My friend ordered vegetarian fried rice without egg. Finally she got the fried rice with the chicken pieces. He son is only 5 year , from the baby he was allergic to meat and egg. Because if today’s food she was in panic pain, not sure how he is going to get the reaction. She called the restaurant and they’re saying I didn’t take the order I don’t no who is it, finally asked to hold on the line to talk to the manager, but on the line for long time no response. Worse Resturant, they don’t care if vegetarian needs to be veggie 100%. Please be aware if you order food for your kids before feed them.

Drove from Newmarket, just to try this restaurant my friend's said it taste really good. Spent $94 on my meal. The pepper shrimp just had black pepper, some onions and green onions---the Special chicken fried rice, the chicken was red but that's about it NO flavor not even some seasoning salt, the Veggie chowmein Meh as it was just spaghetti noodles, the island mix hot wings was the ONLY thing that had flavor, but was soggy wasn't crunchy even though it was deep fried

The service was excellent. Our waitress had an amazing memory! The food was really good. We got the Mango Salsa with Wonton Chips....oh my goodness...it was amazing!! The Chicken Wontons and dip was delicious. The Chicken Wonton Soup was excellent. The corn soup, shrimp... everything was just truly delicious. Tables were all in an open area. Washrooms were on the hot side....weird....it felt like walking into a sauna.

One of the best place in Pickering to get your West Indian/ Chinese Cuisine. My go-to for appetizers are the Crab and Cheese Wantons, Fiery BBQ Wings and Pepper Shrimp. For the mains, the Special Chicken Fried Rice, Spicy Garlic Shrimp and the Jerk Chicken Cantonese are my absolute faves.

Update: As always the food and ambience of this place is always on point. This time, the service was perfect, and the staff were very knowledgeable about the menu, Mohammed suggested the Apple Sour Martini, which was a nice twist on a classic, and I really enjoyed it. He was an amazing server! Despite it being a long weekend, we were accommodated with proper seating this time around, and we had no waiting issues or rude staff. ------- The food and atmosphere here is always a vibe and never misses, however we had made reservations but the staff did not honor it even though it was made 2 weeks in advance, we had to wait to have a table prepared, don't bother reserving just come in and try your luck. We also tried to order take-out the following day only to have the entire dinner order cancelled seconds after it was made. First time ever had an issue here, ultra bizzare.

Food is always delicious and has that authentic Guyanese Chinese flavour. I highly recommend the pepper shrimp, ginger beef and island mix fried rice. Price - is average Service is good but can improve. Still does not impact the flavour of the food.

Came in here a week ago for dinner and was seated by a lady who decided to assign us to an awkwardly placed table very close to the front door. We requested a change to the table, and she protested back saying it was the only table left. We looked around and realized that she was lying and didnt want to clean up another table available to the back. We asked a server if we move to that table, and they said yes. That first lady we realized was the bus girl for the night responsible for cleaning tables. We watched as she stood in the corner, carrying on and refusing to come clean the table. Our server eventually cleaned it. She seemed annoyed that we had managed to move tables and had the most unprofessional facial disposition. Absolutely rude behaviour to the umpteenth degree ! I called in the next day was told a manager would contact me, and no surprise no one did. Of course not. Sadly when it comes to Caribbean restaurants like this, it does well but it does well as so long nothing else comes around of better worth. The food is tasty, but if and its just a matter of time, if a new restaurant comes around with similar quality food and staff that are compelled to be respectful to people who are spending their money there, then Island Mix will lose their customers. Too many of our Caribbean restaurants are employing these people who are in fact destroying your brand. We talk about black businesses and supporting them, please earn and retain that support Please do better!!!!

Martini drink menu listed the price at $6.95....we placed our order... While eating someone said they were there in November and the price was $8.95.... we asked if they would honor the price in the menu we had and they sad no... nothing they could do....this was from the manager... Always good food and drinks at Island Mix! We took the opportunity to donate some books for a good cause and stopped in for a chicken wonton soup, pepper shrimp and a beer!

It was ok. The pina colada was not the greatest. Was just the mix with syrup. Doubles was ok missing the tamarind and cucumber flavour but the shell was great. The vegetable fried rice was just ok and the jerk chicken was ok. Overall it’s just ok. Might go back to try wings. Price was very affordable.

Maybe just avoid the poutine here. The cheese curds weren't melted. There were so many bones in the chicken pieces, and the gravy was way too thick as well. The fries didn't even make up for anything. All of this made a very unsatisfying poutine. The quality of this poutine in particular is poor. Improve the quality control for the customers sake.

Was in the mood for Trinidad Chinese food ...wasted my time and money going to Island Mix in Pickering. Got vegetable fried rice, veggie chow mein and crispy fried chicken. I'm still looking for the veggies and found only cabbage in both dishes and it was oily... The chicken was ok but salty!!! got to find another place.

My experience at the restaurant was absolutely amazing! The food and service were impeccable! I was visiting from the States for a few days and was meeting a friend my high school for a late lunch. I had my mom and aunt with me for the ride and they absolutely enjoyed the food! I ordered the springs rolls and they had the jerk chicken and beef curry! Top notch! I also had the chicken curry that was also amazing! The price is right also! Will visit again!!

We found this restaurant by surprise and the food here is very unique. We have enjoyed most things we tried , especially the sizzling chicken and pepper steak. Most other dishes that I have tried are on the sweeter side and a bit too saucy - but tasty all the same.

I have had wings at many different restaurants , and most times, the meat inside is dark brown as if it has been sitting there for days. I must emphasize how white and firm these were inside. Delicious food as always but was very disappointed in the service. Service was extremely slow and the maintenance of outdoor patio was disappointing. Tables were not sanitized after customer used it, discarded face mask and food droppings were under the table. I was very disgusted, don't think I will be dinning there again. Take out maybe.

I got take out recently. But have gone there many times over the last 15 years. I enjoyed the food. It seemed like the people dining in liked the atmosphere. I like that they change things up a little over the years. Great Guyanese options and pastries. I would recommend for a nice Caribbean experience for meals or even events.

This is one of my go to restaurants for West Indian Chinese cuisine. Drinks, food and vibes are always good. Servers are really friendly and follow Covid protocol.

I ordered the island mix fried rice special and the Lo-mein special which is suppose to have chicken, beef, shrimp, veggies and deep fried chicken on top. What I got was a mess. No meat in the Lo-mein and only chicken in the fried rice! Paid over $36 for 2 dishes. Such a disappointment. I've ordered from them before, it was not the best but it certainly not as bad as this.

I was having my baby shower and my caterer cancelled less than 2 hours before my event started and it was so stressful! I didn't know what to do so last minute but I knew island mix also did catering orders so we went there and placed a whole bunch of trays. We were cared for immediately and they worked hard & fast so we had our order done in less than an hour!! Safe to say island mix really came through for me and the food was delicious! Literally a life saver

One of my favourite spots to catch a nice vibe.. staff is welcoming and friendly. Food is delicious. Sam the Bartender was amazing her mixing skills are a next level, good personality good customer service. best drinks on the block hands down. Let’s just say every bartender there is good at what they do. It’s that Caribbean feeling island Mix brings that keeps you coming back for more.

Great options for food. The food is actually good. Make sure to order ahead as they take their time to get you your food. It seems that is always fresh! Their staff are usually friendly and willing to help. Don't spend too much time with the menu as it is quite long. Sometimes confuses you because you might find things you want but not really what you are looking for. Either way good options for various dishes.
