I could give no star if possible. son was tested positive and with a high fever this morning, so I brought him to Emergency. the triage nurse was having a bad day for sure, she was so rude; when I told her that my son has a positive result, she then yelled at me and asked "positive for what"???? after being lead to acute rooms, she left me and my son in a toilet size room with another woman and her child, the woman was coughing deadly, so I asked the nurse (her name is Lindsay), tall and blonde, I said that I am negative, I don't want to be in the same room as the other lady and my son was not coughing at all, I certainly don't want my son's condition got worsen. this nurse basically said that because my son is positive I will be positive as well; after I told her that we wear masks when at home near my son she then said "fine". and she asked me not to touch anything and don't look at her screen while asking her questions ( I wasn't even looking, the screen was small anyway). she told me that there were 65 patients with only 1 doctor at that moment, and the way she treated me was like I have COVID too and discriminated me like I was the virus. it's impossible to have only 1 doctor to treat 65 patients. this hospital especially the nurses are the worst of my experience. would not want to go there again. please let me know how I can personally file a complaint against this nurse I met this morning at emergence (Acute area). again, her name is Lindsay. she has no respect and no passion. the hospital has signs telling us to respect the doctors and nurses, but if they don't treat us with respect, why should they worth our respect???????

Few months back, I was at the emergency. I spend 7 hours there in pain and no much help. I fell on the floor and they threatened me that if i didn't get up they would call the security to escort me out. I told them that I couldn't and need it their help to get up. They refused and they told me that it wasn't their job to help me get up. After all this time, they told me that there was nothing wrong with me. Later that day I went to another hospital where I had an urgent surgery for my issue. This people are the worst and looks like they hate their job.

DO NOT GO TO SOUTH LAKE FOR ANY MENTAL HEALTH RELATED ISSUES. South lake is a joke when it comes to immediate crisis situations. Please, if you need urgent help, go to a different hospital. I was admitted twice in the adolescent psych ward at South lake. Their goal is to get the patients out of there as soon as they can, whether or not the patient is safe is the least of their concerns. There had been multiple times where the staff would say incredibly disrespectful things about my parents to me, or would tell graphic stories in disgusting detail about previous patients wounds. Even in emergency, nurses had accused me of lying multiple times about self harm since I was hesitant on showing them. Nobody had ever seen that part of me and I was scared to show anyone. But again, empathy is the least of their concerns. Staff were cold and rude and would treat you like a part of their pay check, instead of a human. I was so scared to reach out after I was discharged the second time because that was the last place I wanted to go again. So instead of going to south lake, I was driven to SunnyBrook in Toronto. Psychiatrists listen and take real time and effort to help you and get to know you. Staff are kind and I had left genuinely doing better. Please for your own well being, do not go to south lake. It does more damage then good.

I was in a bad car accident Christmas eve and taken to Southlake. I was alone and absolutely terrified, all I wanted was my mom and dad. I was in so much pain, probably crying loudly just wanting my parents and for someone to hold my hand.... that's when nurse Sabina walked over, leaned right over me and said "Hayley, you're 26 years old. You don't need anyone to hold your hand" , then walked away. I felt like a peice of meat, a burden, alone, scared, and absolutely no reassurance was given to me in that moment. She could of even passed me my phone that I couldn't reach because of my broken rib and ankle, so I could call my parents for comfort...but she belittled my emotions and made me feel more sad and alone. Nurse Sabina, I pray you always have someone to hold your hand when you need it, even if you are incapable of offering yours. Also upon admission, I was told I have a nasty hip laceration on my left side from the seat belt, and ZERO wound care was ever provided, no one even gave me something to clean it. I have photos...and insurance knows. .

Horrible emergency staff. The staff and doctors there are very negligent. You could be waiting hours to see a doctor and have them only speak to you for 10 seconds. Very disorganized with little to no space to treat patients. Constantly being put in one room then another and having 4 patients squeezed into one little room. My father went into emerge twice in less than 12 hours as they were incompetent the first time and did not properly treat him. A total of 3 hospital visits were made and the last one was at Major Mackenzie hospital. I would highly recommend going there vs Southlake. The staff there were knowledgeable and genuinely cared about patient care. They are very organized and had lots of space to make sure the patient receives the help they need. Southlake needs to a learn a thing or two from MMH about patient care. Would not recommend this hospital to anyone.

Two weeks ago I gave birth there. They gave me the freedom to give birth as I wanted. The birth went well and without intervention. I liked how they care about my feelings and try to help all the time. Everything went so well! Nurses and doctor Yang are very friendly ❤️ Thanks so much 🙏

We brought my mom here last year in a v bad state after going through another hospital emergency twice with extremely bad experience, the third time we ended up here as ambulance brought her here, the nearest hospital. THANK GOD, Dr. Watt was there and he saved my mom life, he went out of his way to take care of her, prepare her for operation, do all the test and transfer her. THANK YOU, WE NEED MORE DR LIKE HIM, knowledgeable, kind, professional. I would like to also thank all the nurses there for being so nice, patient and kind. THANK YOU

The Right Choice: I went through the Emergency Room started with Spider bite in Florida, eventually ended up in ER, ICU and Cardiac wards, the most professional Doctors and Nursing staff absolutely wonderful nurses. Their kindness was appreciated, very compassionate and passionate, totally considerate and caring. Now recovering and so far so good. Great Communication during and as an outpatient.

Southlake Regional Health Centre has grown into and become a University-Affiliated Teaching and Research facility through many years. It is located in Newmarket Ontario Canada and specialized in advanced Cardiac, Cancer, and Thoracic Cares! With the capacity of 400 patient beds, the Centre has been committed to developing and providing the advanced patient care to the more than one million people locally! Their dedication is tremendous and appreciated by the people they care about!

These Doctors are more there for the money than actually helping out their patient. It feels so rushed . I don't know their names. Asian Doctor with long hair in the ER. Rushes you and wants you out, even on serious illnesses and Dr Creighton. He saw my mother and his eyes were so red I thought he was high. My mother came in for back pain did a Ct Scan to find out she has a tumor and right away he sends her home. On my kids these Doctors in this hospital need to be investigated on how fast they get the patient to leave. Disgusting. Google Dr. Creighton Hui. He has misconduct and 200 k in fines

Disorganized, understaffed, filthy and depressing. My Dad is on week three there and has heard constant complaints of how tired, over worked and understaffed they are. We’re sorry for their broken system, but def wished we’d know before surgery that they were that unable to do their jobs. They work hard to diminish any confidence, trust and comfort. No place for care or healing.

I just was in for my prenatal appointment and I'm really shocked and disappointed that I saw so many nurses with no masks on in the hospital. Specifically the prenatal unit. Nurses were in the hallway with no masks on eating and chatting, I unfortunately had to pass them and thought common courtesy at the least they'd put their masks on while a pregnant woman had to pass them but no, just glaring.. then in the office I had to check in to the woman there and she didn't have a mask on at all. Zero care at all and now I'm just extremely uncomfortable that these are the people I'm having to deliver my baby around yet they have no ounce of care for their patients safety during these times. No wonder there is a nurse shortage due to COVID. No one takes this seriously and it's disturbing. Please Southlake tighten your rules for patient and staff safety. There's no excuse.

The doctors and staff do the best they can with what they have. Which isnt much This hospital had basically not changed beside the parking deck and the offices across the bridge since it was built. It serves Aurora, Newmarket, Keswick, King city , East gwillimbury , Bradford, sharon, West Gwillumberry, Witchchurch stouville , Gerogina New tecumseh. The imaging equipment and digital equipment is very old. Many vets have far superior equipment and imaging software. They still use 2d images. Not sure how the doctors can see anything with the poor quality images. The lab lacks the capability to detect pathogens and most toxins. Equipment is seriously lacking. You cannot expect amazing results with 1970s technology. As many hospitals around the world have robots doing surgery . Our hospitals struggle for basic needs such as space for patients. Everyone likes to blame the doctors and staff who have no workspace. Horrible equipment. No space for patients. Everyone is rushed, lacks a organized structured workspace and is under pressure to sort through as many people as possible . Somehow over the decades all governments have been stripping funding slowly from social services. Now we are here. A health system on the verge of collapse. Stressed out workers at their limit. Very poor diagnostic equipment. No Centralised database which would be run by a deep learning program to gather group and identify symptoms with illness using multiple variables thus freeing up the medical staff time and making diagnosis simpler . You can't blame the staff or the system when nobody has bee fighting for the improvements for decades. Doctors assume things and use opinions bc they must rush and have very little time. All this creates massive deaths in medical malpractice close to 40 000 deaths a year. Unfortunately spending cuts for governments in social services has always been the first thing to get chopped. Corporations then put profits before people and the environment causing many of the illnesses and diseases that end up in hospitals. Our politicalicans are funded by corporations . 2 corporations own all of the media , all of pharma , and most of what you see with assets over 20 trillion. So we allowed this and this is the result. Ww should apologize to the staff who have this conditions to work with. The hospital lab is not capable of diagnosing most pathogens so the cause of most major diseases cant be diagnosed. Reports put pathogen diagnosis in Canadian hospitals below 15%. EU is 64% Cite Journal of medicine , national library of medicine

I'm not sure why the rating for this hospital is so low. Comparatively speaking to some of the more well known and maybe reputable hospitals in Toronto, Southlake is hands down the best hospital my wife and I have been to. We've unfortunately had to visit the ER a few too many times over the last couple of months due to a high risk pregnancy and by far the professionalism and compassion shown by each person at Southlake was phenomenal. From the moment we arrived into the ER we were treated as people and not numbers. If you're within reasonable driving distance and don't won't to slog it out on the 400 series highways to get to one of the more 'prestigious' hospitals in the city I'd highly recommend Southlake. These folks are really putting the 'care' back in 'Healthcare'.

Doctor G. Puri is arrogant, rude, disrespectful and lacks compassion. He walked out during my exam. While waiting for an emergency 6+ people placed in a small room with arms basically touching prior to covid testing. You would assume the hospital would get the concept of social distancing. After ten hours I felt worse, I would highly recommend a different hospital. Newmarket should be ashamed.

I was taken by Ambulance to Southlake on October 31st 2021. I was treated ver, very y poorly. I was treated as a drug seeker although clearly displaying a half of a hip and major swelling. I was in tremendous pain. They sent me on my was with a medication for Psychiatric patients and extra strength Tylenol. 12 days later I was scene by a different Emergency who within hours found I had been walking with a broken pelvis for 12 days. The hospital I turned to after South Mistake Hospital has admitted me and have been the most humane experience I have ever had. South Mistake Hospital is the worst Hospital I have ever been in, In all of 5 Provinces and really need lessons in Medical Practice, Compassion, Empathy and Decency towards Patients. In my opinion it's better to not receive any treatment at South Mistake as it truly is a place lacking in all things Humane. Do not go here and never take loved ones here Cat. I would give a No Star but Reviews will not allow posting unless there is at least 1 star chosen.

My mom had recently had a heart attack and was experiencing a terrifying nose bleed that wouldn't stop. She was visibly scared and speaking in a panicked manner. Rather than be compassionate towards her, one of the triage nurse just reprimanded her for not having her mask up to her nose (while her nose was bleeding and she had a large chunk of tissues up her left nose). Really? Is the world really going to end if she doesn't have that mask to her nose while she's bleeding profusely? Both her and the other nurse spoke to her in a condesending manner and lacked any patience. I realize we arrived at the hospital late (~midnight) and it must've been a long day for them. But I don't think that excuses rude behaviour especially towards someone who was so scared.

I was recently admitted into the hospital after surgery, where I spent 5 days. The nursing staff on the surgical floor were amazing. All of my nurses were wonderful and very attentive. I know how busy they all were but I never felt I was burdening anyone even if all I needed was a glass of water. I was given a menu near the beginning of my stay and was able to order what I wanted to eat for my daily meals. The food was actually decent for hospital food. A big thank you to my nurses Sammy, Sean and Eli you were all amazing.

My husband was in Southlake for 10 days on the fifth floor. He said the nurses were exceptional, they even made popcorn one night for all the patients. His nurses were friendly and helpful making his recovery easier. He had nothing but good things to say about the hard working dedicated nurses and other staff members. During these difficult times in the health care industry anyone working in hospitals, nursing homes etc. need to be commended for their compassion and dedication to their profession. Thank you for caring

If you want to kill yourself , get admitted to this hospital . There is no sense of hygiene or cleanliness in this hospital . It’s been two weeks my mom is admitted in Cardiology departments on fifth floor and in two weeks her sheets not been changed even once . The shower in the departments is not working and due to outbreak in this department they don’t take patients to other departments to take shower . No wonder there is outbreak . It’s been at least two weeks the patients on this department have not taken shower and nurses told me it’s been a while . Where is health Canada ? How ridiculous is that the shower in a department with outbreak 😷 is not working for at least a month from what I heard . All they do is to put a show up there pretending they care so much by constantly asking to change the yellow gowns . Are you kidding me ? Who are you fooling ?!! Yourselves? Shame on the management. You are responsible for so many unnecessary death happening in this hospital .

I gave birth at this hospital 2 years ago. I had a great overall experience. I was not expecting much because I had heard bad reviews of the hospital but I didn't go through any issues. The only problem I had was with my delivery nurse. She was unnecessarily rude and lacked empathy. She shamed me for not being vaccinated when I was going through labour pains. Also completed downplayed my pain. But the postpartum nurses were AMAZING. They were really caring and nice. Had no issues with the on call OB. Good experience. I have also had several experiences with the children's ER at this hospital and the wait times for that were shorter and the care was good too.

I spent 13 hours in Emergency with my dad yesterday. The things I was able to witness as a visitor all those hours is heartbreaking. The state of our medical system is in ruins yet these heroes soldier on every day. I want to say thank you to EVERYONE for all your hard work. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, at least not by some. I would like to single out a few people who were there for most of our visit; firstly his primary care nurse, Melissa. Your kindness and compassion are a truly amazing. This hospital is lucky to have you. Thank you for everything you did in effort to make my father as comfortable as possible and keep me informed on his care. Secondly, Jeff, the patient ambassador. Your kind works and comforting nature brought calm to what was a truly horrible day. And lastly I'm terribly sorry I didn't get this lady's name as I was not in the best mental state at the time, the janitorial lady who worked the overnight shift on the morning of December 2nd. I hope whoever reads this at the hospital will make an effort to find out this lady's name and recognize her. She was so sweet and friendly, she offered some very kind words and made me smile and feel comforted when I was very scared. Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart for all your efforts. You are all heroes.

The emergency is awful. Drive to another hospital and don't waste your time . Your health doesn't matter to them. A lady called Tracy at emergency who was in charge is a bully. She is aggressive to patients and even other staff. Just ask her how long it's going to take to see a doctor and she will tell you to leave the emergency. She is very rude and has no responsibility or understanding of people's health or emotions. She just yells and yells. in front of people. She can't control her own temper. I wonder how she is given that position to control and manage the department.

When you are admitted at the emergency room in this hospital, you feel like you have been arrested for the first degree murder. The staffs and securities threat you like criminals. From bullying, to accusations to humiliations, etc. Someone somewhere must stop these things from happening. The patients in emergency room have arrived to the hospital as their last hope to get better, this type of behavior at this hospital is unbelievable, unacceptable and if reveals as videos to the world, it will shake the world once people around the world understand and see what's going on behind the closed doors in this hospital. Those responsible for this mess must be removed from this hospital and challenged in the legal system for their actions.

My mother suffered a stroke Sunday. We weren't allowed to go with her or see her because of COVID of course. Every time I phoned the nurses and doctors were nothing but kind and compassionate. They listened carefully to my concern for mum's anxiety and assured me they would manage it. When it was evident mum wouldn't recover, they called us in as soon as they thought she was somewhat aware. They allowed us the time we needed. They listened carefully to our last wishes, carrying out mum's non-intervention directions. Jessica, .Shannon and Adriana in CCICU were just what nurses need to be, for both the patients and family. Thank you

They did their job but wasn't very nice about it. I had Appendicitis and was brought here at 2 in the morning, I was underage when it happened and I was very tired and discombobulated. The nurse attending to me wasn't very nice, but the front desk person was reasonable. I sat in a waiting room for a bit which was about half full. Once I was escorted to my own place the attending nurse like stated before was just rude, not very accommodating and probably under the assumption that my spontaneous stomach pain was a bluff. I was offered an Intravenous painkiller but initially declined. I was directed to get an initial scan but couldn't drink much of the liquid I needed beforehand. In the initial scanning room the nurse/helper seemed uninterested in showing me what to do and where to stand, I ended up throwing up out of pain in the scan room and the nurse/helper seemed very annoyed. Granted, I did miss the garbage so that is quite understandable. Later I was directed to further scanning until they found my appendicitis. I was put into emergency surgery which was delayed because of the anesthesiologist which did listen to my accompanying parent about my unwillingness to wake up after anesthetic. I woke up in the kids wing in my own room. At the end we were charged nothing par the chips and drink my mother bought. Overall an alright place, the staff isn't that nice but I can't blame them because of our current health system. The nurses though could cheer up and not make comments about my situation. This all happened during the peak of covid so I'm glad everything went fine. If you just need a fix up like me I don't see much issue with this Hospital. Though other reviews seem to show a lack of mental care so be advised.

This place has become so inefficient and ineffective, yet it takes unheard of wait times to accomplish the corporation earning money. The CEO really needs to manage his leads so much better. This place has sub-zero communication skills, and when you ask a perfectly reasonable question to some nurses or doctors, the over defense routine kicks in, and you are treated like a violent criminal . This is a truly terrible facility, steer clear. I'd drive myself up to Barrie with a broken neck before I'd get admitted there. Also, the washrooms are filthy. Let's get the CEO down there cleaning. Doesn't seem like they do much else Sorry, it's what I have experienced I'm an over 50 male, work FT, in case anyone cares.

When my fiance goes in, in severe pain in his belly, probably from his appendix and then he gets told, that he has to stay until 8:00 a.m., to sit there and wait for an ultrasound, after he's been there since 2:00 in the afternoon!!!! Then not give him dinner or water, to do a urine test, when you finally give him a glass of water at 8:00 p.m. of course he's going to rip his IV out and leave. Trudeau and Ford you have ruined our hospitals!

This is a pretty bad hospital for adults that get admitted. Emergency care is good, pediatric care is good, NICU care is good, but when you get admitted as an adult the care is terrible. I think this is due to the majority of nurses being lower quality that other hospitals. If you get a nurse that cares about their job (taking care of you) you'll have a good start, but unfortunately the majority don't care and won't take your concerns seriously, won't respond when you call for them. It's pretty sad really.

Horrible emergency department!!! My 70 year old mother had a stroke and seizure a month ago, she received treatment at Cortellucci Vaughan hospital. She had been at home for 10 days and was not doing well. When I called 911 I explained this to them, and that we needed to go see her medical team at Cortellucci. They refused, and took her to Southlake because it was 5 minutes closer. Arrived in the emergency room at Southlake, it was overcrowded, dirty, smelly and we had to wait for 7 hours to see a physician. I explained to the physician that there was a discrepancy in her meds-specifically the seizure meds and we suspect that it’s an OD due to the mistake on the prescriptions and/or another stroke/seizure. His reply was that they didn’t have a neurological team at Southlake and he can’t do anything about it. THAT’s WHY I ASKED THEM TO TAKE HER TO CORTELLUCCI!!! I called Cortellucci to ask them about this and they told me that I had to take her to the hospital- that’s how we ended up at Southlake. The emergency physician at Southlake didn’t even call Cortellucci to verify the meds and what they see on their end. It was basically like “that’s not my job” type of response. And “we are not admitting her or transferring her to Cortellucci”. He simply said she has a UTI and that’s why she’s in a zombie-like state. To my knowledge, UTI’s do not cause patients to sleep for 22 hours per day and be unable to speak or feed themselves. We went home, she took the antibiotics for the UTI, and a day and. A half later called 911 again because her symptoms were getting WORSE. I explained this to the dispatch that we NEED to go to Cortellucci. They took her there and it turns out that they did, in fact, overdose her on the seizure meds and her prescription needed to be adjusted. They gave her prescriptions for 2 different types of meds at maximum strength, but on their end on her chart they only saw a prescription for one type of med. She also had covid, which they didn’t even test her for at Southlake. She was admitted when she went to Cortellucci. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND TAX PAYER DOLLARS!!! Their negligence probably cost the healthcare system (WE THE TAXPAYERS) upwards of $5k. It could have been a simple phone call from the emergency physician to verify the discrepancy in the meds with Cortellucci, and a standard covid test. LISTEN TO THE PATIENT’S FAMILY WHEN THEY ARE TELLING YOU SOMETHING ISNT RIGHT! Then it cost us $200 to take her home in a transport ambulance because she was unable to stand and we could not get her in the car. What a terrible, frustrating experience. DO BETTER!!!!

The ER waiting time is too long but the nurses are amazing! The hospital is clean and nice. It is always busy. The parking is expensive, $5 for half an hour and a full day for $17.5. I would recommend using the 615 Davis drive parking lot which is $5 for 4 hours. The reason for 3 stars is because a friend was on the 5th floor (in a recovery room) and the overnight nurse was extremely useless that actually led to complications in his recovery process. I know that shouldn't be taken as a scale, but I hope this comment would reach out to some level where it will prevent future incidents like that. We didn't press any charges because we didn't want to affect the nurse job, we felt bad for her (she got bills to pay for). *I would highly recommend you stay with your patient as much as possible to help them recover.* I know we have a busy life but the system is not very supportive, unfortunately.

I was working on the 3rd floor. The MACU unit. At 12 midnight is the nurses sleeping time. I observed several nurses strolling stretchers down the halls with pillows and blankets going into places to sleep. At that time in the morning. There's hardly anyone on the floor. Then they complain about over worked. Who gets paid to sleep at work at the rate of pay they're receiving. Something needs to be done about these years of abuse of tax payers money by these nurses. It's not only this hospital. It happens at all the hospitals I've worked.

If you want adequate staff who care about their patients go to SUNNYBROOK never Southlake. If I could put zero stars I would…. This hospital has horrendous bedside manner in the birthing unit. Made my friend cry everyday because of how they spoke to her and treated her. Assuming she’s doing something she shouldn’t with no evidence of such and instead putting blame on her then themselves which is shameful. They have no sympathy and yet still choose to talk over the patient and not actually care about what they say or think. She’s pregnant… yet it’s apparently ok to talk down to her like she’s nothing… The 1 star is for that handful or nurses who actually made her smile, where many others on the floor made me feel like I wasn’t there and my voice was not important. Felt like even I was invisible and I’m not even the patient… I’m the visitor and this is unacceptable. It’s basic human decency to show compassion for someone in need. Thats their job and they fail at it time and time again. I think those individuals should lose their job as I don’t think they should ever make ANYONE ELSE feel that way again. Yes I’m angry… this shouldn’t be tolerated

A couple of days ago l had the misfortune of having a bad fall. 60 yr old in poor health. Waited for a long time in the front door office . 10 people ahead of me on the ticket system they have there. It was very busy . I couldn't sit and had trouble standing . When l saw the first nurse at the window l told her l was in alot of pain and had trouble breathing. Seemed it didn't matter follow the purple foot prints to what they call fast track. It was chaos. Took all l had to get there. A lady with crutchs offered to help me as even she could see l was in distress. People who came in after were being seen first . I asked a nurse if they had made a mistake. ...she said no ....timestamp but l beg to differ. My arm and wrist had open wounds which was noted on my file but seems it wasn't noticed. Seemed like more of a get together at the nurses station. Dr was super busy but to send me for x-rays was all he could do for me.The only sign l saw for fastrack was a nurse husband and daughter who didn't seem to have to put her file on the desk and grab a seat. She said hi to the nurses as she paraded past us all in search of her friend the Dr. The nurse at the desk could see as l was standing there watching that l was upset at what l had just seen. I muttered under my mask and she heard me. Then l get the xray fracture rib . Here are some pain good look with it haveca nice day . You think what they charge ohip for a visit would also include cleaning and dressing my wounds. Walked out in disbelief. Good luck that's all l say say

I almost fainted when I was told not to do it because one of the staff was distracted. With my mom's visit to the hospital I just wanted to ask how it went, and I'm waiting for 6 hours. The employee appeared to be deliberately hiding her name and disguising herself almost invisible. To be unkind. It was a name that started with a ´Sh-' and the she warned me that it would be better to be quiet as a visitor. Is this blissfulness of a resident employee a natural right or power?

I am so glad to say this emergency care is so good. I took my mom in emergency with pain later on we come to know about stone. We entered at 11 and everything done evening 9 which is still good they did required test and we got conclusion before we left. I was not sure how emergency will work and stone pain was on worst level mainly impressive part is back end staff . I did my out standing payment through call. Received summery in email to claim insurance. They provide all required documents for insurance. I gave 4 star as they didn’t accept insurance claims they want us to pay and then claim insurance by over-self. My mom is visitor in canada so she is supposed to be on insurance but still we are happy with there treatment and back end staff is amazing salute to all staff working hard

This would have been a 5-star review but for a delay in getting a diagnosis while I was in emergency for two days in terrible pain. That said, once I was diagnosed and moved into a room everything progressed really well. The nurses were kind, professional, efficient and personable - despite the fact that they are terribly overworked, underpaid and the hospital is understaffed (thank you Doug Ford). But the understaffed part is not the fault of the people there - who I felt went above and beyond in their care. The food was good but not great - though I have certainly had worse during a hospital stay. That said, my diet was carefully monitored during my recovery and I felt well fed and healthy. I was there for ten weeks, saw numerous doctors and specialists and was given all of the requisite tests in a timely manner - so it seemed to me at least. I am doing further recovery now that I am no longer in hospital and will be back for more tests in a few months. Overall - I was impressed - the hospital is clean and well run and though I don't like being in the hospital for two-and-a-half months; it could have been much worse. 4.5/5 stars for me.

On September 5th, 2023 I gave birth to my beautiful daughter at this hospital. After hearing so many negative things about this hospital I can not begin to explain the amazing experience I had. From the moment I was admitted to the nurses in post natal. I had one nurse who went above and beyond it felt like to make me comfortable her name was Adriana. She was beyond lovely and her beside manner was fantastic. Dr. Sasha was also fantastic. Overall just a great birth experience!

My whole family was born at the Newmarket (Southlake) hospital back when it was just a few levels in a predominantly red brick building. We all had our tonsillectomy and appendectomy surgeries, broken bones repaired, stitches, babies born ...visited sick grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends. Both of my brothers, my mom, my step dad and my step sister have been there in the last year receiving urgent care which has caused me to realize how much we need this hospital and how necessary it is for people to support the doctors, the nurses, the staff and volunteers. And volunteer yourself, even if just for a few hours a week. Just thinking of the needs of my family alone, causes me to consider how many other families/members are receiving care constantly throughout the year. It just really hit me like huge revelation recently with my oldest brother now in urgent care with esophageal cancer surgery. Mind boggling really how I didn't realize previously, the tremendous presence and importance this hospital has been in our lives. Our whole lives have been in unison with this hospital and I just realized it. I owe such a dept of gratitude for all the staff and volunteers at Southlake. It truly is a place I am eternally grateful for. I give 5 stars for the constant efforts made in a very demanding and difficult job, all while facing serious inefficiencies, lack of funding and resources. Thank you for all that you do for all of us. 🙏 Genuinely, E Harden

I had a scope today, and I have to say considering what it is, the experience was quite pleasant. Sure there was some wait to get in to the OR, but overall it deserves the 5 stars. The Nurses are absolute professionals with wicked sense of humour., and a big thank you to Dr Toth. Your ease and professionalism really made it go seamlessly..Well done Team. I appreciate it, very much.

My Mom was admitted due to 2 falls at her home The staff was compassionate and caring. They tried everything they could to make her comfortable while she waited for a bed. Don't blame the staff but the funding for health care

The worst ER ever!!! We took our son there during the weekend due to high fever and they checked everything and said it is nothing serious. They even told us we don't need to give him Tylenol although he had a 40 degree fever. After 2 days when we saw no improvements we took him to family doctor and they instantly diagnosed ear infection!! Southlake people check his ears and said nothing is wrong!! How is this even possible?!

I took my son to the emergency room as he fell down and his leg was broken, the service including x-ray, the nurses who did the cast, they were awful! My son was in so much pain throughout the procedure and we found out that the cast was not done properly so he suffered a lot and we had to change the cast in another hospital next day, this place is just awful and if I had time, I would officially complain about every single person who were involved that day with my son's health. Poor 4 years old went through so much pain due to some non professional.

On Dec 6th 2023 I delivered my baby girl at this hospital. The nurses and doctors at the birthing unit were TRULY VERY amazing. They were all kind, sweet, understanding and made me feel really calm during the whole process. Rn Adrianna, Rn Rachel Brooks, Rn N. Haltert, Rn Brittany, Rn Lindsey, Rn K. Wilkinson, and Dr. P. Watt. I had a very good experience here because of these wonderful people that work here. You can see that they genuinely love their job. The private room was really nice, clean and great size to have family /visitors. Definitely recommend this hospital if you are delivering a baby.

I would like to thank all the nurses and doctors who helped me the last 2 days while dealing with appendicitis. I have severe anxiety and so anything that involves surgery and pain gives me anxiety attacks. Everyone was super sweet and reassuring. Even the emergency nurses were super amazing even thought it was overly packed. The surgeon and the nurses that were assisting were also very calming and assuring. Which made me feel a lot better.

I had minor surgery at Southlake last week, and every staff member I encountered (from registration, pre-op, OR, post-op and patient transport) was friendly, professional and made an effort to ensure I felt comfortable. At this time of year and with the challenging issues hospitals are facing right now, I was so appreciative of the care I received. It isn't easy working in health care these days, but the staff at Southlake didn't make it seem that way. A particular note of thanks, as well, to the anaesthesiologist (I wish I got her name) who listened carefully to my concerns and 'worked her magic' to make sure I didn't have a bad reaction. In fact, I woke up feeling like I'd had the best sleep! Thank you to all!

I just had a day surgery (Lumpectomy) and they treated me with so much care and respect! All nurses and doctors were very welcoming and supportive. They were punctual and very organized by all the steps before the surgery. During the recovery process they pampered me very well and everything was phenomenal. Thank you for a great experience Dr. Eda Deliallisi and your team as well as South lake hospital!

My mom went in an ambulance to the emergency room and she was treated with the upmost respect and kindness. Nurse Tania was amazing to each and every person (patient, visitor and staff alike) with the kindness we all wish to receive from everyone we meet. We need more people like Tania in our lives!!

Care workers were generally good and in the case of my night nurse Claudette excellent. The charge nurse was the worst as she was prepared to send me home 2 days in a row without seeking meds (I was on morphine right up to being released). Not being familiar with hospital room washrooms I was shocked at the hardened yellow and blood pink staining around the back 4 inch perimeter of the washroom floor. Needs a major steam cleaning as no mopping would go much other than spread germs. I need to go back for surgery but not looking forward to using the washroom!

My wife and I would like to to thank the staff at Southlake Regional Health Center for their kindness and caring during my wife Anne's recent surgery. We would like to especially thank Chris (Christine) and Kim in Surgical Admissions (2nd Floor) for their kind support and reassurance as well as Marg, who is an exceptional nurse in the recovery ward, for her thoroughness, kindness and emotional support. All your effort is greatly appreciated.

I had day surgery on December 29, 2021, and the entire nursing staff (pre-op, operating, and post-op) were absolutely amazing. I know reviews have little or no impact on "buying decisions" when it comes to healthcare in Ontario, but I needed to recognise the exceptional professionalism and empathy in the surgical nursing staff on duty on this day.

This is my second baby with the birthing unit here at Southlake. The only reason I'm giving them a 4* is the delay in care and lack of caring of a new patient coming in. I spent almost 3 hours as the only one in the stress test area, had my water break and still had next to no nurses in helping me/communicating. Once I did reach a great nurse, they did my covid test and finally admitted me. Still took almost 2 hours to have the covid test come back so my partner could enter properly. After that point, my care here was beyond incredible. I need an emergency c section and multiple tests, and they were beyond incredible to be informative about the medicine they were using and procedures about to happen. They took extra care of me due to the situation, communicated as much as they could about my condition. After birth and when things finally settled down, they continued to take extreme care of me until I was back to normal. I am beyond thankful, and highly recommend this birthing unit to other individuals. I do not have any other reviews for any other unit, as I have not previously like this emergency department at all, and when leaving was super surprised at the line up of people to enter.

I experienced friendly, professional doctors, nurses and staff before surgery, after surgery and while recovering. The Cardiac services were excellent and Dr LeRoux and her team huddled around my gurney and introduced themselves before taking me into the operating room. That was a really nice practice to know the team that would save my life. Thank you

We have been to Southlake many times over the past few years for a variety of reasons, and have always received excellent care. I went to the Southlake ER yesterday and it was pretty obvious that the ER was busier than a usually busy Monday. However, all of the staff that helped me showed concern, were friendly and helpful, and demonstrated positive attitudes. That visit only reinforced our opinion that the staff at Southlake are exceptional and deserve any kudos that come their way.

How do I give the Birthing Unit more stars? The team there is absolutely incredible! Big shout out to the nurses; Irene, Jennifer, Michelle and Miryam. You all were incredibly attentive, empathetic and insightful. I’m so thankful for the experience you provided my wife during her first ever delivery - we could not have asked for a better group of people to support her every step of the way. These nurses don’t just show up and do their job, they go WAY above and beyond. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone, you won’t be disappointed. You’ll be in great hands the whole way through. There aren’t enough words to express my gratitude to you all…absolute heroes!!!
