The Old York Tavern is that neighborhood spot that you didn't know about, but you definitely need to. Headed up by Chef Dave, Saad, and Katie, the team brings a slew of expeirence that they've garnered from some of your favourite places all around the city. It is a no frills restaurant, but you feel right at home the moment you step foot into the door. I'd be lying if I didn't say that I have walked by this place hundreds of times, but no more. Definitely have to pop in whenever I walk by. The food, the atmosphere and the service are all top notch.

Everything was wonderful. We had the calamari, speck and summer squash to share. Burger and frites with thick cut, black pepper maple bacon, Gnudi and the Wild Argentinian Shrimp were also thoroughly enjoyed. The Panache and Godson were mixed perfectly. Will definitely be back!

Heard so many good things about Old York Tavern, and it didn't disappoint! Cool vibe for a drink and great food. The calamari were a favorite, and the bone marrow with escargot. The whole menu looks delicious. Luckily, I live around the corner, so I can try it all!

The space is super welcoming and the neighborhood is very cute. Prices are fair for the quality you receive! Their burger truly was amazing. Staff are very friendly and give you tips on both the food and cocktail menu! Will definitely be back! You can tell they love what they do!

We loved that the old york tavern re-opened! The newly renovated space looks great, the white walls makes it feel more open and the patio is the same as it was! We didn’t realize that the entire menu would be changed, and even though the food was great, it’s definitely not as kid friendly anymore, the only thing our 13 year old could get was the burger, and the rest of the menu is more tapas style, and you really have to get more in order to feel full. The shrimp dish came with 6 pieces of shrimp, so the waitress recommended getting a side of sourdough bread. Its got more of a date night, girls night vibe now, but I’d definitely come back to try the brunch menu, the pictures people of posted look great.

Burger was delicious. Tomato salad should have been listed as appetizer. Draft beer selection was limited but reasonably priced. Chris, our server, was very friendly and helpful. Atmosphere - we ate in and “noise’ level was high. Probably quieter on patio. Biggest downer for us was the prices. We appreciate this was ‘opening night’ but despite the positives, prices were too high.

We had our wedding in August 2021 and we needed to eat before we got to the venue. We had always wanted to try Old York but hadn’t had a chance. Luckily it was close to our venue but we needed to drop by a little before they were open in order to keep with our timeline. We sent them an email and they were so kind! They agreed to open a little early so we could make our timeline work. They set us up at one of the booths outside with champagne flutes and decorated the table nicely. The poutine we ordered was excellent and the stop made for awesome photos too! We’re so thankful!

The new and improved Old York has truly stepped up their game! Food is incredible, followed by quick and friendly service! I’ve been for dinner and brunch and wasn’t disappointed by any of the food. I ordered the Tavern Burger which was excellent and the fries were perfect. The lobster eggs beni at brunch is a hangover cure (trust) Don't hesitate to give this place a try.

Katie was fantastic! The food was delicious. Drinks were wonderful. I wish I came here sooner. I'll definitely come here regularly! Couldn't ask for a better neighborhood hidden gem.

Me and my husband went to eat brunch and decided to try this place for the first time. We sat and ordered and that was the extent of service we got. The table next to us came in after us and had time to order and FINISH their food without us so much as getting a top off on our coffee or any sort of acknowledgement from the staff. After seeing a third table that came in after us receive and eat their food we left again without acknowledgement from any of the staff

Opening night which was extremely busy and yet the customer service was excellent. We ended up inside as the patio was full but had plenty of room for the five of us. We tried a couple of starters and both were delicious. The beverage selection was great. I tried the Burdock lime gose which was really refreshing. We will definitely be back.

Food was delicious and fast service. The place was pretty empty but it was a Wednesday night evening. Great for a quick casual eat.

I was not expecting it to be this good!! Never got around to trying it before the Reno but went for brunch today and wowwww! The sourdough bread that was used was SO fresh and delicious, my fiancés eggs were buttery and so tasty. I had the French toast which was delicious. The brunch menu was a little bit limited and im taking away a star as I just wish there were more meat/fish-free options. I would’ve had the eggs Benedict’s but it was with lobster. However I realize the restaurant has recently opened so maybe that will come with time. The food was very enjoyable😀

I’m a picky eater, but I honestly can’t find anything to moan about this gaff, if anything. Servers are efficient/charming, and super professional when it calls for it. Give cool tips about the bar, venue, and the neighbourhood. Good people. Back of the house is a tight ship. Food quality is excellent, they take great care in creating their craft. Even banter between head chef in sous chef, within an earshot was a learning experience. Solid crew. Owners recently got keys to this place, and have a very precise vision for this establishment and that alone is admirable, never mind anything else. Will be regular here; perfect for a cheeky weeknight date. Also interesting intersection, just from a social engineer perspective.

Edit, in response to owner: it doesn’t take half a year to make a website. Also, your server was just rude, and we’re never coming back. There are just too many great options in the GTA to ever need to chance a bad experience with you again. Came for my birthday. Used the Google listing to get relevant info because the place doesn’t have even a website. The Google listing doesn’t show that the dinner snacks menu isn’t available before 4pm on weekends. The server was irritated and didn’t even commiserate for a second. Just said well you should check Instagram before you come. Not the friendly/welcoming service we have had before. Food was great as usual. Service left a bad taste. Probably won’t be back.

Edit: decided to come here to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and the service was rude and unwelcoming. Won’t go back, and certainly not for a special occasion. Came here for a birthday party and had an absolutely fabulous time. The food was delicious. The drinks were creative and beautifully presented. The service was friendly, competent, and just on point. Would *highly* recommend.

Somehow they turned a classic cheap neighborhood hang into an expensive night out in an already expensive city. Its hard to compare the old to the new fairly but a $26 burger that underwhelms, and a unwelcoming menu (sweetbreads to tossed in Frank's hot sauce) is not what an ever gentrified city needs. A place that once welcomed a quick drink after a walk in the dog park on a Saturday afternoon, or a large table of friend crushing drinks on a friday night, is replaced with a trendy french Bistro style menu that makes it difficult to justify when le swan is a few blocks away and does everything better for the same price. Old York... I know its tough to cut prices in todays economy, but cut the pretentious menu, cut the expensive ingredients and bring back an affordable, accessible neighborhood hang that friends want to hang out in.

Nine of us had dinner at The Old York Tavern. Very limited pub-fare menu, but great job accommodating the gluten/dairy-free person in the group. Nothing breaded goes in the fryer, so she was able to have French fries (pretty good) and even calamari, as the coating was potato and rice flour based. Hamburger was just OK. Service was friendly and prompt.

I've been here for Brunch a couple times since they reopened and both times were delicious, though the menu is a bit limited. Had the bacon and eggs plate as well as the salmon tartine. A bit pricier for brunch compared to some other places. The orange juice is ridiculously small for $7. Patio is lovely and dog friendly.

We randomly came across this beautiful vibe of a patio while walking through Toronto. Our server was absolutely wonderful. The vibe was so relaxing and needed. I can’t wait to come back and try your food. Cheers!

Tried out this bar before heading over to a concert w Budweiser stadium. They have a good beer selection with very reasonable prices. The three of us all had different items. There was a mushroom poutine which was tasty and a nice spin on the classic. The pulled pork tacos were fresh tasting and on point. Then there was the veg Reuben which looked delicious. They are know for the original Reuben as well which has kimchi on it very nice tough. The service was extremely friendly and made the experience even better. Tuesday nights are trivia nights which are apparently a lot of fun. Definitely would recommend trying this place out.

Out of sheer greed, I don't want to tell people about this place as it's a gem in the neighbourhood. Super sweet staff, tasty food and great selection of beers!! Never change 😊

Decent place, service was ok - went for brunch. Food was a 5/10 overall - pulled pork Benny was 7.5/10 mostly because it was unique.

We had to stop for a quick lunch before a hospital visit. What a treat! Fish and chips were excellent. Waitress was friendly and efficient. Key Lime pie and fresh made coffee topped it all off. Bathrooms were spotless! Thoroughly enjoyed it.

A nice little independent restaurant situated on its own in a real, living neighbourhood in downtown Toronto. Not a fancy place, but very comfortable, friendly and welcoming. We sat on the patio on a warm summer night as their popular trivia night unfolded indoors. The menu is basic and simple, with vegetarian options.

Nice patio - it has a neighbourhood vibe and seems perfect for a cold pitcher of beer and conversation. Pet friendly as well. The brunch is pretty decent, although the poached eggs in the Eggs Benedict were overcooked and the home fries were quite disappointing. The Kimchi Sandwich was messy, but delicious. Their website makes a big deal of their "famous" Mado hot sauce, and as a hot sauce aficionado, I asked the server if we could have some, but he didn't seem too enthused about it, and brought us a sorry looking portion for the table. I didn't really get enough to form an opinion about it.

Always a pleasant experience coming here. Despite the passing of the years and the inevitable change of faces the service is always warm and friendly. The environment is laid back and relaxed, the house lager refreshing and the menu simple and tasty. Everything one could ask for from a low key, local watering hole. Cheers to Old York!

This is one of my favourite restaurants I’ve been to in a long time. We enjoyed the first patio day of the year here this past weekend and it was delightful. We were a party of 4 and all really enjoyed our brunch. The waitress was really kind and did a great job at at managing all the outdoor tables. My only criticism is that the breakfast wrap I got was a little on the small side but it was so good I don’t even care. My husband and I will be back here many times I’m sure.

Love this place! Service is awesome. Great neighborhood pub! I had the cauliflower Shawarma bowl!! It's vegetarian and though I do love meat, this was very satisfying and tasty. My only criticism is it could have used more garlic sauce, but that could just be taste. Would definitely have again!!

Not a huge menu, but pulled pork poutine was great. Life in the clouds on tap was a nice surprise. Staff were excellent. Will be back for another round.

Love this cute neighborhood spot. Food and service are wonderful. I'd really suggest adding a non-pork meat option to the breakfast menu. Perhaps the pastrami from the kimchi rubens can be substituted for the peameal? Thanks!!

I have been to this pub many times. I like the beer, the food, the casual ambience, and the service. Because of their location on a side street, I find their patio and on street dining facilities particularly pleasant.

I went here the other night and had a fantastic experience. My boyfriend and I showed up a few minutes before the kitchen was going to close and the staff went out of their way to make sure we got sat and ordered in time! The food was also really good; I ate the fried chicken and would 100% get it again!

Came here for brunch and it’s a nice neighbourhood spot. The patio was cute and with the restaurant being a little tucked in the neighbourhood, I liked that I was able to enjoy my meal and chat with my friend on the patio with peaceful and quieter vibes as opposed to hearing the loud city traffic. We ordered the smoked salmon tartine - it was a good mix of flavours and very refreshing. The staff were also very accommodating with regards to my egg allergy (which can be difficult when I go to any brunch place). The bacon was superb - it was thick cut and fatty, with a lot of flavour. The service was great, the staff would come by to check on us and were super friendly. Overall very happy and delicious experience, would come back again.
