Great collection of Canadian cars from the late 1800s onwards. Amanda is an awesome tour guide - very knowledgeable! Learnt a lot about electric cars - did you know that the first electric car was built in 1898 and made completely out of wood?

This was truly a lovely museum, its collection is very well preserved and displayed. It’s got a very nice selection of international and nationally made cars. Some of the were quite unique and interesting. It’s very educational and informative. It’s a great place to take your family and kids. I really enjoyed my time here and I would definitely recommend visiting this amazing museum.

The collections are awesome. Also the range of cars. From classic to new, gas cars, electric, hybrid. It's definitely worth a visit.

A 'Must See' for everyone. A true piece of Canadian History. The history of the building is amazing and the staff here are full of knowledge and interesting bits of information on the cars. I found the layout to be perfectly designed for great viewing and the description of each car to be extremely informative. The cars are incredible and very rare. Some I have never heard of. It was a history lesson as well as a pleasure to see this impressive collection. Thanks to the staff there for answering all my questions.

We 🇨🇦 have a strong heritage of being creative inventors and entrepreneurs. This is clearly seen in the Canadian Automotive Museum. The facility is small but full of history about Canadian cars.

This place is great for car fans and non-car lovers. There is so much to look at and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and inviting. The place is packed with cars of all ages and tons of information of Canadian car history. But the biggest attraction was the life size Lightning McQueen.

Had an awesome time here today. Lightning is awesome to see and so many different and old vehicles. Would like to come back without the kids and take my time reading about all the vehicles.

A beautiful little museum. My family and I really enjoyed it. Learning about the history of each vehicle and especially Canadian brands. They also have a small treasure hunt for kids and adults to play together. I hope my pictures will encourage you to visit as it is definitely worth it. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Thank you!

So much history to be found in one building. It looks small from the outside but they managed to house A LOT of vehicles in there. They need more space so you can get closer to some of cars that have to be parked behind each other. Beautiful preservation of Canada’s and Oshawa’s history. Recommend a visit

Great cars but small space! I wish they were exhibited in a more spacious location so people can see the cars from all angles

We just finished exploring the museum and we loved every bit of it! Very unique cars that have left an impression on me. My favourite aspect of the experience were the front staff/volunteers. As we were leaving they asked us about our favourite cars etc which led into a really interesting conversation! They are so knowledgeable and friendly and I’m so happy we had the chat we did. Wonderful to learn more about the history of Oshawa, GM, and so much more. Really enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend others to come. Support your local non-profit and learn!

We really enjoyed the range of beautiful and interesting cars and local transportation history. It is clearly run by passionate lovers of all things automotive! It had some kids' activities and a cute little gift shop.

Visit visit to the Canadian Automotive Museum included an informative tour. Learned so much about Canada's car history including 1920s electric cars. So impressive to see the historical car designs in person, you don't realize how big some of the cars/engines were until you are standing beside them. Great day trip for a "date night" or for any car loving family.

It was an underrated experience. I didn't expect much when going there. But it had everything a car lover could expect. Especially for classic car lovers. Their collection was unbelievable. Even with a very small space, they have managed to showcase many automobiles and have maintained them in great condition. Tour guide was very descriptive and knowledgeable. All the details on each vehicle was displayed nicely. Gift shop could improve a little bit more with classic car models but had plenty of options though. Overall it was a great experience which was totally unexpected.

I saw this under the "Things to do in Oshawa" list somewhere and thought sure, lets check it out. I don't know anything about cars so I went with the "let's learn" mindset. I'm so glad that I did. They have a variety of cars on display and history (background information) for each. They currently have Disney Pixar's Lightning McQeen on display (real life sized). As a kid I grew up watching that, so getting to take a picture with that was my highlight! They even have kid friendly activities making it a good learning experience for them. I went around noon on a Friday so it was nice and quiet. I bought a nice Corvette toy as I really liked the real model. They have quite a few car models including Hudson, Disney's Cars themed figures, and other vintage ones to buy. Posters, cards, books etc are also available.

A good place to see collections of foreign made and canadian made cars dates back before 1910. The building is old, space looks tight for the cars. Love the classic cars though, would be nice to see them on the road.

  • 5/5 Vlaicu S. 9 months ago on Google
There are so many different cars. A lot of antique cars and interesting ones. There is a Lightning McQueen and the DeLorean from the movies. A great experience overall and a great variety of things to purchase at the end of your visit. I recommend going there.

It was alright but the riff raff outside hounding you for spare change and the constant worry about your windows being smashed took the fun out of it.

  • 5/5 William K. 2 years ago on Google
Love this place. Took my son and his friends there. Tickets are reasonably price. Lots of classic car. 3xoect to spend about 1 hour there.

Great collection of cars. It could’ve been arranged a lot better. Some of the greatest cars like the Rolls Royce and Ford model T is all placed in an awkward way that you can’t take a good picture.

Very small space cars all bunched together needs new larger space to show off the cars

What an excellent depiction of Canadian Automobilia! Not just the cars and bikes on display., you can’t miss those invaluable details put up on those walls - great source of trivia! The icing on the cake is the Sunday morning (yep, exclusively on Sunday mornings) walk down the memory lanes. Very fun and interesting- let’s you in on a lot about the McLaughlins and automotive scene at Oshawa through the decades if not centuries. I’d certainly recommend you take this trip - not only because it’s interesting, fun, informative - also because you don’t necessarily see the same vehicles in the same manner when you visit this place after a while - they have more vehicles than they can exhibit - so, they keep mixing things up. When we visited last Sunday, they had the McLaughlin model F on display along with Disney’s lightning McQueen and the fastest Bugatti there once was - that drove particular attention. There’s a nice lil gift shop where you can pick up some memorabilia, which again, isn’t for profit and helps maintain the museum - albeit by providing you something to remember them by at a reasonable price (unlike most other museums or places of attraction)

Underrated spot! We decided to stop here as we were driving from Toronto to Quebec city, and we're glad we did. There are so many classic cars crammed into this building.

  • 5/5 Daniel C. 8 months ago on Google
Although the museum is housed in a rather old facility, it was still a wonderful experience to see the history of cars built in Canada. They could benefit largely with more space as some cars are stacked in two rows one behind another making it hard to view in detail. Very friendly staff who gave us a quick complimentary tour. Free parking available.

Came here just before lockdown. A great museum of history and some really rare vehicles. Admission was only $8 and I bought some items to take too. Would definitely come back.

  • 3/5 Caryl L. 2 years ago on Google
Great selection of vehicles and we'll maintained. Very pushy on the donation venue though, with a box every ten feet or so. With a charge to enter, and not a cheap entry, should only have the donation box at the exit...

Amazing little museum packed with well maintained rare antique cars. Staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about preserving this piece of history we take for granted everyday. I can't imagine a day without my car or public transit in my life. I know nothing about cars but our family of 4 enjoy the tour especially my husband

Nice place to take the kids, 2 floors of vintage cars

  • 4/5 Terry M. 2 years ago on Google
I went to the museum, on a recommendation of my family. And I was not disappointed, there was a wide variety of automobiles from a variety of eras. I recommend checking out the second floor, it's were a lot of cool things are. The first floor has some interactive things for the children and you can, at the end of the trip, you can have a picture taken in an automobile.

  • 5/5 Kathie F. 2 years ago on Google
History of the automobile is fascinating. Staff who fill in so many interesting things you never thought about. 1912 hybrid here.

Great experiences to see many antique vehicles in such a small but nice place. All vehicles are arranged very well, and each with a sign to introduce the year, brand, and details. Staff are all extremely friendly and knowledgible, they introduced overall the museum to us at the entrance, so we can get the big picture, and before we leave, they answered all our questions patiently. Overall a superb museum and we worth to be back again!

The collection is amazing It’s real history. But it should be organized well management should be changed and staff need to be trained It’s real treasure been simply ignored by management

  • 5/5 Molly L. 1 year ago on Google
The tour is very worth it, the tour guide was absolutely knowledgeable in the history of Oshawa and the automotive industry. The staff are very passionate and the car collection is simply stunning. The museum is not funded by anyway, purely by donation, I would really recommend anyone to check out this place and to support this place for generations to come.

  • 5/5 MJG 2 years ago on Google
What an amazing museum! The collection here is top-notch. The variety is very nice here between Canadian cars, foreign cars and of course even a Lightning McQueen for the kids. The first floor is more foreign ones while the Canadian ones are on the second level. The kids can do a scavenger hunt for a toy at the end and the souvenir selection is vast and not too outrageous on the pricing. Our son is a car enthusiast at the young age of 5 and he was in heaven here. We'll most certainly stop by again in the future, definitely worth the stop, not just as a stop by, but as a destination. 5/5.

  • 3/5 Melissa M. 2 years ago on Google
It was a great place. I just wish it was a bit bigger so you could see some of the other cars that are behind 2 and 3 cars. We saw a old fire truck in a back corner that we were dying to see. It only took us about 25 mins to go around the 2 floors.

  • 4/5 Brittany M. 2 years ago on Google
Great little museum packed with a unique collection of vehicles! They have about 30 cars I'd say, and it won't take you very long to see everything. Maybe half an hour. I think it's worth a visit if you're planning a day trip, lunch outing, or trying to find something unique to do! I think young kids would love it, especially the Lightening McQueen car. They certainly have a great collection of cars that I've never seen before and probably won't again or anywhere else!
