The
ER
I’ve
been
to
Scarborough
General
ER
a
number
of
times
for
my
kiddos.
The
ER
is
more
like
a
walk
in
clinic.
You
arrive.
You
take
a
number.
You
wait
your
turn.
In
theory
this
works
but
in
reality
it
doesn’t.
People
who
come
in
via
ambulance
get
triaged
first.
Even
if
the
person
who
came
in
on
the
ambulance
only
had
a
sore
throat
from
a
cold
(meaning
there
is
no
priority
to
the
sickest
given).
I
100%
support
prioritization
of
the
sickest,
but,
prioritization
is
given
the
most
vocal
who
burst
in
on
the
triage
desk
ahead
of
the
numbers.
It
didn’t
matter
your
number,
if
you
wanted
to
jump
the
line
you
could.
Important
to
add:
I
don’t
blame
the
nurse,
people
were
angry.
While
what
was
happening
wasn’t
fair
the
situation
she
was
in
(1
triage
station
was
open)
they
were
obviously
short
staffed
and
the
situation
she
was
in
surely
sucked
too.
I’m
surprised
a
fight
didn’t
break
out
between
the
patients.
If
you
were
civil
and
followed
the
process,
you
didn’t
get
treatment.
Last
night,
in
3.5
hours
8
numbers
were
called.
Of
that
8
2-3
had
left.
There
were
10
more
to
go
before
me.
I
left
and
went
to
another
near
by
hospital
where
I
was
triaged
within
minutes
and
my
infant
was
quickly
moved
into
a
private
room
where
we
receive
treatment.
My
previous
visit
at
SG
I
was
in
a
room
in
the
ER
within
30minutes,
even
though
the
room
was
a
storage
closet
(no
joke).
I
was
happy
to
have
a
room
and
appreciated
their
efforts
to
get
us
out
of
the
waiting
room.
However
after
I
got
in,
I
felt
like
I
was
forgotten.
No
one
ever
checked
on
us
and
we
never
saw
a
nurse.
After
5
hours
a
doctor
did
a
3minute
check
up,
a
RSV
test,
and
scheduled
us
for
a
next
day
follow
up.
24
hours
later
I
was
called
with
the
results
of
the
test
but
I
missed
the
call,
a
phone
number
was
left
to
call
to
obtain
results.
I
called
the
number
and
no
one
could
tell
me
the
results.
They
advised
they
had
to
call
us,
I
couldn’t
call
them.
It
was
a
mess.
48
hours
after
our
ER
visit
we
had
to
return
and,
were
admitted
for
5
days.
When
we
were
rushed
back
to
the
ER,
while
we
waited
our
turn,
when
we
got
to
triage,
triage
didn’t
triage
us
but
took
us
to
a
room
immediately.
tThe
staff
were
amazing.
My
daughter
was
critical,
we
had
a
team
of
5+
people
surrounding
us
to
help.
They
were
constantly
asking
me
if
I
was
OK
too.
I
appreciated
them
checking
on
me!
In
the
past
at
SG,
I’d
take
a
number
and
be
seen
within
30-45
minutes
by
triage.
I
typically
was
brought
into
a
private
room
quickly
after.
Doctors
are
always
kind
and
listen
to
my
questions.
I’ve
appreciated
the
after
hour
paediatrics
walk
in
(now
appointment
only,
which
you
can
never
get
an
appointment
for).
The
nurses
are
generally
kind
and
helpful.
The
doctors
on
this
floor
very
knowledgeable.
I
give
this
floor
a
5
out
of
5.
I
trust
them.
Getting
to
the
ped’s
floor
however
is
the
issue.
Tip:
record
your
child
if
they
are
having
breathing
issues
incase,
during
your
wait,
things
improve….
This
was
one
issue
we
had.
After
a
5
hour
wait
her
breathing
got
better.
Then,
after
we
left
it
got
significantly
worse.
The
doctor
suggested
recording
a
video
in
future.
