I'd rather die on the street than come here. Majority of the nurses here are disgusting and hate their jobs, why they decide to work in a field they hate I'll never understand. My grandmother was admitted here during covid when family wasn't allowed to visit and she said the nurses would not check on her for hours, she couldn't walk and needed help going to the bathroom and she would call and call for someone but nobody would come. I've had nothing but bad experiences at this hospital since the day I was born - they broke my arm a few seconds after I was born and then blamed it on an inexperienced nurse. My mom almost died after giving birth to me because of how bad the doctors/nurses here were. You're better off taking your chances at home (or on the street). Don't bring your loved ones here.

I wonder why different hospital have different visitor policies in Ontario. I understand that there are Public Health Restrictions in place, but how come it does not apply to some hospitals in the region and at least one (same) visitor is allowed at those places. At least given if a person is hospitalized for a long period, shouldn't the hospital allow at least one visit a day? Think about mental health of the rest of the family, kids, spouses, parents, room mates etc., not having to see how the person is doing at the hospital instead of calling, calling and calling the nurses and not to mention no body answering the phone at times. A hug, a familiar face, a smile can go a long way in healing.

Same old. They can watch a dying person die because there’s literally no sense of urgency. The ambulance handlers are wonderful. They hand you over and it becomes a mess. From waiting up to 4 hours in pain for the most basic stuff to questions getting deliberately ignored. Of course it’s easy to hide incompetence behind Covid these days but these people have and will forever be like this. Super unfortunate and unfair. Spare yourself the trip if you can especially if you have an alternate way of relief.

I would give 0 or negative stars if I could. We all know hospitals aren’t that great but this one takes first place for being the worst. My grandmother was on the 6th floor of this building and the treatment she gets is honestly awful. She had countless urinary infection just by being here. When we asked for a doctor to see her because of her pain the doctor did not come for days until we made a big problem out of it. Then we asked for pain medication and no one comes to give her medication we have to keep asking for hours just to get that. When we used the call bell it took them an hour to respond… if they are busy we totally understand but an hour?? During this time I hear staff laughing and walking around but no one came to check. Please make sure to visit your loved one regularly to ensure they are being taken care of. I can’t even imagine what other patients with no family experience here.

Wait times online say 1 hour and 30 minutes to see a doctor, meanwhile I waited 2 hours just to check in. Check in desk is empty while nurses and employees walk by, ignoring the ever-growing line of patients waiting to even just begin the long, arduous registration process. It’s truly criminal what’s happening in this hospital. In the midst of a global pandemic and hospital staff are cramming patients into a small room to breathe the same air for the next 2 hours while they wait to just check in! One of the security guards actually asked a nurse if anyone was working the check in desk, and I watched the nurse roll her eyes and walk away. Absolutely merciless here, avoid at all cost.

STAY AWAY. From the minute my elderly family member went in for surgery the doctors here tried to convince us to pull the plug. "Oh if he doesn't wake up properly there's nothing we can do." I checked his chart, turns out he was being HEAVILY sedated. When I demanded no sedatives, he "miraculously" woke up. For the next couple months we was recovering. Physio would not show up regularly to help. The whole time with constant pressure to just give up treatment and put him into palliative care, which we refused. Then, the doctors called us in because it was an emergency: he had developed internal bleeding and would be dead within 24 hours. 8 days later he died, no sign of internal bleeding. He died of starvation and thirst because they didn't tell us palliative care meant they would just starve him to death. There was no internal bleeding, no bruising, no blood pooling. My opinion is this hospital is all about saving money and does not value the life of elderly people beyond they expense they are.

I wish there was a rating lower than one because this hospital is actually horrible. Staff talk on the phone all day, eat while on the job, not attentive, constantly making jokes amoung other staff members, and more. I had one lady who was doing blood work on my arm. Before inserting the needle, she chooses to make conversation with a co worker about issues within the work place. That was highly unprofessional, irresponsible, and could've led her to I injecting my arm without proper care and attention. The emergency room needs plenty of work to be done with regards to training their staff. Considering hospitals have significant wait times and pressures amoung ensuring patients are properly taken care of, that does not negate the fact that courtesy and professionalism should be relevant at all times. Highly disappointed in the service received upon every visit with this hospital.

Had a very negative experience yesterday..came in to the emergency department when i had a severe headache, neck pain, ear pain that i could not tolerate around 7pm. It was not busy at all. Registration was pretty good. When i came into the doctor. He said you look perfectly alright. Why did you come here in emergency, wasting our time. He told me that emergency is for those patients who are dying, had a bullet shot, who cannot see at all, who are dizzy and cannot walk at all. He did not even ask me what my problem was. Just saw me and told me to walk and i walked and told me that i look alright to him and told me You can go now. Like seriously, this is the treatment we patients get from Doctors in Emergency. Felt like crying. Worst experience in Etobicoke hospital. Will never go there. Please terminate that sick , non hearted doctor right away who does not even care for his patients at all. So disappointing. Minus stars, stay away from this hospital Please.

This is the worst hospital ever. Emergencies takes hours to be acknowledged and get done with. I was here around 4pm because I couldn't take the pain from my lower abdomen. I haven't eaten the entire day because it was painful and I also can't eat because I need to undergo ultrasound tests. I only got out past midnight and I was starving and I only felt worse while waiting for my results. They did give me a pain reliever so I was able to manage through with my abdominal pain but I was feeling dizzy and starving and nauseous starving in the waiting area because they are taking forever! There's a lot of staff on deck, some can't even hear you when you walk up to them because they're wearing earphones. Most are just laughing and talking which was really irritating. STAY AWAY FROM HERE IF U WANT BETTER PATIENT TREATMENT

Lack of emergency care from nurses and one technician (and one doctor) almost cost me my life - suffered ten hours in severe pain and had to have emergency surgery. Surgeon said "I had a half hour left to live". Surgeon was great however. Too bad I have to still have another surgery since I became septic waiting so long for help! RESPONSE: I did call patient services 3 MONTHS ago and someone from the management team was supposed to call me. No one did so that is why I left a poor and honest review!! HOPEFULLY things will improve for everyone involved.

Cannot even give a 0 star. My 4 yr daughter fell at school, cannot move her arm and is in alot of pain. We have been here for 3 hrs and stil did not reghister at the Triage. There are people that have been here before us and still waiting including a little boy with a cut in his ear. Very disappointing for a Canadian Hospital, why all the renovations and you cannot even staff the place properly? Cannot even updat the wait time notification properly. 8:50pm still waiting to be registered at the Triage 9:17pm still waiting to register at the Triage

Very disappointed with the lack of post partum care at this hospital. I felt the staff was uneducated and led on fear. They did a rapid test on me which was positive, they did the full test but never told me the result. My doctor informed me, after i left the hospital that he had recieved a negative result for me. The staff at the hospital did not inform me of my results. They isolated my husband and me during labour and delivery, fine no problem as i had support. Then why was he not allowed with me during post partum? Make it make sense. They isolated me and my baby anyway, so why couldn’t i have a support person with me? The labour and delivery nurses were great, and so were the doctors. The mother and baby unit nurses were not so great. One nurse told my husband to hurry up and leave - told him not to talk??? But kept asking him questions and giving him instructions. They were wearing full gear too. My husband was rushed out, i didnt have half my things i needed as the nurse said “no one is gonna help her take her bags at discharge”. No one informed me of after care for my body. No pain meds no ice packs no ointment nothing. I asked for pain relief myself. I told them i needed support, i am in pain, i am dizzy(!!!!) - the nurse told me “you're fine”. When my husband tried to come back to be with me during post partum, the nurse said “what will you do?” - perhaps he will support his wife who couldn't move to care for her baby as she needed to. What if i fainted? How would they know? No one checked on me unless i called them. They were too scared of covid. Which i did not have and no one told me the results of. Very sad and disappointed. I am a first time mom. No one provided adequate education on breast feeding or caring for my baby as they were too scared to be in the same room long enough. Even if i had covid we had passed the quarantine period recommended by the province. The mother and baby unit nurse told me she doesn’t believe in the quarantine period recommended. - but she’s believing everything else she is told? The labour and delivery nurses checked up on me periodically, kept me informed, asked for consent with all things. The mother and baby unit were not kind, with exception of Patty - the only nurse not afraid of me and actually did her job and actually allowed my husband to come at discharge and help me - unlike the nurse who said i am on my own. This was jan 10-11 2022. I loved that i was located conveniently close to this location, i was told the staff was great by close family and friends, but the lack of care i experienced, i would highly recommend another hospital if you will need support.

Beautiful hospital, Hwy 27 is still under construction. Lots of parking available close to emergency and wellness centre. My nephew had a surgery on his hand due to a football accident, the day of surgery only one parent was allowed, surgery was scheduled for 1:30 pm surgery didn’t happen till around 8:30pm it was very difficult and over tiring for just one parent to be at the hospital and other parent who was just outside of the hospital waiting in the car for so many hours. During this difficult time it’s not easy for anyone to be at the hospital. I would ask the staff to see if we could have bit more support for the other parent to take turn to be with the child. I am sure this will help all the parents who are going through the same situation. Thank you kindly

Nurses don't care about looking after patients. Never explaining. The older the patient, the less care they give. They give wrong exams, no follow up. The level of care would be MINUS 3 stars. Many of the nurses should be let go. They are too entitled. Same goes for many of the doctors. Best to go to Mississauga Trillion.

Worst experience ever. A one year child who is severely injured and is bleeding was asked to sit and wait as there was a waiting period of one and half hour. That infant was continuously crying in pain. The service of the doctors was good but what is the use of those emergency services if they are not given in a timely manner. The waiting time for the adults and other people is understood but why infants are being treated the same way. How will you justify that?

It's the slowest ER ever! You have to wait in general waiting area, unequipped with anything to make the waiting easier, literally for hours to be seen. Everything is moving so slowly there. The staff is slow and walk around with indifferent and bored looks on their faces... People with small kids that needed emergency attention, including us, were left there seated for a very very long time, unattanded. No direct attention to children that came in EMERGENCY. And after you've waited for hours in general reception to be seen by a nurse, who is clearly yawning while talking to you, you are sent to yet another waiting area to wait for another 1.5 hour+ to see a doctor. Staff and receptionists, again, are indifferent, slow, bored and rude. We never made it to the doctor though. We left home! Like many others did cause they probably felt they'd feel better just by leaving this place. Have you ever heard of patients leaving ER cause they actually gave up to be seen??? Well, seems to this ER it's a regular thing. And the receptionist casually told me that it's always like this here and we may want to go to a private clinic instead to get a faster attention... So this was a shocking experience. We feel deeply deeply concerned and disregarded and are definitely going to try to take actions on this experience, where a child was not given a proper medical attention on site. And this is in Canada, Toronto. Where the tax off our salaries is the highest.

I unfortunately have had several emergency trip visits over the years. But my visit today at this hospital has been THE WORST. From waiting 2 hours just to register, to waiting 1 hour to see the doctor and then another 3 hours to do a blood test and x-rays!!! While waiting in the x ray waiting room people kept going before me, including the people who came after me. When I approached the desk, the attendant LOST MY FILE!! abysmal service, staff walks around laughing and chatting, they operate with no sense of urgency or care. This place is a mockery of “universal health care”!! Save your time and go elsewhere!!!

If I could give a minus amount of stars I would. The emergency service at this hospital is absolutely atrocious. The staff are very under qualified and unprofessional. There is just so much disorganization going on at this hospital. I spent over 12 hours in the emergency and I still have not received a response from anyone and had to attend another hospital to find out what was wrong with me. Upon arrival, there is absolutely no direction, and if you sit and try to be patient, this does not help, as you get overlooked. The staff do not know what they are doing. There is no coordination between the staff and doctors and no one listens. Don’t go to this hospital you might end up dying instead of getting help. Management needs to step in and look at the work done, or should I say not being done at this hospital. Avoid at all costs.

NIGHTMARE of an hospital by so far, after them delaying us over 1 week in delaying SURGERY for my mom and making her STARVE daily nor being able to drink water as surgery had to be done empty stomach. They moved us from one room to another room and then another room, each time it just kept getting worse, until the last room which poor mom and I had WATER LEAKING on us. Few times we mentioned to the nurse and they literally laughed about it and said to just put a blanket over your head. I understand and we been patient as we know it's not a hotel but this is ridiculous and don't wish this on anyone. HORRIBLE experience and will definitely be the last time we bring anyone here. So please if you can avoid this hospital, do so.

A visited to the emergency dept with my daughter(Faith) recently and the experienced was great. Recommending the whole team in the ER from the doctors to the RN who attended to my daughter. The RN who dealt with us throughout the whole time I was there. I must praised her for her effective communication, her passion, sincerity, empathy, professionalism and most importantly her patience. I salute you 👏 guys for your work hard and dedication.

I came to William Osler to deliver my daughter (my first baby) back in December and it wasn't a great experience with the hospital (the birth itself was great). My husband and I found them to be disorganized and once I had given birth, I was very much left to my own devices. Each nurse who came in to check on my daughter and I seemed to have different information and seemed to expect me to just intuitively know what to do. I'm lucky I have a very supportive partner who was there with me every step of the way, but if I had to do this alone (for example: if it was 2020), it would have been a very scary experience. I do want to note that there were a couple of really wonderful nurses, but unfortunately they weren't exclusively looking after me and there were some equally not- so- great ones that soured the experience for us. Lastly, they forgot to submit our daughters health card information, meaning she has been without a health card for months and we have had to go into Service Ontario to manually submit it. This has not been ideal with a newborn baby. Unfortunately I would not return nor would I recommend William Osler.

First things first - this rating would give everyone a better understanding of how it serves people which is a serious issue. My review will prove and stress other reviews of people who went to this hospital. One of my friends went to this hospital for their first child birth. Nurses act like we’re supposed to know everything they know. They’re very rude so they almost feel patients feel like they’re not in Canada. No instruction was given to the mom unless we asked for anything. They make you feel down instead of consoling you when you most need it. Kept us waiting for 2 hours until they check the car seat setting in the end.

Worst staff in birthing unit. I was induced with prostaglandin twice. Second time I got strong pain for labor. Doctor didn’t checked me and told me to go home and come after 4 hours. My pain was worst and told them so many times. As soon as I reach home baby almost came out . We called 911 . They took us to Brampton civic. And I delivered baby within 9 minutes. They don’t care about life of others. Very rude nurses and worst doctors.

If there was a negative I would have given that, unfortunately that isn’t the case. This is the worst hospital I have ever been to. My family member was diverted off a plane on a medical emergency and we have been sitting in this dump for 5 days with a 90 year old man who is getting more agitated every day. They have held us hostage here dragging out our stay. We need to leave here and they won’t give us clearance to travel and we need it to get this man home. They are charging us $3000/day and keep delaying clearance or discharge. We have changed his bedding, we have showered him, we have had to ask for meals to be brought to him. We have stayed with him overnight, we have had our meals in the room to be by his side and someone told us after 5 days of helping him we’re not allowed to eat in his room. What an absolute joke!!! The bathroom has been cleaned once, the floors have not been mopped over, general hygiene for a hospital is zero. In a nutshell, if the choice is going to this hospital or death, choose death. You’d be better off and experience less suffering!!

Went there on weekend as i had a terrible headache and neck pain.taken so many medications but nothing improved. Walk in clinics were closed but had to go to emergency. Staff was good. Doctor was horrible. Never seen such a heartless and non compassionate doctor in my life. It was not at all busy. No clue why he was working when he don't know how to speak to his patients. He said what's your problem now? Told my head is paining a lot and my neck is painful too. Told me it's only painful, doesn't mean that you will die. He looked at my face and told me you can go home and not to come to emergency when your head or neck is paining. He also told me that emergency hospital is when someone is dying but you are not dying at all. He also mentioned that emergency hospital is for those who come in an ambulance. I was like shocked by his words. One of the worst doctors ever encountered in my life. So frustrated. Wanted to argue with that rude doctor but i was in so much pain, that i just left for home and cried the whole way to my home. Avoid this hospital at all means

Being born in Etobicoke (1979), there really is no place like home. I currently reside in Oshawa. I broke a bone in my leg and went to Lakeridge ER for help and the experience was horrendous. They did not cast my foot properly or provide decent next step instructions to promote healing. This lead me to return home and go to William Osler (Etobicoke General). THANK YOU TO EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO HELPED ME! The on-call physician was absolutely wonderful. His kind demeanor and PROFESSIONAL CARE was a true example of supporting not only a patients direct medical need but also wellness support. Having worked in mental health as a therapist, I truly saw that this hospital cares! Congratulations to William Osler ER for standing out to be great. I will be writing the ministry to acknowledge further this place. Again, thank you.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Etobicoke General Hospital is truly exceptional! Recently, my wife and I had our baby boy delivered at this hospital and the staff and all the doctors were exceptionally amazing. Despite some negative reviews about the Canadian healthcare system in general, I have to say that this particular hospital is one of the best, if not the best. The staff deserve five stars for their dedication to their profession. They were kind, patient, and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. The hospital was in mint clean condition and the level of service we received was outstanding. My wife and I were both highly satisfied with the care we received from the staff at Etobicoke General Hospital. I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone looking for exceptional care during their hospital stay. The staff, doctors, and facilities at Etobicoke General Hospital are truly top-notch!🏥🚑🏥🚑🏥

Second time at this place and this is yet another example of how taxpayers money is wasted. Last time here for schedule appointment which was delayed for over 3.5 hr and doctor just gave less than a min of his time. This time here for MRI and there is no one here. Waited for long time, walked halls looking for a soul with other frustrated patients. Probably the worst experience in Toronto - this place leads the way!

Doctors and day time nurses of the Birthing unit are great and attentive. I was assigned Joanna and Kellie both were amazing and were there with me throughout the birthing process were great help and am thankful for their service. Dr. Eve Fried and Dr. Chan were wonderful. Highly recommend the place for good experience. Although the night time staff needs some patience and be nice towards the pregnant women as they are dealing a lot already and need some kindness in the situation they are in.

There are rediculous wait times in Emergency Room or even for a scheduled appointment. Help people to be calm by doing little things like turning the tv's on in the waiting rooms. They are there but so few of them are running. I requested that they be turned on and have heard many excuses as to why they are not on. Also add several charging stations for cell phones. It helps people stay calm if the keep busy. Emerge is not a planned trip so having charging stations helps. There are several signs on walls, desks, windows, doors to stay calm. HELP THEM STAY CALM. So much money is spent on the entrances/lobbies of the hospitals to make them look luxurious and spacious but no one sits in the lobbies. They are a pass through. The cramped waiting rooms have little seating and are old and dirty. Making them bigger and cleaner would help. Put in a snack and drink machine. Plus having to pay $17 for parking after waiting in emerg for 8 hrs is wrong. Then having to spend $14 to go back for a 2hr doctor visit is also wrong.

I’d rate this hospital with no stars if it was possible. The service here is appalling. I came in a few days ago having severe pains in my leg so bad, I couldn’t walk, and was constantly crying in pain. The doctor who was supposed to take my blood didn’t look well and kept postponing my blood work to sit on the phone or talk to her coworkers. I had to wait almost 2 hours before anybody even asked me if I’d recieved the medication, which I hadn’t, and when I did the nurse told me the needle would be painless but just before giving it to me told me it would burn. I waited 6 hours for an ultrasound and told them I was feeling the pain in the back of my leg but they would only check the front and my knee. After that they told me it was nothing and I should go to physio and indirectly refused to give me a prescription for the pain, along with nearly no information on my leg, aside from a muscle strain and physio. I’ve been writhing in pain for days. Today I went to the clinic and was told it could be an infection or a cyst and not a pulled muscle. If I hadn’t gone to the clinic, I wouldn’t have know just how bad the infection got and would’ve kept treating it as a pulled muscle, which was actually making the cyst worst. Why does a walk in clinic provide better services than the emergency room of a hospital?

I'm here currently for an arm dislocation. I've never had my arm out this long as I'm hitting the 6 hour mark of my dislocation. I could've driven an hour away to a hospital in my home town and have been in and out sooner. I would recommend enduring any pain you have and drive to a farther hospital.

I have suffered from severe seizures for the past year. After finally getting a doctor's appointment with my GP, he ordered a brain scan and EEG with William Osler. It is 3:00 pm on a work day, and my EEG was scheduled for tomorrow at 7:30 am. You cannot sleep the night before, so I had taken the day off of work to ensure I would be okay after spending all night awake. They just cancelled via voicemail because the ONE tech they have is sick. No 24 hours notice, no compassion, and the next date they scheduled me in for is for over a month away. I am getting on a flight in a week and needed this done beforehand to ensure I was safe to fly. If I suffer from brain injuries while travelling because of their negligence and lack of concern, it is the fault of EGH and WOHS.

This review isn’t even worth a 1 STAR. Totally appalling and unacceptable for a Canadian Hospital to treat a 93yr old cancer patient with total disrespect and disregard of their health and age. This was my mother’s 2nd visit to the ER within one month. They insisted they had no record of her first visit, which took approx 9hrs, nor her 4 day hospital stay. We gave them Dr’s names that treated her, but they had no care and said they don’t know them. She required a blood transfusion, as her hemoglobin was dangerously low. 13.5hrs in the ER and after her blood transfusion was done, the needle left in her arm for about an hour before a nurse took it out and told her/my brother she needs to wait for her results. Since they already knew a blood result would be sent to her Dr., they left angrily and disgustingly. We understand the business and wait times, but 13.5hrs is just not acceptable, especially when you compare people coming in with just a cold and getting treated quicker. We definitely should have headed to York Region. I have been to a hospital there numerous times for senior aunt, never having to wait that long and definitely much more respectful to the aging.

Normally I wouldn’t put a review for a medical facility but you know what? I’m going to make an exception here. For the hospital rep that’s going to put a copy/paste response for how sorry you are to read this review without reading it, save it. People come to a hospital when they really need medical attention. They come there not to be judged or made fun of. Tell me why the nurses and doctors in the ER are making fun of patients? Why are they making up nicknames? Why are they speaking to them in a condescending manner? If don’t have an ounce of empathy LEAVE THE MEDICAL INDUSTRY! Look, I get it, it’s not easy being in the ER. They’re suffering as is with all the drama going on. And yes, this is the ER so it’s stressful and they’re tired. But that doesn’t excuse them to make fun of the patients. Shame on you! Calling people “the fat one” or the “dark one” and other ones I won’t say here. Are you kidding me? I wish I got to my phone in time to record it. Making fun of the vulnerable. Is this what our medical industry has come to?

Based on recent visits to the ER for a sick family member; I have nothing but the utmost positive and wonderful things to say about the Nurses and staff at this hospital. They are truly outstanding Hero’s. They were nothing short of pleasant, helpful and compassionate. They were attentive and genuinely care for your well being. I could not be more grateful. I would never visit another ER and highly recommend this hospital. Thank you for your outstanding work & dedication!!!

Came to ER for my moms severe pain and the doctors here were super thorough with their diagnosis of the root cause! My mom has been having pain for years and no other doctor or hospital could pinpoint to where it originated from. She finally had surgery with Dr. Heisler and had great recovery within a week! Not sure why the reviews are bad, but overall my family’s experience from the first ER visit to surgery recovery has been great! Thank you everyone at Etobicoke General!

My mom needed an x-ray for hip surgery checked in with self serve computer, scan health card gives you a number. The person announcing the # is barely heard over PA system, when I asked about the process I was told they called her #. My mom and didn't hear it. This after 3hr wait! When we registered they ask for health card again Why! We already scanned it at remote computer, now we waited for another 1 hour. My mom is 83 years old it is not reasonable for someone at her age to have to wait that long.

I am very disappointed with the service here. Everybody at this hospital is very incompetent and does not seem to care about people…. you should at least care about people I mean if you choose to get in to this profession. I was diagnosed with 100,000 level of Ck in my blood stream and was told I needed to rest and drink a lot of fluids. I did not get a bed until 24 hours of stay. I got 4 hours sleep then they told me they are moving me to a hallway?? I refused to leave so they said I could stay. They then sent this nice Indian lady to me to lie and say they found a room for me. So she takes me on this journey around the hospital up the stairs and puts me in a hallway beside a staff lounge and staff, which will always have traffic. I have been here 2 days now, no room to sleep and my levels haven’t gone down because they are not letting me sleep. This is the worst service ever . I would never recommend this hospital to anybody unless you don’t mind careless hospitality. They say mask are mandatory, but the are trying to make me eat my food in the hallway????? I am still here no change. They have made my situation worse!! I have asked to see a doctor and still nothing??!! Why would you take me out of my room and place me in a hallway where I can’t rest up? I guess they rather me have kidney failure. Thanks a lot Olsen!!!

I had both my babies here, most recently in September 2021, and I have to say that I was super impressed with the level of care I received. I was a bit worried about it being a pandemic and all but Kudos to all doctors and nurses, I cant imagine how they do it, not seeing their own family or friends, but still providing such excellent care to strangers. I want to say to management, I am terrible with names, but whoever worked on Sept 2nd, all the nurses are super amazing. I was a bit nervous having a male obg to deliver my baby, but Doctor Edward was amazing. I chose to deliver my baby unmedicated, and I am happy that Doctor Edward and the nurses were supportive of my decision. Yeah I did scream down the entire ward for an hour and a half, but I wouldnt change a thing about the way baby came. Even though all the doctors and nurses were masks, they still smiled with their eyes, and were so supportive in helping me deliver baby. I felt super happy that doctor Edward came to check on me the next day before he left for the end of his shift. Both my deliveries at this hospital in 2017 and 2021 was 100% a beautiful experience. I truly believe in positive mindset, I always go in to this hospital expecting a beautiful and good outcome and I always leave with one. I have been in the ER here twice as well for different reasons, and both times, I have been so happy with the care and knowledge that nurses and staff possess. Thank you to all the wonderful peeps who work here. My only suggestion to management would be to spruce up the breastfeeding room, and add a bit more things, its such a depressing room to be in alone if you are going in to pump milk, there is no table or anything to rest things on to pour your milk into a bag etc., this is the breastfeeding room on the main floor, which you use if you are a patient in the ER. Otherwise thank you to all staff and volunteers at this hospital!

Daniel, room service associate came in to clean my room. He has excellent manners and very polite. I felt safe after he cleaned my room. Daniel worked with such confidence, quick, thorough and is a professional at what he does. I think he would make a great supervisor, he is a keeper! Evona gave me my needle this morning and saw how terrified I was, after speaking to me and explaining to me how my experience can be easier, she so gently gave me that needle, it was an experience with a smile, best needle giver! Gentleness and a warm demeanour can be seen and felt, Evona was professional and caring, in a time when the hospital is short staff and also dealing with the pandemic. Taking needles from here on in should be easier for me. Thanks to this loving staff member. I appreciate these two staffs and know that there are much more, but these are the two that stood out the most and I chose to highlight. Thank you Etobicoke General.

My mother is a 4th stage cancer patient admitted to the hospital. She had symptoms of Ascites. Doctor did ultra sound, x ray and confirmed that its nothing and will be ok. Next we took her to Princess Margaret and doctor confirmed after an ultra sound that it is Ascites. How come a doctor not able to identify a disease when I can also see the symptoms. Also, rude nurse not at all helpful. No coordination within teams and slow processes. Nurse don't have a diarrhea medicine and won't convey message to the doctor. When I request a change of mattress as my mother is having back pain on it, nurses want me to talk to the management.

I had a Day Surgery at Etobicoke General; the nurses were very professional, empathic and nice. I had anxiety leading up to the day of surgery but that was all alleviated from my first encounter with the nurse at the front. When I entered the hospital there were clear signs to find where I was going. Someone is placed near the registration kiosk to ask for help if needed. The hospital is also very clean.

Only because I couldn’t give one star. Horrible experience with my 94 yr old father. Left in hallway strapped to gurney for three days now. No indication when that will change. He elderly and weak. Was able to walk independently when he was admitted. Not sure anymore. We asked about discharging him and they said we need doctor’s consent. Limited contact with doctor, had to argue with staff to have dirty diaper changed and then they gave me attitude. I would never recommend anyone attend this hospital. Will make you worse. No human compassion. I understand our system is under pressure and staff shortages are prevalent, but the human component is gone. They need to re-educate the staff about ethics, empathy and what it means to be a “caregiver”.

Entrance was quick despite number of patients there. I arrived in an ambulance. Nurse was peppy and informative. Always smiling. Doctors were helpful and I felt I was treated properly. Second trip there wasn't as nice. Nurses were loud so no one can rest there and my BP and heart rate machine was disconnected for 1 hour before someone noticed it.

They all made me feel comfortable. I would like to thank all the nurses and other staff in day surgery, recovery room, and all the doctors and assistant in OR It gave me a very positive experience even though I had surgery, they were all very competent and kind. My very first time here , impressed very nice emergency Dr very attentive and helps you with your pain very quickly to help you keep at ease but the problem was I was in a lot of pain and wasn't offered anywhere to lay down I was stuck sitting in a chair all night and had to wait for CT scan which I got done at 7 this morning Iwas still in a lot of pain and was told I had to go back and register again to get my results by that time I decided to leave because I couldn't stand or sit anymore with the pain and discomfort I don't understand why I wasn't give somewhere to lay down to keep me comfortable I now cannot get my results apparently until my family Dr gets the report I'm so upset I was there almost five hours in such discomfort and pain n now I'm told I would have to go back n do the process all over again,

I can't thank the Pediatric's team enough for all the kindness, patience, help and love that they showed me and my son. My 6yo son was admitted to the hospital on June 2nd for an accident, and we had to stay for a 24h monitoring. His 7th birthday was the next day. Elaine, Monica, Cathy, Lorrine, Ricki, Dr Luthra, Dr Kanwal!! Such an amazing team. They all sang happy birthday and even gave my son birthday presents! (LEGO, spiderman book, board game!!) A birthday we will never forget. XOXO

Was here from 10:30pm to 8 am the next morning. Miserable experience. Rude nurses. Waiting room in the ER was revolting, we weren’t the only ones complaining. I landed with my son in this hospital in emergency. I returned with my 2 and a half year old son from India, my toddler had a diarrhea for 48 hrs which started in India. Right from the airport I was taken in ambulance to Etobicoke General Hospital. I must say the RNs; the doctors and other staff was very helpful. The moment my son arrived at the hosp, he was checked by the doctor and was told he immediately needs an IV. He was kept in this hosp where I was given a private room which was quite big and clean, and was admitted for 2 days. During the 2 days, he was checked in and out for his pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure and if his body is hydrated or not. He got few IVs and anti biotic treatment and was under complete observation. Although there were times when we had to wait for the doctors to come or wait for his abdomen ultrasound but it's fine as we know hospital is a busy place and each patient is important. After he was discharged, we received a call from the hospital after 5 days to ask if my son is doing fine or not. I was very pleased by their this action too. This hospital is far better in every aspect in comparison to Credit valley hospital in Mississauga.

I had back pain. It was worst experience for me because my condition was really bad and I was unable to move. I told one of the nurse that I need some water and she told me go to the washroom and drink from there. I felt really bad that time because if the patient can stand their own they don’t ask you for that.

Amazing people....I had my surgery time at 8 55 am and they called me at 6 45 am for pre registration. The surgery took place at the exact time. The best part was the behaviour of the doctor, the anaesthetist and the nurses was above and beyond. I was so worried, but they tried their best to keep me relaxed even though they were so busy and the nurses were so polite and sweet. Amazing people!!! I even thought of tipping the nurses but then I felt maybe they won't like taking a tip so didn't ask☹️

Balanced everyone in the waiting room. They took me so fast. Though I was there for many hours, I had a very good experience with everyone. It was my first time being there so I had no idea on where to go or do, everyone I asked was very helpful and supportive. Not often you get to laugh with your doctors (in my past experience). Besides walking to X-ray and different waiting rooms I didn’t have to lift a finger. The man that was attending to me booked my appointment for my cardiologist and made me feel good during my most dreaded part... blood work. Amazing experience. Great staff. Educated. Know how to comfort a patient while in pain.

Last night my daughter was brought to emergency by police after severe maniac episode, breakdown. She had extreme paranoia, moods from crying to laughing. During that period she can be manipulative, which was not recognized by "professionals". She was sent back home with us,also nobody talk to us asking about her symptoms or what happened. Police was very helpful and sympathetic, which I am thankful.

My grandfather was unfortunately taken to this hospital when he fell and was unconscious. They didnt feed him for 3 days and did not clean his wound from falling. They named him Bob because they didnt care to ask his name. The nurses were rude and very disrespectful. The front desk is so rude they wouldnt let me in to take him out from this hospital after he was treated like this. They torture patients here do your due diligence and do not allow your family members here because they will leave them to die and then say they had covid. SAVE YOURSELVES! I Transported him to London hospital where they are caring for him so beautifully and lovingly. I can't even believe I am paying taxes for this non sense.fix your system before I report all of you to the news.

Great hospital. Was brought here via ambulance and stayed about a week. The nurses, doctors and specialists were all very attentive and helpful. I have returned to several tests and outpatient programs and have the same sentiment - the individuals care and put the time into helping find the cause of your health issues and promptly share this information with your family doctor. Having been to emergency, MRI, EEG. ECG, lab and outpatient I would say that this is a very good hospital.

I had the worst experience here tonight. I am 24 weeks pregnant and had to go the maternity wing. The staff there were incredibly rude and forgetful . (Excluding the clerk, she was one person who tried her best to help) after three hours of waiting but being forgotten I decided to leave. I will have to go to another hospital . The experience has enlightened me To make sure I deliver at another hospital.

For MRI appointments they ask patients to arrive 45 minutes before scheduled time. Registration takes one minute, and another few minutes to walk to the MRI room location. Looks like they don’t care about the time of patients. Doctors in Canada are mostly incompetent and this is another addiction to Ontario health care

The team of nurses and doctors (with the exception of very few) are incredibly rude and do not seem to care. I was there a few days ago for an infection and received a prescription for antibiotics under the WRONG patients name. This was given to me by a, “specialist” & trying to get the correct prescription has been more difficult than finding a cure for covid.

Was greeted with such rudeness by staff when taking my newborn in for her hearing test. I initially went to the wrong building and when I asked for help, the lady was just mean and refused to help me. When I finally got someone to help, the individual who helped me sarcastically told me I was in the wrong building. When I finally got to the right building, the staff here gave me incorrect directions to get to the testing area. When I approached someone to tell them I was lost, I was made fun of. How is it okay to make fun of a new mom and give incorrect directions? This was a terrible experience and I'm so grateful that I didn't have my baby in such an unprofessional and cruel place. The only saving grace was the lady that conducted the hearing test was super kind and empathetic.

I went there for a gastroscopy. Straightforward check-in process, using the kiosk at the reception. The facilities were clean, even though some renovation work was in progress. The staff and nurses I dealt with were professional and efficient; no hassles. The procedure was carried out in a proper, well equipped operating room; as I expected, the anesthesiologist, gastroenterologist, and nurses were pleasant and professional. I’ve read terrible reviews of this facility and I was a bit concerned about it, but my experience was positive and I have no complaints.

Believe or not I went there on Friday 4:26pm Ande since the beginning I notice the employees in general were cold. After the doctor saw me he don't have the opportunity to tell more details about he sent me to X-ray and than I wait 5 hours. They only call me again because my husband I went there and said that everybody that started with me went home already. The doctor told me that the X-ray don't she pneumonia and that I don't have infections. But he prescribed for Amox 875 mg/Clavulan pot. My Goodness also I asked him you don't will prescribe some syrup I am coughing nonstop and he said no don't need. Of course I don't drink the highest dose of wrong medicine and becomes worst with my coughing and fever. I decided go back on Tuesday and the another doctor Listen what I have to tell and just said don't drink the Amox 875 and wait this cicle of seasonal flu gone. I really frustrated and I hope never have to go back in this hospital again.

Worst emergence department ever!!!!- Took my grandfather to the emergency department because he kept falling. Doctor in the ER did blood work, x-rays and CT scan. Doctor said everything was normal and sent my grandfather home. Two days later, took my grandfather back to the ER at Etobicoke hospital for pains in chest and severe headaches. Again the doctor in ER did blood work, sent my grandfather home because could not find anything. Finally took my grandfather to a major hospital in downtown Toronto, and my grandfather was diagnosed as having a mild stroke. Needless to say our experience at the ER department at Etobicoke Hospital was not a good one.

Doctors being pushy & not answering questions. Charts getting lost. Very disorganized & even longer waiting times with the new system & renovation Dismissing feelings after being asked how you feel Sending patients home with unnecessary medication Just an all around mess. No patient remorse at all. Just feels like they are pushing a bunch of cows through a factory. A very disorganized & rude factory. This is my second time being here at this hospital, but the first time to use their ER services. I've been waiting 7 hours overnight waiting for blood work results. There's only 1 doctor in, but no where to be found. There are only 5 other people here waiting, and I've been the longest waiting. Every time I ask for an update it's like pulling teeth to get any info. I've been waiting here patiently with extreme pain in my chest and shoulder with my pain meds wearing off. They wouldn't let my husband in and he had to wait outside in the cold for 7 hours+. This is unacceptable. I honestly can't believe this. I arrived before 9pm and it's past 4am with no results and my husband starts work at 7am. At this point, I'm going to drive during morning rush hour!!

Went to emergency at this hospital for the first time and was pleasantly surprised how short the visit was considering I had about 5 procedures and had to wait for results so I saw the doctor about 3 times . Got appointments very fast for a stress test , nuclear medicine test and echogram. The three gentlemen who conducted my nuclear medicine stress test explained all the details thoroughly and alleviated my fears as I had never had these procedures before. Hats off to the staff as my visit was conducted very professional on July 16. Only one more test to go.

I have the utmost respect for our medical community. I find most of the staff to be quite helpful and professional. However, perhaps more training about not shaming a patient in a lot of pain for wanting their pain medication is necessary. Then this morning Nurse Doreen came in my room like a burst of sunshine. The most caring and professional lady that has restored my faith in the care that is given at this hospital.

Very good Hospital. I had many procedures there. Front desk personal are very friendly. Doctors and nurses , very helpful. I felt very safe on my visit. They followed protocol. I was there recently to see Dr. N. King, who was very empathetic, very friendly and clear with his explanation. So glad I had him to discuss my results.

Last Thanksgiving I spent a week in Etobicoke General, following a fall. I was very pleased with my experience as regards staff, doctors etc. Food quite good, too. I had a large lump on my head and was concussed. Given every conceivable test and not released until my assigned doctor determined there was no interior damage. Thank you to everyone. But the hospital is rather run down and needs a serious shot of funding!

We were there for a week with our 4 yr old. who had pneumonia and RSV. From the moment we walked in my daughter was given immediate attention. The nurses are pleasant and make sure your little one is taken care of. Blessed and Thankful that we decided to take our daughter to Etobicoke General.

The mental health level is ok. The nurses are pleasant and lovely. Food is decent. One television. Not much to do so bring books to read as they have none. Your clothes, phone and other belongings will be with security and you will wear scrubs the whole time you are there.

I came here with mental health issues I wasn’t feeling well. As soon as I entered the emergency department I was looked at and brought to a different section. Doctors and nurses were so helpful and understanding. I got the helped I needed in an emergency. Of course just like any other hospital the food was not good but the night’s snack were. Definitely a hospital to go if you are feeling down depressed and honestly need someone!

Great service. I went to the emergency room, and being an international student, I am fully satisfied with their service. Highly competent staff and friendly at the same time. It did take some time, but it was worth waiting. I am grateful to all the staff members who helped me out and took care of me, especially Harmeet and Nidhi. You guys did a wonderful job and well deserved my respect. Thank you so much.

😠 Hi, everyone, this is real. On Monday I went to the hospital because I was bleeding and in pain. I'm pregnant. I arrived there was a long line with people waiting to be attended to, actually I passed at 3 hours, an ultrasound took 3 more hours and then the result another 3 more and in the end they...

😠 Not a good experience. Everything takes forever in emergency room. Even they don't have any estimate for a regular item like x-Ray. They say 60 min and over 2 hrs later we are still waiting while my dad is being tortured by impossible-to-sleep beds in here. That's after spending almost 7 hours for...

😠 One of the worst, degrading experiences of my life. Back in Jan 2020 (so prior to the pandemic), I had a severe allergic reaction to hair dye. Both of my eyes were almost completely swollen shut - I had to have a friend accompany me to Centenary Hospital. The doctor must have assessed me for about a...

😠 Waited hours to even see a doctor. Waited 6 hours just to be hocked up with IV. Even to ask for simple glass of water took that long. The triage nurses were extremely rude and does not care about patients. They are just being told to sit down and wait. The nurses do not care about patients. If I had...

😠 THE WORST HOSPITAL! I have been to this hospital 4 times, every time an emergency; twice for a friend, twice for myself. I feel the ENTIRE staff has been trained how to be rude to patients. 3 times we have come back with no treatment. I wish I could write how exactly I feel when I am here. They simp...
