loved one sick but it’s harder to know the person in charge is rude and not caring and extremely disrespectful! Other than that day shift doctore have been super helpful in every way just this specific nurse in the icu has made me feel soo disappointed and sad knowing my mom will be in her hands during night shifts 😥

The triage nurse was super nice but the doctor was such a nightmare. He kept asking me every question five times and when I answered right away behaved like I wasn't answering the question and I didn't understand him. Turned out all he wanted to hear was that my chest pain didn't exist! Why would I have gone to the ER if it wasn't unbearable pain in my chest???

Someone was puking in the waiting area and calling out in pain. He was left there for about an hour with a puking bucket. Not sure how sanitary that was for the rest of us.. and made the long waiting experience even more painful. The doctor also spend a few minutes with me after 4 hours of waiting. Didn’t explain my X-ray or blood work at all. Just said to look at it online and that everything looks good. Felt like a waste of time to be honest.

The nursing staff at this hospital are absolute angels! My Nana suffered a stroke 10 days ago and has lost her speech and is paralyzed on half of her body. The nursing staff have shown so much compassion and really have a calling for what they do. They have given is peace of mind during a very difficult time. I cannot thank them enough.

I just underwent a Gamma Knife radiation procedure at Toronto Western and I have nothing but positive things to say! The nurses were absolute angels and so pleasant to be around. As a student practicing in health care, I know how important good bedside and patient care is and these ladies surpassed the vibe check. Big shout out to the RN Rhoda who was overly kind, accomodating, and even stayed late after her shift was over to make sure my ride was here to bring me home. You guys rock!!

I wish I could say something good; however, I cannot. I want to say my surgeon was not at fault, it was during intubation that my trachea (windpipe) was torn by 3.3 cm. I nearly died as I was sent home with discharge papers that stated - allergic reaction to one of the meds I received during surgery. Hats off to Ajax hospital who diagnosed me with subcutaneous emphysema and Oshawa Lakeridge performed emergency surgery to save my life. Unfortunately nobody accepted responsibility for the error at this hospital. Six months after my surgery I have a 24 cm incision on my right lung and I'm still in excruciating pain 24/7. The quality of my life has been altered forever. I get out of breath easily and the pain where the incision is insurmountable.

My experience at the emergency department was excellent, which was quite unexpected. There were very friendly and helpful staff at the entrance directing people to where they needed to go, everyone at the registration and triage was kind and professional (despite being constantly shouted at by a mentally unstable patient accompanied by 3 cops), there was virtually no wait time to get to diagnostic imaging, and I got two doctor's opinions about my condition, and they were both very friendly and thorough. Five stars, would recommend, if you were ever unfortunate enough to have to go to a hospital.

Had two surgeries and maybe 6 appointments in the orthopedics wing. Stayed for about 2 days overnight for first surgery. While I really don't like having to be in hospitals, things went as smoothly as one could humanly hope for. One receptionist was a bit curt, but other than that the technicians, assistants, nurses, etc. that I dealt with were 98% golden. Some very friendly folk there and a few who went above and beyond to help me out.

This 5 star review goes to Anne Cayley and the stroke team, the nursing station and the ER department. One of my family member was admitted under their care due to stroke recently. If it wasn't for their humanitarian, compassionate and proactive professional care the circumstances in our family would have been very different today. It is true that not all heroes wear capes, and these people are the real heroes of our society. Thank you very much for all that you do everyday to go above and beyond to help others and save lives. May the universe look after you in the same way as you do for the rest of us.

I was a walk-in at Toronto Western's emergency room yesterday and I couldn't be more pleased with my experience. In 4.5 hours, I was assessed, seen by a doctor/tests ordered, CT scan performed, blood work done, results/final analysis explained, meds/prescriptions given and discharged. A truly well-oiled machine. Thorough, efficient and caring treatment from the nursing team, technical staff and Dr Jahangir. I arrived as a hot, anxious mess and left with peace of mind / clear path forward. Thank you team.

Okay, now I want to start off by saying everyone was super nice. They were very nice. Now, I want to ask you a question. If you were a nurse or doctor, and you had a patient who broke their heel and severed their Achilles tendon, you would put a casting on the back of the foot to protect the heel and Achilles tendon? Well, I got casting to force my foot down on any hard surface and there is no protection for my injury in the back. Like, please make it make sense.

I was here last night for a broken ankle. Everyone from security, porters & the nurses were wonderful. Thank you to the security guard who saw me struggling and wheeled me through registration & triage. Also thank you to all the very friendly (and funny) staff in imaging and radiology. Dr James was lovely, and had me casted up and on my way in less than 2.5 hours. Hopefully won’t be back anytime soon, but a great experience nonetheless :)

The nurses are amazing here, but when you are trying to give a time of day to update on your health when seeing a specialist the doctors seem very uncaring. You will get calls from a “Unknonwn Caller” and can miss their phone calls as that now is a blocked feature, and have to wait up to 5 days for a return call unless some chance a receptionist has answered (stress warning) If it wasn’t 2 years to wait on a new Neurologist I would be asking for a new Doctor

It was discovered that my father had a giant brain aneurysm that miraculously did not rupture but was causing excruciating pain without any relief. We were made aware that it was a very challenging operation with many possible complications. While we had a hard waiting period of several weeks for surgery, it was 100% worth it. The surgeons were ultimately able to save my fathers life and the MRI post surgery showed no strokes. He is still recovering but making big strides with each day. I thought it was important to write this review and experience because there are so many negative reviews about emergency and for anyone going through such a stressful time with a sick loved one, it's reassuring to hear that you can trust the amazing neurosurgical team are the best of the best! Wishing you the same experience. Edit: my father has continued to improve without any complications and we are incredibly thankful to everyone that treated him with care and consideration. Words cannot express - thank you

Three seperate occasions coming here, I come here as a last resort even for emergencies. The first time I had issue with my breathing and I spent 5+ hrs in the waiting room. All the staff had gone on breaks and forgot about me until I literally had to go and ask when someone would see me and told them yet again that I needed assistance, only then they moved me to a room and had me lay down on a bed for 3 more hours which they then forgot about me.. AGAIN. The second visit, I was dealing with a reaction to the covid vaccine. The second time I was actually able to get in and get help in a reasonable er waiting room time. I understand that the waiting is long but at least I wasn't forgotten this time. Only issue was it seemed that every nurse and doctor was told a different thing each time and I had to explain everything again. I got prescribed a puffer thats steroids actually worsened my condition and I got better only after I stopped using it. The third time I visited and now writing this review. The front desk staff wrote that I did not have a hard time breathing DESPITE that being my main issue. It was the triage station nurse that asked me my issues and then asked why it was unchecked (difficultly breathing) I was livid, the nurse had to update it and then I was finally able to go back and wait. The third visit they didn't do anything further wrong. I just ran out of patience and I will just try my luck with a different ER

The same rude triage nurse from when I came here pregnant in 2008 with chest pains after being diagnosed with blood clots in my lung is still here!! I came here that time in 2008 to inform them that my chest was still badly hurting and my blood thinner medication dose might be too low and she laughed right in my face and told me to go home and eat a sandwich. I'll never forget her face. I cried so much over that incident. I would have died had I listened to her stupidity because later that night, the doctors advised me that my dose was in fact too low and then increased it. So my visit was VALID. Today I come to the ER and she says there's no point in my being here for my severely noticeable swollen shoulder. HOW THE HECK IS SHE STILL EMPLOYED AT TWH IF SHE OBVIOUSLY HATES PEOPLE AND HER JOB!? I've never had an issue with any of the doctors here or any other nurse...besides her and only her. She's an awful human with zero respect and consideration for other people and their feelings. She's useless and clearly only there for her paycheque. The one star is solely because of that disrespectful triage nurse but I still appreciate the awesome doctors that have cared for me here over the years.

Please go to another hospital. This js the worst experience possible in ER. You have to be dying for someone to take a look at you. I went to get a surgery, I checked in at 11 am, blood test done at 11 30 am, then ultrasound done after 9.5 hours. The team does not communicate where the doctors are, if you can leave to get food or not, and there is internal communication confusion. I've been waiting for over 12 hours just in waiting room. We didn't have to wait for Ultrasound, the report they were looking for could have been done through a CT scan. Go to any other hospital than coming here.

Many fantastic doctors work out of this facility, however like most if not all of Ontario patient care has plummeted to well below minimum expectations. Senior nurses who remain continue to provide phenomenal patient care, however new and often inexperienced nurses have had to be hired due to a mass exodus following COVID and many of them are simply not up to par. My daughter's stay was full of incidents that can be considered nothing short of malpractice. Her surgical team was phenomenal but the care afterwards was abysmal. If you are going to have to stay in this hospital as an inpatient, you absolutely must have someone there advocating for you. Unfortunately this is the state of affairs pretty much everywhere in this province now. Our already precarious healthcare system has been completely obliterated.

I am a patient currently sharing a room with Naija who felt very strongly to voice her opinion on her experience but is not as tech savvy and she would like. These are her words: “My name is Maija Henning I have been to 8 different hospitals and this is the best one I’ve been to. The social worker, Robin, gave me confidence and reassurance that I will go home. The nurses are fantastic; I will probably gain weight because the food is so good. This is the best hospital I’ve ever been to. I am very lucky I ended up here. Very slowly, I’m getting better thanks to Toronto Western staff. Very many thanks to all the nurses, psychologists, physical trainers. I am so thankful that I ended up here and not St. Joseph’s.”

I had a decent experience here a week ago. I was checked in and admitted within a reasonable amount of time. Probably 15-20 minutes to see the intake nurse and then another 25 minutes waiting to get registered and another 15 minutes or so to get called to the back. They are following covid protocol to the best of their abilities. Everyone has masks on. In the back of emerge after you go in they have spaced out everyone decently and there’s plexiglass between all chairs (in front too). They did quite thorough blood work on me which I was very happy about. I also was treated nicely by the triage nurse and the attending doctor. My first doctor actually had his resident student see me and she listened to EVERYTHING I had to say which made me feel heard for once because all my symptoms were being discussed prior to this visit. There’s a bit of a privacy issue. I think even without covid there are no rooms (atleast where I went) just curtains so I heard what everyone was dealing with. One nurse I saw bugged me at first because I thought he was irritated at me for not wanting to get bloodwork. He was kind of sarcastic and said “so your headaches gone then” when I was saying I was nervous about getting iv and blood since the last time I was at emerge I got a blown vein and fainted. He came back a little while after and stayed with me and was understanding so it helped. When I saw the doctor I was met with a nice male surgeon who actually looked at my previous files and said he knew my doctor from another hospital. He offered me the option to treat my symptoms and go home or wait to do imaging which helped because I would’ve had to wait until April. There are some pros and cons. I would definitely go here if I was experiencing an emergency again. HOWEVER I removed 2 stars for specific reasons but they are things I’m sure that can be improved. I understood that other patients would probably need a bed over me considering my issue but overnight atleast 3 beds were empty and I was never offered to lay in one. It was pretty uncomfortable to sit in a small chair for HOURS. Another thing I didn’t like was they never told me an update during the night about how long it would take to get the imaging. Around 11-Midnight the doctor had said I’d be there for a while so I thought to myself Ok I probably won’t go home before 4:30-5am. I was not seen again (except once around 4 to draw for bloodwork) until like 8-30 am. I thought they might’ve forgot about me so I went to ask the nurse what I was waiting for and they said mri called in the middle of the night and said call back at 8. I wish they told me so I could’ve slept in my chair or wish they atleast offered me a bed. After doing my imaging in the morning the tech was nice but straightforward. Again I could hear the patient in the next beds situation. After I came back to emerge from imaging no one plugged my iv back in which started taking its toll because I had not eaten or drank anything for almost 2 days. I asked someone for help and she said in a minute but never came back. No one really paid attention to me and I was now sitting in front of the nurses desk area which was getting irritating. I caved in and had to ask for ice chips because I felt so dehydrated. This was making my pain worse. I told a nurse it was weird they didn’t plug my iv back in when I came back from imaging. She proceeded to plug it back in but I thought it was gross because my iv line had been hovering above the floor upstairs. Anyway the doctor from midnight saw me in the morning and apologized that I’d been there all night in a chair. He gave me info and discharged me. I was just concerned because no one looked in my ear the entire time and they wouldn’t have looked up my nose either had I not asked. Ask to see your records online and register its very helpful.

I came to the emergency room last night for heart palpitations, chest pain, jaw pain, and tightness in my upper arm. Everyone treated me kindly and with respect from the start of my visit to the end. The ER doctor, Doctor Cho, was very kind and patient. He took time in answering my questions and listened to all of my concerns. The nurse, Sonam, was also great in explaining what type of tests would be conducted. The triage nurse was also amazing too. Thank you to everyone who helped me out during my visit.

Wanted to like this hospital. They simply do not care. I recently went there for a foot injury and a couple of leg scars. They told me to go home. Just imagine (in a perfect world) if we could recoup all those wasted tax dollars and use them for quality health care in the private sector? Public health care sucks...

Nice and friendly staff who go out of way to help patients with their needs. Wait time is long for visiting er but it is common across other hospitals in the province. They attended to my needs and provides me with the right diagnosis. I am thankful for everyone who works here.

I have been coming to TWH for my MRI follow up appointments and today’s 3:45 pm appointment was the best - from registration to MRI staff. They were professional, friendly and caring! Thank you very much for providing the TLC needed to get through this appointment with little anxiety - much appreciated!

I would like to send my deepest appreciation to the nurses on 🦋 the second floor who got me ready for surgery June 22-2022 , Dr. Lore-no who put me to sleep and never left my side. Dr. Dean Elterman who is always doing his best for me. I am so blessed to have such an amazing staff at Toronto Western Hospital; each and every time I’ve been admitted, right from walking in the door the staff is professional and friendly.❤️ Everything they have had to cope with these last few years, truly didn’t seem to phase each and everyone i came in contact with. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your fantastic care.I know it hasn’t been easy at times , but I appreciated everything.❤️💋 Im sure we shall see each other again.❤️💋❤️💋❤️

Yeah, I just want to say that since I got as soon as I came to merge. I find that all the doctors nurses, they're all nice polite. They are very helpful so I give this hospital. This hospital is really. It's really big, it's very. I find that this hospital is very helpful for me. Then all the other hospitals that I go to and that I've been treated really well at this hospital instead of going to the other one. I also have a friend who works there too

From my very first visit in2022 to my surgery in November, the treatment and cordiality I've received was first class. The info booth, receptionist check in and the medical staff were so caring and gentle it made my medical situation easier to handle. The MRI department was also great, and the technician really put me at ease! Kudos to drVaelette and everyone at Toronto Western Hospital. Thank you so much!!!

The hospital itself is spectacular. Like any other hospital in Ontario, it has the same problems with staffing as everyone else does. Somehow, it is the staff itself that made my visit there, "morely gooder". A couple of small hiccups, but we got around the problem. I would've never received the same level of care and compassion locally. Thank you for respecting me as a patient, I will not forget your kindness.

Nine hour wait to see doctor nothing given for pain was in hell, they botched putting my shoulder in place and medication was delivered as the IV was done wrong and a litre of saline went into my arm a week later it's in severe pain everywhere. Everyone was incredibly rude, total chaos, third time I've been through hell here and they kicked me out in the cold with no way home at 4am couldn't carry my backpack and they wouldn't let me charge my phone for one minute to get an Uber and they refused to give me anything to eat or drink even after the procedure when I could because ´I was discharged' without any hearing from the doctor. I will sue!

Have been coming here over the course of a few weeks to plan for my fiancées surgery. Finally, his surgery was yesterday and everything went well. He was sent to the 9th floor for recovery where the nurses were all so fun and easy to interact with- they may not realize that their positive attitudes really transfer onto their patients and their families. In fact, everyone we have come in contact with from receptionists, to nurses, to surgeons- have all been amazing. Our healthcare system is a mess- with shortages, wait times, and all around stressful situations- but that doesn’t take away from the amazing people who show up to work and CARE for their patients. Forever grateful for everyone we interacted with during this process. Thank you Toronto Western & Staff for changing his/our lives for the better!

I applaud the Toronto Western Hospital for taking the steps and not to be taking Anti- Vaccinated people into their hospitals. Those people don't deserve to be treated.. They are selfish and do not Care of others. UHN is A professional health network. ONTARIO PROFESSIONALS

I have been coming here for years and let me tell you it's one of the cleanest and we'll maintained hospitals I have been in. From information and security do nurses and surgeons I have had nothing but the best experiences here... Even though once was surgery related but the experience was a calm and comfortable one.

Waited 8 hours in the ER and another 10 hours in the ambulatory clinic of a partner hospital. They did nothing. No MRI. They referred me to 3 specialists but not even one of them has booked me. I call them everyday and no progress. There is a pool of blood on my back in the area I was injured since last month. I’m in SEVERE pain. I have nerve pain and My back is going to explode from the pressure of the blood. I needed URGENT surgery and they refused to bring a specialist to even assess me. Horrible experience. Shame on this hospital and the entire UHN and shame on Canada’s non existent healthcare. They leave you for dead.

I went there today, the securities were unprofessional on top I had a bad experience with the Chinese guy at the reception, while filling the Info, he keeps asking me to hold my Ohip card still, he then said OK you are good, and when I try to put my card back inside my wallet, he asked me to show him again, he did 3 times and he was laughing with his colleagues, they know what they are doing, very sad people. I hope that brought you some happiness poor souls.

The triage team, nursing, and emergency doctor have not treated me properly, nor diagnosed well. The next day I was admitted to another hospital emergency, that diagnosed well, opposite to western hospital, the triage and nurse team handled professionally and properly. My experience at Toronto western emergency is bad regarding emergency doctor, and triage team.

They are good professionals and love their work very much. I was in the line for about 10 minutes which is not bad compared to other places I have visited before. The machines are working and in good shape. The other one star is left for next visit. Thanks

Amazing. That's what I think about every staff member that I dealt with when I had my surgery earlier this week. Thank you. Thank you for your kindness and professionalism. Thank you for the work you do each day. For the people you take care of, running from one person to the next, putting others in front of yourselves and not always being appreciated for it. I'd buy you all a coffee (or beer) if I could. To the doctors, nurses, anesthesiologists, CT staff, administrative staff, security guards, porters and everyone in-between. I appreciate you all. Thank you.

IDec. 20th, 2022 I had day surgery with Dr Dean Elterman and his team. From the time I entered the hospital, the gentleman at the reception desk, intake nurse, the nurse in pre-op, or, recovery, porters , environmental services, (sorry, I didn’t get names) excellent service above and beyond service. I realize how understaffed/shortage of employees hospitals are facing. But, the team that works here didn’t let that affected them at all. Kudos to all you. I’ve had several surgeries and I can truly say this hospital was the most organized and comfortable place to be. 5 star in every area!!

If I was a doctor, I would go out my way to explain what's happening and I would be more compassionate and empathetic. At the end of the day, that's the profession you choose--so you should be able to do it the professional way to all patients. :) :) Just saying

My husband was having chronic debilitating leg pains and decided to go to emerg here at Toronto Western. What type of hospital has no wheelchair in emerg?! The nurse told me to “find a wheelchair together” and “look for security, they might have wheelchair” and left me without a trace! A “world-renowned” hospital that can’t even provide a basic device for transporting a patient? How embarrassing! We ended up going to Sinai that had actual wheelchairs!!!

My grandpa just got given a notice to live of 4 weeks, We live an hour away from Toronto, He’s been in the hospital for about 2 weeks now. Yesterday my dad and I decided to go visit him. when we got there and got into the room the doctor was already in there and was okay with us staying in the room with him. After we went down to the cafeteria and came back up with food, a nurse stopped us and mentioned that “there’s only 1 visitor at a time” But that’s not true as the NHU website said all covid restrictions have been lifted and there’s up to 2 visitors at a time!!!! My dad and I mentioned that the doctor was okay with us both in there and that the online guidelines say otherwise, she then got very argumentative and aggressive towards us which was very unnecessary. We then walked past her and went into the room to give our sick grandpa some food, The nurse then came back in and yelled at us one more time that there is only one visitor, my dad mentioned that my grandpa (his dad) was on his deathbed and he couldn’t understand why she couldn’t just us be. She then kicked us out with security a couple minutes later. Super disappointed in this hospital. This all took place on the 9th floor.

This is an amazing hospital with staff who work hard and do their best at their best they can no matter what. Of course, things take time to figure out what may be wrong (by doing some tests) or what is going on (pain or just any reason you are there), but the staff, nurses, and doctors never give up. My best friend was admitted to emerge then transfered to 9B Fell Pavillion a few weeks ago, and I have been there multiple times before and just 2 weeks ago, and I must say, the staff at 9B are absolute angels, especially the PSW Joanna, my best friend and I just LOVE her and she makes the visit and stay a positive one!

Do not go to this hospital unless you want to be mistreated by nurses (on 8th floor). They are beyond unprofessional and rude. It seems as there is no communication between doctors and nurses which the patients pays the price for. The nurses basically run the show and over ride doctors. This hospital is not UHN potential, it is a disgrace for UHN.

Worst hospital ever! Do not come here for anything ….they suck at everything they do. I was sent by my ophthalmologist saying that I would need immediate care and attention, waiting for almost 6 hours and they rudely said you would need to wait for more time. I am not sure what URGENT means !giving them a single star is way overrated and that only because I can’t give anything less than that.

Absolutely no complaints about my recent emerg visit. Everyone from the registration nurse, triage, nurse practitioner I seen, CT staff, SO friendly & welcoming. Left the hospital feeling good about the healthcare system since all I've been hearing is negative remarks in the media. Also note, my entire visit was 3&1/2 hours - pretty good to me!

Came here with a broken finger (pinky). I was looked at right away. But I did wait a few hours for my X-Ray. Doctor was absolutely amazing. Surgeon Doctor was very friendly helpful and made me feel comfortable. Emergency department was not busy at all. A lot of homeless individuals came to get warm and got some food.

If you require medical care do not go to Toronto Western Hospital. That is actually what it says on their website. The government is letting them down and they are taking this out on their patients. UHN is the worst hospital network imaginable. They should do to Western what they did to Wellesley. Close it forever!

This is the worst Hospital in Toronto I believe based on my experience. The hospital was very unkempt the doctors that saw me in the emergency department both were very unfriendly an lacked compassion, they lacked professionalism. I was sitting in the waiting area an I could hear the doctor telling the patient what’s wrong in the open space no privacy. I am not sure but something is wrong as a health care provider I expected to be treated in a dignified manner I felt so humiliated and disappointed most of all sad to see what Healthcare has come to. I would advise people if you can go elsewhere go. This was a hospital I loved I came many years ago used the service then and it was good now deplorable. Even when addressing me the Doctor was talking so everyone could hear.

I am almost 70 years old, and I had no idea that hospital care could be this good. From the doctors, the specialists, the technicians, the nurses, and even the lady at the coffee shop - all of them treated me (and the other patients around me) like we were important, and treated us with care, warmth, and friendliness. NOBODY seemed like they were there just to earn an income. They ALL truly took an interest in what they were doing, and it showed in the way they patiently attended to us. They were all great at what they did, but even better, they did it with heart. Thank you TWH!
