A must-visit place for south Indian food lovers. The buffet is worth the money. Everything we tried was fresh and delicious. Extra star for keeping it sweet and simple buffet items. Extra points for the ambiance. The restaurant has big windows which make it well lit. Negative points for service - the dosa, puri, and roti items are served table. The service is kinda slow, had to request multiple times for servers to stop by our table.

Neat and clean place and good service by staff members. covid precautions are being carried out. But food was not tasty. I have had visited HSB in Singapore, US and most of the branches in Tamilnadu, India but comparing all, this Scarborough location was the worst in taste of food. Dosa was ok but chutneys and sambhar were not tasty. Likewise i was also disappointed with Thali, where the side dishes didnt had any variety , quantity was very less & cannot be considered a thali.

It was a really good experience with both food and service, even on the weekdays it is very crowded especially around dinner time.Unfortunately they do not accept phone reservations so walk in only. The food quality was really good and for the quantity i can say that it was a little less than i was expecting. The service was quick and the staff was very polite. 👍🏻👍🏻For the food and service

Finally we had some amazing Indian food experience in Toronto.! The vibe was amazing. Buffet was great. Taste of all dishes was up to mark not a single dish disappointed us. Service was good. Overall thumbs up. $21 per person buffer (at the time of our visit) totally worth it. Must try place.!

Food was overall tasty, but agree with many reviews that the price is hefty for what you’re getting. The dosas are so thin and crispy - maybe the can offer two instead to balance out with the other side dishes (sambar + chutneys). The filter coffee was alright, first time trying it so don’t know what to expect. The place is nice and big, with many seating tables and friendly staff.

We ordered two paper masala dosas. The food looked good and was presented well, but the taste was completely bland. There were very few potatoes in both the dosas and the sambhar tasted like boiled, flavourless daal without any vegetables or proper spices in it. The crowd was mostly South Asian, so why does the restaurant seem to be making food that may appeal more to other communities that like their food without much salt or spice? On the plus side, the restaurant has a nice seating area and the washrooms were clean. The servers were polite and attentive enough. However, the food is overpriced for the quantity that they give you. It feels like you are getting a small snack and paying the price of a proper meal for it. This is not a place that I would recommend to someone who wants to eat genuine South Indian food.

Key place for lovers of vegetarian and South Indian cuisine. The dosas are crispy, light, with an overwhelming amount of options for filling. All for a very reasonable price. The buffet is a great option as well, but come on off hours as it gets quite busy.

Good customer service. We have ordered Medhu vada, mysore masala dosa, cheese Kara masala dosa and Gobi Manchuria dry. Except Gobi Manchuria everything else tastes good. Manchuria does not have flavour and it's soggy.

Very tasty food and friendly staff. I have to say I don't understand the bad reviews. The staff are very friendly, the food is fresh and tasty with healthy portions (way too much for me!). The thali lunch would almost feed two people in my opinion. The guidance around COVID protocols is super clear and presented in an easy to understand format. This team seems to get it right under some tough conditions. Am looking forward to try some other dishes on my next visit. Great job all!

Awesome Food and Awesome person who took care of us named by “Silpy” No need to tell about the food quality and quantity 100/100. Ordered and got the food with in 8 mints. We have been coming to this place since they opened in Scarborough. No need to think twice about this place. Now that they have renovated this place looks bigger and much much spacious and very very clean.

Best South Indian restaurant. They have the lots of dishes we ordered the dosa and idli and both are so delicious. Upset with the service little bit because all the food doesn’t came at same time they bring the food which is ready first that doesn’t make sense if you go out for dine in together.

South Indian Vegetarian Restaurant. I didn’t realize it is a huge international chain. This is the second time I am going - it has been some years. The place is nice, updated decor. Clean and spacious. Food is prepared fresh - a little wait but worth it. Food is rich, flavourful and tasty. Will definitely visit again. They offer a buffet service as well.

I had the best South Indian food experience in Toronto! The taste is as delicious as it looks, and the prices are also quite reasonable compared to other restaurants. The best part of this restaurant is that it serves only vegetarian options. They have a huge variety of food to offer, from must-try mini idly to rava dosa; they have the best in town. The dine-in area is also quite large and clean. Overall, I must recommend this place for South Indian food.

They have south and north India food. The dosa were authentic and the sweets were delicious. I had gulab jamun with vanilla ice cream it was a greatest combination and taste was mouth watering. The customer service was fast and friendly. Washrooms were clean. The ambiance was pleasant.Highly recommended.

I went to Saravanaa bhavan after long time, Their food is really good and authentic. And the place looks really good after the renovation, It's a must go for Dosas. We ordered Masala dosa and Paneer dosa and both were really good. If you've never tried their Paneer Dosa I would definitely recommend it.

The service was okay. The food we had was okay. There was a big group of us, so we ordered plenty of dishes, including the regular masala dosa & the paper masala dosa (a bit more expensive), and they both looked exactly the same. The dosa was good, but there is not even 1/2 cup of filling for the size of dosa, so you're mostly eating it with the chutney that all dosas have. The rasamalai was great, though. I've had better experiences with other restaurants in regards to price vs. portion of food. Also, the place had incredibly loud music, which some of us did not like. It made it hard to communicate with each other but it also gave me a headache. My family enjoyed the restaurant's food but they also haven't really been to other South asian restaurants here before. Keep in mind they charge 10% gratuity for over 5 people. Overall, I found it pretty mid. I would go back if they wanted to, but I wouldn't go back by myself.

Went here again, and this time for my parents wedding anniversary. They love dosa and so do I so we had to do ot and there vadas and idly are just delicious also. The food was as good as it was last time so that's the only reason for the 5 star rating, or it would be a 4. The service is good. However, you need to repeat yourself 2 or 3 times. i just dont get why until i get up myself and go get the utensils for your counter because my food would get cold! So please work on that for future customers. It can hit you back in a very bad way!

Visited this location for the first time with my family. We went in on a busy day. It's a Saturday, it's Diwali and it's lunch hour, and we still got our table in under 30 minutes. From a courteous manager and lovely food, to a wonderful waiter. Our experience was amazing. Shivam ,our waiter was very polite and on top of delivering a wonderful experience. He deserves a promotion or a raise. We'd definitely visit again!

Visited this location with a group of friends on a weekend. We have ordered several items and shared between us. To my surprise every item was so good and maintained authentic taste of South India. I would rate this restaurant a 9 out of 10 while the other location in Mississauga would be a 4 out of 10 when compared with the food taste, service, friendliness of staff, etc.

Best place to have yummy vegetarian food. We feel very comfortable and the staff are always so nice. They also donates to various charities so definitely worth supporting them. Food presentation is on point. My favorite food to order is their paneer biriyani but as you can see my husband loves the thali with various curries, chutney and dessert. They are very famous for their huge dosa not really a dosa fan but I am sure it's tasty.

Visited for the first time after they renovated the restaurant. There is more space and the layout is also nice. Now you can see what happens in the kitchen. However i felt the portions have reduced compared to before. Other than that the overall experience was pretty good. Definitely recommend.

Being a South Indian this is the best place to eat when you are craving for some yummy South Indian dish 😊 I have visited this place multiple times and it has never failed. They have buffet lunch/dinner during weekends or on some holidays.. buffet is the best way to enjoy all the food here. And finally after eating the food order a strong filter coffee and lights up the soul. My fav South Indian food place. Must try: plain dosa, poori, ghee pongal, filter coffee.

Perfect place for Tamil Nadu style food. Filter coffee what amazing. Ghee Paper Dosa and Bajji were great. We got Ghee Pongal and Parotta for takeout. And they were great as well. I wish they give more kurma/gravy with Parotta instead of the mashed potatoes (like in Poori Kizhangu).

I recently had an amazing dining experience at Saravana Bhavan, and I highly recommend trying their Rawa Dosa, Rasam, and Podi Idli. The Rawa Dosa was perfectly crispy. The Rasam, was a tangy and spicy just like you find one in India. Podi Idli - soft and fluffy rice cakes coated with a delicious spice powder called podi. They were simply divine! The most surprising dosa was paneer chilly as it was insanely good and reminded me of Mumbai Street fusion dosa. By far this has been closest. So, definitely give it a try if you want to taste something different. If you are craving for authentic South Indian food, then Saravana Bhavan hits all nostalgic notes. ☺️

Really good veg buffet with many varieties. Our host was very courteous and kind. She noticed we didn’t finish the tea and asked us for feedback. Since we didn’t like the tea much, she was quick to replace it by filter coffee which was so delicious and just like home! 5 stars to food and 5 star for customer service.

Totally sucked !!! Served me spoilt paneer rawa dosa... Totally tasteless food not at all authentic.... if I had the option to give 0 stars I would have!!! Unfortunately food ended up in Dustin as it wasn't safe to consume!

Lovely interior and lively choice of colours. It’s a good place to enjoy traditional South Indian food. They have a lot of options for dosa and even the thali has pretty delicious elements.

The restaurant at Scarborough has been recently redesigned to a more open concept. Very well planned and laid out. They are very systematic with seating and you always arrive to a well cleaned and laid out table. Disposable place mats also act as the menu. Service is quick and the food is very reasonably priced and excellent as always. They have expanded their menu too. Very clean and you are treated with great respect no matter who you are of how you look.

The last time I came to this Saravanaa Bhavan location was in the 2000s and it has seriously been redecorated. The restaurant was surprisingly busy on a weekday at 3 pm. We ordered mango lassi, coffee, medhu vada, puri, paratha, onion dosa, and cheese kara masala dosa. The medhu vada was amazing and we would definitely order it again. It came with four pieces. It was hot and crispy on the outside and soft inside. We would also do the puri again. The chutney or curry that it came with was so good. I would skip the onion dosa next time. It isn’t the soft, dip-able texture of a good dosa. The masala potato filling was okay but I might try a different filling next time. I found the filling plain and needing salt and spice.

There was a bearded guy who was taking care of our table, he was too good. For a first time visitor, I had very less idea about the menu items. The guy helped in choosing the best dishes. He knows how to sell items, I must say. Moreover, we observed he was controlling the most of the dine-in area as well in a very professional way. Highly impressed with him. 10/10 for service, 10/10 for food. Post covid, we've been to a lot of restaurants, got awstruck with the service over here.

Finding this place in Canada is a blessing when you are away from home. Dosas are yummylicious beyond a doubt, the filter coffee may need a bit of work! But grateful to have found you here! 🙏

Excellent food and top notch service. I recently visited Toronto from Calgary. This was the place chosen by my friends and they had some great stuff to talk about. Well I can say that this is by far one of the good south Indian place that I have visited. All the items are really delicious plus the ambiance was excellent. I would recommend this place if you are a foodie and loves South Indian food then this is the place to go. Plus they are all across the glove.

“Lovely” experience! The best place so far where I have experienced authentic south Indian food in Canada. I found that the presentation could have been better, but if food is good, I am sorted. Service at the table was ok. Staff who served was not at all interactive or friendly.lot of room for improvement there. Other than that experience was good! Will go back again and hope for better serving staff who can attend us.

We went to this branch to experience the buffet and it was quite good until we found out there was a used tissue paper inside the jug which they provided drinking water. All this while until the end of our buffet, we left unnoticed about this disgusting tissue soaked inside the jug which we drank water from. My friend noticed small particles inside her cup when she poured water and she casually looked inside the jug to find this surprise. It looked like a tissue which was used to clean the table and left it inside the jug by some crack people or kids. Because the water was different colour and had small particles in it. When we tried to inform their staff, the clever staff came and took the jug with her and just left abruptly to clear the evidence from our table informing us the manager will be with us shortly. I had clicked a picture before letting them know which I have attached here. When the manager came, he told us “We are really sorry, it wasn’t on purpose, I don’t know what to say” We were all just shocked and disgusted with what happened and we didn’t want to create a scene there, so we even tipped and left the place. I realize it was a mistake to not report this incident since it was really unhygienic or the restaurant to not wash the utensils which was served in another table. The food experience would have been great if this haven’t had happened, whenever I think of this buffet it reminds me of this contaminated water I drank from here

My second time visiting here. Nice authentic south Indian food. The coconut chutney and Sambhar brought back home memories. Ask for what’s available depending on when you are arriving for a meal as not all the menu item may be available at the time. The new staff are very friendly. Would surely come back!

All the food items that we ordered were pricey and the quantity wasn’t sufficient to end our hunger , so we had to order the same thing twice . It would’ve been much better if these guys reduced the price of their food item . Keeping that aside this space could fit in a medium crowd and has sufficient parking space . Even the restrooms were very hygienic . The staffs were properly groomed too . Filter coffee lacked the Indian taste and quality. Ghee paper dosa and Masala dosa was okayish. Puri wasn’t up to the mark. Even the Channa Masala didn’t taste well. We ordered Channa Masala separately and still the quantity was too low for the price they charge , I have attached the phot so you can see the quantity too . But the vada’s did a pretty good job.

Was craving channa bhattura but ended up liking their Podi Idli and dry Manchurian Gobi way more. Everything tasted fresh and our food came quite fast but a little out of order (appetizer showed up third). Menu and recipes seem like they may have changed a little but the flavor and right amount of spice is still there

We dined here on recommendation by my friends from South India. It was a pleasant dining experience and we were able to take in some of the cuisine and culture. Our group was able to sample a good variety of food on offer. We started with some Medhu Vada ($7.99) then sampled a lot of different dosas. I ordered Channa Batura ($12.25) for myself just to try out something different other than dosas. For beverage, we had some Special Masala Chai and Madras Coffee. We ended the meal by ordering something sweet such as the Payasam ($5.49) and Kulfi ($5.99). Between all that we were able to sample, it was an amazing dining experience. We were able to gain good exposure to South Indian and vegetarian food. I like how the place's setting was designed and laid out. It was clean and very spacious. The menu was laminated and dish descriptions are also printed. I also appreciate how there are wash stations available outside so one need not go inside the male and female restrooms to clean up. A small issue I have was the very long wait times before the food were served. I do understand that this can possibly be attributed to the food being prepared fresh or due to the business of the restaurant during the time, but I can't say for sure.
