My family always ends up at this hospital but we have too often had bad experiences. They seem understaffed and overworked nursing staff will not treat patients with very compassionate care. I've had a family member misdiagnosed by a doctor there as well, which sent him spiralling worse with his illness. The hospital is not cleaned very well. Patient and visitor washrooms are filthy (see photos), which is absolutely unacceptable at any time, but especially during covid times. Even years before covid, I remember the washrooms being disgusting. I wish there were other east end hospital options when an emergency arises.

Very disappointed! Took my 20 months Old daughter to the emergency room due to viral infection, after registration they sent my daughter to the Pink zone which means she isn’t very sick. There I saw no patient were there except my daughter since most of the patients are sent to green and red zone. first of all the nurse in the pink zone was very rude and was taking my daughter’s history from me with a very loud and rude voice. Then when I asked how long will it take for the doctor to come, the nurse responded rudely saying “it will take hours!” The doctor will see the sickest patients first then when she/he has time he will come to see your daughter. My daughter was very sick and dehydrated and her mouth was very dry but the nurse was saying your daughter looks fine she is happy and in a good state. My question is do we have to wait for the patient to die then you will treat her? Then she said don’t let your daughter move around lock her in the room until the doctor comes. To be brief, the hospital and the staff are very inhuman, they don’t care about patients and the doctors/nurses should be nice with young kids! The staff needs training on how to be nice with patients and also they need to have more doctors on night shifts in emergency room.

This is the second time I have had a horrible experience of being shafted for non brown patients! Once at emergency when informed several times I was the next patient the doctor refused to see me and kept on taking other patients till the shift changed and a new doctor came in. And now when moms cardiological appointment was at 1:45 and 2:15 and others were taken in before then justifying by saying the patient was an emergency. This patient was walking by himself on no wheelchair or hospital bed The management desperately needs to look into their procedure and staff behaviour and actions.

I went to ER on Boxing Day with flu, fever, dehydration and infections. I did wait a few hours before I was treated but have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised at the level of service and the care I received. I thought that the two doctors were pleasant, extremely thorough, and looking for a comprehensive solution. I was kept in and treated for an additional day. The entire nursing staff were very friendly and efficient...not at all grouchy or indifferent after a long day of being yelled at and abused by a lot of the patients. Actually, this experience was probably the best ER experience I have had in a number of hospitals in a number of cities. A shout out to the porters who pushed my around for two days without a complaint (and even with a joke or two, and to the many volunteer staff who were as helpful and friendly as possible. I don't generally like hospital visits, especially to the ER, but this one was the best. Thank you.

My wife will have a surgery next week and have an appointment with pre-operative client today. She has a bit worry since it is a old hospital and have only 2.8 star at google reviews. But I found that it is totally not the truth when I left this hospital. From the moment we arrived, we felt everything good. The lady at the main entrance checking our vaccinated status, the young guy at lobby and the young lady at Admitting Department, they are really nice, polite and efficient. The registered nurse, her name is Barb, she is amazing. She is not just nice, professional, she is great, extremely friendly, caring. I write this review is just want to share my experience and let people know that if you do need to go to this hospital, you have nothing to worry. Finally, I wish my wife will have a perfect surgery next week.

It's a great hospital if you come prepared! Bring things to keep yourself occupied and comfortable. Expect to have to wait for many hours if you don't have an immediate life threatening issue. The emergency department areas are sparse and can get hectic. But most importantly the staff are all amazing and do the best they can with dated resources in a crowded area. They are tired and stressed because it's a rough job, but they really want to help everyone, so try to be polite and respectful and follow their directions. The biggest issue are other patients who are rude and demanding. The staff tries their best to accommodate everyone fairly. You get service in order of most life threatening, as it should be. It doesn't matter if you have been wanting longer, someone with a worse problem will go first. But it seems there is always at least one person who only has a small issue and expects to jump ahead of the order by being loud and in the way. They don't allow those people to jump ahead no matter what, so those demanding patients are just slowing everything down for everyone. The overnight hospital rooms are newly renovated, clean, and very comfortable! The staff are amazing there too, though they are stretched, so expect to also have to wait for things sometimes. There are lots of great services available for patients, if you ask for them. For example, there is a lovely pet service that will bring a therapy dog by on Thursday who will cuddle up to you and make you feel happier for a little while. You just have to ask for it ahead of time. There is no in-room TV, the TV is in the patients lounge. The rooms have modern medical equipment, and very comfortable beds with electric adjustments. But otherwise they only include the bare basics. Remember, it is not a hotel. So again come prepared, or ask someone you know to bring you things, and you will have a nice place to receive care and recover. Tip: Having your own pillow from home helps a lot. Overall I felt very well taken care of during my times here, and would immediately choose to come back to this hospital the next time I am extremely unwell.

I gave birth to my baby boy at this hospital and I only have great things to say. The triage and maternity departments were amazing, the staff very friendly, kind and available to answer any questions. I felt safe and well taken care of. Same for my baby. I went back to this hospital twice and used the emergency once for myself and once for my baby. Again great experience. The baby emergency is top notch with friendly staff, lots of toys and amazing Morgan who puts a smile on every kid.

This is the second time I've had a terrible experience here. Twice now my girlfriend has been taken to this hospital only to be ignored and dismissed. The first time, years ago she was misdiagnosed as "fine" only to have a kidney infection which eventually spread to her intestines and make her sick for months. Second time in Oct 2022 she is taken by paramedics to the hospital where she sits for over 6 hours being told next to nothing. Having to ask about her blood samples only to learn they have lost them. TWICE. In one visit. I am beyond mad. I knew I should have told the paramedics to not bring her here. Losing samples has also happened to two other family members of mine on separt occasions. Avoid this hospital. It's 50 million cash injection did nothing to improve the standards of care. Unbelievably disappointed.

One of the fracture clinic receptionists was not helpful and not willing to help. What the lady does at best was to give patients trouble. Once she forced my mom in wheelchair to leave the waiting room with the excuse of her wheelchair blocking walking path. We could not understand how a wheelchair parked along the wall with other chairs could block the way. So we confirmed with another receptionist and got OK with where we were. Second time, we just booked the follow up appointment and then realized the date was miscalculated. We were just waiting in line to correct the date. The same lady came right to us. To my surprise, she was not to offer help but accused us not pointing out their miscalculation at the first place. Then she walked away. I understand working in a hospital could be stressful but patients should also be treated with respect not a tool to let out your frustration. Not to over interpret, we were the only Asians there and the only ones treated that way.

I'm genuinely shocked at how badly run down this hospital is. It looks like something out of a horror movie. Staff was horrible. I needed an IV for dehydration and after the nurse blew one of my veins she refused to check my other arm. Sat there 4 hours just to get a doctor that acted as if he was on speed the throw a Bactrim prescription in my face. He also answered a phone call while talking to me a thousand words a minute. Will definitely not be going back to this E.R. It's an embarrassment to health care.

I had to go to the emergency. I had gotten a surgery, it wasn’t a long book in or wait. I was treated with love and grace and I’m so grateful to have had the doctor and nurses I was assigned. Really great and comfortable experience. I have to add this. This hospital doesn’t deserve the rating it has, one of the best hospitals. Staff are nice. I would give this place an overall rating of 4/5

One of the most dependable tertiary hospitals in Canada. Well equipped with the most of the modern amenities, need to improve their long waiting time at the ER room though like the other hospitals of its level. Saving patients’ waiting time should be taken care of.

Very caring staff! I had my surgery on January 8th and nurses Daniel, Anna, Lana + all other nursing staff in G6 area and the recovery room were SUPER caring, thoughtful and attentive. I had to stay in the recovery room for 6 hours for a second procedure and throughout that time I saw them show equal amount of care to all patients that went through the recovery room that day. Same goes for my amazing surgeon Dr Dale Sigesmund! Thank you for making us all feel safe and cared for when we were in a vulnerable state!

Canadian health system has completely failed. No one is in charge of controlling disrespectful hospital staff anymore. They are freely and without any fear, disrespect you, humiliate you, abuse you, and basically violates all your rights. Where is all our paid taxes have gone to? To the garbage bin? We need them back now. We have not been paying taxes to receive this terrible service and for our rights to be violated. This type of attitude from Ontario's hospital staffs are not acceptable and must stop immediately. All reviews under any Ontario's hospitals clearly indicate this and those responsible for this mess must be removed from the hospital ASAP, tomorrow is late. There are so many experts are seeking for a job, remove the violators from hospitals and use those who are really deserved to have these jobs, those who really care!!!

A recent 3 day visit to this hospital for a surgery of a family member renewed my respect and appreciation in Canada Health system. A great team of doctors, nurses, support staff and volunteers provided an A1 service efficiently, professionally and with care using complex and up to date medical and IT equipment. The team included senior and younger staff from Canada and new comers to provide care for patients that have not visited the hospital by choice. The hospital offered a super clean place even during renovation. The Kitchen staff would not get a Michelin star rating but they got a 5 star from me for quality, reliability and service. Even the underground parking was safe, clean, well lit and with reasonable prices. Well done team MG. I know that such a performance takes a lot of work behind the surface. A refreshing experience that proves that dedicated, experienced and “real” people, not money and politicians, make all the difference. Sorry for the long winded review, but a big thank you. Keep up the good work.👍👏

Fantastically efficient and friendly. Took my son in for a COVID-19 test and we were in and out in 10 minutes. A person administering the test was wonderful, with a good sense of humour. Note: they do the shallow penetration nasal swab.

Had 2 surgeries done here. (December 2021 & April 2022) Great team all around, amazing and caring nurses. Great doctors. Stayed overnight for 3 nights for both times. Hospital food was nothing special, but still good to eat. I enjoyed all menu items that were available and offered. The control panel on my bed on my second surgery was broken, so I needed the nurses to adjust the bed everytime, not a big deal as the nurses were always a great help and always there when I needed them. The inside of the hospital was older and slightly run down. I'm still giving 5 stars as I feel that many of us still take our health care system for granted and have no problem looking at the negatives meanwhile ignoring all of the positives. I didn't pay a single cent for either of my surgeries which would have cost a fortune in the US and these surgeries saved me from not being able to pursue my career. A big thanks to the entire team at Michael Garron, keep up the good work :)

I gave birth at this hospital on August 7, 2021. The triage nurses were awful. They had so much attitude. The first nurse on shift seemed so annoyed at the most simplest of questions. Luckily, I fell asleep while in labour due to my dose of morphine and gravel. The second shift nurse was even worse. I was alone for most of the time but my daddy came for a couple of hours to support me. But once he left my contractions started shortly after. I called the nurse in to my bed space 4 different times; telling her each time I needed to push. I had said one time “you don’t understand I need to push “and she responded with “I’ve been working this job for over 20 years, I do understand “ I would call her back into my bed space continuously telling her I needed to push and she kept telling me that the more time she wastes responding to me the less time she has to get my birth room ready. She had a horrible attitude and refused to listen to me when I was telling her that I was ready to push. It was a very traumatic experience; being so young and alone giving birth. And then to have the nurses belittle me was the cherry on top of the cake. If this hospital does other people the way it did me I believe it should be shut down. I hope that those nurses get what they deserve. Even if that’s a freaking vacation

Michael Garron Hospital, formerly Toronto East General Hospital founded in 1929 and located in the East of Toronto in Ontario, has been proudly serving the community of East Toronto since 1929. Over the years the hospital has continued renewing its commitment and version and today Michael Garron Hospital is a full-service and large community teaching hospital with over 500 beds, and providing comprehensive patient care to a diverse population of more than 400,000 people living in its corresponding area! As a community teaching hospital, MGH is affiliated with the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine, the University of Toronto Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing and other educational institutions. Thank you is really needed for their efforts and hard work!

I’ve known multiple people who have gone to the ER here and been sent away with absolutely zero help (one of these people is currently bleeding profusely, has lost vision and can no longer feel his legs and he was discharged with no help and not even a Tylenol for the pain). This hospital is a disgusting joke full of incompetent people who have zero empathy for human suffering. You’d have better luck googling your symptoms and treating yourself than going to this joke of a “hospital”.

Dear [Hospital/Administration], I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with the emergency services provided at your facility on February 27, 2024. My [family member/friend/patient] and I arrived at the emergency department yesterday due to [brief description of emergency]. After completing the registration process, we were directed to wait in the green zone for a doctor. However, despite waiting for six hours, no doctor came to attend to us. When we approached the nurse in the green zone to inquire about the delay, we were met with nothing but argument and rudeness. The nurse seemed dismissive and did not provide any satisfactory explanation for the prolonged wait. Her demeanor was unprofessional, and it left us feeling disheartened and disregarded as patients in need of urgent medical attention. Unfortunately, our experience was not isolated, as several other patients in the waiting area also expressed their dissatisfaction and eventually left without receiving the necessary medical care. As someone who values prompt and compassionate healthcare services, I am deeply disappointed by the lack of professionalism and empathy displayed by your staff members. I understand that emergency departments can be busy, but the way in which we were treated was unacceptable. I urge you to address this issue promptly and implement measures to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future. Patients deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, especially during times of medical crisis. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope to see improvements in the quality of emergency services at your facility.

I delivered my baby boy- Harry, two days ago at Michael Garron hospital . They have amazing maternity triage centre. The staff was extremely helpful. Superb facilities at the hospital. I specially want to thank my nurse on duty- Julia meneses. She’s kind, helpful and extremely good at her work. Being a first time mom, I keep asking stupid questions and kept calling her in my room every now and then , but she was never irritated. She kept a smile and helped me with my queries . Julia if you reading this, then I wanna Thank you again. ☺️ You are an angel.

I’ve had ok experiences in the past at this hospital but today was my worst. My child in pain for over 11 hours and no pain medication. Everyone else who arrived shortly after us were looked after and sent home hours ago. It took over 6 hours before they took ex rays ultrasound and blood tests. We were at the hospital for nearly 12 hours. I expected a longer wait time when I arrived at the hospital since it was night time but not that long.

We had to go into the ER late on a Sunday evening. Staff was so kind. Every person we met was helpful. They saw us and got us back home again remarkably fast. They also had really transparent wait times with screens keeping people updated so we weren’t stuck wondering with no idea. Overall so grateful this is our nearest ER!

If I could rate this a zero I would. This has to be the worst hospital in this whole city. It should be shut down. The lack of care is disgusting! I know the nurses are overworked but to be rude and mean to the patients is unacceptable. I live in the neighborhood so sadly this is the hospital I'm stuck with whenever there is an issue. 30 years ago it was a good place but it has gone way downhill and is only getting worse. My mother has a broken hip and isn't ready to leave but yet they're kicking her out because they want the bed, and she has Covid but they don't care, she's been there a month and they feel she's ready to go home. It may be free healthcare but that doesn't mean it's good. If you can, beg and plead the ambulance drivers not to send you there ask to be sent to a different hospital because you'll get treated like garbage here if you get treated at all. It's a disgraceful place and I feel for anyone that has to be stuck in here. I love all these fake reviews saying they're great. What a joke!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This hospital and staff deserve negative stars. Went in for uncontrollable pain in the abdomen. All they've done is take multiple tests (of the wrong area at that) over the span of 24 hrs. They haven't found out what's causing the pain, they've barely been able to locate it even though I've mentioned it to them numerous times. They gave me an appointment for a ct scan an began running extra tests. They've said they will release me and still haven't for over 12 hours. I've waited so long to find out what's causing me pain, that my pain disappeared.

From the moment I arrived I was treated well by a professional triage staff. They processed us new arrivals in a quick manner. A shout out to them The ER staff reacted to my health issue efficiently and effectively. I was initially unresponsive and they dealt with it as skilled staff that they are. Another shout out!! The health circumstances required me to be admitted into the Urology department. This staff also were a top notch team. They were responsive to my frequent needs with a caring disposition. Awesome job to one and all!!!

Sometimes service and care is better than others. Security is heavy handed (don't know what's going on with that). Nurses are hit and miss for a happy and friendly staff member. Doctors usually good from my experience however you just seem like a number. Definitely some work on customer service and helpful attitude however it is a good hospital and it is expanding for the rename donation of 50m dollars to Michael Garron Hospital. I'm sure staff are excited but still working hard. They are our Health Care Heroes.

Called to book an appointment to visit my mother who had multiple strokes. There is no visitation between 2pm-4pm. I understand that me switching times from 4pm to 1pm back to 4pm may have been frustrating but that gives NO justification what so ever to call me a “fucking idiot” before abruptly hanging up the phone. Ridiculously unacceptable, disrespectful and infuriating. Why would that be anywhere near something to say to someone going to visit a loved one… the nurse should be FIRED.

Very busy hospital. What did I notice ...they are organized, staff you see in the hallways willing to point you in the right direction with a smile. You must wear a paper mask at all times (no cloth masks allowed). Imaging centre for x-rays was very busy, but names are called and the line was moving. Expect to wait 30 minutes. I liked the chairs that have plexiglass between them, such a great idea and made me feel very comfortable while I waited. They have Tim Hortons at the main coxwell entrance and a pharasave for prescriptions. Taxi stand just outside the main entrance waiting to take you home. Excellent Hospital and caring kind staff here. If you liked my pic of plexiglass glass chair give this review a like.

I came to the ER here on Thanksgiving weekend after having a 103 fever that would not break, as well as other symptoms that needed immediate attention. I waited 1.5 hours in total to be seen by a nurse, where I was taken very good care of by Nurse Jessica and Doctor Natalie. They listened intently to me and did not let me leave until my fever broke and my heart rate went down. I think your experience here will completely depend on when you arrive and what you have to get done. I came in at 7pm and left about 12am. I love this hospital and I appreciate the work they do here. They have great staff here.

Imagine staying at the emergency forever on the weekend. It supposed to has 2-3 doctors at least. I don't even see the doctor busy with someone else, he came once every 1 and half hour!! Also, some of the nurses are rude and disrespectful. I don't know why they saying health in Canada is good!!! Believe me some other countries way much better with better doctors, nurses and hospitals. If I can give 0 rate, I will do it again and again.

While I can understand many people have had different experiences at this facility. I can only speak to my own. I had been dealing with RSV - yes adults get it and usually from children. I had been dealing with it for about five weeks. Went in because it went away and then came back and was causing extreme difficulties breathing and extreme pain in my chest, upper back and ribs. I went on a Sunday. My partner came with me and within getting there I was seen by a triage nurse in five minutes. Was registered within fifteen minutes and was into an exam room. A nurse had an EKG done within thirty minutes. A chest X-ray and blood work done within the hour. A doctor saw me within a hour and fifteen minutes. My doctor was kind and thorough and my partner and I were out with in an hour and forty-five minutes with a prognosis and care plan. When I mentioned I didn’t have an GP doctor. She came back and did a second go over a different concern and indicated what I should be watching out to and to come back if things got worse. Compassionate care at its finest. Overall the team was efficient and very kind at all points. For a hospital that is under construction. It was a very smooth and easy process. We were treated fairly and kindly. Living in the beaches it was nice not to have to go downtown. Overall. My experience was top notch and I appreciated the tvs indicating what their wait times were in every department and information on what we should expect. The green emergency team was so professional and kind and it was a positive experience for us. Thank you for the care, also RSV is no joke. Stay healthy out there folks.

I’m sitting here, where I’ve been for hours. No one says anything. Nurses look at you like you shouldn’t be here. I get covid is real, I understand that people are overworked. But I pay taxes to be treated like a human and instead I get treated like a number. I need stitches and here I sit like a second class citizen. Thanks #canada. So glad my taxes pay for understaffed hospitals and exhausted staff. Well done.

I ended up waiting till 4pm and no one showed up- I tried calling multiple times and all went to VM.

I can’t say enough good things about this hospital. They’ve helped my elderly mom on a number of occasions, they’ve helped me when I’ve gone through the emerge, which is really not a long wait when you hear of other hospitals. They’ve also helped my partner when he needed them. it is truly a hospital that I can trust and have good care in when any family go there. Many who I’ve met that work there, from the cleaning crew, admin, doctors, nurses and technicians have all been very professional and polite. Thank You.

Emerge diagnosed me with a rare diagnosis in only 1.5 days, with only mild symptoms (the surgeon says she’s only seen 4 cases of it in her 20 year career). I was there 2.5 days total, slept in a private room with a private washroom both nights, and received constant diligent and kind service. In only 2 days, they referred me to a specialist at Toronto General for major surgery later this spring. I could not have received better care, 10/10. The food was also pretty good for hospital food!

This is the worst hospital ever waiting time are unexpected , doctors and nurses have no knowledge and have 0 sympathy towards the patient . Xray took more that 4 hours and on top of that doctors advising to go from one area to another without painkillers. Being an immigrant and paying so much taxes did not expect this for a developed nation which has a so called free health care

Best hospital experience I've ever had. Every single staff member I interacted with was absolutely incredible. Very polite, kind, caring, and funny. I went to emerge and left two hours later. Quick and efficient.

I've been to emergency here couple of times myself, but today I came with my sick son. Went to the kids emergency and was attended efficiently. The room is great, they have a play section while waiting and drs nurses were so nice, even gave my son some snacks. I liked the service I received from them.

Today we had wonderful care at the MGH Pediatric ER Zone from Dr. Angela Marrocco. She was thorough, empathetic and did not dismiss any of our concerns at all. Thank you for your superb work.

I am completely happy with the nurses and doctors at this hospital. It was my first time being a patient here for day surgery. The nurses are great, extremely friendly, empathetic, caring. This is very rare as I work with nurses everyday and they r usually very angry ppl. This was not the case with all 7 nurses I dealt with. My surgeon was extremely nice as well..he explained my surgery very thoroughly. The day surgery team at this hospital get 10 out of 10 from me!

I came in to the "emergency department" at 12:30 . I left at 9:30 . the whole time i saw the doctor only one time around 5:00 . I even left the hospital without knowing what was the problem because at 9:30 they decided it is better to get a new appointment. the work flow is the worst thing I have ever seen. everyone there is soooooo slow is over there all the stuff with doctors is very very slow they don’t no how to help patient if patients ask them for help they just get rude to them is very bad experience here

I did a Covid-19 test at Michael Garron Hospital yesterday. It wasn’t very busy but there still seemed to be a great deal of confusion as to where we were meant to wait or what line to stand it. To be fair, though, I only waited maybe ten minutes until someone saw me. Turned out, though, they had me waiting in front of the wrong doctor’s office on the other side of the room. It felt disorganized, to say the least. My main complaint, though, is as follows. I had plenty of anecdotal information from a number of friends that the Covid-19 test was pretty much painless and so this is what I expected. I lifted my head as the health care worker instructed and before I knew it I felt a searing pain in my nose and nasal cavity. It felt like she rammed that thing into my brain! Seriously though, my strong feeling is that this test should not have been as painful as it was. As it is, I will be reluctant to take a Covid-19 test again and if I do I will absolutely avoid Michael Garron hospital.

Needed some ER attention this week and it was my first opportunity to experience and now to thank all the front line staff including the Dr., nurses, registration, and cleaners who were all so kind to me and I honestly cannot believe how hard everyone works there. Thank you to all staff at Michael Garron hospital.

Michael Garron is an amazing hospital with an even more amazing staff in every dept. The nurses and doctors in Labour dept are very nice during the whole process and informative as well. They tended to our and babies needs so fast and in an amazing manner. The rooms for birth are very spacious and clean.

I had a great experience while in the ER yesterday. Triage and Registration was quick and I was able to speak with a doctor in under 2 hours, got blood tests, an X-ray, blood culture test, and antibiotics via IV in under 6 hours (my total time in the ER). The nurses and doctors were incredibly attentive and followed up with me every step of the way without having to ask what’s going on. I know most people don’t like this hospital but I think they’ve made major improvements in their patients care.

Ari the MRI technologist is absolutely wonderful. I went in for my first and second MRIs in the same week and he made me feel super comfortable while being super friendly. It felt like I was with an old friend! The only downside was the wait time however I understand that’s how things go at hospitals. MG is lucky to have Ari!

The worst hospital experience ever!! I went there with my family cause all of them were sick. The first nurse who asked us questions was just so loud and wasn’t listening to our problems but instead making up her own thing. The wait time was more than 3 hours and when we finally were called in, there was no doctor for the first 30 minutes. When asked a nurse about it, she said the wait time for the doctor is 3 hours!! Someone just barged in to ask when the doctor will come cause he has been waiting for more than 2 hours and his name was not even called. Imagine finally hearing your name called but then you get to know that the doctor isn’t there at all and you gotta wait more 🙃. I just left without meeting the doctor cause I have other work to do! Wasted my time

Stayed here for 4 days when my toddler had his first asthma attack. Every single staff member was so kind and reassuring. My son was understandably afraid of the oxygen masks & needles but the nurses comforted him through it. They even gave him a teddy, train pillow and “love box” filled with art supplies & supportive notes which helped him tremendously since he was bed ridden. They went above & beyond! I’m extremely grateful & this hospital would be my first choice.

There have been major improvements over the years, both in the customer service and the renovations of the hospital. The new areas are spacious and the ceiling height is nice and high. The hospital staff are friendly and helpful. I look forward to when the renovations are completed.

This hospital was great. Every test I had to do with my heart was prompt and quick. Although I could’ve spent about 18 less hours in a room; everything else was great. Every doctor and cardiologist was thorough. There wasn’t much communication amongst doctors and my nurses (nurses were asking me what the doctors had done or were going to do next) but besides that everything was fine. Hospital food isn’t food anywhere but especially not here.

It’s exhausting to get what you need from this hospital. In my experience they don’t respect your needs and have been consistently disorganized and often times over promise with what they can do for you. I’ve had a great nurse and quite a few bad ones, it’s hard to feel respected at this place.

Waited an hour past my check up was scheduled for 9:30 am then 10:00 am I had to ask them before they sent me to the doctor and he I had to wait another 30 minutes. So instead I have to reschedule because they had me wait more than an hour past my appointment, and they had people getting their appointments that arrived wayyy after me go in first (about 3 people that arrived after me got their check up first) the staff there is great and they are kind but they have to fixed their schedules. If you have something important going on, on the day of your appointment cancel it you are going to be waiting a while

Strange that so many companies are donating to this hospital for COVID research when this hospital told their employees NOT to self-isolate after returning from overseas after March break. I've heard they do great things here, so it's a shame that they put the public's health at risk in order to bring employees back.

Every experience I've had at Michael Garron Hospital has been pleasant. Yes, wait times in the emergency dept. are long - as they are in every other hospital I've ever been to over my 72 years. But that should not be the basis for giving negative reviews.

I went to this hospital with my two fingers cut deeply and bleeding, I finally got the chance to see a doctor about one and half hours later. I should admit the doctor was a nice lady and treated me good. However she told me I need to get plastics for my fingers and someone will call me, if no one call in three days I should call back. It’s been two weeks now and I called the hospital a couple times and told them that my fingers are itchy and it needs attention, the call taker said some one will reach you. Again no one has ever call me since. I finally decided to do something elsewhere cause in this hospital they don’t care about anyone’s pain.

My mother was admitted to this hospital when she had a stroke and again when she had a heart attack which resulted in her death. I seriously question some of this hospital's intervention methods, and wonder if the treatment that they gave her (and did not give her) was the major contributor to her untimely death. Eventually the hospital couldn't even treat her. And they had to transport her to a hospital downtown with more facilities - where during transport she succumbed to her illness and her heart stopped beating for the last time. If this hospital cardiology unit was adequate enough and they were able to give her emergency life saving treatment in a timely matter onsite, rather than send her downtown for treatment, I seriously think my Mom would still be here with us. Imagine losing your 54 year old mother at the age of 26, 25, and 13 - my siblings and I. I think more could have been done. The nurses and doc's were compassionate but that isn't the point. If the hospital was equipped to deal with her condition I would not be writing this today. Sending her here was essentially pointless. I am beyond disappointed in this place and sending a loved one here is a total regret for us.

Great experience with the ER. I had a scary experience and everyone I encountered was helpful and caring. Very compassionate. My nurse was absolutely amazing. I had worked at the Scarborough General for years. Even with myself and family being familiar with many of the staff there, there is NO COMPARISON! The service and treatment was quick, efficient, and the staff truly took the time to LISTEN. They went above and beyond the required and expected level.of service. I hope I will not need another visit to an ER, but if so, I would not hesitate to return.

I arrived at the covid assessment clinic at 1:00 p.m. and there were only 15 people before me. And now it's 2:26 p.m. and there are 6 people before me and more than 20 after me. Some countries conduct the test in a drive-thru like a fast food service. Here we're so behind and very slow.

On Wednesday, July 29th, I was brought here against my will by ambulance. My condition was serious, but I was sane, lucid and capable of making my own decisions and understanding the consequences of them. In spite of this, and my repeated protestations, I was given multiple blood transfusions against my will & beliefs and without my consent.

3 to 5 hour wait in the emergency waiting room with patients who don't wear masks and no one to enforce it. Literally run worse than a Starbucks. If you wanna contract Covid just visit their emergency room. After the wait you will see a doctor for 5 mins and they will prescribe you a random anti depressant or a pain killer and will send you off with a brochure and referral to some real health facility. What a torture. Only go there if you absolutely have to. Third world countries have better hospitals than this.

Nightmare ER staff, yelled at me for their mistakes, put in an IV (hooked up to NOTHING) in incorrectly, refused to take it out when they finally did it squirted blood on my arm, they never wiped it. Eventually I left because they refused to tell me if they'd do the tests my family doctor ordered (they missed them the week before despite them being very obvious), actually not a single staff member I asked about the tests DIDN'T get combative/yell at me.The entire hospital is ancient, I've heard from many that the workplace culture is toxic. Go to any other hospital.

Been here twice for mental health reasons. They want to get you in and out as quickly as possible and don't push for you to speak to a psychiatrist. Security guards are untrained in mental health crisis. However I've had two very lovely doctors stitch me up...the two stars given are for them. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis go to St Mike's if you can.

So My Spouse And I took Him Back To The HOSPITAL for THEM to Admit Him Again and Telling Us He Didnt Have Issue We THEN fought to Have Him Transfered For Over A Week Finally THEY Transfered Us From MGH And Hes Now Recieveing Amazing Care. I'm updating this as of july 19 I have to say bugging the board of directors and getting a lawyer involved was the best choice we transported my son to sick kids and within 3 weeks was home gaining weight and doing amazing. MGH Wouldnt let me bath my child or cloth him for more then 8 hours and sick kids was truly a blessing

I live in the neighbourhood and have been to Michael Garron Hospital at least 5 times in my life for different medical concerns. Never have I had a bad experience. Normal wait time frustrations but that is not the staffs fault. I have had better results from doctors at other hospitals and more thorough testing from Mount Sinai, or St. Mikes. For that reason I am taking 1 star off.

I have been going to MGH (but always "East General" to me) since I moved to Toronto in 1995. I was stitched up (40+ stitches inside+out) from a bike accident in 1996, I received excellent rehabilitation for a knee injury in 1997, ... and while the stories do diminish slightly in their frequency, I have always trusted East General, even though it gets a bad reputation.

Old hospital, but currently under renovation. Luckily, because the medical staff is great! I recently had a major thoracic surgery and I am very impressed with the care I received - no exceptions - could use the hospital staff directory, but would like to be more personal. It all started with the pre-op assessment - Dr Desmond LAM, anesthesia, Dr FLORESCU, IM, KELLY, pharmacy - all very thorough and friendly. Then Dr Carmine SIMONE - my primary surgeon, brilliant and caring, but also Dr Gazala, Dr Zeldin, Dr Sisson. The anesthesiologist Dr Henderson Lee.The challenging but successful surgery was followed by excellent post operative care: Dr Alvin Chang, Dr Stone, Dr Rhiannon DaCosta, all at ICU: Jewel, Meteen, Belinda - regretfully because of my condition cannot remember all names. Then the post operative department - very outdated structure, but what matters very advanced staff - Dr Dhruvin Hirpara - excellent doctor, very attentive and excellent bed-side manners; all nurses, physiotherapists - all very dedicated and caring people. My sincere appreciation and profound respect to all!

I was here yesterday at Emergency and although the drs were good and some nurses were friendly, this was a totally disorganized and chaotic experience. I was there for 6 hours and had to keep checking up on if I'd be seen, if the results were in and I initially was put in a room with another man while being admitted. They don't have enough staff and it shows. Many people asking to be discharged because they were waiting too long and weren't being seen. Maybe people moaning, elderly waiting in beds, and a high police presence. Totally did not feel like Canada. The nurse said to. A little compassion can go a long way, the staff/nurses seemed so burned out. Either way I thank them for their services.

As far as hospitals go within the GTA, Michael Garron Hospital is one of the best. The emergency room is well equipped with lots of friendly staff. From the doctors, nurses, and ancillary staff -- all of them have been super helpful. The wait was not long and I was able to get my concerns addressed without being rushed. From their day surgery unit, covid 19 assessment centre, to their cath lab, the staff for the most part have been caring, empathetic and friendly. The doctors here are truly experts in what they do and I really appreciate the confidence they inspire in their patients. The issue with this hospital is parking. It is super hard to find parking here. Parking lots are usually full and finding parking quickly especially in an emergency is a challenge. Also, there isn't much of a food court here, and the hospital is really showing its age. Hopefully, once the construction is done here, these issues will be resolved.

Extremely long wait times every single time I make the mistake of choosing this hospital. Was standing in the “pink zone” for well over 15 min to see a nurse to drop off my paper work. Then waited (so far) 2 hours to see a doctor, last time I was here it took 8 hours! As a tax paying citizen with health insurance both government and private I strongly urge people to take the trip to a different hospital unless you don’t mind waiting long wait times.

The incompetency in the mental health department is disturbing. Was just kept waiting for forty minutes because Okyere couldn't find me. Was in the lounge the whole time. First time we met he asked me if I was sad a lot, and I said no (my depression manifests as numbness because it is chronic). This alleged psychiatrist told me I wasn't depressed because I wasn't sad all the time aka a 9-year old's interpretation of what depression is. Michael Garron will be better off after he dies or retires.

The only time you get any help at this hospital is if you contact management. Our sister has been at this hospital for a month now. The ICU staff as most ICU's are fairly helpful..Cindy, Fergus, Heidi and another Male nurse, George?? and Dr. Chan, Are amazing..the rest, including a Dr. Warner have absolutely no clue how to deal with family and come across as unfeeling and dismissive. Our sister has now been moved to a ward. Patient care is totally substandard. The hospital itself is old and needs major renos to rooms..not just the obvious hallways. Our experience with two separate wards is frustrating and quite disturbing.

My story: - I came to emergency department on Christmas Eve, 24th of December at around 23:30 and was discharged at around 10 a.m. December 25th. - For the first 4 hours I got registered, moved to Green zone, passed tests, consulted with doctor and received medicine for pain relief as soon as I asked for. Nothing made me wait long, everything was in time. - At 4:00 am I was said that I was stable and needed a CT test to plan further treatment, and CT was opened only at 8:00 a.m. Doctor gave me options to go home and return or to stay in the department and wait till the morning. - Also, I was offered as much pain medicine as I needed. - I decided not to leave, stayed till 8:00; at 8:05 nurse from the next shift called me for a CT test. - We were done with CT test at around 8:40. - At 10:00 I was provided with prescription, next steps for my treatment and discharged. Attitude from the stuff: - every stuff member of ED I talked to, treated me in such a way that I was sure that I would be helped, no matter what could happen. No idea how this hospital could gather so many compassionate and professional people under one roof. Thank you.

2 weeks ago I had a very bad slip on the ice and broke my ankle in 3 places. An ambulance had to be called. The severity of my break was something I’ve only seen in movies and it was traumatizing. I experienced such care and compassion from the team at the hospital . The paramedics who were so kind and gentle . They made me as comfortable as they could and made sure my wife came along . The nurses and doctors in emerge were amazing and kind. The overall moral and energy throughout the hospital during my visit was unreal. It made my traumatizing accident bearable having such kind and caring staff helping me. I have enormous gratitude for the staff I encountered that day . It truly shows how amazing the staff is from the paramedics, nurses, doctors, the friendly porters and technicians. I can’t say enough and my family is so grateful ❤️

The care and surgery I received at this hospital for a corrective nose surgery was good. However I was lied to and encouraged to sign for a semi private room instead of a standard room for my overnight stay. Was told whatever my insurance doesn't cover Ohip should get the rest so no need to worry about paying anything. Complications after the surgery resulted in me having to stay 3 nights instead of just one. No one mentioned to me that I have to pay out of pocket for this at all and 2 months later one receiving a invoice from the hospital for a bill for 375$ since they charge 250$ a night but insurance only covered half. Giving people false information regarding room upgrades and not giving me any updates that yes I am indeed paying for the room and will continue to do so until I get discharged. If I was informed of such a detail I would have either spent more money and opted for a full private room so I can have visitors and half less covid exposure. Or I would have simply asked for a regular room knowing I was stuck in there for several nights instead of just one like originally planned. Explained to they're email contact what happened and they don't care. They just email me my signed rooms and say too bad u signed it you pay. Tldr. If they try and tell you oh upgrade to a semi or private room because you have insurance and if they don't cover it all Ohip will. Don't believe them.

Hi, I am writing this review for Diane Aigcheson. She had bladder surgery on Jan 6 in MGH with Dr Groll. She was super happy with how things went. Super great feedback to the nurse's who did a great job and treated her well. Everything was so great and she really really appreciates everyone!

You must train your nurses to respect a patient's decision to not get vaccinated. In the ER, one nurse asked if I was vaccinated, then didn't hesitate to express her appall when I said I wasn't. Meanwhile she provided a bed to a homeless person, which is very kind, but clearly her standards immunity are skewed. The bottom line is she should (1) educate herself, and (2) keep her opinion to herself. Next, outside of the OR in the corridor, and right before going under the knife, I was faced with a clumsy and confused Filipino OR nurse, who wanted to argue with me about why I wasn't vaccinated. Seriously, administration needs to train, retrain, and train again these nurses on proper protocols and manners, especially those who are in contact with patients.

They go beyond care and really want to help. I would recommend this hospital to anyone. Also when I was registering I noticed it has there have a special emergency room for children's issues. I'm going to be back this week So I'll keep you posted

Was very happy with my experience at Michael Garron today. The staff was friendly the Doctor was excellent! We felt listened to, our concerns were taken seriously and the doctor was very thorough. I would highly recommend this hospital. Also it was easy to find parking in the lower level of the building.

I was @ the emergency on 9th July, 2023 with my daughter who was suffering from severe unknown stomach aches which were making her hard to lie down & difficult to breath as well. We reached around 1.30 AM & around 2.10 am we were provided a bed after checking vitals & were waiting for a doctor to check on her - which did not happen until 8.00 AM - when we gave up & walked out to visit Scarborough General Hospital's emergency. The nurses in this shift did not even cared to checkup on the patients every 1hr atleast nor updated that a doctor is not available until next morning - if they would have notified the patients (others including us) that a doctor was not available until next morning - we would have moved to another hospital - rather doing their due duties - they were sitting & discussing about how to & where to spend their vacations.

I have had both good and bad experiences at this hospital. More bad than good unfortunately. They are not prepared to treat neurodivergent patients and have no understand of their medical access needs. The hospital should do more research in this area. I am very grateful for the nurses though! They work so hard.

The doctors at this hospital are very skilled. My wife had an accident and she stayed in the emergency department for almost 2 days at Scarborough Ci'en Hospital. However, she only received some simple treatment. When the specialist came to see her, she was in critical condition, but the doctor did not do anything like this. The ability to perform surgery was transferred to Michael Garron Hospital that night. It was originally a small accident, but due to the delay at Scarborough Ci'en Hospital, I later underwent many large and small surgeries, and was in and out of the ICU 3-5 times (for more than 2 years, I remember (Unclear), every day is like a year. I am afraid even if there is a hospital phone number, and I am afraid even if there is no hospital phone number. It can be said that my wife’s life hangs by a thread every day, so I am very grateful to this hospital, especially Dr. Safieddin, who is the attending doctor. I am forever grateful to him for saving my wife's life. This is a good hospital. The doctors are highly skilled and worthy of your trust.

Preop today for hip replacement surgery. Very impressed with the kind, thorough, efficient care. I saw many health care professionals and had several tests done with no waiting or delays. I was in and out in two hours.
