I love this local museum: heritage buildings, kids station and exhibition. Pottery classes for kids are so good. We had a fun at winter break camp.

Amazing place than I never knew existed, I actually prefer this to Black Creek Pioneer village as it's less like an amusement park and more of an actual museum. It has a large outdoor area full of period buildings relocated from the surrounding area, as well an a complete train station with a snow plough locomotive. You can easily spend an afternoon here as there are several good picnic spots and tons of details to see.

I went here with my 4 year old daughter and she loved it. Not much to see here as a museum but definitely a good place for kids. Museum is a little bit empty and needs more stuff for display. Definitely coming again with my kid considering that it’s just $6 per adult and $4 per child (2-12years).

We had our wedding photos done here and it was a fantastic choice. Not only were there several great locations for photos but our guide (Mike) was incredibly friendly and helpful. There is a cost to take pictures here, but it was very much worth it.

My children loved it here. They loved it so much that they asked me to cancel our plans the next day so that we could go back again. The staff were friendly and the woman that took us on the tour had the patience of a saint while my children excitedly asked a million questions. My 15 year old even enjoyed the time we spent there (and that's no longer a common occurance at her age). We'll definitely be coming back.

The current exhibition of the museum is about Transportation and Chinese culture. There are plenty of interactive exhibits yet there are only few visitors, so you can easily experience these exhibits without needing to queue for them. Extremely suitable for families with children who likes playing with interactive exhibitions. There is also an outdoor area with guided tour at 2pm, where there are many old houses. Visitors can immerse themselves with the early lifestyles of the pioneers of Markham. After all, the admission of the museum is only $7 which is not expensive when compared with other museums in Toronto. This museum is highly recommended.

Excellent Indoor activities + Outdoor activities for young families. The exhibits are just right for babies to 5 years old. The outdoor walk is amazing.

It is a bit like the Shanghai Minhang District Museum where you used to live, but the indoor pavilion part is much smaller in scale and the collection is mostly household items. But the special thing is that there are many old houses placed in the park, just like the Black Creek Village. There is a car head somewhat like Snowpiercer. It is a good place to take wedding photos.

Really beautiful grounds and the staff were very nice. It’s 25 acres of buildings and houses that you can’t actually go in without a guided tour. If you’re trying to see everything as a quick stop it’s not ideal, however if you have more time and it’s not raining it would be pretty cool. We went on a rainy day as a quick stop and it was just kind of a waste of money.

The original Summerfeldt family left a small town in Germany just out of Berlin in 1792 crossed the Atlantic ocean on a small 3 mast sailboat landing on the coast of Maine USA. John Sommerfeldt led the first group of German people crossing the US East coast through New York state floating their wagons across the St Lawrence river into Southern Ontario. John had to trade the group's meager valuables for picks and shovels. Everyone helped in the construction of a single lane dirt road to Toronto and then up what is now Young St through to Aurora. John and group then decided to split off and go East, ending up in Unionville.

This place is amazing! I'm always looking for cheap places to take my three kids. Came to Scaryfest and was pleasantly surprised at the entertainment value. We paid $9 per person, instead of the usual admission, but it kept the kids entertained all Sunday afternoon. Will definitely return for other special events as the museum itself is quite small. There's a heritage/pioneer-type village, as well. Impressively staffed given the low admission. Will be back!! 🎃👻🦇

We visited during the week and it was a very quiet and peaceful place to learn about the local history. The staff were very friendly and we had a guided tour of the settler buildings which had been moved to the museum grounds. I would highly recommend a visit.

Took my son to the Markham Museum to check out the Markham Moves exibit. It was very interactive and its a good place to kill a couple hours with young kids. We did not get a chance to explore the rest of the porperty but plan on going back to do so in the future.

A huge area that is reasonably priced because it is subsidized by the City of Markham. Well worth taking the family there for the day.

It's a great children's museum and the venue has space for hosting a variety of events as well. The building doesn't have much to exhibit and there is an area dedicated for children's activities.

Neat spot to bring your kids for some fun in the Markham moves exhibit. Lots of build it yourself ball drop coasters and toy vehicles to play with and a large ball drop exhibit.

A great place to kill some time when it is raining, few interesting activities, but think it is more suitable for kids under 6.

My first time visiting and I was with a student field trip. Great place to check out if you are looking for an outing involving kids. The play areas were well thought-out, but may need a little extra supervision from staff in certain sections (ex: kids were enjoying riding around on the little vehicles, but they would have gotten crazy or take stuff out of the designated area if someone wasn't keeping an eye). Great learning experience though and activities are well thought-out. Recommend learning some classroom management techniques to help run some of the activities because kids get excited. A general rule: their age is the number of minutes they can sit for (i.e. for 7-yr-olds, max. 7mins of talking at a time). Info was great, just break up the speaking time, so the kids can focus.

My recent visit to the museum has seen something I don’t like....history I have seen in the past. I asked and was told they are changing the look of the museum and using space for history instead for space for events.

There can be more of Markham like the early settlements etc - but still and enjoyable afternoon especially if the weather is good. We went on a weekend and it was not crowded - a fair splinkling of visitors

There is one area specific in the collectors building that is awesome for kids. In the third floor you can do some pottery. The external area of the museum lack a little bit of conservation. The overall experience was good.

A good selection of old houses, barn and variety store etc from the 1800s and 1900s. Gives you a window into the past and life in that era.
