😠 The Extremely terrible experience I ever been through since I was born. Don’t give hope to those “doctors”, they won’t save you until you’re gonna die. Btw, the waiting time is extremely long. Their doctor already know my girlfriend been through pain and tell me that my girlfriend need to inject pai... People often mention hospital, staff, care, time, nurses, doctor, wait, hours, Markham, amazing,

On December 3,2023 at 10:15am there were staff with uniform smoking cigarette at the main entrance where the wheelchairs are parked. Please review the camera. I have a son with respiratory problems and the smoke from the cigarette was very strong. This is near the main entrance doors and there are also no smoking signs posted. This is your staff , please educate them that this a hospital environment. Please review the camera at the time and date mentioned above. I confronted the staff that was smoking and she kept continuing to smoke while I was with my son. Please take action and inform all staff or else I would send out and email to the stakeholders. This this not acceptable at a hospital! Other than that that hospital is good, no complaints of the service.

It is one of the most worst hospitals in the east end. I wish I could give them a lower rating. Staff always have a terrible attitude. They are extremely rude and get agitated when people ask them even a single question. There was a 70 year old lady with me there, and she said i don't know how I'm gonna make it with all this walking. I suggested that she ask for a wheelchair. She said she was worried that the nurse would get irritated and give her a harder time. UNBELIEVABLE. I didn't have any family with me at the hospital with me, and I was unable to walk around, so I got a wheelchair. They tried to almost force me out of my chair and get me to start walking, knowing that I hadn't eaten for 2 days and was in severe pain. Then they made me wait over 45 minutes to go for my ultrasound just because they said there weren't any porters available. After waiting over 4 hours to see the doctor, he came into the room and was in such a rush to get the checkup over with. He didn't wait for me to even finish telling him what I was experiencing and walked out of the room in the middle of our conversation. If this hospital wasn't the closest to my house, I would never visit her! If you have time and can make the drive, I suggest going to any other hospital but here.

The female nurses in the emergency room were some of the most disrespectful and rude attendance I had to deal with while I bought my mother in for urgent care. The least they can do is have a bit of respect, not waste time, and not tell a patient to shut it or make snarky comments. Completely unprofessional works, a disgrace to other health care workers.

Worst hospital in the area. If u go to ER, they will ask you to change your mask in public which u can easily get covid. You are also expected to wait 3 -4 hours in the ER registration area. Staffs in the front registration are rude. If they were nice, I think I will give at least 3 or 4 stars.

I have an ongoing medical condition. I usually go to this hospital and get great treatment but today was terrible. I had to go in a wheelchair and my daughter put me by the registration kiosk while she parked the car. I asked a person working there to wheel me into the registration desk. She asked me where is your family member. The doctor knew nothing of my condition and asked me how much medication do I get. Waited over 3 hours before getting any type of medication leading to an increase in my pain. When I left gave me a prescription to take 2 pills 3 timed per day and prescribed 10 pills. I will have to go out in the cold again to get a refill from my family doctor. Not sure if short staff but usually 5 star treatment but 1 star today.

Two separate occasions caused me to give a bad review for this hospital. 1) My LO had a high fever, we took her to MSH at around 2am. There was barely anyone waiting. Took us an hour to get into Triage. Then another 2 hour wait at a very quiet ER. My LO was given Tylenol the Advil to lower her fever and had to be monitored for another hr. Finally at 4:30 the doctor came and said it's just a regular fever and that it's normal if its around for a week! A high fever for a week is NOT NORMAL! We were then sent home. My LO continued to have fever and I had to take her to a Walk in the next day, and right away it was determined that she had an ear infection and needed antibiotics. Then I realized the ER doctor didn't even bother looking in her ears! 2) Last week my husband had a sharp pain in his abdomen. He went in the ER at 9 and didn't get home until 1:30am. Got a CT scan and had to go in the next day for ultrasound. Turns out it was a "mild" case of appendicitis, so they gave him a week's worth of antibiotics and told him to call a number to follow up. Today he calls the number given (which belongs to a surgeon who can then determine whether he needs a surgery or not). They said that they DONT HAVE A FILE ON HIM! How is that even possible? I am speechless. While I understand our health system is under huge strain. That does not warrant the lack of professionalism and organization. Unacceptable.

My uncle was at the hospital admitted for a recent illness! He was taken well care of! The nurses were very informative and quite nice! Overall the place was very clean and easy to navigate!

Last night was the worst experience in the emergency waiting area . I took my son to get check out from injury at school to get an x ray . The Markham Stouffville hospital refused to allow us to wait in waiting area without giving our rights to have have an option to wear a Mask. This is outrageous and inhumane to be allowed to treat other human being in such a way . To refuse a child was a horrible experience. Please do better Canada 🇨🇦

My wife delivered our boy here yesterday. 3 out of 2 nurses are mean, stuck up and do not want to answer questions. Her doctor that supposed to deliver the baby left yell at her a hundred times said if you don’t know how to push then im going to leave…whhhhhaaaaat??? She left during delivery, and yelled at her 4 times using the opportunity to abuse her knowing that my wife delivered alone by herself as i could not be there due to covid and no vaccinations… i will have that doctor reported. DO NOT deliver your baby in this hospital!!!

July 3, 2022: Took my mom to ER yesterday after she had fall. She have severe pain in knee. After waiting for 2 hours, they took her in and did x-ray. Doctor declared that there is no fracture and discharged her without any treatment!! July 4, 2022: Today pain worsened even though taking pain medication. So, we went to Markham urgent care where doctor asked to go for ultrasound at hospital!! Now, again at ER but have to again wait in line and go through same procedure as yesterday including triage 😄🤔 Waiting in line now... Had very bad experience here couple of times in past (2018). Avoid this hospital if you can... Update (Jul 12, 2022): I was told that fracture clinic in hospital will schedule an appointment with Orthopedic doctor within a week. Since not received any communication from fracture clinic for an appointment, I called today to hospital and asked to talk to fracture clinic. Call went on voice mail and they promised to get back within 3 days!! Are you kidding me??? It's been already 10 days since the fracture. So, called again and insisted to speak to fracture clinic person. This time they were able me to connect to a person who told that they received the referral today!! (really!! magically same day when I inquired :)) They gave an appointment for coming Thurs (Jul 14). 12 days after injury!!!

I had breast reduction surgery yesterday and I can not get over the professionalism and attentiveness the nurses/the rest of the staff had! registration over the phone was quick and easily, when I went into the hospital the woman at the main entrance showed me exactly where I needed to go and I waited only about 10 min to get into the area for my surgery prep. All the nurses who helped me out were amazing and made me feel so relaxed! I didn’t get even slightly nervous at all. My surgeon (Dr Ron Wallman) is incredible and also made me feel so relaxed and optimistic. Right after the surgery, I had a woman named Julie help me out briefly and she was great and super helpful . Finally, when I went into the after care area I had a woman named Vanessa helping me and she was incredible! She was so kind, patient, attentive and helpful answering my questions with aftercare. Thank you Markham Stouffville Hospital, I highly recommend them :)

Absolutely terrible emergency room. I've never encountered such rude staff members In a triage before. Instead of helping people to register as quickly as possible the women sit behind the desk and check there phones and talk to each other. I would highly suggest more training for the triage staff members. There needs to be a manager watching these women as it shouldn't take 2 hours to Register a patient if the waiting room isn't that busy. No ultrasound technician at night so basically wasted my time. What kind of hospital does that. Unbelievable

It was an absolute pleasure working on this project and doing our part in Constructing History. We wanted to share some ‘before’ photos and give a brief summary. MGI Construction is pleased to have taken part in the much-needed expansion of the Markham Stouffville Hospital, by providing an entire site excavation and site development for the foundation. Our client completed the expansion of the Markham Stouffville Hospital in September of 2014 and with this expansion, Markham Stouffville Hospital is now twice as big and has tripled the size of its emergency room. The expansion of the hospital has created more jobs and will fulfill the needs of the growing community for years to come.

Super long wait time. I went to ER of another hospital and it was 3 hrs wait including all tests and imaging done. I’m not sure what’s wrong with this hospital. There was no Ultrasound technician at night? We waited 4+ hrs just for the blood work results. And still have to return next day for Ultrasound as there was no imaging technician working during evening/time? How many hours should a patient wait uncomfortably? In pain? It was suspected ectopic pregnancy, but ultrasound could not be done? Perhaps this there should be a sign outside of the ER entrance, or even post it on the hospital website, allowing patients to know about it and choose the appropriate hospital for their own care. I will definitely not coming back tm here. Unless I really have nothing else to do no where to spend my time.

MSH used to be amazing ... until Oak Valley Health took over ... Oak Valley has destroyed a once amazing hospital. Old staff are still great, but slowly being replaced by the incompetent new staff. Phones are no longer answered, sitting on hold or in voice mail hell for hours is the new norm. It has gone from feeling like a place where people cared about my health, to I am just a health card number that really doesn't matter at all. Patients are people with feelings. They want their tests done quickly to ease their minds. Not told that the test will be done in 3 months and too bad you don't have a choice. Great systems Oak Valley. Never used to be like this until you showed up.

Brought my dad in for severe abdominal pain last night to this Markham Stouffville hospital. Was told that it was one of the best hospital. What a crock….I wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody who’s in need of urgent care. Aside from the staff that screen you at the entrance, the nurses are rude and don’t really want to help patients. He’s a cancer patient and was told by his oncologist that if he were to go to emergency for any reason that he just have to show his hospital card identifying him as a cancer patient(given by the staff at the oncology ward at the Oshawa LakeridgeHealth) so he doesn’t have to wait in line. Guess what? We were told that he had to wait like everyone else. After waiting for hours, he was given morphine and taken to X-ray and had some blood done too. They put him in a make shift room, with only recliners, no beds. Do you know how uncomfortable it is for a 73 year old man with abdominal pain is? Still waiting results of those tests BTW. They wanted to do a CT scan as well but had to wait until they open…8am since it’s still early morning. It’s now almost 11am & we’re told that he can do the scan now. After we finished, went back to emergency. When asked if he can get more meds, had to ask the nurse twice because she hasn’t given him the first time we asked, I was told by the same nurse that there was only 2 of them working and when she finally got around to give him his meds, she came charging in his room with a slight attitude. Then who the hell is everyone else that’s walking around in scrubs?? As far as I know, Halloween is in October not August! 😡

Be very careful and mean it. If love your friends and family don't take them to emergency room because might not hear or talk to them ever again. My ailing old father died emergency room and never had opportunity to speak, hear, or say goodbye to cruel, barbaric and deceitful world. Euthanize is real and illegal certain country, and if someone old, sick, and heath cannot be address. Right to died. I cried.

I waited for my MRI for so long and didn't try for baby yet because I wanted to have my MRI first. So they booked me in for 3:50pm but then when I arrived they said I should arrive 45mins early so they cancelled my appointment and asked me to rescheduled it. I was never told I had to arrived 45mins earlier at all. And if they want the patient to come in 45mins earlier why bother telling the patient their appointment is at 3:50pm? Just tell them it's at 3:15pm. This hospital need to review their method of patient scheduling. Clearly it's not working and it does not make sense. Now I won't be able to have my MRI until 2 years later because I'm not going to wait for a MRI again and postpone my pregnancy plan. And no, I never received any reminder calls at all.

I was visiting a relative on 2c I believe it was. And I overheard the way the secretary spoke to a patient on the intercom. Absolutely rude and unprofessional. She spoke as if the patient was a bother to her. And when I left I saw her on her phone scrolling down smiling and laughing. Is there no compassion and professionalism anymore? Hard to understand!!

We were here for the Emergency Department. Awaiting time and the total duration of the whole procedure was like 3 hours which I found is not bad for waiting duration. Doctor and Staff are super friendly and nice. Excellent customer services, treat patients very kind. Love all! And thank you for all your hard work. 👍

My gf went for a covid test, and was treated very terribly with the whole covid prosses, they where rude and not helpful when she had taken the park ticket receipt instead of her paid parking ticket to get out of the parked area and the only solution they gave her was to pay $20 dollars on top of the payment for the time she has been park in there paid parking or to go find it. On top of the there was no clear arrows on the floor to direct people from coming in and coming out and the lady that was serving her who was extremely rude just told her to look on the floor instead of just pointing to which way she should go through. avoid this place at all times they clearly hate what they do and they hate their jobs.

Absolutely horrible experience with Emerg today, Oct 31/20. My family and I have dealt with MSH Outpatient Mental Health for 10+ years and not once has Markham Stouffville let us down. Today however, they did. I understand due to covid you want to make sure people coming in have a real emergency and aren't just wasting doctor and nurses time when they can just go to a walk in clinic. However, when I asked to see a psychiatrist about my medication, I was told it was not urgent and to try a walk in. I explained to the person at the door that a walk in doctor refuses to handle my diagnosis and prescribe my medication and refers me back to the hospital. I have no family doctor. I'm not in crisis today, but I certainly will be if I can't get the medication I've been on for over 13 years in the next few days. The people at the front door need to listen better and if they're not sure, clarify before turning someone away that is requesting to see the on call psychiatrist. I may look fine to you, but mental illness is not visible. You think it's not an emergency. But the next time I come in may be an emergency and you could have prevented it. You're not the triage nurse, or the emergency doctor who makes the call. You're just some person at the door handling crowd control. You have no idea what is truly going on and for all you know you could have just rejected someone that may have been in crisis and was just too afraid to say it. It takes a lot of courage to seek help, and if that is how Emerg is handling patients asking for a psychiatrist, "Yeah, uh, sorry, this isn't an emergency, go somewhere else", I unfortunately have to suggest anyone else to go to a different Hospital. I am really disappointed in Markham, I truly am. I will be back in a few days for one last try, please, please let me see a psychiatrist so we can avoid the whole psychosis mania thing that will happen if I don't get my medication in time. It's just that simple.

They say if you don't say "please" for water they won't give it..and believe me they don't care if there is no access to the water (they say they are not servants [nor cashiers we don't say please to]. You can't say "can I have some water?" which is asking, not even demanding. Also, one nurse screams if you didn't read the sign and had the phone. Sorry, I believe in justice, and this is absolutely unacceptable. Doctors are a story there too: totally insensitive to patients' feelings, and only feel satisfied if they get the upper hand; mind you, they are very rude. If I work like the people I mentioned here anywhere else in this free country, I'd be terminated..ah well, i guess it is a melancholy there are such exceptions.

My daughter visited a doctor from Respiratory clinic. They were so nice even I accidentally missed the initial appointment and they reschedule it. They made it comfortable for my 2 year old and super clear to me. Thanks for your care and service. The only one thing I don't like about Markham Stouffvile is their auto-review calls. There is no way to replay the message in case of incorrect score. First you have to press any key and while doing it it's super easy to miss the q itself. ( I still have no idea what the q was and which score did I put)

Stuck! Leaving this clinic would be best. Very disappointed, long time registered senior patient. Covid sighted as an excuse for every thing. Front line staff ill informed, can be brisk or rude. Long phone waits, only like online bookings! Prefer telephone to in person appointments . No attention paid to keeping patient updated on basic/usual periodic tests. No follow up after emergency visit. Can no longer see a plus in being a patient here.

This is the best hospital in Ontario. I don’t care what anyone says. From the triage nurse to the nurse who took my ECG, to the ER doctor who took the time to listen to everything carefully and ask the right questions. Because of this hospital I was given answers but I was treated humanely as well. My only complaint is that took took hours to get a CT scan but it was late at night and even that is understandable.

My daughter was born Sept 2021 at this hospital. The team was amazing. Very competent, totally attentive to every need and I was extremely thankful to be in their hands for my first birthing experience. I wish I could remember the name of the incredible nurse who got me through one of the hardest times in my life. She is in the photo on the left. I felt like she was my angel. The women on the birthing floor were incredible. Thank you !

The worst experience ever. I brought my son (2,8 years old) with fever and terrible cough. 3 months ago he had exact same symptoms and ended up with pneumonia, so you can understand my concerns and why I wanted to go to the ER and not wait until Monday to see a family doctor. Long story short we spent 5 freaking hours there, waiting for the doctor to come and see us. My son was hungry entire time, had fever and I was not able to make him comfortable. And then they finally « explained » that purple room is the least urgent of all. So think twice before coming here.

Overworked staff makes mistakes and is less than willing to clear up miscommunication, oftentimes responding unprofessionally. You will need to contact them directly to get the information you need as the staff are unwilling to keep you informed in a timely manner.

The Plastics Clinic has the most unprofessional and rude frontline staff I've ever experienced (Alex and Wendy). When I spoke to the manager of the clinic (I assume his name was Francis) he sounded like he did not want to hear the incident that took place, and wasn't interested in understanding the concerns. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone, and I hope the hospital takes the necessary steps to deal with the staff at the front desk. The doctor's that work in that clinic are great, but they need better front desk staff.

I had an appointment for a mammogram and they said to arrive 45 minutes before to register which I did. I waited 30 minutes before registration answered the phone. The registration people never told me I need to get in line gor a hospital mask and was chased down by this rude lady who said I need to get in line to get a hospital mask. Then I got to the 2nd floor and I kid you not in a very small room there were 10 women waiting and I had to wait another 40 minutes in this crowded room. In these Covid-19 times if you want to catch Covid-19 go to Markham Stouffville Hospital

Recent additions complete to service the growing city of Markham and town of Stoufville. You'd think the reno would have included electronic signage to help people navigate inside but they relied on old fashioned signs. Regardless, it's now an even better health care facility. A tier 2 hospital for kids too.

I just wanted to talk about my experience on covid-19 testing; so frustrated and dont know what to do. I did my test on sep 29 at Markham Stouffville hospital and I am still waiting for my test result!! (Today is Oct 05th). I am in isolation for 7 days so far. Can not go to work or even socialize with my family. Intersting enough, now public health internet site for getting covid-19 test result is down. you can not connect to any one, just answering machine or on hold for hours! This is not my first time doing the test at this hospital and I noticed that it is getting worse. Seems they punishing you for going there to repeat the test!! I don know! They may say it is not their problem. They did the test, this is laboratory problem! My question is what should I do? Just saty in quarantine for 14 days? My doctor doesn't have clue! Anyone!! With regards, M.R

The first time I visited the hospital within minutes I had a greeter escort me to where I needed to be which was wonderful as I had no idea how to get there. This made by 1st impression a very good one. The outpatient mental health unit admin staff Destiny and Stephanie treat me like a friend. They had me check in quickly and always addressed me by my name. Abbiesha was my technician for 6 weeks of treatments. She was always so pleasant, compassionate, caring and accommodating. The experience because of these people made me feel like I was so important and welcomed. Thank you all!

One of the worst services. I tried calling them to confrim if i need an appointment and a health card to book an appointment as the website says no and google reviewers says yes. The lady talking was so rude/frustrated on something that she didnt even bothered to answer me properly and ordered me to book online and disconnected the call without answering any of my questions. If you are dealing to high volume calls you need to have patience. Highly disappointed.

My grandpa is terminally ill and the nurse Jen and nurse manager Jennifer in East 2 are uncompassionate and downright disrespectful. Even terminally ill patients only get two visitors per day. So I asked them if my grandpa passes tomorrow will they be held accountable? I told them they can talk to my lawyer who is on speed dial for this reason if they cannot follow the bylaw. Under paragraph 15 of subsection 3(1) of the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007, every resident who is dying or who is very ill has the right to have family and friends present 24 hours per day. A person visiting a very ill or palliative resident is an essential visitor under Directive #3. The home has discretion to determine how many essential visitors may visit a very ill or palliative resident. In exercising this discretion, the home should consider the physical/infrastructure characteristics of the home, its staffing availability, and the current status of the home with respect to personal protective equipment (PPE). This subsection should apply to all patients who are terminally ill. They muted my call and did not resolve my problem. Then to make it worst they sent four security guards to send me and my husband away. They treated us like we have no rights. I understand it is during Covid 19 but for your hospital to have such uncompassionate incompetent staff during a pandemic is shameful. If anything you should be more compassionate to those family who do not know when they will lose their loved one. Clearly Ontario needs to teach front line workers to be more compassionate!

My dad got sick. We send him this hospital and they put him on sleep and just hoped for him to get better. he died... I'm hearing from other family and friends their oxygen is tempered... Hearing that this hospital isn't a good place to send sick people at all... wish I knew before.. Worst decision of my family life sending him to this hospital.

This is a very lovely hospital, amazing/diligent staff with appropriate wait times and outstanding patient care. During my visit, Physician Morgenstern and Nurse Lisa were very kind, courteous, highly knowledgeable and skilled health professionals. I recommend 10/10.

I was at the emergency this afternoon, overall it wasn’t what I expected but it’s understandable. Majority of the hospitals in Ontario are on average 3 hours waiting. That’s exactly what happen today. If I recall, Canada health care was once top notched, now I don’t even know if they’re better than South American hospitals or Asia for that matter. I only met one great person there today and it was the old nurse in triage. She deserves a 10/10.

This is a huge hospital with huge parking areas around. The public parking is $16 per day or $4 per half hour. Staff are kind and helpful. This is accessible by viva York region bus.

I had a surgery on Monday jan 29, and was in the day surgery recovery room between the hours of let’s say, 1 ish to 4 ish. I wish I got my nurses name, I believe it was Tess? Anyways, she is an absolute delight and my boyfriend and I could not stop talking about how kind and caring she is. Wow. She literally made me feel so much better just by having the most caring and sweet attitude. This woman deserves a raise. If all nurses were like her, I would feel way more comfortable when in hospital settings. I could just tell she truly cared about her patients and she had a great sense of humour too, which is a bonus!

Amazing hospital, great staff here big though so easy to get lost, lol. My only issue on 1 occasion was I had a 5am MRI appt and even though I went to the exact section that emerg nurse directed me to go to, but there wasn't a soul around, I literally could've filmed myself skipping thru the whole dept if I wanted to and no one would've been the wiser! Lol. Fortunately the only person I did eventually find was a custodian, who actually unlocked a 'shortcut' door for me, which led to a short hallway leading exactly to where the MRI lab was! Bless you Mr. Custodian! That's why I only gave 4/5.

I am very happy to have a very honest review of my recent stay in the Markham Stouffville Hospital. Middle of August 2020 I had my TURP procedure performed by Dr. Sheikh. Six weeks gone by and I am very excited to say job well done. Everyone including Dr. Sheikh and rest of the team did an excellent job. Thank you once again for your kindness and guidance for my speedy recovery. God bless you all.

I gave birth to my baby in this hospital on May 2021 Labour department was good nurses are excellent. Dr. Chan deliver my baby it was a normal delivery and he was good. Nurse Fairy did a very good job also other nursers were very helpful. I'm highly disappointed about the postpartum unit. We stayed in a privet room. The bed was awful. I couldn't sleep on it or sit on sit comfortably. It made my back pain worst. Nursers were careless ( most of them) i stayed 24 hours and they didn't send my meals (they said they forgot) luckily there was a Tim. I highly recommend there breastfeeding clinic. Specially Rose and John. They are amazing and really helpful. This is my overall experiance and i need to say hospital was clean and tidy .

The wait time for screening, waiting for doctor and receiving the treatment was very reasonable. special thanks to Dr. F. Cheng. He was decisive, fast and caring.

I took my son to the ER last week Friday. I was so impressed with absolutely all the staff, doctors, and nurses. They were professional, courteous and we’re extremely thoughtful. My son ended up staying for 3 nights with serious health issues. I know the wait times are hard on us all, but we have wonderful people in our hospitals. I would drive hours if I had to, so I could go to MSH. One of the best hospitals. Thank you for all you do at MSH.

My Day Surgery Unit /Outpatient Procedure Suites experience: Once I stepped in the department, I knew right way I will be well take cared, the nurses are super friendly and supportive, also very patience to answer all your concerns! Scheduled surgery at 10:00am, went on around 10:30, anaesthesia put me on “vacation “within 10 seconds,1:15 woke up by nurse and offered some drinks, 2:00 pm out of the hospital. The whole procedure is so smooth and relaxing as long as you follow nurses instructions. Dr Renee Chouinard and her team are amazing, I’m so glad chose Markham stouffville, thanks you again for all the staff, nurses and physicians!

It was my first overnight visit to Markham Stouffville hospital, the nurses, technicians and doctors are all god send. All the nurses that I had starting from emerge are great. Yang and Tonia are two main people that dealt with in emergency are so nice. Even the triage nurse who was man had so much compassion and care in his tune that it bring tears to my eyes. Emergency doctor was also wonderful, especially with all the crowd, he never lost his patience with anyone. I didn’t hear anyone in the staff raise their voice, have a cold treatment or attitude towards me or anyone else. My nurse Terry and other girls in the department treated me so well. The doctor was so wonderful in the department, explained everything step by step to rule out any abnormalities. Sunny the ultrasound technician is the sweetest and most supportive. She explained everything so well and talked to me about the procedure to keep me clam. The overall experience is really eye opening compared to many other hospitals that I been to, I have no words but gratitude for these people. I would recommend everyone to choose this hospital as you first choice for emergency walk-in. Thanks you so much for everything!

Dr Douglas hang was an amazing emerg doctor. He explained everything step by step in layman’s terms. He was patient, informative and very sincere. For spending 9 hrs in emergency I knew I was safe leaving my mother-in-law in his capable hands! Kudos to an outstanding doctor. The nurses on the orthopaedic floor were o we the top in performance. We did not feel we were ever asking dumb questions. My mother-in-law loves the staff and excellent care they are giving her. Thank you so much.

I'm a community healthcare practitioner and was recently working on a very complicated discharge for a client who was at the Markham Stouffville Hospital. I would like to commend the staff at Markham Stouffville (particularly the Nurses in the ICU and the Social Workers on the crisis team) for their level of care, professionalism, advocacy and collaborative, interprofessional approach. This team based approach provides our clients with substantially better care outcomes. I commend Markham Stouffville Hospital for having such a great, communicative team.

We had the need to attend the ER on July 13th for my mother. From nurse Sammi, to Dr Jang, the porter and the X-ray and CT techs mom felt very well treated. Dr Jang was a consummate professional with a fabulous bedside manner. He was respectful, listened and responded and made her feel comfortable. We feel very fortunate to have a facility such as this in Markham.

My elderly mother is currently in palliative care here. The nurses, doctors, social workers, cleaning staff, have all been amazing. So thoughtful and compassionate. Also clear and informative. The hospital itself is lovely. Lots of natural light. A great link to the community centre, pool, and library via the second floor hallway. In the midst of my sadness I've walked down that hall and looked at all the laughing kids in the pool and older people committed to maintaining their health. The wall of plants, the great little cafe by the library, they've all helped me maintain my sanity at this difficult time. I'm thoroughly impressed with this hospital.

Well where do I start, this is my local hospital and it’s not a place you want to go, but when you need it, it’s amazing. I’ve been here many times for my kids and my parents and have always had a positive experience. I recognize that the wait times can be long depending on the issue. I’ve waited 5 hours once for an eye issue which no one was experienced with and I think I was better off self diagnosing but I needed the medication and I appreciate how rare this situation was. On the other hand when when my dad had heart issues he was admitted immediately and put at the front of the line. I think the critical cases always get priority and that’s why some of the other reviewers are complaining about wait times. We have free medical care here and overall I have to say it works pretty good. Recently our new born needed NICU care and things were amazing. Like life there will always be some people who work harder than others and some who are just naturally better at their jobs. I must say overall the experience was great and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back here if I ever need any of the services of this hospital again. A special thank you to the staff in the NICU!! I also must add a big bonus is the Ronald McDonald house for the family’s of new born a who need the ICU, this additional peaceful space is really great for stressed and exhausted parents with babies in ICU, the volunteers who work this place should also be appreciated for their dedication!

Went for Covid-19 Test at MSH. All seemed to be organized and wait time was about an hour. Staff were friendly and professional. However, they charged us $17.50 for parking, which is absurd! If the ON Gov't wants to reach their target of 20k tests per day, they should waive the outlandish hospital parking charges if you're only there for the Covid Test. Also, seems that the procedures differ from one hospital to the next. Some are walk-in, some require an appointment, some will only test if you have symptoms or suspected exposure to an infected person; Some swab both nostrils, while some do one nostril and one throat swab -- how can we rely on the results when they don't even do the same test across the board? MSH only gets 3 stars because they charged for parking for the Covid Test. No wonder they don't do drive-thru here...they would lose out on all that parking revenue. >(

The only quality service is that of the ER doctors (if you get a good one with actual bedside manner. Nurses usually very pleasant in the ER.) Once admitted prepare for hell. No one discusses your treatment plan, no one tells you why you’re receiving the medication you are and if you question it look out. I was very ill but coherent enough to ask questions about my care plan. The Dr. (Yee) took great offense. Had me locked in a unit even though I tested negative for Covid twice. When it was clear no one was going to tell me what the plan was or why the use of certain meds or lack of meds I had to take for other conditions, my husband had to be teleconferenced. Same non helpful attitude by Dr. The Staff are scared of him and he told me to sign out if I didn’t like his care or questioned his authority. Just tragic. Had to remove my own IV and was left to crawl/stagger off the unit due this Dr’s temper tantrum. Am now with a highly respected Dr at Sunnybrook as they left a dying woman to go it alone. Expect a law suit.

Dangerous handling of covid assessment center. 20 people standing around at 830 not being told where to line up. 9am hits and security guard says line up. Human nature causes people to argue, fight, and crowd for a line up. Staff between 8 and 9 just socializing while getting paid. It takes 30 seconds to ask to start a line up early to avoid this. I'm so disappointed

My wife had two hips replaced by Dr. Evan Watts; one before and one after Covid. The results were superlative. From first hearing from Michelle in Dr. Watts’ office, to attending joint school, pre-Op consultations, registration, the OR team, O/N and hospital care personnel, discharge planning and leaving with a porter from MSH, I could not give higher praise to the many names that would be on my list! I applaud and thank you all! Covid forced some adjustments but during both surgeries, the entire process and entire Markham Stouffville Hospital team was exemplary.

My boyfriend is in the inpatient department. I need to pay the nurse $600 a day, but the nurse will not help my boyfriend, a patient who has no strength and won't pour him a glass of water. When the patient can hardly sleep, he wakes up for some unimportant things, and calls through the door, so he can't see the nurse all day. The nurse doesn't put his dinner next to him when he is sleeping, After he woke up, he had no food and could only be hungry. He asked the nurse to help him find food. After looking for two hours, he only found a piece of biscuit which was not small. During these two hours, we used the hospital's communication telephone to contact the staff of the hospital, but there was no response. If the patient was in danger today and there was no response from the staff, he must have passed away, but no one would know that it was the result of the hospital's absence without leave. A patient who can't move by himself will not help simply to wipe his body, but all by himself. I don't know what the meaning of the existence of nurses in the hospital is at $600. Is the patient's money so easy to earn? It's Monday. There's no doctor. There's no nurse. There was no infusion and no medicine. We don't know what it means to treat here?

First time at this hospital tonight. Even though I didnt get a definate answer to my problem, still had a good experience. Nice reception, nurses, and doctor, even tho it's currently Covid times. Took a total of 2 hours and I was out of there which was nice. Only giving 4 stars because I didnt get a solution to.my problem only recommended to see my dermatologist. Luckily I have an appointment in 2 days with her but had that not been the case I probably would have been upset. All in all hospital is clean and looks new which is a plus.

Huge shout out to a few people out there-Dr Hui Jue Zhang and her staff at the high risk clinic, i cannot thank the nurses at the labour and delivery unit enough, the entire birth was simply managed by the nurses, Dr Arnold and Dr Neil Chang with such smoothness. Even after the birth, the nurses and the lactation consultants are absolutely brilliant. Thank you to Kaitlyn, Selena, Hamna, Erin, Kaya, Joyce and one more person who i am not able to recollect the name of-another lactation consultant with greenish eyes and straight hair. Left Speechless.... I had to visit the ER last week, my visit from start to finish was exceptional. I have had many visits to MSH in the past, for family, friends, myself as well, but this experience just left me totally convinced that MSH is going in the right direction with respect to its care and respect towards its patients. From the triage nurse to the ER Doctor (Dr. Ryan Aalders), the care, respect, wait timing, the solutions provided were tremendous. Especially Dr. Aalders genuine care, knowledge, professionalism, quick action, and thorough assessment was truly appreciated. Despite the extreme pain I was in, his support and quick and complete resolution was truly unforgettable. I have never seen a Doctor give such service at MSH as Dr. Aalders did. Truly amazed. What was more amazing, he called back a few days later to check up on me and make sure everything was okay. Was left speechless. I hope and pray that all of MSH's staff can continue this great service, I do appreciate the great work our front line staff is doing and its challenges. But a smile, a bit of extra care, a bit of encouragement goes a very long way.... The follow up call was like the cherry on the cake, I know we can't ask everyone to do that, but that's when as a Patient and potential donor, gets convinced that MSH needs financial support to continue providing excellent services to its patient. Count me in for this. My sincere appreciation to Dr. Aalders and his Team. Thank you. A very happy and pain free patient. Vazir Khan.

I took my husband to the ER at MSH earlier in the year, he had been feeling weak for over a year and despite a barrage of tests arranged by his doctor, he had no diagnosis and was still feeling off. At MSH the clinicians were thorough and able to determine what the issue was - a GI tumour (GIST). Though it was sizeable, it was not easy to find, and only became clear when they did a second CT scan. The surgeon removed the tumour successfully and his prognosis is excellent. I had heard great things about MSH and instead of going to our local hospital I decided to go here instead - can't tell you how happy we are about that. Since then visits to the oncology clinic are handled very efficiently and attentively, staff are professional, friendly and don't let anything fall through the cracks. Highly recommended.

Came for a COVID test today and found MSH staff to be super fast and very pleasant. They are to be commended for their professionalism, energy and friendliness, and for making the testing process as efficient as possible. MSH has a thing or two to teach other GTA assessment centres about how to run a COVID testing site. At my last test at a Scarborough hospital assessment centre, I had to wait two hours in line outside, and this was with an "appointment"! At MSH I was in and out in 15 minutes during the lunch hour. Kudos to MSH for setting the bar high for the COVID testing process. I hope other health networks and hospitals do everyone a favour and look into applying MSH's procedures to their own assessment centres. Bravo, Markham Stouffville Hospital!

My experience here has been nothing short of fantastic. Probably one of the best times at a hospital one could hope for, especially going through Emerge. The staff have been amazing and kind. The process is slow and tedious but I appreciate all the effort they've put in to making me feel as comfortable as possible. I hope I don't have to come back but I have no problem if I need to. Thank you to all the doctors, nurses and supporting staff during this time.

Used MSH's ER service and follow-up appointments several times way before COVID - nothing to complain about. #1) Why is everyone complaining about the $17.50 - seriously, it's a hospital parking (out of how many people who complained about the $17.50 is in desperate need of the $17.50). #2) The waiting time @ MSH is way shorter than what I've seen on the news; compared to 5 or 6 hours of way - would you want to wait longer or just pay the $17.50.

Giving 5 stars to Dr Brill - my angel. He basically saved my life and I 'll be forever grateful! The surgery department is clean and super organized. Staff is amazing! If you are looking for a great surgeon who really care about you - look no further. Dr Brill is the best doctor in Ontario so far, and I've seen a lot in the last few years

I've been blessed to have the attending ER physician, Dr. Popa, look after me, numerous times, as well as my Mom. A more dedicated, compassionate, knowledgeable and professional doctor, I have yet to come across. She has been instrumental in extending much needed care and support that had gone unattended for years by others, not to mention saving our lives. To her and the nurses who worked relentlessly on our behalf, I extend my deepest gratitude! Thank you!

Rec'd very good care .... both from doctors, nurses & other support staff. Food a 7 out of 10. However there's one huge problem that needs to be addressed and that's the frosted windows in patients rooms. Who suggested this very detrimental feature and why?? For patients who are bed bound and unable to walk plus no visitors allowed during these pandemic times, it can be very depressing not being able to see out. It can make one feel quite isolated as well. To be able to see cars, birds, weather, people etc does wonders for patients mental well being. Even staff can't supply a reason or purpose. Would suggest the hospital administration address this important issue asap. By the way I'm not the only one who finds it most annoying.

Had my first baby here in March and the staff at Markham Stouffville were amazing and from the day I came in for my induction, to my C-section, to being released, my experience was exceptional. Thank you so much for taking good care of me.

Been to the emergency twice in the last few months. I can say Markham Stouffville handles the process well. I been to many hospitals in the GTA, but this hospital is one of the best. Don't have to wait to long and the process from screening, triage and registration is quick. And the call you after few days to check in on you and provide next steps.

My experience in general at the Markham Stouffville Hospital has been quite positive the few times I have been there. My last visit, particularly at the ER, was positive. The staff was doing their best to see all the patients despite being short-staffed amid the pandemic. Some staff were more polite than that others but cannot blame them. You can see they are dealing with many different patients with different personalities. I cannot say enough positive things about the staff that looked after my concerns. One particular doctor made the most difference. Dr. Jatinder Kaur Juss. She was exceptional in getting all my symptoms, medical history and listening to my issues and concerns. You would hope all doctors are like her, but in my experience, she is the first doctor who took the time to hear out all the concerns and symptoms.

I don't know what the signs and reactions happen to everyone after the second injection. All I know is that I fell ill that day, with fever, vomiting, weakness... I believe that the physical condition after being really infected with COVID-19 virus will be more serious, painful and closer to death than the response of the vaccine. In order not to experience the same pain again, please complete the two-dose vaccination task! Give you and your family more health protection!Hospitals need to complete an appointment online for COVID-19 testing and related vaccinations, and go to the designated place of the hospital according to the time to complete the project. ⚠️NO WALK-IN ⚠️

I was originally admitted for kidney stones, I was 38 weeks pregnant and healthy otherwise. The Midwife ward that did my assessment was fantastic to say the least, I was comfortable and taken care of quickly. I moved to the OB delivery ward and stayed with them for 4 days while the urologist and OB came up with a plan to induce. The doctors all kept me well I formed and the nurses went over and above to ensure I was as comfortable as possible. Nurse Nicole and her "twin" were on shift while I delivered and being a FTM they coached me through every step. Even Erin at reception ensured I stayed hydrated and fed! I couldn't recommend this hospital more to anyone looking to deliver. The OB's and nursing staff are exceptional and its truly a hospital that is well equipped with the right staff and resources to meet all your needs! We delivered a healthy girl on October 18th!

My experience was really great at this hospital, I was there for a procedure and both nurses Sonia and Andrew were amazing, caring polite and respectful unlike nurses in Southlake hospital! It's far from my home but it's well worth it! Hospital was clean and well managed!

Super amazing experience dealing with the midwife clinic and also any person we had any contact with, even random friendly hospital staff in the elevators and in the hallways! Our daughter and my wife had excellent care and we couldn't have had a better experience overall. Thank you!

I was at the Emergency on 17th Feb. and I would like to express my gratitude to all I was in contact with, Nair, Dr. Mitelman, the girl who took my blood, and even the guy who wheeled me into the wash room., and maybe one I may have left out. The care was amazing. I was in for 7 hours, waiting and watching others in the ER and I can't say enough but admire the patience and attitudes of the medical staff, never a harsh word to patients' complaints. Truly we are lucky to have MSH. My sincere thanks to all.

My young daughter recently had a minor surgery at Markham Stouffville. The entire staff, from the registration person at the front door to the many nurses and doctors we worked with, were absolutely wonderful. It is very clear everyone is trying their best to offer a good experience. Everyone was so attentive, understanding, thorough. Their extra efforts to be kind and human were what we all need in this world. I’d give more than 5 stars if I could. Thanks Markham Stouffville.

Our family can not be more thankful to all the amazing staffs who helped my dad on his final days. The services were exceptional with utmost care, kindness and love. The ER, paramedics and especially the doctors, day nurses and night nurses in the ICU department. We want you to know you were there for our family throughout and from the bottom of our hearts we like to thank you all. You listened and informed us when we needed help the most. Many thanks and we hope to give back any way we can. THANK-YOU. Pham family Feb 2023

Absolutely wonderful hospital staff. Hands down the best hospital I have been in. All the staff were helpful and caring. Had to attend the ER and in a matter of 4 hours I had seen the Dr., had a CT scan done, had results of CT scan and was referred to a surgeon. Every staff member I interacted with was wonderful. Thanks MSH for making this as least stressful as possible.

Being originally from Montreal, I dread emergency visits due to the long hours you are expected to wait (10-12 hours before a doctor sees you) However, this was my first visit to a hospital in Ontario and I am very taken back by the quality of service I was given from Triage to the nurses and doctor that saw me. I’ve never seen a whole staff of people be so positive and kind and I was very impressed with how quickly they took me in today (within 5 mins) Everyone’s reassurance that they were taking care of me at Markham Stouffville truly made me feel more at ease. Thank you to the nurse especially! I wish I got their name, who thoroughly explained every step that needed to be done, without failing to smile and making me comfortable. Thank you, thank you, thank you 🙏🏾🫶🏾

Visited the ER on 6/14/23. Was really surprised at the urgency with which I was treated. I saw two doctors, had a CT scan, was given meds, and treated so well every step of the way. I also had to remark to one of the nurses how the associates really seemed to enjoy working there. Morale is high. She said it's a family atmosphere and it really is. If I knew anyone's name I would name-drop them. The nurse in the Blue care station was so pleasant and caring. And I think that was the best cup of ice water I ever had :D Anyways, thanks for taking care of my infected jaw, molar, mouth. -Thomas M.

This hospital is amazing and the service is phenomenal, I've been there three times now and the whole staff has been courteous and professional. Right from entering the hospital to leaving. There is a gentleman you see as soon as you walk in , Claudio . What an amazing guy! He was very helpful ,and courteous. Thank you Claudio for your excellent service. Every hospital should have someone like you. When I got in, the nurses , I wish I knew their names, you know who you are. They were so helpful and attended to me right away, and yes the hospital was busy. As for the doctor, another awesome guy, Dr. Paul Jacobson, thank you as well for being so caring , kind and listening to all my problems, and of course the excellent service. Other hospitals should take note . Thank you all once again Sincerely Ivan Golwala

I've had a number of surgeries here. All with excellent results. The Doctor's and Nurses are fantastic with the exception of the nurses in the Emergency Department. One Nurse in particular was exceptionally horrible. If you're an in-patient bring your own food. The meals are inedible.

The Extremely terrible experience I ever been through since I was born. Don’t give hope to those “doctors”, they won’t save you until you’re gonna die. Btw, the waiting time is extremely long. Their doctor already know my girlfriend been through pain and tell me that my girlfriend need to inject painkillers, but guess what? Nearly 1hr nobody just come around and help her. She was painful all the time, why nobody wanna save her? Is that counted as hospital?

Every time I visit this hospital I have bad experience. The emergency staff is extremely rude and the wait times are at minimum 4-5 hours just to get past the Registration and Triage. My son had extreme muscle spasm and had difficulty sitting or standing for too long and throughout this time he was made to sit on a wheelchair causing more pain. Upon complaining he was given an abuprofin to reduce the pain. They had no beds available to let him lie down. I just wish we never have to visit this hospital ever.

A relative was in the ICU and was well treated by all staff. There’s a large waiting room outside the ICU if several people come to visit. Unfortunately it’s not the case at 1E Rehabilitation/Stroke unit. You’re only allowed 2 people to visit a time, with no waiting available, and only a 2 seat bench available over 70 feet away from the doors. Bit of a walk for the people with walking difficulties. I saw beds being stored along the hallway where they could place chairs in stead. 2 elderly ladies were sitting on the heater vents by the window waiting for their turn to see their loved one.

👍👍 I did a lot of research and traveled from outside Canada to go to Shouldice and I highly recommend it. The first day is a check-in and examination by the surgeon, which was relatively quick. Then you are taken to your room which you share with one other person. There are two floors with dedicated nu...
