I
arrived
a
few
minutes
late
for
a
Yoga
Tree
class
and
had
previously
requested
a
possible
accommodation,
which
the
gym
agreed
to
depending
how
late.
However,
upon
arrival,
I
was
turned
away
for
being
'almost
ten
minutes
late.'
It
was
at
the
gyms
discretion
how
late
they
would
allow,
and
they
decided
that
7
minutes
was
too
late.
While
I
understand
the
importance
of
gym
policies,
I
couldn't
help
but
notice
that
the
instructor
also
arrived
late,
and
the
class
had
just
begun
when
I
arrived.
I
have
an
invisible
impairment
that
can
affect
my
schedule
adherence,
and
I
believe
it
would
be
beneficial
if
businesses
were
more
understanding
of
such
situations,
recognizing
that
people
come
from
diverse
backgrounds
and
circumstances.
Although
I
was
offered
the
option
to
wait
for
the
next
class,
the
interaction
with
the
receptionist,
especially
regarding
the
shoes-off
policy,
felt
somewhat
unwelcoming
and
punitive.
Given
that
I
was
initially
there
to
join
a
friend
who
was
already
in
the
class
I
was
denied
entry
to,
attending
the
next
class
alone
felt
uncomfortable.
I
want
to
emphasize
that
Yoga
Tree's
actions
aligned
with
their
lateness
policy,
as
stated
on
their
website.
The
receptionist
was
simply
following
the
gym's
policies.
However,
for
me,
yoga
is
about
relaxation
and
rejuvenation,
and
I
prefer
an
environment
that
feels
more
laid-back
and
personal
