Stumbled upon this place for a couple drinks during a day out exploring the Junction. There were many options to choose from. The staff were all very friendly and kind. I loved the atmosphere of this spot. It felt very comfortable and cozy. We tried the Willibald Strawberry Rhubarb hard seltzer, the Collective Arts Raspberry Orange hard seltzer, and the Slake Hatch pale ale. Everything was great. The menu looked amazing and I can't wait to come back and try the food. Would definitely recommend this spot to friends.

We had a really great experience there. No reservations for small parties and walk ins only. We didn’t wait too long before seated at the bar. Overall, we were happy with meal, drinks and ambiance, but they were far from 5 star rating. Here is my break down on the food we tried: calamari was a bit saggy but flavorful. Toad in the hole was probably the best, fresh sausage and pudding batter. Sheppard’s pie was so-so, if you like strong lamb flavor you’d probably like the pie, to me it lacked proper seasoning and spices. Panna cotta was standard, Negroni was very aromatic with complex profile( loved it). The menus were awful, degraded and mostly torn pieces ( I get the hip vibe but still menus should be reprinted) . Serve staff were not auper friendly, rushed , and a bit aggressive in taking orders. Some diversity training for them would be beneficial.

Outstanding on every level. If you can find a spot, tuck into some great burgers and a ton of other tasty things. Nice local beers on tap and the coziest decor. A true gem of the Junction.

If you can get a seat it's a great spot with top atmosphere to hangout with your significant other or have a date. Oysters were crisp and fresh (coming from a non osyter person). Drink selection is wide and delicious. Would come back again.

My favourite whiskey bar! Check out their sister joint, Bothams, right next door. Extremely friendly staff, very helpful, and beautiful interior. However if you come here when it’s busy on Friday and Saturday nights, be prepared to wait! It's popular for a reason ;) their brunch is excellent too.

This was my second time visiting this location after having just a few cocktails the first time, my boyfriend and I went back a second time for dinner and more drinks. I'm very happy we did! Here are the Five S's for anyone wanting to visit this excellent restaurant in future (for dinner or just for drinks): Space: A very unique space with a "seat yourself" policy, meaning you can find the perfect little snug hideaway at the back, or choose to sit at the bar or the high-top tables with a great view of the unique and appealing interior. A very eclectic mix of random memorabilia, antiques, whisky bottles and a very charming bar with an excellent selection of spirits Seasoning/spice: We started with two martinis which were very well made, then went on to have the "Chinatown" calamari which was delicious and well-seasoned. The main courses were a Toad In The Hole which consisted of a huge, home-made Yorkshire pudding, a delicious Cumberland Sausage which was actually a traditionally made British sausage which was surprising and delicious. I had a Lamb Shepherd's Pie which was delicious, with a light and fluffy mashed potato, seasoned well with a very tasty, meat filled Lamb part. Fantastic. We finished with more cocktails and aged Whisky (they have an amazing selection of Whisky). Size: Delicious food and the right size. Not too big and not too small. Spend: The prices are worth it for the quality of the food. You won't be disappointed. Typically main courses are around $20-25 but again the quality of ingredients means it's totally worth it. Service: Very good service, attentive staff who are knowledgeable about the drinks and the dishes.

This is my favourite bar in the Junction area. The place is small and seemingly crowded but very cosy and lively. I feel that sitting so close with other people adds to the intimate atmosphere. The food is fantastic, the craft beer selection is great and the Dollar-ish Oyster Tuesdays are a hit as always.

Very cozy neighborhood haunt. Expansive food menu that it shares with sister restaurant Botham's (next door). We had the sourdough pizza and latkes, both delicious. They also have a huge drink menu, beer, ciders, cocktails etc. Don't come here with a group bigger than 4 or 6.

Was pretty good. Fish and chips and burger were yummy. The mushy peas that came with the fish was a bit odd tho, would have prefered slaw. Very humid/hot in the restaurant today, but considering it's such a small space that is understandable, ice in the water might be a good idea...

Best place to meet friends for food &/drinks ..., outdoor or indoor seating . Food & drinks are always flavourful , never been disappointed. Owner & staff are polite & always helpful if you're having a hard time deciding on drinks &/or food . Sunday's roast beef dinner never disappoints ! Takeout available for anything on menu . Absolutely recommend this junction area bar/restaurant.

Decided to check out a different restaurant in the neighborhood. Thought the name of the place was cool, so we went. Place was fantastic, the price was perfect and the ambiance was interesting. BUT the waiter was very entitled. Service was when he wanted to provide it. Not when we needed it. Very unpleasant person. Made the vist regrettably disappointing. Since I can't give a score lower than 1, decided it wasn't worth giving it another try.

Absolutely gorgeous and fantastic vibes in this place! I didn't know what to expect but it still trumped my expectations. Highly recommended for anyone looking for arguably the best pub atmosphere, food and drinks. Below you can see two cocktails and their regular pepperoni pizza. (Long Island wasn't technically on the list but they served it!)

The burger at this neat little joint is outstanding. I love a good burger and they are hard to find. Here they are flavorful (not bland like most places to, making it necessary to add ketchup) and juicy. Service is good. Great atmosphere. Great all round.

Sometimes I'm disappointed I keep coming back....I want to try other spots...but it's really the best in the hood. Everything on the menu is great, awesome beer/booze selection...how can you go wrong. Lovely steak frites...slightly overcooked for medium rare....perfect fries and beautiful cut of meat.

This place’s ambiance is lovely, perfect to enjoy a “night out” without all the hustle and bustle of central Toronto. The lowkey vibes and private concept really made the experience feel like you were in your own, well decorated little world. The drinks definitely have a kick to them, which is appreciated as many places in Toronto offer little to not alcohol to taste in your drink. Would visit again while in the area!

Great little neighbourhood spot with an excellent selection of beers, ciders and cocktails. Staff were very accommodating of our request to finish our meal by a specific time. Can’t comment on the full menu, but the cacio pepe pizza was delicious with a chewy sourdough crust and well balanced toppings. Looking forward to going back to try a few other things on the menu!

They serve delicious food though it takes a while to be served. But it is worth the wait because it tastes good.

I recently went here with my sister and her husband who just flew in from b.c and immediately needed a dinner so we came here. A local recommended that we were walking by and overhead us looking for a patio. We had the hole in the wall burger and fries and wow. Incredibly delicious and tasted so fresh. The fries also fresh cut not processed years ago. Delicious with malt vinegar and they ketchup in a glass bottle too. The fried calamari was devoured quickly by the rest and was said to be very tasty as well as the starters and this very delicious sourdough bread with some amazing cheese, I can't see to locate it on the menu though. Overall, I do not drink beer but there is a huge selection if that's what your looking for, and same with wine and other drinks/cocktails. The HITW burger is what I'm definitely coming back to eat on that patio. It was the best burger I've had in months. I did not venture inside. But I would guess it's very classic as the neighborhood around it is very old and beautiful and historic. Great experience! Do visit.

I’ve walked by this place far too many times, and finally visiting it recently made me regret not going in sooner. Food was fantastic and our server was great. He was quick to make drink suggestions “off menu” when my friend mentioned a preference for rum, something most places these days seem to avoid or discourage. We could not believe how good the playlist was, it came up in conversation no less than 5 times. Seats by the front door were a little chilly, not so much a complaint but something to be aware of.

My boyfriend and I really like it here. The service is exceptional and the vibes are very chill. They have an excellent beer selection and a huge scotch and spirits list. Cocktails are consistently well crafted. I love this place!

Each time we step into THITW, it's a good experience; staff, selection, cozy atmosphere. Staff work their butts off while maintaining a pleasant and engaging experience. Recently, we had a great conversation in good detail about local musicians. It's those small things that matter. Beer and cocktails are on point. Haven't had the chance to sit down to a meal. One day! THITW is a Junction institution. So go!

After searching for a Sunday Roast meal in Toronto, we decided to try this place for the first time. Al I can say is ‘WOW!’. Best Sunday roast meal we’ve had ever, and yes we’ve had a few! Bravo (tho the place is small and fills up quickly, so I hope I’m not letting out a secret!).

Love eating inside here, such a wonderful cozy place. We always go for wood fired pizza. Plus they offer County Cider (blackberry peach specifically!) Love taking friends here whenever I'm introducing them to the Junction.

It was some time ago when we enjoyed this cafe/bar. It’s quite narrow with an eclectic/grunge style of decor. The staff were excellent and attentive, the food was decent. Would defiantly try this place again should we be in the area!

Excellent service, fantastic food with options for all. Highly recommend for a night out. The vibe inside is where it’s at, and even though we sat outside, the staff carry that vibe with them. Super chill, great cocktails, top notch food.

Have LOVED THITW since my first stumble upon it ages ago!! Casey F -our original bartender has moved on elsewhere but always good to see owner -Ben when we head in for Tuesday Buck-a-Schuck night. Its a hit-or-miss on determining how busy it gets each Tuesday but DEF make it a point to arrive earlier than later bcuz those mollusks have been known to run out here bcuz they are that Damn fresh!! Spirits & wine list is extensive and impressive in its own right, while aptly priced. Food is eclectic and unique as the staff -best description for cuisine is comfort classics with a modern twist....and done quite well, if I may add. Their fries are not just any fries but those luxuriously bathed in duck fat, making them crispy, golden and ohhh so Yum!! DEF not for the faint of heart Pork Belly lettuce wraps hit it on par! The dressing is beautifully balanced with the tang, spice, salty and sweet on the palatte against the outer crisp and buttery soft fat texture of the pork belly, that simply melts in your mouth without feeling heavy and weighted in the stomach. Now let's talk about their Philly Cheesesteak bcuz its not Ur average...we are talking super luxurious starting with a hearty slice of their sourdough (?) bread generously buttered (I'm not kidding about the generous part) then smothered with (?)bechamel before being layered with some really juicy & flavoury razor-thin slices of beef and topped with cheese and finally paired with a generous portion of well-known duck-fat fries. I highly suggest postponing your cardiologist appt for at least 2wks post consumption of this!! And yet, no regrets on this indulgence. Never any regrets when visiting The Hole In The Wall

Date night vibes are outta this world! I absolutely love the eclectic and romantic atmosphere. The food is absolutely delicious, and FRESH. Wonderful cocktails, a fun selection of local beers, and a big wine list. The customer service is amazing, everyone is so nice!

Great company! Excellent food and drinks. Great selection. Amazing pizza. Service was second to none. The atmosphere is incredible and there is a true sense of community once you walk in. They take care of their community which is very rare now a days. Thanks for everything and we will be back again!

Delicious! Came back here tonight for the first time in several years. The paté is ridiculously good, also had oysters, smoked olives and beautifully cooked calamari. Great service and great beers on tap. Love this place!

I went here for the first time on a Friday night. The place was pretty narrow especially near the bar. The gnocchi was great, I'm glad I finally found a gnocchi dish with white sauce. The server was very nice and gave me a sample of the stout I hesitated to get. The place was pretty dark and I struggled to read the menu a bit, but the cool interior made up for it.

Loved everything we ordered. Sour dough toast with pate was delicious, as well as fresh oysters and their pizza. Calamari was perfectly cooked as well, not chewy at all. Decent selection of craft beers 🍻 Highly recommend this place & it's next door (same management)

This is such a new discovery for me in the Junction/ Dundas area. The place is easy to be missed, but you have to check them out and try their amazing pizzas, their Fish & Chips plus their beers and cider (the grape open is amazing) on tap. Nice environment and beautiful people behind this business 🥰

Dropped into the hole in the wall to have a quick drink before heading out to dinner and was pleasantly surprised as we sat at the bar and ordered some amazing cocktails and enjoyed the atmosphere of such a small but quaint local bar. The prices were very reasonable the service was fantastic and the atmosphere was lovely. I would definitely return if I was back in the neighborhood again.

  • 4/5 Jason F. 1 year ago on Google
Drink selection is plentiful (this may be an understatement). I need to explore the food, but will surely return to do so. Atmosphere is calm (before 11pm, not sure after) with loud music (some of which I could sing along too. Just a warning on sub zero days, the first few tables will be drafty. To (start and) finish on positive notes the service was attentive and efficient considering it was a full house when I was there.
