Takeout or eat-in, this place is fantastic either way. Their brunch boxes are already great, my favourite being the mushroom one. Although if you decide to eat-in definitely try the lobster brunch with truffle fries. They have a modern aesthetic and also a great location. However, their service could be better and their staff can be a little more friendly. Also, this being Toronto the price is stupidly crazy. Expect to shell out $60 for 2 people. Overall a cute place to hang and a must try for a late brunch

Popular brunch/lunch cafe that serves up unique brunch plates and a wide variety of drinks. Walked in for lunch, cafe was full of patrons. You write your name and phone number on the paper waitlist. We ordered the Pulled Pork Brunch plate with tofu fries. It tasted good and easily shareable dish. Sukiyaki beef pasta was amazing. The Rose Iron tea and Creme Brulee coffee also tasted hot and great. Cafe was clean, decor was contemporary. Background music was a bit loud. Servers were good. However, service was slow as they prioritized delivery/takeout orders over dine in. Also, your clothes may smell like kitchen grease as they have an open kitchen.

Loved this place😍. We came here with a group of 4 people to have a little brunch and some drinks on the side and we were so glad we choose this location while we were passing by. The service was amazing. They were very quick, and the cafe was very clean even though it was really busy. The food was really good and I personally think the prices were reasonable, not expensive. We ordered the 2 Mini Pancakes in the middle and drinks on the side which was enough for all of us. Definitely coming back here!

Light Cafe is located at a normal area in Toronto, from the outside it looks like your average Cafe. A quick step inside though, will reveal a beautiful environment garnished with modern decorations and friendly staff. Since my first visit, it’s been one of my go-to places. There’s no going wrong coming back to this place. I ordered a few things over my past few visits: buttermilk mini pancakes, Oreo mini pancakes, lobster rolls, strawberry cream puff, cream brûlée latte, and a few Italian sodas. This place doesn’t disappoint. From presentation to taste, this cafe is simply wonderful. The food is tasty and flavourful, and everything is done to almost perfection. The price point isn’t expensive either, and it definitely could’ve been. Highly recommend this place for anyone in the area.

FOOD: big portion with a little bit of everything on the plate • Smoke Salmon: salad was good, love the waffle fries so much, the mini pancakes are good too. • Kimchi Sukiyaki Beef: I thought it'd be weird to go with croissant but turns out it's not bad, the kimchi was not too strong flavor so not an issue. DRINKS: A bit of disappointment • Roasted Oolong Latte: taste somehow similar to a coffee latte but very bland. I did not like the foam on top of it. SERVICE: the hosts were very nice and friendly, I felt immediately warm welcomed since I step in there. Waitress was nice too. VIBE: they're busy all the time, long line up but not many tables. The waiting area is very small too.

Sooo Delicious!!! Different than your regular brunch, definitely worth a try. The wait is a little long as many people go there but the food is worth the wait. I've only tasted the brunch menu so I can't speak about other items. I strongly recommend trying their brunch. One of the best ones I've ever had.

Such a cute cafe with friendly staff! Portions are very big and tasty! It can get busy so keep that in mind. One thing I love about this place is that it feels open concept so when you are sitting and eating it does not feel like you’re too close to the table next to you. Highly recommend this place for brunch/lunch with your friends or a cute date! Their drinks are also very delicious and great price for the size you get!

Definitely one of the better brunch places I’ve been to in a while. Food was great, coffee was pretty good too. Waitresses were nice. Ordered the lobster croissant brunch combo which was really yum, presentation was pretty my favourite part was it came with a bit of everything.

Light cafe was probably one of the best breakfast I’ve had in a while. The service wasn’t the fastest but the wait was worth it. The salmon croissant and truffles fries were to die for. Oh and the lattes were so good too! I would highly recommend.

Had brunch here with some friends and I have to say the brunch was amazing! We went on a Sunday around 1230 and for a table of 6, we had to wait for 45 minutes. The servers were great and friendly. I had ordered the Lobster Brunch, it was delicious!!! I saw this place on a review on TikTok and was really looking forward to it. The first time experience definitely made me happy and actually want to come back again to try other dishes. However, my friends didn't want me to tell the server this. But I believe this place needs some cleaning, we all saw there was a spider web with lots of flies on top of the ceiling near our table. Thanks for the good brunch!

Lobster brunch combo was soooo good!! They have the cutest little pancakes too. Coffee smoothie and Oreo smoothie was super tasty n filling as well ( small tip - try drinking them soon so that the ice don’t fall out of glass 😝)

Heard great things about this place and definitely wasn't disappointed! They open at 12pm and we walked in for a table at 12:30pm, but we still had to get onto the waitlist and waited for about 40min. The good thing is that they take your number down and call you when a table is ready. I actually missed their calls twice but I am so grateful that they held the table for us a little bit 😅 My partner and I ordered some sandwiches but I regret not getting a brunch box!!! Not to say that the sandwiches weren't amazing (spoiler: they were), but the brunch box just looked so pretty. I got the Crispy Mapo Tofu Sandwich with waffle fries and both were delicious. Beware the sandwiches are huge as heck! It's hard to find good waffle fries these days but they were so crispy!! 11/10 would definitely come again... and next time I'll get the brunch box!!

Love this place a lot! May run a bit pricey for drinks but it’s all real delicious. Cute brunch spot, though can be pretty busy, so you may have to wait a bit for a seat if it’s a particularly busy day. Despite it’s business, it’s extremely comfy and fairly quiet; really peaceful. It’s near Queen’s Park, and though a bit of a walk from UofT I’d say it’s completely worth it. There’s also a cash discount which is nice!

Very nice atmosphere and aesthetic. We can see the staff actively working in the kitchen, so it's entertaining and gives a feeling of them wanting to be transparent with their cooking process. Ube mini pancakes: very fluffy and light, tastes just enough like ube, pair very well with their whipped cream (and normally I hate whipped cream) Kimchi beef sukiyaki brunch: the croissant was buttery and flaky, the sukiyaki was marinated very sweetly but the acidity of the kimchi paired very well with it. I just qish that was more kimchi because i had 2 bites of that great combo and then it was just sweet meat, which I find too sweet. Sausage: The sausage is as short as a finger and not very thick either, but it's a solid tasting sausage. Wish I had more of it. Bacon: The bacon is extremely thick and chewy, they only gave one on my plate. Okonomiyaki Waffles fries: very good combo and the fries were nicely crispy and soft on the inside. It's a big portion too. Truffle pasta: the truffle is extremely subtle, a bit disappointing that the taste is not stronger. The mushrooms are super good though. Would not recommend this dish Sukiyaki pasta: sweet marinated meet, miso sauce/broth. It's different, but I am not impressed. Sandwich: a bit underwhelming in flavor but very filling. This place is worth a try, you will be full after your meal. Just avoid some items I listed.

We got the smoked salmon brunch, duck salad, and choco-nana pancakes. I also got the mango Italian soda. I liked how they used mango puree and not the off the shelf syrups. So it tasted really good! Everything tasted really good and fresh. The smoked salmon brunch was really big portions and can easily feed two. There was also a good variety of sweet and savory. The prices were very fair for the portions and very worth it for the quality of food.

The quality of their food has severely gone down the drain since the first time I came here back in 2021. If you look through the pictures, they are the same order of the mini pancakes over the years. Presentation alone was a million times better back then in 2021. But then slowly, not only have they started increasing their prices, but they've also started to skimp on quality and quantity. The place also continues to be understaffed with an overworked staff that forgets about your order.

Is there better tasting food out there? Yes. Is there better looking food out there? Hardly. Honestly even if I say that, the sheer amount of food there is and variety there is makes up for it. You can go there often and get a different thing each time. It’s not somewhere you’d necessarily go alone or for a quick bite (unless it’s not a busy time), but a GREAT place for a bite with friends. The fries were really good…I want more…and like I said, there was a lot (especially for the price), so I got to take some home :) I also went a previous time just for a tea with friends, and I got the mille feuille cake. My favourite type of cake. I’ve definitely had better, but it definitely could have been worse. It’s always hard to eat because of how it crumbles, but I remember it being unusually hard. So tldr, come try here at least once! It’s a good stop if you’re going to the ROM or trying out other shops in the area!

Came here with couple of my friends around noon. We got seated within 30mins. The service was pleasant, but did take awhile for our order, and getting our food. Always pleased with the food, specially grabbing any of the brunch boxes. Can’t really go wrong when your craving a little bit of everything. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a good breakfast/brunch.

I ordered online on a few different occasions! Really enjoyed the food- quite tasty and price is not bad. I haven’t dined in yet so I’m not sure how the service / vibe is but I’ve seen it when passing by and it seems cute! I really like the sandwiches and brunch boxes that they have. Size is quite filling. Will definitely be ordering again.

I ordered the chicken salad brunch and it was SO good. I love that there’s a variety of food all in one plate and that you can choose your side. The waffle fries are delicious but so was everything else. The presentation of the meal was great, especially for photos! The place gets super busy on weekends so if you’re planning on dining in, I recommend getting there within the first hour of when they open to ensure you get a table.

The place lived up to expectations - the brunch option plate has a ton of variety. It comes with salad, bacon and sausage, mini pancakes, choice of waffle fries or tater tots, eggs in your choice of style, PLUS your main. It's decent value and you get to try some of everything!! It's great for those who can't decide what they want to eat from the menu. We tried the kimchi sukiyaki beef and the lobster brunch plates. Luckily, we were starving so the amount of food was great, but if you're not too hungry, each plate is generous enough to share between two. My only complaint was how tiny the amount of lobster was compared to the beef. Besides that, everything on the plate was delicious.

These box brunches are amazing and I don't know how they do it but the pancakes are literally the best i have ever had. The boxes are cute and easy to eat in the car, which is great right now. And during the weekdays it's not as busy as the weekends so you don't have to wait forever for it. Love this place and highly recommend it to others.

The food was incredibly visually pleasing and the lobster roll had a generous service of lobster salad; I can see why the lobster roll is the most popular! The organization of the bento is incredibly colorful and the many components are delicious! It comes with mini pancakes, a salad, a piece of sausage and a piece of bacon, fries of your choice, eggs of your choice, and whichever main dish you'd like; I'd definitely recommend the lobster roll! Downside is that you are not allowed to eat outside of the restaurant at their outdoor seating, which means you will have to find some place to eat it. However, if you do not eat the food quick, it can get cold and soggy, so please be mindful of that. It is definitely a very interesting and pretty experience to try, so definitely give it a shot! Both of our bento combined cost a total of 50 bucks approximately. Thank you for reading and good luck! (:

I ordered the brunch box and mango smoothie. Both were amazing and delicious! Just enough food to fill you up and enough variety to satisfy your palette. There was quite a long line but I liked how they text you when your order is ready so you can leave and come back. The staff working there were so kind, always providing updates and making sure everyone is satisfied and gets what they want. I would definitely go back!

Tasty all around. A bit expensive, but pretty delicious too. The buttermilk pancakes tasted similar to egg waffles, so I enjoyed that aspect. A lot of variety for the drinks and the restaurant’s ambience is nice as well. That’s all I can really say about this place.

Words cannot describe how much I love this brunch spot in Toronto. Definitely my favorite overall! The quality of their food, presentation, flavours, and amount of options is just too good! And the average price of around 25 per person you just can’t find it anywhere else in Toronto now! Don’t forget to try their new Sukiyaki Beef Kimchi croissant thing lol! It’s good!

I’ve been here a few times. The first time I came here I was on a food tour with my cousins and we were only limited to beverages and the pancakes (highly recommended). Those items alone made me want to come back and try the rest! This restaurant has a nice ambiance and vibe. Service is good and the food is great! And Again …. The Pancakes!!!! My subsequent visits I tried different items and I have yet to be disappointed. The flavours go together so well. And once again… the pancakes. I have made sure every visit to have the pancakes. I have also made a few friends and family members addicted to the pancakes. So if you take anything from this review, pancakes. I love that they have a huge beverage selection, however keep in mind some items are occasionally unavailable at the time of ordering due to selling out or out of season. Some other great items are their croissants & gourmet sandwiches. Waffle fries are also a must. I highly recommend this restaurant! Bon appetite.

Excellent food. Good service. General atmosphere is good but washrooms were smelly and unpleasant. Overall delicious and great value. Would recommend Kim chi fries and the crispy taters! The mini pancakes were great just wish we could swap flavors of them in the brunch!

Some of the tastiest and most innovative breakfast food I’ve ever had! Some of the choices were very surprising, and they pack their takeout very well, so it was easy to eat and get the full experience without dining in. Parking near this place is pretty difficult, so you’ll have to get creative.

I come here often as a go-to spot for an easy brunch or lunch, and I never leave unhappy. This place has reasonably-priced food that is delicious and filling. My go-to dish here is the lobster-bisque sandwiches with waffle fries. Such a refreshing lunch that does not leave you feeling greasy. I docked off one star for the atmosphere for the smell though. My clothes always smell very oily & greasy whenever I leave which makes me feel sad :(

I got the Mini Buttermilk Pancakes with an iced Hazelnut Latte. I don’t regret this at all. the food was amazing, the portions were huge, and the coffee was one of the best coffees I had in a while. It has a little bit of everything in the plate in order to satisfy all the different cravings!! I definitely would recommend this place.

I and my sister came in early in the morning when they just open to had breakfast. This was our first time trying Light Cafe. We went in looking for a table to dine in but a bit overwhelmed about the air inside the place, it was so oily smell, so we decided to sit at the patio instead. We didn’t sit inside but the decor inside was nice. The ordered through the app was easy and convenient. We called the Lobster brunch box, a Brûlée latte, a box of mini pancake to go, and 2 deserts. The Lobster brunch box and latte were very good! The mini pancakes was good too! Their desserts are just okay to me! I hope that they use different filling for different dessert. I ordered The mango yuzu cream puffs and Fruit Mille but I didn’t see there much different since the filling cream very similar. Since their brunch box was really good, I ordered a beef brunch box again to try. The beef was a bit sweet, overall everything is delicious! Highly recommend trying Light cafe brunch box! Will be order more ☺️

Super impressed. I think it’s such a picturesque looking box. They also have Italian soda’s. Pictured is the mango one. Definitely helped on this hot day. I think everything tasted AMAZING. nothing to complain about in terms of food quality and portions. It was amazing. I think it’s worth the price as well with the quality and quantity of ingredients.

I cannot get over how amazing their brunch box is. It was extremely delicious and the perfect thing one can ask for. We got the smoke salmon with sausage bacon and tater tots and mini pancakes, a small salad and poached eggs in hollandaise which wasn’t really eggs benny but it was decent. It was just perfect. Loved the way everything was portioned and had small containers for everything you need. Perfection! I was disappointed with the ube pancake because i was so hyped for this. It tasted like regular pancakes. It came with a side of ice cream, ube cream and nutella. However I would say keep it original and remove the nutella and add more ube cream. The ice cream was a perfect touch. The service was phenomenal, so they messed with one of the items in our order which was the smoked salmon and gave us something else accidentally, as it was a take out they immediately called us back and apologized and made us a new box. Most other restaurants would have waited for the customer to complain but they rectified their mistake. As we works close by we’re definitely going to be regulars here!

  • 5/5 Xy R. 7 months ago on Google
Ordered a brunch box — portion is very generous (almost good for two pa ). I got the smoked salmon with croissants and tater tots and I loved it! Though, ube pancakes tasted regular pancakes (could maybe use more ube) PS. Customer service is great too. They mistakenly gave me a wrong brunch box initially and they called me right away to correct it by giving my actual order, without having to return the other order (we also opened it already lol)

light cafe was difficult to find at first bc the sign isn’t as prominent so word of advice, ull have to pay attention to the sign bc it is quite small and dim. however, the atmosphere is very bright and green inside and that was nice and refreshing. the service was good, we got seated immediately. for the food, i got the smoked salmon poutine which came with 2 egg benedicts on top and sour cream on the side. it was delicious and filling, but nothing outstanding. i know their popular dishes r their boxes and those seems to be extremely popular during the pandemic for takeout. i can see why as the prices are reasonably affordable and the food is filling (trust me i thought i wanted to try a box but the poutine itself was so much!). however the drinks r very distinctive compared to other cafes i’ve gone to. i got the matcha latte and my cousin got the mango smoothie. they were both flavourful and id def recommend trying a drink here. overall i’d give light cafe a 7/10. it’s good and id eat if i was in the area but i wouldn’t purposely go downtown to get it (i am in richmond hill). but it is worth trying once in your life!!

Some very interesting choices for the food. My sandwich was very tasty!! To order you do need to scan a QR code on your table and order on your phone so not the same service as many restaurants. Also, not all the food for the table came out at the same time. Quick note about ordering, the couple next to me were not from Canada and couldn’t use their phones so they did take an order for them the “old fashioned way.”

After hearing other hype this restaurant up, I can safely say this is one of the best breakfast spots I’ve been to in Toronto. Huge portions, and I love the variety. The lattes were delicious, potatoes amazing. Would 100% come back.

It's disappointing to hear that the cleaning standards have declined recently. Although the overall experience was still good, finding dirty plates and forks is certainly a letdown. Consistency in cleanliness is crucial for maintaining customer satisfaction. Hopefully, the establishment can address and rectify this issue promptly to ensure a consistently positive dining experience.

It didn’t look filling until it was! Fries were crispy and I had to try their OG Light Cafe Breakfast Sandwich which was great, very homey, BUT very tall and a little difficult to bite cleanly. I’d definitely come back to try the lobster roll though. Staff were very quick and helpful!

The wifi at this spot is so nice??? It always leaves me in awe! Also the food is a DREAM! As a vegetarian there are limited options but I still feel so full, satisfied and elated after eating here! I love bringing my partners and pals here too, it’s a great spot to get some work done but also have some cozy time with your loved ones! Also their take out options are equally fabulous!

Had a good lunch at light cafe with a few friends. We each ordered our own plates but you can definitely share , as the plates are pretty big. There is a lineup sometimes but I think it is well worth the wait if you have the time. I ordered the lobster roll and it was alright, I really enjoyed the bread more and the home fries. The latte was good too , and it even comes with a biscuit on the side. Overall timing of food and drinks coming was good and the staff are friendly. Will be back!

The mini pancakes had enough powder sugar, so I didn't drizzle too much syrup. The bacon was a bit too crispy for my liking. Everything else was fine with the smoke salmon, eggs, and tatter tots.

I've gone to Light Cafe plenty of times with my friends, but I haven't gone in a while since I moved to the States. I made sure to come here when I was visiting Toronto, and it did not disappoint! Light Cafe changed up their menus and added brunch stuff ever since the pandemic started. I have to say, their brunch menu is fantastic. I got the smoked salmon croissant brunch, a peach iced tea, and a mango cream puff. My friend got the mushroom croissant, an italian soda, and the strawberry roll. Everything was so delicious! I really recommend their brunch menu, although I will say it is quite a bit of food! I could have probably shared this with someone. I guess more bang for your buck! There was a slight 20 minute wait as we went at 1, but it wasn't that bad! Overall a great experience. Light Cafe still continues to be my favourite cafe!

The breakfast box is amazing. Very well thought out, in terms of packaging, placement, and freshness. Overall delicious and aesthetically pleasing. We ordered the breakfast box on Uber eats and the fries stayed crispy, there was no spillage of the hollandaise sauce or syrup, and the food items stayed in place. Very well done. However, it is on the pricey side, about $30-40/ person. Great to try at least once, but definitely not a regular occurrence.
