Lost my job called to cancel they refuse to handle business over the phone likely to avoid being recorded. Missed 1 payment of 25 dollars was nsfed everyday for 2 weeks. Went in to cancel said that they can't print the form. I have no trouble paying my bill but holding me hostage to continue services I'm not bound to? Even the bank suggested this can't be legal so they charged the nsfs back and closed my bank account. Called head office 25 times left messages with accounts payable with no response. Went back to the location for information. Was told forms cannot be printed to accounts with a balance. My contract cannot be provided. The terms I am supposedly under to continue service outside my 1 year cannot be provided. Also the consumer right of being able to freeze this service I apparently signed away before it existed cannot be provided. So basically they will hold you on unknown terms using methods that require you to receive information only in ways that restrict them being accountable or liable. They will not put anything in writing they will not speak to you in public. Leaving you only the option of paying at their location or being sent to collections and not being able to prove you've made any communication. Dirty dirty business. Never seen such a mess of legal loopholes to take money they provide nothing in return for. Horrible customer service I'd never suggest getting mixed up with this company there's other places to workout that are nice who don't use mob style business ethics.

    Horrible customer service for new members, we (my wife and I) wanted to take a tour in the Burlington location, we mentioned to the person in we didn't have much time and we just wanted to look at the pool (the only thing we care about), He took all our information and then he handed us a long questionary... We said we didn't want to waste our time putting all this data when we just wanted to see a small part of the facility, he reply that we had to do a 45 minute tour either way.. we ask if he could show us the pool only, he said no and replay "fill the questionary and do the 45 minutes tour". We left the GYM after 10 minutes of discussion and we didn't see any facilities. A day later a woman call us from Movati, to ask us about our experience, we told them we did not see the GYM because time constraints and lack of consideration. She did not acknowledge that we were irritated by the experience, and keep selling us the Movati like an old car salesmen. I told her that we were not happy with the first and second impression and we were not longer interested in Movati, but she keep challenging me with why I took that decision and kept asking questions that were personal and I was in no mood to answer. I doubt they have a customer service manager that has properly trained their staff.

    This is in regards to the Waterloo club, head office needs to be aware of how badly managed the club is. ----- Came in with my wife to check out the club during the open house, disgusting environment, non-existent management. The front desk greeter seemed annoyed he had to put down his phone to answer our questions about using the club. As soon as I entered the locker room was greeted by the sound of people clearing their throats and spitting and blowing nose onto the floor, wet underwear left on benches, two old guys talking about children (I hope grandchildren) fully naked doing the Captain Morgan pose. Headed upstairs and it seemed nice enough at first glance but quickly noticed how most equipment had weight plates left on them, many you could see the previous persons sweat so I’d advise cleaning the equipment BEFORE you touch anything, one guy thought it was okay to take up 2 benches (one for him one for his gym bag) as he threw the weighs down after every set with loud grunting. As I grabbed my stuff from the locker to leave it seemed like one person was taking pictures of himself while other men where trying to get changed. My wife had wanted to swim but said she was sickened by the smell of chlorine coming off the pool and it was obvious that people weren’t showering before using the pool which would explain why they use so much chlorine. One last thing, the Google photos of this club shows a far larger/nicer club with an outdoor basketball court, these pictures were supposedly submitted by owner (so manager?), there is no outdoor basketball court, we checked. Really shady to be using another locations pictures. Please let me know when the club is placed under new management and given a through cleaning and I’ll consider trying it again and updating this review, until then avoid Movati Waterloo.

    Be careful when purchasing the membership. It is hard to cancel. Even in the time of Covid-19, they kept charging. When I expressed my willingness to come back when it is safe, they did not stop charging.

    I am extremely disappointed regarding recent changes at the MOVATI gym, specifically related to the removal of child care services and the overall experience I have encountered as a member. Firstly, the decision to discontinue child care services, citing low utilization, has left me perplexed. I experienced considerable difficulty in securing a spot for my child, even after calling three days in advance. This issue suggests that there was indeed a demand for child care, and it contradicts the claim that the gym wasn't busy enough to support this service. Moreover, the limited hours of operation for child care facilities seemed incompatible with the schedules of working individuals, including those with a 9-5 job like myself. This raises questions about the accessibility of the service to a broader membership base. I took the initiative to reach out to the gym to express my concerns and frustrations, but regrettably, I did not receive any response or acknowledgment of my feedback. This lack of communication only added to my dissatisfaction with the overall experience. Furthermore, I am seriously contemplating canceling my membership. I initially joined MOVATI with the expectation of child care services, which were part of the package I signed up for. The removal of this service has altered the value proposition of my membership significantly. Additionally, I have noticed overcrowding issues at the south location, which raises concerns about overselling memberships and the availability of equipment, particularly the need for more than one Smith machine. I understand that managing a fitness facility can be challenging, but as a loyal member of MOVATI, I believe that these concerns deserve serious consideration. I hope we can address these issues to improve the gym's services and maintain a positive and mutually beneficial relationship between the members and MOVATI.

    Some of the front desk staff at the Richmond hill location including the “manager” at reception are there to socialize over providing services to members. Pay a fee for two towels and get one because they are short on towels and “there are lots of members that have two towel contracts” ! Ridiculous excuse!! There’s never anyone at the bar to help you and literally every time I want a shake I have to go there and call someone over to come serve me. Also the sauna stinks so maybe head office needs to be doing a better job at training their staff and the management team as there seems to be no customer care or service at this establishment. Came back to MOVATI after canceling my membership for the rude staff last time to get 15 emails to come back and be so disappointed after only two weeks. If I could give a 0 rating I would.

    Movatis #1 priority is how they can make as much money as possible regardless of what false information they provide (Ie False Advertising of promos). Definitely the best gym for not care about its members or customer service.

    I received a survey from MOVATI app regarding my satisfaction on my last visit. I placed a one star rating because classes like kettlebell and power barbell are packed with 38-40 per class. People using heavy weights during class barely have two step distance. A group fitness manager from the Mississauga location reached out to me to inquire regarding the issue and when I described it, she replied: capacity is set by head office based on square footage, and asked to reach out to the head office. I will be calling the head office today but also would like to leave a review as I have raised this safety concern in the club itself and it fell on deaf ears. I don’t mind being crammed among other 40 people in a dance or a bar class, but it it a problem when there are heavy weights involved.

    Been a member of Movati Athletic for 15 years in London Ontario. The staff and community there were unparalleled. Unfortunately, Movati decided to close their doors, giving everyone 30 hours notice including staff that they were shutting down both London locations, all while collecting new memberships the day prior. Incredibly unprofessional. They don't care about communities, or you as an individual. They just want your money and will drop you when they get it. It's OK, you'll get a completely cold/ impersonal email when it's all said and done.

    Update: Movati has come through and recognized the loyalty I've had. I'm able to keep my current membership at a new location. Back to being a happy member. ------ Long term, loyal member. Membership based out of London, but just moved to Kanata. My membership allows me to go anywhere, but it's being canceled with the London closures. No loyalty discount available to joining the Kanata location, despite being a member since 2008. I'll take my business elsewhere, even if the membership will cost more elsewhere, simply on principle. Do better, Movati.

    Extremely unhappy with their service....... Be very careful with their contracts. I cancelled my membership a few years. No contacts from Movati during these years. Now I realized they have been charging me as the cancellation was not done in person.

    I became a Movati member for 2 years. And I was ripped off by movati trainyard for half of my paid personal training sessions. I tried to negotiate with their manager Addi and I am extremely unsatisfied with her handling of my situation. Objectively, the trainer has obligation and responsibility to notify and remind the customer there has an important rule that has to be rescheduled or cancelled with 24 hours, otherwise still be get charged. I purchased the sessions because I want to have a professional coach to lead or motivate me to be a better shape. In that case, I am willing to spend my money and hope I can improve my health. If I knew he will cancel and charge my sessions base on that rule, I won’t constantly do that. On my perspective, there was deceptive and ambiguity. Plus, the trainer knew my nature of jobs makes my working hours was not stable. I need to reschedule very often.That’s a total fraudulent and scam conduct. I do not want to waste my time on this issue since had been stalled for half a year and I came to find Addi in person over 3 times. If this issue could not be properly resolve or fulfill my satisfaction, I would cancel my membership and share my awful experience on social media as a warning to others. I just want your team to verify my past cancelled and charged sessions reimburse to me.I am looking forward to your team’s reply and an appropriate resolution regarding to my problem. Otherwise, I will contact a consumer protection agency (or OCA) or get other help. Resolution very unsatisfactory. Strongly advise against joining Movati.

    I started Movati membership at Movati Athletic Waterloo (405 The Boardwalk) on March 15/2016. In April 2020, I called Movati to cancel my membership and I was told that I need to go to the store to make it. Then I drove to Movati Athletic Waterloo, I explained my situation and finally canceled my membership. I also returned my membership card on that date. I was told that Movati would not charge me anymore. However, when I went to the bank to renew my bank card. I found that I was charged from Movati all these years. After checking with their supervisor, they told me that they found out they accidentally set up a duplicated account for me without notifying me. The 2 accounts share the same phone number, same name, same driver’s license number and same bank card information. And they only cancelled one of those accounts for me, the other one still exists. Also, both membership cards automatically renews without any email or phone call notification. When i went to the store to cancel membership under my name and my phone number, they did not notify me there’s another one I need to cancel. I was only told that I’m good to go. They only refunded me the amount from 2014 to 2016 for the duplicated membership fee, but they refused to refund me the fee after cancellation for 2020-2023. Resolution very unsatisfactory. Strongly advise against joining Movati.

    I love Movati in Ottawa, the best location is the one in Kanata. The GM is always visible and working with his team. You can see him checking every detail in the facility. It is the best kept and cleanest in all of Ottawa. I love to see this guy working at the front desk with his team and taking care of clients. In the other hand, Movati at the Trainyards is a real disappointment all the time I go. There is always something broken (Not hot water, hot tub broken, pool not clean, pool clock not working, messy, etc.) I have noticed all these details in the last 5 years going to that location. Another thing I don't get is why this Movati shuts down the coed pool for cleaning, for a whole hour. The other locations in town do it for just 30 minutes, and the cleaning is way superior to the Trainyards, always! After being at this location one more time today, I just know I will never comeback to this particular facility. You really need to do something about it.

    I am a member of the Windermere location in Edmonton. I have been a member since the location opened. Recently Movati Corporate has made the decision to close the playroom leaving parents with no childcare options. This greatly impacts families who have been utilizing this service as the playroom in the Windermere location has been very successful. This is an incredibly disappointing decision and leaves many of us needing to find another gym that offers childcare. I have found the playroom staff at Windermere Movati to be excellent and feel comfortable leaving my infant with them. This decision is also putting very dedicated staff out of a job, at no fault of their own. I understand closures if a facility is not using the childcare and locations are losing profit, but this is simply not the case for the Windermere location. Please consider a reversal of this decision.

    I’ve been a member since 2019 and spoke highly of this gym. But in the recent months I’ve noticed especially in the men’s change rooms one particular individual who does not take hygiene serious. This individual likes to think you can walk in the sauna or steam room fully clothed wearing a hoodie, track suit, socks and RUNNING “SHOES” what planet are we living in! This matter needs to be addressed before things get out of hand. A sauna or steam room should only be used with proper hygienic and respect for other members! Maybe movati should post signs on the door inviting people to wear construction boots in the steam or sauna! What’s the difference! Keep it up movati!

    In regards to the MOVATI Center in Barrhaven Ottawa. Almost everyone in the gym is complaining about the poor state of the equipments and the unavailability of many equipments for months at a time. Some equipments pose health and safety issues and can result in Bodley injury . When asked why many equipments are down, The answer is always, waiting for parts to come from China. I have noticed that the personal training room always in good shape and functional 100% of the time, yet we are not permitted to use it even when many equipments are broken. Many of the benches, seats are ripped and in need for replacement . When we asked how long before the equipment get fixed the manage answer was about two months. This is not acceptable what so ever and head office need to address this pressing and reoccurring matter.
