Quaint French bistro, amazing service, good food. Came here for dinner and got: - Housemade bread and cultured butter: Bread was soft and pillowy, butter was nondescript. - Escargot: Probably my favourite dish of the whole meal. I love how the escargot was wrapped in veggies, and how strong the garlic butter tasre was. - Steak Frites: Steak was pretty good but unremarkable. Fries were on the salty side. - Poached Cod: Delicately cooked, sublime flavours, decent size. A winner of a dish. - Fromage: One of the best soft cheeses I've had, perfectly paired with a blueberry compote. - Pot de Creme: Soft biscuit, creme, strawberries, meringue. A bit too sweet, but how can you not like that? If you're in the mood for an upscale casual dinner, this is the place for you.

This is a French restaurant that does not cater to vegans. If you are vegan stay the heck away from this place. They don’t accommodate anyone or anything. But this is French cuisine after all. So, atmosphere is amazing and cozy. Great for date night or hanging out with friends. The service is good and attentive. The servers are good and they know the menu very well. The food was also very good according to my non-vegan friends. They get 4 stars because of poor accessibility and for not being accommodating to people with special dietary requirements. Also the drinks were not as good as they used to be according to regulars.

Nice evening here. Food was good, but did not meet the expectations a 4.8 star rating led me to believe. Service was smooth, not intrusive. Music a shade loud. Dessert selections limited. Felt rushed to leave when the server handed us our coats when it was obvious we were still chatting.

Greta Solomon’s is one of the most sweet little jewel boxes of a restaurant in Toronto. It’s very French and makes no apologies for this, nor should it. Under the helm of chef Matt Cowan the food, always delicious has if possible upper the ante. Everything was perfectly presented by great staff, wine on point. Back to the food, huge flavours bursting with the best ingredients. Perfect portion sizes and every hot hot and cold cold. If you go with 4 you can actually eat the entire menu and I can’t wait to do this. I can’t wait to return. Please follow @joannasable on instagram

Stunning small bistro with that somehow improves upon some tried and true classic French dishes. First of all, their French onion soup and duck confit are probably the best I’ve ever had. The soup used croutons baked in duck fat and a combination of duck and beef stock as opposed to just traditionally beef. It is executed to perfection, with half of the crouton still crispy and smothered in Gruyère while the bottom side is soaked with the incredible soup. The duck confit is taken to another level by battering it and deep frying it in duck fat, then glazing it with maple. It’s a twist that you wouldn’t expect and it’s spectacular. The lentils it rests on are ridiculously flavourful and helps to cut some of the richness of the duck. This is a must order. By the time we got the gnocchi, we were reasonably full but it too, is spectacular- pan fried, unbelievably soft, and resting on a velvety cream sauce with toasted pine nuts for texture. The salad is a welcome break from all the richness and the escargots were excellent as well. Their wine menu is comprehensive to say the least and all quite reasonably priced actually. They also have a bottle shop that you can drop in to just pick up bottles without dining in. We dined in on a night where all proceeds went to the Ukrainian Red Cross, which is quite an admirable initiative by the team here. Service was super friendly, attentive, and really we couldn’t ask for a better dining experience. One word of warning is that the space is quite small and the dining room can seem a bit cramped. For two, we dined at the bar which might be the better option.

Greta Solomon’s was a delightful Sunday night dinner with my date. Service was incredibly warm and inviting from beginning to end. Their pate and caviar blinis were a decadent start to our dinner and I found my eyelids involuntarily closing after each bite. Entree portions were pleasantly generous and despite opting for a lighter protein I found myself full in the best way. My date had the duck and the single bite I had of that did not disappoint; it was a rich and beautifully textured! I need to return to partake in their dessert offerings next time. As a long time Instagram follower of theirs, the experience did not disappoint and I cannot wait to find an occasion to go back.

What an absolute gem of a place! I’ve been wanting to visit this cozy restaurant for sometime and I can say with absolute conviction that it was well worth the wait! Darlene and the rest of her staff are down to earth and made quite a lasting impression. We had a few appetizers; the chicken liver pate, the escargot, and olives. Lucky there was left over bread from the escargots to help us finish the very generous portion of the pate! For the main, we had the duck confit and poached cod. The duck may be one of the best I’ve had outside of France! We were in a bit of a hurry and didn’t get a chance to try the desserts but we’ll definitely be back to rectify that!

Absolutely divine spot filled with atmosphere in a quaint neighbourhood. The French cuisine was delicious and the wine bottles very reasonably priced. Very friendly and welcoming staff. I had the fried duck confit and my husband had the steak and frites. Will definitely return.

TLDR. Food was excellent, service was not only lacking but just plain rude. -- This used to be one of my favourite spots in Leslieville. The food was outstanding but, after our recent visit, all we could focus on after that dinner and the next morning was the awful service we received. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we experienced questionable hospitality. The owner had asked whether we would like to keep coats to be kept at the table or hung elsewhere. I made a comment that we could keep our coats on the extra chair, given that were at a table of 4 and there were 3 of us. She replied in a passive-aggressive way about it being fine if we wanted our coats stepped over during the evening. I was taken aback but didn't want to overthink it at the start of the night. The ongoing poor service continued when the server was taking our order and with several instances during the evening when we ordered extra drinks. The lasting impression was at the end when it came time to pay the bill. When the server came by to give us the bill, she leaned into the person we were treating to dinner. I let her know that I was the one paying for the bill and to bring the bill and machine over to me. She looked at me outraged that I wanted to stop her from reading the bill including the amount to the whole table and proceeded to go over the bill as if to prove a point. I have never had a bill read to the entire table before. Most of all, I didn't appreciate that she wasn't sensitive to my request. I'm not sure I want to go back no matter how good the food was.

Outstanding little restaurant! The space is incredibly small and intimate, and the food and service is amazing. We booked spontaneous as we were craving classic French and we are SO glad we did. Everything was 10/10. Highly recommend!

This was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. Friendly atmosphere, great food and delicious cocktails. My favourite was the chicken liver mouse but all dishes were fantastic (onion soup, steak and the gnocchis). Reservation needed if you go on the weekend. It was busy.

I had the coq au Vin and my husband had the Gretalicious special. The chicken was succulent but scarce on the plate. It consisted of one very small chicken thigh and curiously a few cubes of potato, pieces of carrot and a big hunk of baguette (not in fact Julia Child's take on the dish if you read her recipe from Mastering the Art of French Cooking). Given the extensive and expensive wine list I'm wondering why the restaurant chose to cheap out on the dish ($35 to my mind is over-priced for what came to the table) when typically restaurants make their profits from wine/drinks (we did have a bottle of Bordeaux). All in all a pleasant dinner but underwhelming. Service was very good but the music was on the loud side. Desserts were tiny. I'm not a fan of restaurants that serve really big portions but Greta needs to find the sweet spot between too big and too small and looking stingy.

This place is an exquisite escape into a world of heavenly pleasures. Each dish, divine. My mind was blown by the delights that come from such a tiny tiny kitchen. It speaks to the detailed thought that goes into the preparation and care prior. This place is A MUST GO. The staff, the owner, the details...just so lovely. I have had the joy of dining at many many establishments world wide and this place is magical.

One of my favourite restaurants in the city hands down! Great food, attentive service and exceptional atmosphere. Perfect for a special occasion or hidden patio cocktails. I’m always coming back to see what new and delicious dishes are on the menu.

Yum! What a great place to enjoy a delicious meal! Book ahead! There is not a lot of seating here. Service was impeccable! A must try if you're in the neighborhood.

Lovey bistro. An intimate, cozy setting with delicious small menu. The wine list is extensive and includes various price ranges. Can’t wait to be back!
