At this hospital my wife experienced prejudice based upon her that she was a foreigner. This hospital staff is absolutely atrocious. If you have an accent, be prepared for them to pull out all the stops to attempt to make your life worse or inconvenience you. If you have an accent, look or sound different from the nursing staff you can expect the staff here to go to great lengths to cause issues for you. Well the doctors were very nice and professional. I wouldn't even wish my worst enemy to experience the wrath of the nursing staff or the management. The internal complaint people are very nice but turned out to only be able to further anger the staff that you complain about when they try to fix things. Beware this is not the hospital for people who are not white, native english speakers from this country. I revised my review to a 5/5 initially after talking with the complaint staff. I honestly thought that my concerns were fully addressed. Until I got a call from a very angry manager who promised if I come back to the hospital with my wife she will make sure I will regret it.

Are all hospital like this now specially in Canada? Why so many hours waiting in Emergency? The doctor saw me after 7 hours waiting and then asked for ultrasound! Then, another 2-3 hours wait for the result. No one can do something about the process? How does the hospital charge the government for each patient? Why so many nurses and they all just walking around waiting for the Doctor! Big question how about the Doctors? Does all doctors really do their service with what they get paid? Or they're always been missing in action specially in EMERGENCY department. Are all patient treated the same way? Like asking all questions and get all the test needed while waiting. Does the Management in the hospitals and government have any resolutions with this issue? Or It all comes down with the price? I guess the longer the patients stay the charges gets higher!

Need to see a doctor? Too bad, wait 8 hours. Hoping to go to a nice clean medical facility? Let your expectations go with lakeridge. Place is absolutely disgusting, parking is 8 dollars an hour, and you'll wait for bare minimum 6 hours in the er. Here are some photos of how disgusting and unkempt this place is.

My husband & I brought our sweet baby girl into the world this weekend at Ajax Pickering Hospital. At around 1am my water broke and we checked in. I decided to go for an epidural at around 4cm and its a good thing I did. We were waiting a very long time and barely made it to 5cm. The nurses in the labor and delivery ward said I should have been progressing a bit faster so they gave me the drip (speeds the contractions along). At around 7pm we were monitoring her heart rate and mine when we noticed it was dropping. They rotated my position several times too since she was sunny side up and wanted to get her down and out easier in correct position. At around 8pm we were in panic mode and I was rushed to the OR for an emergency c-section as her heart rate kept dropping - as it turns out her cord was wrapped around her neck and in certain positions was tightening her blood supply. I am so lucky for my anesthesiologists, nurses, doctors and surgeons who I know were already understaffed and had many patients that day. They tried to make me as comfortable as possible and dealt with me being very scared and emotional so well. Those who worked directly with my husband and I deserve a special heartfelt thank you! From the bottom of our hearts we are alive, safe and healthy today because of them! <3

I'm not sure who reads these reviews from the hospital, but I want to give a huge shout out to all the nurses at the ER Department that were working Sunday afternoon. From the minute we were triaged to the registration department to the Dr, we were well looked after in a kind, courteous and respectful manner. I wish people could understand how dire health care is now. A little respect goes a long way to these wonderful front line workers who do their jobs with a smile, care and grace. Thank you for taking such good care of us!

One of the worse hospitals out there. They don’t care about anything. Zero empathy for their patients. I was in their with my daughter a few weeks ago. A lady was literally on her death bed. Her son dropped her off and said he couldn’t stay.No one cared to come And look at her. I went to the triage and told them that this lady needed to be seen before anyone else. When you are a nurse or a doctor. You need to have some Empathy. People don’t want to be in hospitals. My daughter was in for severe right side pain. Vomiting etc. it took them 6 hours to see her. This hospital always says that it’s nothing and it always ends up being something. What a waste.

I have been going to this hospital for years for both out patient procedures and emergency care. I have not had any problems with the facility or the staff. There are a lot of complaints from people about both of these on this site and I have no idea what people expect when they walk into an emergency room and don't expect a long wait. I recently had an out patient procedure and it occurred in a timely manner and the doctor and nurse that attended to me were great. That is why I decided to leave a positive comment while most reviews here are very negative.

Very rude staff on 2 West. Uncaring and no empathy for patient or family. Takes a long time for someone to come to the room when called more than once. Donna, Courtney and Sherrie very rude to my cousin. Her husband in hospital and no bath in 3 days. VERY poor nursing care. Disgrace to the profession. The emergency nurses were kind and considerate to my cousin. If there was a NO STAR I would give it. Worst hospital ever!!!

THE WORST! After waiting for an ultrasound for seven hours, being told to leave by the technician. I was then called by one of their employees to come back as they did not dismiss me. When I told them the ultrasound tech told me to leave she rudely said “well I did not say you can leave”. I then drove back to have to wait another two hours for them to administer me a injection. mind you, the doctor already gave me my results. The lady who phoned me was rude, and disrespectful. I’m sorry I didn’t get her name. She also was the same lady who greeted me when I came back for the second time and didn’t even direct me where to go. She just left me standing in the hall. The doctor was nice but that’s about it

Imagine not wanting to call 911 for an emergency because it will land you here, how messed up is that? Majority of the nurses here you can tell hate their job. It’s not fair that people get mistreated so often at this hospital. I do have respect for nurses and doctors and I do understand we are in a pandemic and ER is crazy busy, but people do have other emergencies which can be life threatening. I will add that in isolation-- these nurses actually care, in the ER, not so much. I would honestly recommend that anyone who is driving to this hospital make a u-turn. You are better off going Markham Stoufville which is 20 ish mins from Ajax or even Scarborough but won’t have you waiting 8-10 hours before getting something done and will have nurses and doctors who are so nice and actually care or any other hospital.

Zero star if possible. The health care system is broken and it cannot be fixed. To fix the system, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and premier Doug Ford (Ontario) need to go. My wife stayed in a private room at this hospital for birth of my daughter. The room cost $300 per day. The room was not cleaned for 3 days while she was staying in the room. Garbage was not picked up, bloody floor and washroom was very disgusting for $300 a night. I will prefer a private hospital where I can pay for a service and I know that I am well taken care of.. The current Trudeau and Ford government run health care system is not cheap but ridiculously expensive to the taxpayers. Citizens are paying for service they are not getting. Not sure while people are paying for a room when the service is not there. Very sad.

Went to the hospital by ambulance for reasons surrounding my mental health. I waited hours and hours but no one ever called my name/identification code(wristband). Also the staff almost seemed to lack empathy; I understand that working at a hospital comes with its challenges(as with any other job for that matter), but I don’t feel like the hardship justifies treating people/patients in a rude and heartless manner- Interrupting you before you get a chance to finish explaining how you feel to abruptly remind you that what you’re saying is irrelevant to the question, Paramedics leading you to sit down on a chair for a long while whilst they make jokes among themselves, and so on. I truly believed that of all places, I’d be understood and cared for at the hospital, but that certainly wasn’t the case at this hospital. All in all, terrible experience.

Poor Administration and Management. Whoever is running Durham region medical system must look at this hospital and facility’s and take some action and change for good. I have seen many hospitals and waiting in emergency is always was there and it’s understandable . But communication and better handling staff is a issue. very poor staff and management overall in managing. Emergency place sounds like jail or punishment section for people. Staff sounding like tough cops. Waiting room is dirty as hell. Communication level at worst. Shame this hospital is in my hometown!

There is nothing below after 1 Star otherwise i have given 0 star. I just had my planned c-section at Ajax Pickering hospital. It was my first delivery in Canada and I had very bad experience. They told me to come at Friday morning at 5(scheduled c-section at 7am). I had paid for private room. After admitting there, they told me that there is emergency c section so they can't take me. I waited for 3 more hours. Again they told me same thing. And to inform you that I was on no food no water since Thursday 12am. Finally, i was taken to operation theatre at 1pm. My operation was smooth. After operation one nurse came to do my covid test which out of nowhere came positive. They told us that my husband can't go out of hospital and he go out he can't come back. And they gave me NON-VENTILATED WITH OUT AC room to stay. They told us that we can't go out to get food. Saturday Evening my husband had to home to my elder son. At night i called nurse to gave my baby FM , they came after 2 hours and told me there was nurse shortage so don't call us , manage urself. After paying money for private room, i got the worst room. They didn't give me extra diaper for me or my baby , i told them that we have to b isolated, pls give me extra pain killer, they give only 2. If i was aware that this hospital is the worst then i might have not pregnant.

This is worst experience what I got so far. I spent 14 hours in emergency (ultra sound and procedure), then nurse told me back in next morning to take injection at 7-8am as follow up and emphasized I should step inside directly. The next morning I arrived at 7:30, and was told have to go through whole process - triage -register-etc. after I express my situation again and again they still insist I need go whole process. What I need is just antibiotic injection. Well, either communication or process has issue? My problem cause me go to emergency is abscess make me very painful trying to sit down, then I either stand or learn to chair I while 12 hours, another policy is no food or drink inside, I feel shake after 8 hours and don’t want to step out for food as doctors may be call me, I believe not only me has such experience, Almost everyone in my waiting room has to wait at least 8 hours. Another story I heard in waiting room: a lady got a CT after 8 hours and she told them she just follow up her cancer CT with doctor request but emergency still spend time to check her foot, did they hear patient?? Are those all related to Covid 19 shortage? I am not complaining any individual, instead I doubt if system or management should be enhanced?! At last, I got my injection at 8:20, which is best result I am appreciate the nurse in triage, BUT still question about the process and system!

One of the worst hospitals to go to. I went to the hospital with my 8 months old, she had severe vomitings. They literally made us wait for 6 hrs and the nurses are so rude. I think before they keep a note about asking ppl to be nice to the staff, they should teach them to be empathetic and respectful towards patients. No wonder this hospital has got worse ratings. Not even once I had a good experience with them.

Extremely poor patient intake management and expensive parking for ER. I had 2 very poor experiences here. After the first visit, each time I was in a lot of pain or discomfort, I chose to just live with it and go to a walk-in the next day. 23-Nov-2023 (recent visit) - They called in several people who came after me, including one who came 3 hours after me with minor flu like symptoms, and yet I was left sitting and waiting with a fractured/purple limb, and got to see the doctor after 6 hours of waiting and then another hour for X-ray and another hour to see the doctor again to go over the results and treatment. Doctor this time was good and actually cared (unlike my first visit), but he still had to rush me, as it was only him in a very full ER after 2 am. Sad to see how my tax dollars are being put to use and the ever worsening state of healthcare in Ontario.

One of the worst services ever . We go to an ER because we are sick but this place makes us even sick I went into the ER at 3:45pm on February 14 , the triage was good the nurse there was good too they took my ECG and blood work and details as to why I was there . Once that was done I was sent back to the waiting room I waitress till 9pm at this point I was just not feeling it . I just wanted to go home but since I was already there I decided to stay. Finally at 9pm ish they asked me to come in . The nurse she was something else , no proper directions asked me to go to the room asked why I was here (explained everything again) she took my vitals and then never came back for more than an hour . At this point I am not feeling good at all . There was a nurse walking by I asked her please can you let me know what is happening I am not feeling good . She said I could wait for the doctor or I can go home and come back if the symptoms worsened . I just could not take it anymore I left . If this is the condition of the ER I wonder how it is otherwise . I understand it’s not easy and it is a lot of work for them , but as a sick person to wait is one thing after waiting for 4 hrs and still getting in and waiting and not getting any answers is another . This is the worst ER.

If I could I would ask for negative stars for this hospital. It upsets me to feel this way since I was born there, as was my kid and grandkid. I’ve had positive experiences between birth and various surgeries, but the change in care of patients has been very noticeable. My mother was admitted into a geriatric 4E room and the treatment was horrendous. She came out with more physical pain, blisters and losing skin than she went in with due to rough handling by the nurses. A piece of advice: treat elderly patients as if they are your family. They ARE someone’s family and that family is now angry. I may now reconsider where I will have my future surgery as I don’t trust my birth hospital any longer. The physical renovations made to it are not worth it if the “care” for its patients has suffered so much. Why go to a hospital that doesn’t care properly??

My wife is 3 months pregnant - made the unfortunate mistake of coming to this hospital. Been currently waiting for almost 8 hours - hospital staff won't allow me to see my wife. They also won't allow her to eat any food / drink any water until she sees a doctor. The problem is THERE IS ONLY ONE DOCTOR. Expect a wait of 9-10 hours easily.

I wanted to publicly share my thanks and appreciation for the nurses and doctors of the labor/delivery and postpartum care units here at Lakeridge Health Ajax/Pickering. We gave birth here 2 weeks ago and were impressed by the level of care we received all throughout our labor and pp recovery. The nurses are grade A!! So knowledgeable and helpful in guiding me through all my questions regarding the various procedures. The on-call doctor was compassionate and patient. During our overnight stay in pp care, we had nurses and consultants (lactation, infant hearing, lab technicians, etc) steadily check in on us at all hours to ensure we were comfortable and intervened with helpful tips/know-how when we needed help with the baby. A huge help for first time parents such as ourselves. Thank you Lakeridge staff.

I went there by ambulance suffering a stroke over the Christmas holidays. The attendants in the ambulance were great but the ER room was understaffed and overworked (some nurses said they had not gone home all weekend). I got to see a doctor after three hours and a CT scan was done after about 5 hours. No meds or therapy were offered. Waiting room was crowded and noisy. No follow up afterwards from the Durham Stroke clinic. I had to call the Oshawa Hospital and book an appointment myself at the Stroke Prevention Clinic there. I ended up walking home as i couldn't get a cab at 4 am.

1)nurse is rude. 2) service getting worse. 3)stuff needs training. 4)longest wait time. 5) shortage of doctor. 6) emergency is just show off. 7) limited space , needs to accommodate more when needed. ……… Hospital management or , whoever related running operations of this hospital , should be doing better job or else step down (sorry to be very rude).thank you 🙏

Worst experience I have ever had as it regards hospital, no customer service, my 6 month old son has be throwing up, so I decided to rush him to the emergency about 7 pm it took them 4 hours to have him triage, then after that we had to sit another two hours until we were taken to a different waiting room, where you are supposedly waiting to see the doctor, which took another 2 and a half hour later And still nothing. My wife and I left without having or baby looked at, 8 hours of sitting and waiting, no empathy or regard for persons in need of help.

This hospital is a nightmare, and even if I was dying I would not go here. I'm one of those people who will not go to the hospital unless I have no choice. I suffer from extreme migraines, and the day I went here, I had been throwing up for 8 straight hours, to the point i was throwing up blood for the last 2. I finally dragged myself to the hospital. After throwing up blood in the waiting room for 3 hours and even other patients knowing I needed to see someone, the nurse that checks you in looked at her paper and said and I quote "you're here for a headache, I'm not worried about you. I was in actual tears from feeling like a waste for coming in. In addition the fact A NURSE doesn't know the difference between a headache and a migraine is scary. I was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm a few months later at a real hospital of course. my symptoms that day could have been a Sign of a rupturing aneurysm which absolutely would have killed me. but not a single test was run to find out what was wrong. Another patients mom who was there took care of me that night on top of her own daughter. She was an angel who i will never forget. Also, just to add to this, a few years before, my friends mom went in there with internal bleeding. she was sent home with pills and died that night in front of her kids and husband at home. Do not go to this hospital for anything serious or you may not make it out. it really is a terrible place.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Wait time is insane… I have a baby under 1 with high fever and high heart rate waiting in triage for over 6 hours, forget going to see a doctor. On top of that the nurses make it impossible for you to speak to someone in person. There’s no staff in waiting areas , tons of people having to stand and wait or sit on the floors, newborn babies left in the waiting room with tons of sick people for hours…. It honestly couldn’t get worse than this. If you’re dying, don’t come here.

Worse hospital. Don't waste your time and go to this hospital. The staff lacks empathy. We waited for 7 hours and left without seeing a doctor. Nurses only showed concern after we were walking out the door. I observed a nurse remove a lady's IV without saying a thing to her and just walking out the door. We were all confused. When she asked him if that's was all, he said yes in a very indifferent voice and kept moving. Another lady was having trouble breathing and was there for 9 hours, we left her there. Crazy? Yes, I agree. Do yourself a favour and go to Scarborough General or any other, but not this place.

Arrived for scheduled "x-ray" and it turned out they were doing CT with contrast radiological dye and it turned out they had not ordered the dye so had to cancel my test and now I must wait even longer (after a long wait) to re-schedule. Communication was also poor with regard to what to expect and where to go on day of test. This could have gone so much better with just a little effort on their part. I'm sure all the healthcare workers are overworked and stressed after 2 years of covid so I want to try to be understanding but at the same time my health is not something I should have to compromise on and delays have made it a tough year for me.

Reading all the negative comments, I was very hesitant to come here for my delivery. Nonetheless, as it was 5 min drive from my home I chose to give birth here twice. I was very happy with the service, staff and the environment. The nurses were very patient and accomodating. I have also utilized emergency service. Although it takes a few hours to get through, the doctors and nurses do make sure that we are completely okay before being released. I seriously dont understand what people expect as such is the case in almost every hospital. That is why I decided to leave a positive comment while most reviews here are very negative.

I went to emergency after feeling severe abdominal pain on Thursday. I waited 4 hours, and I wasn’t seen by Triage. I told the staff that I was in excruciating pain, and they just ignored me. I decided I couldn’t wait anymore because I was exhausted and in severe pain. My husband decided to take me to Scarborough General. After two minutes of waiting, I was seen by the Triage nurse. Within two hours at Scarborough General, I had my blood work and ultrasound and found that I had internal bleeding. I needed immediate surgery, and I’m so grateful for the Doctors, Nurses and Staff. I would’ve died if I stayed at Lakeridge. I highly recommend going somewhere else if you need immediate care. I WILL NEVER GO TO THIS HOSPITAL EVER AGAIN UNLESS I WANT A DIE.

The labour and delivery team were great. The postpartum sector was not a pleasant experience. I had my first child and needed help breast feeding. I would call them to ask for their help and they would snicker and tell me to relax. Told me to just let the kid sleep all day, but I knew I had to wake her every 2-3 hours to feed. It would have been fine if it wasn’t my first baby, but from my experience the postpartum nurses were extremely unhelpful and rude.

My girlfriend & I came to the hospital with my sister as she was experiencing some light bleeding (she is pregnant) & we waited over 7hrs for results. They let us know the ultrasound people leave around 5pm which is ridiculous!!!! It’s the ER. Hours later they finally found someone to do an ultrasound. They do not know what they are doing & are all over the place. Not the mention my girlfriend and I were waiting with my sister the whole time, we ended up going outside for fresh air and when we came back in a women with brown & blue hair told us that we weren’t aloud in with here anymore… while being extremely rude and talking to us like we were a bother. I DO not recommend coming here, you will wait hrs and hrs and be treated so poorly!!

My dad was treated here after passing out and being taken there by an ambulance. It was such a nightmare to try to find out from a doctor what his results or progress was like, nurses would take a message and say the doctor would call us only for the doctors to not call us and we'd go days without knowing information! The nurses were not allowed to tell us and repeatedly told us that as we were desperate for anything we could find out and they'd advise us only the doctor could which I guess I can understand as that's the doctor's job, but Lord help me if the doctor would pick up the phone to keep the super concerned family informed just once a day! My dad said the doctor would come visit and just ask his symptoms and not tell him either what was going on, he's older and not attentive to these things. I would go to another hospital if you can.

All the negative comments are truly disgusting here. I had to have emergency surgery here a few months ago, by far the most uncomfortable experience of my life. But from start to finish absolutely everyone I dealt with did their best to make me as comfortable as possible and were nothing short of amazing to deal with. I’d like to thank doctor D’sa as well as every nurse I dealt with in my time there. Yes, the hospital is short staffed but that is not the employees fault. You all deserve much more positive recognition than what I have seen in the review here. Thank you to everyone.

My recent experience with Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering Hospital was disheartening. My mother, in severe pain, had to endure a ~ 4.5-hour wait in the ER before seeing a doctor. Despite our repeated pleas, pain relief was provided only after a lengthy delay. When blood tests failed to provide a diagnosis, an ultrasound was needed. Astonishingly, no one was available to conduct this crucial procedure immediately, and we were given an appointment for the following day. This is simply unacceptable for an ER where immediate care should be standard. We found the staff's approach to pain management concerning. Instead of comprehensive care, the primary response seemed to be dispensing painkillers, in our case, morphine. This practice raises questions about the hospital's treatment standards. Furthermore, we encountered a lack of professionalism when our queries were dismissed outright by the attending doctor. This disregard for patient queries and concerns is deeply troubling. Based on my experience and echoed by other reviews, I encourage anyone who has faced similar issues at this hospital to report their experiences to the Ministry of Health. It's vital that we collectively address these issues and demand improvements in our healthcare system!

Absolutely the worst hospital ever. My mom had a day surgery today and was told that the hospital will give us a call once my mom wakes up to take her home. They did not call us, instead my mom asked the patient next to her if she can use their phone and called us herself. It was already nerve wracking and scary to leave my mom by herself as we were not allowed to go inside the hospital with her due to COVID protocols, the least they could have done is give us a call to let us know how she was and how her surgery went and when we could pick her up. We got no phone call, no updates. We were told that it’ll take 6-8 hours until she is able to go home, past the 8 hour mark were was still no call. It is ridiculous that the patient had to be the one to call. Lakeridge health Ajax/Pickering, do better.

Quite possibly the worst hospital in Ontario. I’m sitting here in emergency with blood running freely out of a head wound and at the rate they are taking people it will be about 5 hours before I see triage. Normally I wait here about three or fours hours before I start to get frustrated but I’m making a mess here with a blood soaked rag dripping. Not sure I have enough blood in my body to last the wait time. A woman with a similar injury hasn’t been triaged yet and she’s been here four hours.

Rating based on care at Labour and delivery ward. Majority of nurses were amazing and helpful. One nurse during my birth completely traumatized me, was rude, ignorant, disrespectful to my birthing partners and was clearly "running the show" did not have any of my wishes respected by this one nurse and I'm surprised with her bedside manner she is working in a labour and delivery ward. The mother is in charge of how she wants to birth and how it happens. This woman took that away from me and ruined what should have been a beautiful event. Overall experience was horrific and traumatic, especially for a very anxious and scared first time mother. I will never recommend this birthing ward mainly due to a few choice nurses and the absolute unprofessional conduct of them. Do your research before considering this hospital to delivery your baby. There is definitely some nurses in that ward that should NOT be working with mothers and babies.

We live in Ajax and this is our primary hospital. I don't feel good to write bad things about them but unfortunately they are below avearge hospitls in my recent experience. Long story short, my wife's blood sample got contaminated in this hospital recently and she had a painful night in ER taking antibiotics for nithing for the whole night. This is unbelievable that blood cample gets contaminated in a Canadian hospital. This is nothing but carelessness of the stuff there. My dad was there for eighteen days. He got a wound in his leg and it was developed while he was admitted there. The wound was open for few days though I asked them to cover it up several times. They couldn't do anything as they were waiting for wound care specialist to look in it. He came after four days and it got infected by then. Careless stuff. Suffering is my father's and the hospital gets paid. Unbelievable. End of the day, when you ask any nurse for anything or help, they are alwas busy. They are rude sometimes. I've seen them watching youtube movie though sitting in their desk at night. Few new nurses are really good. They pay propee attention to the patient. Doctors are just ok. Not very expert doctors there but they seem trying several things on patients and see what ever works. I informed my concern to patient relation authority. Unfortunately no feedback or reply over a month. I hear good thing about Markham hospital. I came to know they do not have any union there. I guess that's a good thing that there is no union but good health care service. Last but not least, it hearts hard working Canadian money. Spending millions of peoples money we are not getting up to the mark health care in a Canadian hospital.

This hospital is the worst period, but mainly for communication and patient advocacy, on top of just not being a well organized hospital. I came by ambulance and have now been waiting 4 days just to be diagnosed. It took me 3 days just to find out what they were testing for and all the while I have had 1 meal because their dietary orders make no sense. They don't communicate to the patient. The doctor shows face, tells you that they're going to run tests and then they communicate to the nurses what they should be communicating to you. Why am I finding out that I'm getting antibiotics just before it gets put in my IV? Why am I finding out I can't eat when the breakfast server tells me they have no food for me. Why am I getting a questionnaire to review while the porter is ready to take me to a test that the questionnaire is needed for? Why am I sleeping in a hallway for 3 days? The only saving grace is the nurses and porters, who shouldn't have to stick up for the hospitals well below average management of their facilities and doctors. I'm not impressed. OHIP should start issuing fines and penalties or withholding payments for below standard care. No wonder there is so much talk about privatization. Only profits can motivate and incentivize good care apparently.

I've had 3 children born by c section, partial hysterectomy, hernia repair, gall bladder removal, breast lumpectomy and I have never had a single issue or concern with Ajax staff! Each one of my kids have had to attend emergency for one reason or another with no issues. My husband was on deaths door due to his colon leaking into his body. If it hadn't been for the surgeon, I'd be a widow today. I get sometimes the wait is long in emerg but there is always a reason for this. Everything is based on priority of circumstance. The physicians & nursing staff are the best! With covid-19 they are doing their best. Isn't another hospital I would trust. Thank you Lakeridge Health Ajax!

As a longtime resident of the area I have had many experiences with this hospital. While some have been better than others, all have been more than satisfactory. I am currently recovering from a surgical procedure to fix a fractured femur. I have an appointment with the fracture clinic for this week on a day that is predicting 10-15 centimetres of snow. I called and asked about rescheduling and the nurse answering could not have been more pleasant and helpful. This is a very busy department but she was so kind and accommodating. I apologized and said I’m sure many will want to reschedule and she told me not to worry. She told me if I needed to reschedule again to call…they totally understand. Thank you Ajax Pickering for being my neighbourhood hospital.

0 Stars. Better to die at home than come to this ER. It's just a basic queue, no point of triage. My grandmother who is 90 years old sat waiting for 11+ hrs even after having a history. Close this ER down and save lives.

Recently went into day surgery for two procedures. I have possibly autism, definitely ADHD, and experienced a lot of sensory overload. Every member of the staff was kind and accommodating to anything I needed, honestly could not have asked for a better experience. While I did experience some unavoidable discomfort, it has been minimal and nurses were happy to answer any questions I might have and explained everything. I'll never be glad to go to a hospital, but this is truly a good one filled with kind and caring people.

My experience at this hospital was amazing and very pleasant. I had my baby girl delivered there, all the doctors, nurses are so professional, kind and friendly. They make sure that I understand everything and have all useful information that I needed. Thanks so much for your hard work and your kindness !!!!

My dad died here 5 years ago through no fault of the hospital, he had a massive brain aneurysm and became brain dead pretty instantly, it was extremely traumatic And I was angry and avoided this place for a long time. But I just had surgery here myself and the experience has been wonderful, from pre-op appts, to the anesthesiologist taking lots of time to answer all my questions, to the nursing staff day of surgery and in the OR to the surgeon. Everyone was extremely kind, supportive and answered all my questions. For my first surgical experience I have zero complaints.

Last spring, I had a broken bone in my foot looked after here. Yes, you have to wait in Emergency - in every single hospital in Ontario. Yes, cases are prioritized according to severity. Doctors and nurses work long hard hours. They come into this profession wanting to help you, but if a hospital has such consistently bad reviews, that is mostly a reflection of the management. It is also a reflection of the provincial Ministry of Health. There are good and bad employees and managers in all businesses. My foot was looked after reasonably promptly and competently in an acceptable length of time on a Saturday afternoon (three to four hours). Thanks to the staff, who work weekends, holidays, overtime, and at all hours of the day for looking after me. I am not in the medical profession, but I appreciate the hard work of those who are.

That person at the COVID screening desk at Ajax-Pickering hospital (west entrance) should not be working there. She was extremely rude with patients and threatened with security. She was put there to take care og patient's safety and to follow COVID protocols and run pre-screening, but instead she tried to grab my personal phone with her hands instead of scanning the QR code from a distance. What kind of COVID protocol is that when a person touches hundreds of phones per day and increases chances of virus transmission from one person's phone to another? When I rejected to give my personal phone into her hand she started escalating the conflict and threatening with security. Is this the hospital's official policy to actually demand and touch patient's personal belongings (phones) in order to permit access to hospital premises? The tone she communicated to a patient was rude and disrespectful. This person refused to call her supervisor and even refused to provide hospital's contact number to call and leave a complaint. She definitely requires some additional training on conflict de-escalation.

The worst hospital you can be in.. Rude nurses in Emergency.. Unprofessional staff.. If you could avoid this hospital, please do so... Not recommended at all!! I wish I had a way to rate 0.. This is not my first time here and my experience is based on multiple visit... Ajax/Pickering needs a better hospital

I was met with understanding staff who had compassion for my condition and responded in kindness. From entering the building, I was met with volunteers who assisted me. To the intake staff who guided me. To the pre operation staff who understood my nerves. To the operating crew who listened to my words and gave me a solution. Just ask questions. I've also attended an emergency several years ago. Please understand that emergencies have priority, and you will have to wait due to the on call doctor bb in OR. Bring a bag with goodies with you to emergency if you have the time.

Can't even put into words how terrible the triage and er staff are (not the doctors). I'd rather have succumbed to my illness than have dealt with them. The nurses are rude and incompetent. Avoid this whole place like the plague, trust me

The nurses are trying their best however the staff are very Loud on the unit! 3East. My mother is in with a knee replacement .The receptionist has a condescending attitude. Every time my mother rings her call bell the tone of ‘yes what is it’ is like they are doing her a favour. Ring the bell for a support to move my mother up in bed., after I ME takes her to the washroom( Iv and all)no one comes after two calls. Really disappointed. I’m also going to contact an ombudsman as they moved my mother from her original room, where she was comfortable and placed her in with a woman(bless her) who has been screaming in pain. No one can give us a reason why she is moved. She will be demanding discharge tomorrow. Very disappointed. I’m afraid to say too much as I do need to leave at some point! We’ll manage better at her home. I’ve already filled her home prescriptions. Surgeon was excellent Dr Frombach

Waiting since 3pm. With sever pain no one is treating , and when ask for Doctors staff of Ajax emergency hospital says wait outside with loud and Shutting Door on our face treating like animals because our color is not white, so much Discrimination in Canada, not at all appreciate your health care services, your Doctors are not well trained or able to handle any single case properly or trat patients in well manners, so many patients left Waiting 7 to 8hrs. And all health care staff 100hrs. Starring on computer like IT guys they are in health care system or In IT.???? From 3pm. Still here it is midnight I don't have job and no money with sever back pain can not walk far park my vehicle here now more then 9 hrs. Who will pay my parking money? They do purposely so they get more parking money and most people get upset and leave, if I can I will give minus 100 star but there is no option for 0 star or minus still waiting for reports, only God can help!

The pediatric dept has absolutely no training when it comes to severe Autism in children. From the doctors right down to the nurses. They NEED to educate themselves on what Autism is and how it effects each child differently.

Knowing that pressure on our Health Care system is great, I was super grateful for the medical professionals who assisted my son today. After we explained our issue and that a local clinic had said they couldn’t help him, the triage nurse at Ajax Pickering was super positive and indicated we were at the right place. Our son was in and out in two hours with an x-ray, a diagnosis, and a meaningful consult with Dr. Ron. Thank you!!

Great hospital and wonderful staff. The doctors, nurses, janitorial staff… everyone was great. My child received great care. She had previously received poor care at the Bowmanville hospital but this hospital and staff were completely different. She stayed here for over a week and we are extremely happy with the care received. The facilities are good as well and parking is fairly affordable and easy to access. My only critique is there is no food facilities.

Nurse in triage was great however waited from 4 pm till 12 am to see the doctor. I asked a nurse when will I see a doctor I can sense no care in the world . Finally got treated and left after 1 AM . I should've of been isolated due to the symptoms however was told to sit in the waiting area with others. The doctor was great he was able to determine the illness and glad covid test was negative .

Went in for a MRI which my family physician recommended. Must say I was impressed. Went to the MRI department and Irina at the reception desk greeted me and was extremely pleasant. Explained the whole procedure, helped me fill in the appropriate forms as it was my very first time doing a MRI. Very helpful. Keith the MRI technician was superbly helpful and pleasant, here likewise advised me ahead of time it was going to be loud, no doubt it was but it is what it is. Handed me ear plugs for defusing the noise of the machine. I was very grateful to Keith and Irina for the wonderful experience. Great job guys. 👍👍.

I was in the hospital this past summer for 38 days and my experience was very positive. Two surgeries in that time period and the staff was awesome. In this time of the pandemic and short staff, the nurses were always pleasant and took their time with me. On another positive note, the food was actually very very good.

Worse hospital I’ve ever been to. The nurse straight up lied and told us we were next but continued to call onto other patients. People who came after us were being seen. Nurse we dealt with was extremely mean for no reason. Do not recommend this hospital. Longest wait time I’ve ever witnessed.

Honest to God if I could rate this lower than a 1 I would. Nothing but horrible experiences here. When I was a child I had a throat infection that required surgery. There were no beds available which is understandable, but my throat was closing up and needed immediate attention. So they quite literally sat me in a chair in a dark room with someone holding down my arms as the doctor cut out the infected abscess near my tonsils with a sharp instrument. No anesthesia whatsoever....I was maybe 11years old at the time. After that, I was merely given gauze to help the bleeding and the doctor left as I was with my mom there crying my eyes out. Separate occasion. My mother had an allergic reaction to some medication she had just been prescribed. I rushed her to the emergency room and was prevented by the security guard from speaking to anyone as there was a line up. Again, I am extremely understanding and can comprehend the fact that emergencies are emergencies, non discriminatory, but the fact of the matter is when someone is unable to breathe.....you can't wait your turn. I was screaming at the staff before finally someone opened the doors and asked what was going on... this was all going on meanwhile I could hear those same staff members laughing and talking loudly behind their closed doors. Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. When I got hit by a car I didn't even bother going to the hospital and ironically I ended up okay. This hospital is absolutely horrible and there is a very good reason that the inside joke around Ajax natives that if you have a heart attack, you go to Toronto before you fkn go to this place.

What is up with the volunteer on covid screening. Infuriating attitude. Thank you for giving your time, but KFC way to kill an already high blood pressure. Hats off to nursing staff, they were supportive and great in what we all know has been such rough times.

Absolutely terrible, only once nice nurse. The rest treat you like garbage. My wife had server back pain in Tailbone, waited 7 hours, and dodnctors didn't see her. It wasn't busy at all less than 40 people over a period of 7 hours !!

We had rough experience with long waits at emergency with our elder one a year ago, but we had new addition to the family this month, maternity ward, doctors and staff were amazingly helpful and treated with care. Such a smooth experience. We were informed by few people to choose another hospital for delivery but we decided to go with this location and thankful we did it. Big thank you to doctors and staff ❤️❤️❤️

This is the worst hospital ever. You are seriously better off staying at home. Being understaffed is not an excuse for being terrible people too. I know too many people who have needlessly died here. Sickening.
