I learned of the spot when the chef (Young Animal) was featured on an episode of Late Night Eats. My girlfriend and I were looking for a spot to hold a joint birthday dinner with friends and both being of Trinidadian heritage, we were excited by the menu! The spot is quaint with a cool, laid back hip/R&B vibe. The staff and chef were incredibly personable and welcoming (shout out to Miguel!) and the dishes I sampled/ate were appetizing. I ordered the Goat Wellington (curried goat wrapped in a puff pastry) with a side of phulorie (fried dough made from chickpea flour). The Goat Wellington was divine- think flaky pasty meets tender curry goat! The phulorie were nice and light but they were a bit cold, my guess is because of the mango-chutney they were served on. Having the chutney on the side may have been a better alternative. My only other "complaint" was the time it took to get our food after our order had been placed but will definitely go back to sample other menu items!

This place is such a diamond in a boring stretch. Steeped in culture, good music, great beer, and UNIQUE delicious food. It's a crime that it was empty on a Sunday afternoon. (But it just may have been close to closing) :) Support this place! It has an NBA JAM MACHINE! I had the fried egg and sausage gravy poutine--DELICIOUS. I can't rave about the decor enough. ESP The corner dedicated to the late MF Doom 💚🍺

I was biking by when I heard the live music playing so I had to stop by to check it out yesterday. Not sure if this happens every Wednesday evening? But such a dope spot🔥 JC3 Jazz band we’re playing & they killed it on stage💫 make sure to bring cash so you can support your local artists🎵 Calm killed it on the mic 🎤 Love the mix of live Jazz, R&B and Hip hop such a nice combo🎶

Having both purchased beer from Laylow and lived right above it, I can say that not only is their product overpriced, but that they have no respect for the community around them. Countless nights, the music coming from the bar would be so loud that our floors would shake. We tried to ask them on multiple occasions to turn it down, only to be met with hostility. This escalated to a situation where, on a weeknight, my roommate went down to once again ask them to turn the music down, only to be screamed at and humiliated by one of the owners in front of everyone in the bar. They also tried to argue that turning down the music would ruin the experience of being in the bar - but often there were only one or two of their friends hanging around, yet the music would be blasting. I'm not sure anything can justify the decibels that they would play their music at. We ended up having to move. I just want the owners to know that if you want to be a business owner, make sure you aren't eroding the quality of life of the people in your neighbourhood. They could leave the bar and go back to heir quiet homes, we did not have that option.

Beer was tasty but not $9.5 for a glass (not pint) of draft beer tasty! Which they are probably ashamed to admit to cause it was not listed on their menu/chalkboard. Their in person customer service is so passive aggressive and pretentious. If you check out their reviews you will see them invalidate customer complainants and find reasons why they are justified to do xxx. Underwhelming, overpriced, and disappointing. To the owner who responded. It's sad that you often have the need to defend/demean anyone who doesn't give you a 5 star review. And seeing that I go out at least twice week and I have only 7 bad reviews OVER A 5 YEAR PERIOD is hardly "often". And lets face it, one off negative reviews have way more creditability that people paying for great fake reviews. Id rather people be warned when the lowest bar of expectations cant even be reached. Stop blaming covid.

Really great selection of brews. Great atmosphere with unique decorative touches. Sort of an urban/tribal mix. DJs rotate between hip hop and low key house music. The bartenders are sociable, I found it pretty easy to strike up a conversation when I was there. Aside from the brews the bartenders also make good drinks!

Last night Fresh Produce was such a vibe! Laylow is hands down the number one spot in the city for real hip hop. Salute Dan for providing a space for the people to congregate and always being such a gracious host. Looking forward to the rest of Dilla Week!

This place is hands down the best brewery in the world. The staff have nice personalities and they’re easy on the eyes. The beer is best in class, and pairs well with some of the most delicious burgers you’ll ever have.

This Trinidadian gem on College impressed me from start to finish. The beers are flavourful and leave you wanting to try more. The food (I tried the colonel and doubles with homemade hot sauce) was unique in taste and texture. Whiskey shots on the house and attentive waiters are good demonstrators of the service. I personally liked the hip hop music and dim ambience.

been coming here since 2016 - the atmosphere is unparalleled in the city. house brews are delicious, guest chefs are always cooking up fire, and the music is impeccably curated. I've met some real cool cats here on random weekday nights, hard not to make friends here among genuine souls. Laylow forever ❤️

I attended an event hosted by Sweet Touch Foundation and DJ StartingFromScratch. Vibe was amazing. Party was off the hook! Staff and patrons were very friendly. Highly recommend this venue and will definitely make my way back to try the food and check out the comedy night. Overall, this place is a 10 out of 10.

Been here over 20 times mainly because the staff are very authentic people. The beers are just as authentic and the vibe is always good. They care about arts and culture and bring in DJ's and other art communities in the city. Will be back at least another 20

This spot is special & not just for the amazing beers or the delicious food they make but the vibe. That's what it's all about here! The monthly Fresh Produce event is a prime example of the community building that goes on in this magical little establishment. Huge shout out to Dan, the man who pours blood, sweat & tears into this place!

👍 Good food as always! Convenient. Kids friendly. One star less because in the men’s washrooms there is no arrangement for baby diapers change. I managed it somehow but for a single dad with baby it is not convenient. I hope management would put up something to resolve it. Thank you.
