My mother entered the palliative ward under the promise she would face life’s end with comfort, care and dignity. The opposite was true. The first day the nurses had confused her orders and failed to provide the means for her to be hydrated. Six days in they abruptly moved her without informing us. When we went to her room and didn’t see her we were shocked and thought she had passed away. We were told by the head nurse this was standard practice. Aside from one very pleasant and kind doctor we found the staff totally lacking. Very little was done to communicate with us, to comfort us to provide us with the feeling my mum’s life mattered. We felt so totally let down. I didn’t think after the nursing home transfer it could get worse. Boy was I wrong. The whole system of care is broken. It is truly shameful.

Both in the emergency service, in the MRI and Ear Nose and Throat sectors, the employees serve you badly, impatiently, bureaucratically, arrogantly and are rude. Of course there are rare employee exceptions and thank you very much to those few! You try to complain and they respond even worse, justifying their behavior with cynicism. I think it's the hospital culture, you have to be arrogant and impatient to work there. They really think they're doing you a favor. And they seem to hate working there and take out their frustrations on those in vulnerable situations. This is cowardice. A shame! I just want you to be treated the way you treat patients when you are patient. And maybe you will wake up. If they feel busy but seem to think that the rest of the world has a lot of free time and they are at your disposal and ready to be your punching bag.

We are having our first baby here. We've been going frequently(due to our high risk pregnancy). They are amazing, and accommodating!! They have helped so much....every need, and question has been addressed and taken care of. In my opinion, one of the best labor delivery floors, ever!!! Keep up the fantastic work! Oh...and see you in a few, on our way to have our daughter....today!!!!❤

My grandfather passed away in the ER a few weeks ago. The nurses and palliative care doctors were very attentive and compassionate. They made his passing as painless as possible and checked in on us regularly. So a huge thank you to them. Unfortunately, we had issues with security in front of the ER. The doctors and receptionist explicitly told my whole family that we were permitted to come and go from the ER building throughout the day to get food and take walks, as we were confined to one room, waiting for my grandfather to pass away. However, whenever we would try to get back into the ER, a security guard would give us a hard time. I would been able to overlook the inconvenience of explaining the situation to them multiple times, but in my grandfather's final moments, some of us were trying to get back in, but security would not let us pass. It was awful to see members of my family crying and calling out to my dying grandfather from outside the building as he was taking his last breaths. We could not be there by his side because security didn't know we were allowed to go into the ER. I completely understand that security has to do their jobs and they have been given instructions about whom to let in and when. But we were told multiple times by staff in the ER that we were an exception because my grandfather was on his deathbed. It was incredibly upsetting to have to clash with security all day, and especially in my grandfather's final moments. This lack of communication prevented us from being all together when he died. I can only imagine how difficult it is to be hospital staff especially during this pandemic and I understand that that security has to deal with difficult people every day. I know it's easy for me to criticize in hindsight, but I'm writing this review in hopes that some attention will be given to this issue so that others won't experience what we did. If the policies and communication are clearer between security and medical staff, it will save some families a lot of hurt. Thank you very much for reading.

Thanks to Dr. Pace, Marketa and the team for giving me a better quality of life. The medical system is not perfect and definitely needs an improvement. I am just grateful for all the work put into the surgery I had this week and majority of the staff i interacted with at this hospital were hardworking, knowledgeable and kind.

I am frustrated because the imaging department doesn't answer the phone and I cannot leave a message. As I am not able to go for my CT appointment, I thought it is my responsibility to let them know, so someone else can use the service at that time. But there is no way to do that. I cannot talk with someone, I cannot leave a voice message and I cannot email them. How can I cancel or reschedule?! And the most annoying, unprofessional and unethical behavior is that they make you listen to numerous automated messages, most of which are not relevant or useful to you. They make you push different numbers just to listen to another repetitive message. Even the message asks you to have your OHIP number ready if you want to cancel or reschedule.... I was hoping after listening to all of these tedious automated messages, at least be able to talk with someone or leave a message. But I was not. The last automated message said "Good by"!!!!

I missed my MRI appointment because that was at 12:30 AM on February 10th and I know that was my fault but when I called to reschedule my appointment a rude man picked up the phone and that was weird for me because nobody cares that you have a critical disease and missing that appointment is so bad so he made it on June 15, 4 months later. I was so upset and I said if you get died in canada nobody cares and that man told me “ok so go back to your country”.If someone doesn’t like his job it’s better instead of insulting others. No one understands a patient's feelings until he experiences himself

There are not enough stars to describe how amazing the staff were at this location. In November I had emergency gall bladder surgery and the dr messed it up. I have been having complications since. No one was able to diagnose what was wrong 3 months until Dr May saw me here! He knew within minutes what was the issue. And I’ve been home a and so Far things are better. I would 100% recommend Dr May and his team if you have any stomach related issues DO NOT GO ANYWHERE ELSE! I ended up having 4+ laparoscopic procedures to fix the screw up that the gall bladder surgeon did. I’m still having issues but a lot better. Thank you Dr May and to your team!

My dad just had a quadruple bypass, the care and attention he receiving is incredible and putting us all at ease. The surgery went perfect and he's doing very well. We can't thank you enough, after a few not so great experiences earlier after his stroke at other hospitals in the east end (not all their fault staffing issues are brutal) this has been a night and day difference. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts 🙏🏽🙏🏽

St Micheals Toronto Emergency Triage is one of the worst places to find oneself when you are sick and in need of help. We were repeatedly asked by the triage receptionist, 'Do you want to see a doctor 'YES OR NO' ? 'YES OR NO' Not one of those people we tried to talk to in triage in order to figure out if we were in the right location bothered to even read the referral given by our Ophthalmologist to see a specialist at the retina clinic for a detached retina. We were lucky that the specialist's secretary called to ascertain if we were on our way, None of the Triage staff could be bothered to take a look at this referral though we repeatedly tried to show it to them and explain the situation to them. The Triage staff at St Michael's  hospital need to be better trained! Maybe think outside the BOX once in a while and learn the fine art of listening to the concern first prior to triaging patients.

Had such a positive experience with Dr Wong and his staff/ eye clinic on floor 7-8. Everyone is so caring and you can see they are passionate about their jobs and do a thorough examination and tests. It’s my second time coming here and the feeling is still the same, this hospital is where you wanna be I can only speak on the eye section but I have no doubt the rest of the hospital is top notch as well.

I called about 9 pm to get information from their main line and the male operator was curt, rushing and generally unhelpful, which does not leave me with a good impression of this hospital. I gave two stars because the day shift operator was much nicer.

I had a day surgery in this hospital. It was my first time to have a surgery with general anesthesia, so I was quite nervous. However, it didn't take much longer to figure out that there was no need to be anxious at all, as all the medical staff who treated me were so kind and friendly. They naturally eased my anxiety. Each time I interacted with each of them, I was quite impressed by their professionalism. After detailed explanation of what would happen, my surgery started on time and went well. I am so greatful for their dedication and hard work. Thank you so much.

I found out my son was admitted there the day before so I was calling in to find out what is going on. They transferred me from one department to another many times. The main switch could not find him and eventually said we can't find him, sorry. I asked if they can look up to see if he was there on the previous day, but they just said "No, we cannot do that, bye" . Very rude, not helpful and I get it is busy but just imagine how I am feeling now not knowing. And they won't let you come in due to COVID. I guess they don' have computers there, they should get some it would help, maybe they could find patients then easily and fast and won't sound so stressed and overworked? I do realize this is really another failure of our government, they are the ones who all need to be fired!

Been laid up in the ICU at St. Mike's for the last few days and felt I needed to express how excellent the nurses and staff here have been. If not for them I might have fallen into a dark hole with my injury but they've all supported me and given me hope. Doctors get the glory but it's the nurses and support staff who are the heroes and whatever they get paid, it's not enough for the level of care they've given me. Something unlucky and unfortunate happened to me and if it had to happen I'm glad I ended up under of the good people at St. Mike's providing world class health care

Dr Wilson is an amazing neurosurgeon, who repaired my ongoing back pain. He performed two spinal surgeries on me in the Fall of 2020, I have since fully recovered and cannot thank him enough. His entire team, including Tom Willis, were remarkable. Thank you!

Recently had a benign facial tumour removed. Pre-op, surgical team and post-op recovery staff were great. They kept me overnight in the transplant ward (only available bed) and there was almost a complete lack of care. Drainage tube, IV, BP were not checked and IV drip was set to very low so nurse wouldn’t have to check overnight (1/2 bag of saline in over 8 hrs). Also, I’m diabetic and they made no effort to check my blood sugar or feed me (due to pre-surg fasting, hadn’t eaten in 30 hours) til the following morning. Complete indifference by night nursing staff

Our son was born this morning at St michaels and I can't say enough great things. The nurses and doctors there were all super supportive and had nothing but encouraging words. When things went sideways, they gave us clear explanations and explained the options available. Very happy with my experience.

This hospital deals with more crack heads and the most sruged up people then any other hospital. I came 2 times to this hospital first time I came I waited 6 hours and was treated very badly. I have the benefit of the dought that they were just having a bad day but I realized after the second time that this the norm patients doing crack in the emergency room washrooms and the nurses are so rude. They know you have been eating patiently for over 6 hours and they said "if you don't like it you can go to another hospital" after 6 hours the know you don't wnT to loose your place in line but I left anyways. This st Michael's doesn't deserve a single star and there are so many hospitals close by and don't need this abuse from no one especially a hospital........ Anyone who reads this and then goes to this hospital anyways will wish they listened ..............

Came in after my mother was brought in emergency by ambulance. Those guys A+ they knew what to do. Then this started. From 530pm and well it is 3am now and we are still waiting to hear from the doctor’s guess or expertise for what may have triggered my mom’s situation. Doctor paid us a visit at 130am to just ask questions and check her vitals. Mom was then given IV only at 145am even though she had already told the short hair cut with blonde dyed hair nurse that she had only ate yesterday in the morning. He didn’t catch that back at 630pm. We are still here and we just may have to move in bc there seems to be only one doctor working while 20 nurses mixed with hard working ones and then the ones who seem to have the time to sit almost the entire time we were here. I wish we had been given an opportunity to go elsewhere. It feels like the healthcare system here is absolutely the last resort.

The services my wife got here were fantastic, everything was on time and was very smooth. The staff was so polite and helpful during my wife Preeti Sharma surgery. Till now the best experience in Canada. Yes Canadian healthcare sucks and we have faced that. Never mind . But this hospital was really great 😊

I was at St.Michael's hospital this year. This hospital is amazing. Hospitals are scary. If I knew just how amazing this hospital is, I wouldn't have been worried. I saw a Victoria, a Jennifer, and a Naomi as well as several nurses. They were all so helpfulness and kind. Even after discharge, they followed up with me several months later. They all deserve a huge raise and more paid time off. The prayer temple spot for worship looks like church. The hospital feels holy. I can't thank St Michael's Hospital and staff enough. Thank you so much and God bless. 🙏

I had to go for an MRI. I was bit uncomfortable, never had an MRI before, but the experience I had was awesome. The kind and professional care which was given to me felt, as if I am "The Patient". I was very comfortable during the entire screening process. Thanks to the greeter for the proper directions to the lady at reception, Technician Luke, Molly and associate, who were all attentive to my needs competent and were good-natured.

My friend is there now. Has been there since noon on Wednesday October 11th. Laying flat on her back, waiting for surgery. Has not been offered food or a drink since she's been there. Was told Sunday would be her surgery, she's still waiting. Tomorrow October 17th will be a week since she's ate or drank anything. Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. Our pets get better treatment than humans. St. Mikes should be ashamed of themselves.

This hospital is one of the few in Toronto I trust with my family and my life. Dr. Latter saved my husbands life by repairing his mitral valve and the staff are amazing. I was admitted twice to Cardiology and the nurses are awesome the doctors are fantastic and the support staff are friendly. ER wait times are lengthy but the treatment and the care is totally worth it.

I was seen in the ER while in distress, very depressed and very suicidal. I had made this all clear to the doctor I saw, Dr. Salama, the psychiatrist. She had absolutely terrible bedside manner and was incredibly rude. I had made my suicidal thoughts and intentions known to her and the team in MHESA frequently. I was brushed off and told that I was not going to be admitted because "of all my previous admissions" and she "didn't see it beneficial to me''. So she sent me home knowing I was suicidal. I came to the hospital for help and hot nothing but trouble from this doctor and the team in MHESA. I'm disgusted and hesitant to ever return to the hospital again

Dr. Samantha Marriage saw me at the ER. She was so kind and knew how to manage my combine symptoms of physical and psychological pain. She went out of her way to try to help me in what it was in her power. Thank you for your great and valuable job, I’m so grateful to have the blessing of this hospital with such a caring staff near me. Even when I went for x-ray, one of the workers saw my gown was open on the top part and offered to assist me to close it, even though I was so sick I didn’t mind leaving it open. Great experience, thanks again!

I had an accident while at work where I fell off a ladder and broke both my wrists. I was taken to this hospital and was here for over a week. I felt that they did a very good job. The nurses and other staff were always really nice to me. It was a bummer to have them come in every couple of hours to do tests and take blood, so sleeping was difficult, but that's not their fault. My only big issue is that communication was sometimes difficult with the doctors. There were so many involved, and being drugged up half the time, didn't fully understand everything that was going on and when I had questions, it was hard to get straight answers. But I am better now, so that's the biggest positive. Overall, I think they did a pretty good job.

My three past experiences, two of them I experienced good doctors and staff, and one experience was not good at all. So it is a hit or miss here. Better than some hospitals these days where there is a 90% chance of a very bad experience.

Was very disapointed, i was first time autistic mom who was very traumatized by pregnancy, despite self advocating on numerous occasions that i needed to know EVERY detail the surgeon failed to give me ANY details pertaining to my elective cesarean under general anesthesia leading to a meltdown the day of surgery which could have been avoided! Very disgusted with my treatment. Not to mention the used my severe phobia of needles against me and treated me like i still have a choice when i have absolutely no control over it. You would think that medical proffesionals would have an understanding of phobias and differences in severity and not use a disability against a patient which is not only shameful and not fair but also unethical. The only reason i gave 2 stars was because I didnt die from surgery, thats it. Also doctor provided NO followups. Had to use telehealth when i found out i got an infection from the wound.

St. Mike Hospital is an excellent hospital that boasts a team of highly skilled and compassionate doctors and nurses who are at the top of their game. They provide exceptional care to their patients, and their dedication to their profession is truly commendable. Recently, one of my family members was admitted to St. Mike Hospital for surgery, and I was truly amazed by the level of service we received. The doctors and nurses were incredibly attentive, and they made sure that my family member received the best possible care throughout their stay. However, it's important to note that the hospital is quite old and is in need of some serious renovation, especially the emergency room and waiting rooms on the floor. Despite the hospital's current condition, the doctors and nurses at St. Mike Hospital continue to provide exceptional care to their patients and work tirelessly to ensure that they receive the treatment they need. I can only hope that the government will allocate some funds for the hospital's renovation so that it can continue to provide high-quality healthcare services to the community. Hats off to the doctors and nurses at St. Mike Hospital for their unwavering commitment to their patients despite the hospital's current condition.

Neighbor had 7 - 11 guests in hospital room for 3 days and nights. I was told there is no limit to the amount of visitors a person can have at one time. Security & Medical staff agreed. There was 13 ppl in the room. There was 7 yoga mats on the floor and everyone was dressed in pajamas. They were on zoom meeting too passing different laptops for family around the world ina circlef Iwas like recovering on the food court at the mall with a curtain up. Lady came to my door saying I cannot have anything for pain and she refuses to use Tylenol for me. I'd not seen her before. I beeped again and they brought me a Tylenol and said that woman is not supposed to be answering calls. [Then who is She?!] Triage Nurse told me I was just constipated and hyperventilating on purpose and I didn't need meds. I've been here for a full week. I'm dying and there's blockages on all my organs. I'm on highest pain meds now (opiods) and they wouldn't want me to leave but upon entry they said I was inventing it in my mind.. Upon Admition, as I walked with one arm on dripfeed & one using my cane to walk due to an amputation I'd received [@ st mike's, as a kid] a Nurse named Karen, in a bad mood, yelled "Oh, constipation makes you not walk proper? you never learn to walk?! YOU Walk normal right NOw! This is how you walk at home?"

I was just there last night for severe back pain. ( June 16) The wait in the Emergency was reasonable, and went faster than what it estimated on the board. The doctors that I had were very personable and understanding to my needs. And I did not feel rushed at all. After my test results I was greeted by a nurse in ER by the name of Monica. She helped me in the washroom to avoid falling. And when I told her I was hungry she helped me get some sandwiches and water. The staff was extremely personable and caring every step of the way. It really stood out to me, in comparison to other hospitals. Great discovery/experience for me , since I just recently moved to the area and that's my local hospital now. Thank you St. Mike's

I am extremely disappointed with the unprofessional and unethical service I received during my recent visit to St. Michael Hospital. My scheduled MRI appointment was on July 14, 2023, at 10:00 AM. Despite informing the hospital about my delay caused by a severe traffic accident, the staff showed a complete lack of empathy and professionalism. The person handling appointments was rude, angry, and even screamed at me, creating an environment of fear and intimidation. As someone who had been eagerly awaiting this h MRI for two years, the significance of the procedure cannot be overstated. It is deeply disheartening to experience such unprofessional behavior from a healthcare facility. Additionally, when I tried to address the issue by visiting the patient relations office on the first floor or calling them, my attempts were met with no response. To my surprise, the office was closed when I arrived. I strongly urge the hospital administration to conduct a thorough investigation into this matter and take appropriate action. Patients should feel safe, respected, and supported throughout their healthcare journey, and the conduct I witnessed fell far short of these expectations. I sincerely hope that St. Michael Hospital takes this feedback seriously and implements measures to ensure such incidents do not occur again. The well-being and satisfaction of patients should be a top priority for any healthcare institution.

THERE IS A NEW SUPERHERO AT THE HOSPITAL! Dr. Melo a new young incredible doctor has joined the 8th floor eye unit. Dr . Melo had to be one of the most efficient, compassionate and nicest doctors I have ever met. Spending time with each and every one of her patients explaining all their questions and concerns . Taking the initiative to help people and fix their eye emergencies including working double shifts and extra long hours to handle emergency cases. St Mikes is truly blessed to have such a dedicated/talented and compassionate doctor . I had a medical retinal detachment and so did another member of my family . Dr. Melo did such as outstanding job with her work on both of us. We cannot thank her enough . An outstanding superstar doctor who puts her patients first before anything else !!! Thank you

Excellent hospital. Thankful for all they did to save and care for my loved one over the past 5 weeks. Lucky to have such a well-run, world class Healthcare facility staffed by caring, highly skilled medical professionals in our city. Personally love the mixture of old and new buildings too, gives a sense of its history and evolution, while being completely modernized inside.

Unfortunately the mask policy does not appear to be enforced for patients, visitors or staff. I am high risk and felt very unsafe with so many unmasked people in close quarters. I had to ask several people waiting to enter the elevator with me to go back and put masks on. A hospital should be a place for vulnerable people to be able to access safe healthcare.

I had my baby in this hospital and the truth is my experience was incredible, it was all very fast, I was not afraid thanks to all the love and humanity that the group of nurses and doctors had with me. A very nice and kind treatment, I feel grateful for having had my baby in that hospital, as my mother was also born and I felt very emotional since she died and could not be with me at that moment. Everything went well and my baby is very well thank God 💕 Thank you to the entire St Michael team

My mother had a hip replacement surgery at St. Michael's Hospital. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Khoshbin, my mother's surgeon and Dr. Hamdy anesthesiologist, nurses, medical staff and the personnels of the hospital. Everybody was nice and very helpful. From 6 am in the morning, they had smile on their face and act professionally. They were so punctuate and every step was done on-time per schedule. We did not have good experiences at other hospitals and I don’t usually write reviews. This time, I would really like to share the great experience I had and we hope these great people keep doing great. Thank you so much.

So disorganized in the Cath lab. Writes down for us to be here 2 hours before surgery, and not even open until 7:00 am. Clerks are way to busy chatting to get people registered in a timely manner. Hire people that will not be lazy and keep things running smoothly. Shouldn’t be this behind when the Lab just opened up.

St Michael’s Hospital is filled with amazing Doctors, nurses ,community that truly care about patients. Dr. Julian Spears and his team are spectacular. I was there for 10 days and always felt safe and in good hands. Thank you St.Michaels

St. Mike's provided me with incredible care when I was suddenly admitted for emergency brain surgery, and 2 weeks post op care. Unbelievably caring and empathetic healthcare teams, and non medical staff. I have, and will always ask to be taken here, if ever in need of emergency healthcare in Toronto.

It’s sickening on how poor the service can be. A friend of mine is already very sick he needs oxygen and pump to clean his lungs was send to st.michaels for bronchoscopy. After they put him in a big serial and he waited 14 hours they did his bronchoscopy. 4 days he called his lung specialist for the report and finds out the bronchoscopy wasn’t done correctly and the equipment had issues. This hospital didn’t ever care to call and inform the patient about this neither did they apologize. It’s a shame for a country which is so called advanced has a system so poor especially in a hospital at the heart of Toronto downtown.

Very efficient MRI appointment. It’s definitely a “no frills” experience if you’re used to high-end foreign hospitals. But they have lockers and updated equipment and decent security protocols. Only thing they could improve is the general welcoming and customer service experience. The guy welcoming just said asked for information before providing any pleasantries. Some patients might like this barebones efficient customer interaction, but I think they could add a little flair if they tried.

my father went in for a routine surgery a couple of months ago. he ended up having multiple strokes during it, we never got a clear answer as to why. i get it mistakes happen, that is not why i’m giving the bad review. this review is solely based on two things: an ICU nurse named Oksana and the PSWs working in the ward. Oksana was hurtful, rude and uncaring. my father was in the ICU for about a week. this was extremely scary for us, she showed zero compassion, and actually told us he was a “keeper” in there. she acted as if she was a doctor herself, talking over us and giving us her personal opinion on things. she told me to reach out to the supervising doctor to get a family meeting set up, but wouldn’t tell us why. it freaked me out, and when i brought it up to the doctor she had no idea what i was talking about. needless to say it was just fear mongering. the PSWs were also not prepared to handle the intricacies of the breathing tubes, etc that many of the people in the ward used. i liked the doctors however Oksana made this already horrible time in my life 100% worse.

I find it is very difficult to communicate with the staff treating the patient. My husband was admitted for treating some worrisome medical condition, and I only want to get updates from the primary physician regarding my husband condition ( which is permitted by my husband). All I want is a few minutes talk with the attending physician to answer the concerns regarding my beloved one, but unfortunately, all communication channel was blocked, not able to reach the attending physician. Why it is so difficult for a patient or a family member to get some explanation of their illness ?

I prefer to go to this hospital because near my home and because in March they treated me well. Last night, however, something didn't go right. After the typical screen to understand if you have COVID-19 or not, despite having a blatant attack of gallstones, I am put in green code around 2 AM. They leave me sitting in a chair in the corridor for over half an hour; when finally someone notices my presence and perhaps compassionate me he sends me to a room, he tells me that he would come back immediately for analysis. Too bad I've never seen him again. Well, I am left in the small room from 2.30 AM until 5.45 AM, without having done a blood test or being visited by a doctor. Since no one took care of me at 5.45 AM, I ask to be able to go home, although I still feel bad. Obviously, in all these hours, I have seen several doctors and nurses go by, but nobody has deigned to visit me. I understand one thing, if you have different symptoms than COVID, you are not a patient who deserves attention. Good to know I'll treasure it.

A doctor at this hospital didn't take a patient seriously when she came in with a hurt shoulder joint. According to him there was nothing wrong and it should heal itself while also being incredibly rude but its been over a month the shoulder has not gotten much better and she needs physical therapy because of it. I should mention that the patient was a women of colour so please be careful and always stand up for yourself. Every patient deserves to be taken seriously.

Evidence of conservative efforts to privatize OUR health care facilities is on display here. I was instructed by medical staff at Toronto Western Hospital that if my pain management plan didn't work that I should go to St Michael's because they have a urology department, which treats kidney stones.Unfortunately I had to avail myself of this advise three days later and after the medications via IV kicked in and I was feeling much better I asked the staff why the hospital couldn't treat the issue while I was there. The urology department was closed so I would have to go home and wait for the clinic there to call. I stated that the system was obviously broken if the treatment has a wait list of up to two weeks and it closes on the weekend. This upset the emergency ward nurses, I was told, so they (doctor and nurse) accused me of yelling at them which is code for "shut up" and that I should be grateful for the help they provided because I didn't have to pay for it. It occurred to me that the plethora of new urology clinics in Toronto may be why the hospital urology department is closed on weekends. Could it be that the "free" health care services competes with the private clinics and the government is saving money by keeping the service closed? The fact there is a wait list of two weeks clearly demonstrates the need for the urology department's services yet it is not meeting the demand and intentionally forcing desperate patients to the private sector. Yes it is intentional. To what level of service will we allow our health care system to sink before we say enough. Health care-in a TIMELY EFFECTIVE way is a right. I gave this place three stars because both doctors(one) and nurses(one) did the very minimum and less in terms of providing health care.Over the course of the 7 hrs I spent in their charge I saw the doctor twice for a total of 2.5 minutes and the nurse, approximately 6 minutes and this was an Emergency Ward where for some time I was the only patient there.

I was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation 19 years ago at age 49. For 5 years, although I was seeing a highly recommended cardiologist, the medication I was prescribed did little to help me. I was a regular visitor to emergency because my heart would go into an irregular rhythm for hours. Finally I went to St. Michael's Arrhythmia Clinic where Dr. Mangat treated me. He was very kind, listened closely to my symptoms and immediately changed the medication and, as a result, my life. After the years of an inability to work, due to exhaustion and stress, I was once again able to continue my work as an artist, My only regret is that I didn't see him sooner. I cannot praise him enough. Four years ago the pharmaceutical company that makes the drug, that controls my particular heart condition, discontinued its production due to the relatively few patients that need it. This particular drug, which is a life saver, has no substitute so there were no other options for patients. St. Michael's, as well as other major hospitals, successfully pressured the company to reconsider the decision and provided us with the medication until it was again available at pharmacies. Finally a friend, who had recently been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, experienced the same difficulty getting it under control. I urged her not to wait as long as I did but to get an appointment at St. Michael's Arrhythmia Clinic as soon as possible. I have since received a very grateful note saying she took my advice and now has her life back. Thank you Dr. Mangat , the Arrhythmia Clinic and St. Michael's Hospital.

I was booked for an appointment at the kidney stone clinic, after arriving I found out that the office was closed that day for a holiday. I traveled from far, paid for parking and was very disappointed. I contacted patient relations and they were pretty helpful, by offering to reimburse me for the unnecessary parking fees. My procedure went well, the doctors were nice, but they still lost a star for giving an appointment on the wrong day. I was not the only one waiting for the clinic that day either.

St. Michaels emerge is absolutely terrible.. I ended up leaving because I was so uncomfortable there. Upon arriving I went to take a urine sample and had security knock aggressively and yell is anyone in there I responded various times but he proceeded to enter. When he saw me in there he screamed in my face in-front of the waiting room SPEAK UP. I was embarrassed and appalled at the aggression for simply using the restroom. Many people came into the waiting room aggressively yelling at other people the room was full of police who looked entertained rather than looking to ensure everyone’s wellbeing and safety. I felt so unsafe in the waiting room I asked what the wait times were like and the desk staff responded with why are you in a rush or something? I said no I just don’t feel safe over there. He told me to sit at other chairs. Security came over aggressively asking is there a reason why after you were specifically told to sit over there you’re sitting here? I said I didn’t feel safe and they told me I could sit here. He responded with I’m watching from behind the (bullet proof) glass you’re fine get up please and move. I was completely out of the way and felt much safer. At that point I had been there for hours and they said it would be hours longer despite not seeing anyone coming in after me.. the waiting room was basically empty at this point. I had also submitted a urine sample that was all blood. Nobody seemed to care about your health or safety. I just felt like the biggest burden in the world for simply trying to take care of myself in an severe health circumstance. Please go to Toronto general hospital so you can be treated with respect and good care rather than humiliated, yelled at and ignored.

I was fortunate enough to be referred to Dr Marcus Burnstein after I had my colon removed. He improved my quality of life tremendously after my J Pouch reversal procedure. It was a 2 -part surgery so my stay was 7 days first surgery and 4 days for the final surgery. St Michael's is second to none in care and professionalism. From the Admitting clerks, PSWs, technicians, nurses and surgeons I felt confident and reassured that I was in good hands. My PSW was so gentle, empathetic. I felt special. The Gastrointestinal floor nurses were supportive, encouraging and caring. I feel so blessed to have this quality of healthcare in my beloved country. My family and I are so grateful.

Absolutely disgusted with the lack of care provided to my father in law. He is visiting from Peru and had a health issue well out for a walk, through his travel insurance a doctor was sent to our home. The doctor determined he may have had a mini stroke, and advised h should go to hospital. The insurance company said we needed to go to St. Michael's even though we live in caledon. My wife took him there and sat for 4.5 hours in the ER. Many other people went through the doors with a major of them coming after him. They had no choice but to leave at 3:30 in the morning as he was having a hard time staying up and focused. I have no doubt he was treated this way because he was there on travel insurance. So disappointed with this as I am constantly talking about our great Healthcare in Canada. The insurance company will be getting a phone call and I truly hope they never send anyone back to this place again.

Maybe I'm naive, but I thought a long day commuting to Toronto would mean some good quality care. Nope. Dismissive doctor who didn't listen and kept interrupting. I've been having pain for so long and every time they so easily brush it off, it cuts a little deeper (figuratively), I should have known better than to hope for some adequate care in this messed up healthcare system.

Staff are very dismissive and don't bother explaining anything to patients. I came here to the ER and ended up waiting 7 hours to see a doctor. It took me over an hour just to get triaged. I understand things can get busy but for some reason this hospital does not staff for the volume of patients they see. I would avoid this hospital at all costs. It's honestly THAT bad

The Nurses & Doctors were exceptional, deserving of a 5-star rating; however, the hospital's overall layout and inadequate facilities detract from the experience. Regrettably, the absence of vending machines and water fountains creates a notable inconvenience for patients and visitors, particularly those suffering from coughs or other ailments. Despite the obvious distress caused by persistent coughing, the admission staff appear unresponsive to patients' needs, failing to provide basic amenities or address discomfort in a timely manner. Moreover, the hospital's limited space necessitates that patients return to the general seating area even after being examined and medicated, compounding their discomfort. I waited about 9 hours, which is kind of the average wait in general, so nothing special.

I came here for procedure to be done. I didn’t want to go to this hospital in the first place because I knew that this place is dirty dingy place. I stay correct. It looks like it’s 1950s. A consistently frustrating experience. We will certainly be looking into other hospitals. I gave this one chance and chance again. Malpractice every corner. Great staff. Dr. Das performed a craniotomy on me where I underwent a microsurgical resection of recurrent cerebellar hemangioblastoma. In October 2019, l moved to Canada to study after my first surgery back home in February that same year. Just one year after my first surgery, I had to go through it again at ST. Michael's Hospital, Toronto. I was devastated and I still remember the tears in my eyes at that time. Dr. Das is such an amazing surgeon, he was friendly, the optimistic for my outcome, assured me he was going to take the tumor out and I will be fine after the surgery this time. Is been 3 years now, a great relief for myself, family and loved ones both in Canada and back home. At every point of hopelessness, Dr. Das keep reassuring me for the best result. Dr. Das, you are indeed God sent. God Almighty bless you and your entire team 🙏. A kind surgeon, very empathetic, caring and supportive.

Our experience was 50/50 . Surgery was done and everything was excellent. Staff , doctors and nurses. But the overall stay at the hospital for 5 days was not that great. In this summer heat my husband was admitted to a room with no air conditioner. Extremely suffocating and difficult to sleep. I kept on requesting the nurse to please change his room , they would just brush it off saying its ok thats all we can do.

My family member has an appointment with a psychiatrist, Ilana Shawn, who does out-patient appointments. This doctor canceled THREE appointments. When the appointment was finally coming up, she had to be on standby for court. They did not answer the phone but she left a message explaining why she would not be able to attend that appointment and explained that she would now need to wait until court was done since THE DOCTOR CANCELLED THREE APPOINTMENTS. Then what did they do? They fired her as a patient for 'missing ONE appointment.' They didn't care that they put her life on hold for three months, but she needed to reschedule ONCE and they did this? This is the worst hospital for mental health assistance hands down. If you need help mentally, you need to go to a different hospital because these people don't care about you.

Absolutely world-class care at this hospital. My dad was admitted for Spinal Surgery... Everyone from the surgeons, to nurses, to RTs, physio team, are stellar/spectacular. In particular, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude and thanks to Dr. Ginsberg, Dr. Ku, Dr. Maham, Dr. Goffi. Neuro-Trauma ICU nurses: Adriana, Ron, Denise, JJ, Andrea, Jen, Marcie, Nicole, Paul, Patrina, Jesse, and many, many others. Got assaulted on the street and had to get an ambulance. They billed me super late and I called them 3 times when I got my first statement over a year ago. Because they mishandled my case and it took over a year to get me a proper statement and also because they couldn't find my name on file, they charged me full price for an ambulance, when I had an ontario health card. Their department for handling payments and charges mislead me at every turn. I had to pay 240 out of pocket. Worse service in my entire life. The canadian health care system is a joke. Pathetic excuse of a department, pathetic excuse of a hospital. Deny all ambulances. They'll charge you $240 because of their mistake.

I was really anxious and overwhelmed by how big the hospital is but I was able to find my uncle relatively quickly thanks to the staff and they made me feel less stressed out. Thank you

I had a surgery under general anesthesia on February 29 at this hospital. I would like to thank Dr. George his team and the entire nursing staff and support workers. Hands down the best care I have ever had in a hospital. Everyone was friendly, and courteous ensuring that I get the best of care. I went in there very anxious since I was waiting for this surgery for a very long time but my anxiety was gone once I realised that I'm getting the best of care. I can not say thank you enough for the good care I got. Once again thank you Dr. George and the entire team. Please keep up the good work. Andy L

😠 Staff on the covid floor are crazy and not doing their jobs properly! My mom had not been turned over for 7 hours and it's important to turn patients every 4 hours. The nurse that I complained about approached me the next day pointing her finger at me asking me why I had complained about her. Staff...

😠 My family always ends up at this hospital but we have too often had bad experiences. They seem understaffed and overworked nursing staff will not treat patients with very compassionate care. I've had a family member misdiagnosed by a doctor there as well, which sent him spiralling worse with his ill...

😠 Had an appointment for 9 a.m. at Mount Sinai for a high risk pregnancy consult. We were unable to have the ultrasound done until 10:30 a.m. and then were told that I had to get blood work and to come back in an hour or two for the results. Another nurse told us to come back after an hour, yet my par...

😠 With all due respect, the clinic doesn't feel like a medical center anymore. It feels more like a luxury lounge or wellness center. First, I don't find appointments at the time of the need (slots are usually booked for 2 weeks), and when I find one, those are canceled without any notice. I just had...
