Great living museum explaining the role of the first post office in the 1830s’ Toronto. The site is both a museum and an actual Canada Post office. After touring the room where Torontonians used to write their mail before sending them across Canada and the World, you can ask the clerk at the front desk for a sheet of cotton paper and write with a feather, and send old fashioned mail to your loved ones too (5 CAD$ - stamp not included). After drafting your letter, you will be able to seal it with wax. Great experience!

a super cute little museum that functions as s fully operational post office (the most charming post office in town for sure). you can learn a lot about Toronto (York) history in the context of early mail services. one of the museum rooms is restored to its original purpose - with writing desks that served customers who would pick up their letter and reply to them right away during the same visit. There are feather pens and old fashion ink provided, so you can try your penmanship skills. Many copies of early drawings of the city of York, with biographical notes of artists and people of influence of the era. Don't miss the amazing gift show with lovely stationary (and not only) items. a great place to get very unique presents or souvenirs. The museum is free and open 7 days a week (with exception of holidays).

This small and old post office has a special service, only $5 you can use a quill and ink to write a letter then the post office lady will teach you to fold the letter in a special way and seal it with the red seal. If you have the habit to send postcard when you visit a new place, I recommend you to come to this post office and send this red seal letter.

I discovered the first Toronto post office was at the heart of Toronto. The exterior itself was a beautiful architecture and well maintained. At first, it looked like a regular building, but when you go inside you submerged into the 1830's. The place was small, but the best museum to visit. You get to use featured ink pen to write your name and sand it off to dry it, as how people used to do. The staffs were very patience and nice, I got traditional seal wax on my postcards, which were unique. A must go place to explore

It's a real treat to get to send your mail from a functioning post office which is also a museum. Learning about the history of Canadian mail service while waiting to partake in the same thing is a delight. The staff are all super lovely; and also are ready and appreciative if you bring your dog with you on your visit. This is one of my pup's favourite places in the city!

Visited the post office during OpendoorTO, it was packed. It is a small old post office. You could write messages with ink and take them with yourself. They have beautiful maps of the city of Toronto. It is worth a visit!

I use their service and love that it is part of Toronto history- throwback in time. Recent hire, Devon has been a bonus to customer service. Helpful, polite and a gem to help navigate postal issues- THANK YOU!

Amazing mini museum with very rich history and information. It has a very unique reading room and a map of Toronto in 1837. Literally, Queens Quay Street was in lake Ontario. Not sure what happened but Front street was actually on the lake shore... very interesting history... the staff are also very helpful and friendly.. admission to the very small museum is free and its open all around the week.
