Massive portions. Had to wait 45min to get a table here. If I had to wait again, I wouldn't come back. It's nothing special, not too flavourful. It's just sloppy red sauce Italian-American food. Everything tastes the same lol. Probably because they use the same sauce for everything. Nothing tasted bad. It's just not something I'd wait an hour for. Prices are really good for what you get.

Such an amazing Italian spot! Atmosphere is authentic and low key — like your dining in grandma’s kitchen. The food is incredible. The drinks are well made and the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend for great pasta & Italian food. Go early to avoid a long wait!

I drove seven hours to eat their great food and let me tell you it was well worth it. The spaghetti was 100 percent fresh and authentic. The sauce was homemade abd delicous. The atmosphere was very cool and the people who worked their were into their jobs and loving it. I met one of the owners which was very nice. I would make that seven hour just to eat that wonderful food

Visited here for lunch with some friends, and got a table after 45 minutes. After we sat down we were told that our foods will not be coming at the same time, regardless on whatever we order, as a group of 3, we wanted to eat together instead of our friends eating and us watching them and the opposite. The place is very small and noisy, the tables are very close together and its kinda uncomfortable and not a great experience. We ordered the garlic bread, rigatoni, spaghetti and the vegan spaghetti. The service was good, the staff were always running around but they were friendly and nice. The spaghetti tasted nice, it was very different from the spaghetti you eat from other italian restaurant. It tasted homemade and authentic. The portions are absolutely huge and you will definitely have leftovers. The other problem for us was that they only accepted cash and debit. Overall the food was good but the dining experience wasn’t pleasant. You should just go there eat and come back.

This is one of our favourite restos in the city, so it's hard to know where to begin in singing its praises. There's the straight-up delicious, unpretentious food - always on point and always served in portions that guarantee take-away for another meal at home (and trust us, you'll enjoy the leftovers almost as much as the first servings!). Or there's the wine list: simple but appropriate to the space and food. Nothing fancy here, but fit to purpose, inexpensive and - best of all - served not in wine glasses but in everyday tumblers that you've seen wine served in in so many Italian mobster movies. Perfect! But best of all is the vibe. This small space - replete with the just right red and white checked table cloths - hums with the friendly, efficient energy of the Sugo team and the food joy of the customers. This is a vibrant place that celebrates the best of Italian food and "giola viva". Those of us who have come to love this place - and the people who work there - are drawn back like a moth to a flame. If you've not been yet, do yourself a favour and drop by sometime, You'll be glad you did.

I've been wanting to try this spot for awhile! Finally ventured out on a Friday evening, but as anticipated..very busy!! Decided to opt out for take out instead and did not regret it!! There is a good reason this place is ALWAYS busy and has a wait. While the ambiance of dining in was missing, the taste definitely made up for it. We ordered the garlic bread, calamari, spaghetti and vegetarian lasagna! All very delicious and authentic, as described by many others. Garlic bread - buttery and large slices! Calamari - crisp, tasty and will order again! Spaghetti - delicious and heavy portion..was sad there was no meatballs (could have added their special meatball for $10) but sauce was meaty! Vegetarian lasagna - several delicious layers of pasta, cheese and sauce! Can't wait to be back! The location is a bit difficult to park near but if you hop on the subway, it's right across Lansdowne! Be sure to go early, or anticipate a wait..but it is well worth it!

The restaurant is quite small, so expect to wait for a table unless you’re lucky and get in right away. We just sat at the little side bar and didn’t mind since it was really loud in the restaurant so we were able to hear eachother. The food was so good, hot and fresh. Price is pretty high for Italian food. One drink, splitting the calamari and then the rigatoni pasta was $47 each. You can definitely get cheaper good Italian elsewhere in Toronto. The menu is also very small so not much variety, the only dish that stood out was the rigatoni and it was phenomenal. All things considered, I’d come back again to get the same meal (calamari and rigatoni)!

I love this Italian neighborhood spot! The crew is always smiling and happy to serve you. The food is great, account for large portion and order some extra to bring home :) One of the best tiramisu I ate outside Italy! Don’t miss it!

Arrived 10mins before open, did not expect a line of people already waiting. But understandable why, it's delicious!! Service and staff are great, super friendly and helpful. Also liked that the menu is small, food is well done and intentional, everything tastes great. Portions are massive! The rigatoni is their classic, must try to get. Well cooked, well flavored. We also super enjoyed the burrata on top of the fried dough. Nice mix of fresh and crisp textures combined with the creamy cheese Had no space for tiramisu but it looked absolutely amazing, guess we'll just have to go back

Love this place and will definitely be coming back soon. The food is simple but done really well, and it’s hearty and filling. The portion sizes are pretty big, so you definitely don’t need to order a lot. We got way too much food for two people…but we’re so glad we got to try all these dishes! Loved everything we ordered, but my favourites were the calamari, spaghetti, chicken parm, and the tiramisu. The staff are also friendly and helpful and create such a happy environment in the restaurant!

What a wonderful, cozy place(Italian Restaurant). The food is exceptional with delicious 😋 tomato sauce. All the options are great but the one I loved the most was the plate that comes with chicken. Great service. Very polite, attentive and fun group of waiting stuff. The soundtracks are great creating a very cool ambience. The food tastes 😋 even better. Don't miss out on this one.

Sugo is my favourite/go to restaurant in Toronto! My husband, son and I have been coming here for years, and it is always a hit! Would highly suggest the caprese salad, calamari, meatball, garlic bread, spaghetti, as well as the rigatoni. Portions are great, we always order a few things and share family style. The staff welcomes you and treats you like family, no matter if it's your first time or your umpteenth time there. We have gotten take out (when their indoor dining was closed) - but please go in person if you have the opportunity! We love this local spot, and our friends we have brought have enjoyed their Sugo experience too! (Attached pics are from 3 different occasions)

This is the best Italian place in Toronto. The prices are so cheap compared to others and the quantity and quality of the food is exceptional. Tastes like heaven, people is extremely nice, and is the best idea if you want to have a date or celebrate and special occasion without spending all your savings… Truly a Sugo lover, I would even work there if I could. Take my word, just go and be impressed

The vibe here is great. Service is super down to earth and friendly. Would say that if you’re a student or not looking to break the bank, going with a friend and sharing one menu option is the perfect way to go! The portion sizes are so large that if you were not to share, you’ll definitely have some yummy leftovers to take home. But but be ready for a wait- typically an hour or more. We had a two hour wait which wasn’t so bad as the area has lots to see and do in the meantime. One of the best Italian options downtown!

I like the vibe of restaurant. It's cute and cozy. All the menus were decent, it was a bit salty since we order 3 menus of tomato base dishes. But it was good to try! You wanna check their menu ahead since they didn't have pizzas and pesto pasta.

  • 5/5 Janice T. 5 months ago on Google
Tasty pastas, large portions, reasonable prices, and friendly service. I especially loved the rigatoni pesto cream special. The ricotta gnocchi was very good. I'll definitely come back for more comfort food. The music was too loud though (a fun place to catch up with a friend, but not the best spot for a first date). No reservations. Luckily we only waited for 15 minutes to get a table for two when we went on a Sunday night at 5:30 pm (the usual wait is 1-2 hours). Payment by debit card or cash only.

I was so excited to try SUGO for the first time because of all the hype surrounding this restaurant. Not to mention the mouth watering photos of their food I've seen online. Although the portions are big and the prices are really fair (hard to find a restaurant with reasonable prices these days) the food was a bit disappointing. The rigatoni had a weird taste to it almost as if it was too salty or way too much cream was added. All in all felt super heavy. The chicken parm was good but midway through our meal my boyfriend and I both felt sick and our stomachs hurt forcing us to leave early. Following this morning I ate some leftovers to see if it really was the food that made me sick and again my stomach is immediately in pain. Probably won't be back and wouldn't wait in a line for this place again. I think there's tons of places in the city that have better Italian food where the dishes aren't drenched in sauce or cheese... overall service was good and people friendly and the restaurant itself has a good ambience. I would strongly disagree with reviews saying it is the best Italian food in the city though.

To get an extra level excitement on many levels you need to visit here high on THC. This will amplify your experience multiple times as loud noise with fast service mixed with delicious food are great mix. It was a blast last night. Need to come again here to get more dishes. Yes pizza dough is not left 72 hrs but they still taste amazing. Very nice appetizers to choose from. Two thumbs up

Would've loved to rate it 5 stars because the food is really very good but didn't like the constant rushing of getting orders in. Not sure if that's how it is all the time as it was my first time visiting this place. I know this place has a lot of hype and there's always a line up to get in but we couldn't even get few minutes to just sit and relax without constantly being asked about the next order. And we went around 3 PM and there wasnt a line up outside. The staff was friendly definitely and they helped us out with our orders, so no complaints regarding that. It's definitely a must try place if you're in Toronto, as the food is very good.

Went for lunch today right at opening, with a group of five, were told that normally they don't accommodate groups that large but were still able to seat us. Restaurant was full within minutes. We were served quickly and our server was very nice. The experience in the restaurant overall felt a bit rushed. For apps, we ordered the mozza sticks (very nice crisp, good mozzarella pull), burrata bruschetta (well seasoned, crispy but fluffy dough), the meatball (tasty sauce but underwhelming meatball, very homogenous texture, not particularly flavourful, spongy). For entrees we had the rigatoni (sauce was good, not great, noodles were average), gnocchi (very pillowy texture gnocchi, again, good sauce), spaghetti pesto cream with burrata (while the burrata added nice creaminess, the dish felt under-seasoned and overall the flavour was underwhelming). The tiramisu for dessert was lovely and could easily be shared between multiple people. It was our first time here after hearing lots about this restaurant, and we were glad we came, but certainly would not wait in line for it.

I love the ambiance, service, and food at Sugo. The place was smaller, and you're sitting so close to other people. Our server was great and gave awesome recommendations. We ordered the Burrata bruschetta, gnocchi with sugo, and tiramisu. Everything tasted great. Next time, I would like to come back and get their spaghetti. It was stacked!!

Food is amazing! We’ve been here a few times and we were always super impressed!! The menu is simple, but yet everything is delicious! Our go to orders is the Caesar salad (a must!), the rigatoni, the calamari and the mozzarella sticks but I’m sure everything on their menu is delicious! Can’t forgot to mention their portion sizes are huuuuge and, you’ll be sure to have some leftovers! The only downside is that they don’t take reservations, so be prepared for a little wait especially during peak times!!! An alternative is to do take out, which we’ve also done and it was great!

Super delicious! The sauce is creamy and has perfect consistency. We also had daily special. The tiramisu is a perfect balance of sweet and bitter. Not heavy but really tasty. The service is so nice and friendly. Crazy portion.

Fortunate enough to live around the corner from the place. I go about twice a month. I've had the entire menu. Everything is delicious. Pasta portions are enormous, you will take home a regular sized portion if you're not sharing. 4 cheese lasagna on Wednesdays is a can't miss (see pic). Plus when you come, ask about all the boxing art on the walls and what these guys do for the boxing community. Really awesome guys, really awesome food, really awesome place.

I had high expectations coming here from previous reviews. We had to wait close to 2 hours just to get in. Service was fantastic, but the food was average. Portions are huge and highly recommend to share. I do not recommend the wine at all. I would try again, but would order to go for the comfort of eating at home.

Oh my God!! I don't even know where to start. This is honestly my FAVORITE place in Toronto. I had the eggplant parm cutlet, and it's easily the best thing I've ever had in my life. The pastas we got were amazing as well. Luckily, we got to try the Spaghetti Pesto Cream pasta since it was a special for the day, and we had the Pomodoro. Both amazing, plenty of food for two people. We were in a food coma for HOURS after. Additionally, we went on a Saturday around 12 pm and only had to wait 20 minutes! 10/10 would recommend. I want to go back now.

First Sugo experience: they do not take reservations but they will take your name and number to call you when your table is ready. Our wait time on a Saturday at 4pm was one hour. Service was quick and friendly. Music was great. It is a bit loud inside which we didn’t mind but it’s not a quiet eat. If you want something a little less loud, the patio is your best option. Food was amazing. We had the pesto cream spaghetti, chicken parmigiana and caesar salad which was delicious. The drink we had was an Amaretto sour - also delicious. Drink prices are reasonable, food prices might seem a bit high for pasta however they make it up with their portion size. 10/10 experience, we will be back. I definitely recommend!

Food was amazing, I’ve came 2 other times but couldn’t go in because the wait was just too insane. Managed to get a table today though and was super pleased. What I love about Sugo: large portions, tasty, affordability and overall vibe. It is SO FUN dining here. The food is good, a bit on the salty side but I don't mind it. My husband and I eat a lot, and we love leftovers, so for the price and quality Sugo works well for us. It's not fine dining so don't expect the best of best quality. It's comfort Italian - NY style without the NY accents. Also, I love their tiramisu, and their burrata bruschetta - YUM! If it wasn't for the long waits, we'd go more often!

overall great experience at Sugo, we knew it’s a popular spot so we arrived early to make sure we didn’t have to lineup for a long time. The service was great and the staff was friendly, wait times for the food were within the standard. We ordered the calamari, which has pricey but the portions were generous, great flavours and seasoning. For mains we ordered the rigatoni, and the Sugo platter which had spaghetti and veal, both were very delicious and with great portions which was great considering the price. Great spot for American style Italian food, overall I would recommend if you like causal settings, big portions and great tasting food. Nothing pretentious about this spot, and it’s walk-in only so plan accordingly. Only downside was that they no longer offer the deal on their Sugo platter!

Great portion sizes and good home style Italian food. The service was fantastic and decent value for the meal. Expect to wait for a long time to get a table here as it's popular. To me, it didn't stand out compared to other Italian restaurants. Good experience overall. Get the sparkling red wine, it was amazing.

A friend of mine picked this place out and with high expectations of Italian food because I have a Nonna myself, I was hoping for something absolutely delicious to say the least. First of all THE PORTIONS ARE HUGE. I didn’t think everything would be so big. Most of the dishes have cheese incorporated into the breading. Now with that being said I got the veal sandwich. It was so tasty. HUGE. But tasty. I think I had two bites left but I tapped out. The garlic bread and calamari was sooo good. The garlic bread was perfection <3. The tiramisu was one of the best ever and with the espresso martini hit the spot (very strong drink if you not used to it). Over all I have got to say that it was great being here and it’s a place that you got to try once to fall in love with the flavours here. The atmosphere was very packed. It’s cramped on the inside, old and diner like which was very cosy.

  • 4/5 sanjana 5 months ago on Google
personally think the pasta is overrated and the flavours could be better, BUT the tiramisu is so so good it’s worth coming back for!! Go just to try the sweet deliciousness if nothing else!! Service is good too but always try to get a reservation ahead since it’s usually packed and wait times can be over an hour.

  • 5/5 Destinee C. 5 months ago on Google
Really long wait & no reservations, so just prepare for that but honestly some of the best pasta i’ve ever had. Sauce tastes really authentic & homemade while the pasta was cooked perfectly. Female servers were really sweet too! Had to have the tiramisu & it is definitely a must try here if you love dessert! great prices with huge portions

Excellent food! The place fills up fast, so get there early. Sugo has become my go-to Italian spot every couple months for predictably delicious food. Portions are giant and make great left overs for the next day. Highly recommend.

Love this place, they have the best pasta I have tried here in Toronto and the service is really good, staff is always with a smile. You should really give it a chance but take in consideration that wait time is usually 1 and a half hour but is definitely worth it. I suggest that you share meals because they are really well served.

  • 5/5 Tiffany 5 months ago on Google
Food is delicious, very large portions and great value. We love the rigatoni and Caesar salad! If you’re trying to get into Sugo but there’s a long wait, try Bar Sugo since their menus are similar!

Service was great, vibe was amazing, and the food was the best! Come hungry (but you probably will be cause the wait is long to get seated on busy nights). Can't wait to try the pizza next door!

Honestly hands down my favourite Italian restaurant. The vibe is great and the food/service is even better. The portion sizes and taste of fresh ingredients is wonderful. I was there for the pasta but the star of the show was the Caesar salad. I never thought I would be so addicted to their salad, as it set the bar too high whenever I eat caesar salads now.

  • 4/5 Ron C. 9 months ago on Google
Excellent food and service. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because they only take cash or a Canadian debit card (something to be aware of if coming from the US). I had to walk half a kilometer to find a working atm to get cash, as the 2 nearby were out of order. For this reason we probably won't be back on our next trip to Toronto.

Happened to come across sugo earlier in the year on my way to the value village and I’m so glad I did!! I usually get the spaghetti but I have tried a couple of their appetizers and they really never disappoint. It’s the kind of food you can tell a lot of effort has been put it into and that’s so appreciated. If you want a homey meal that is sooooo worth the price come here!!! Delicious food, big portions and very friendly staff.

Great vibe. Cozy restaurant. Chicken parm and rose sauce rigatoni was delish. Saucy pasta. Crispy and extra cheesy cutlet. Bruschetta burrata appetizer was just ok. The bruschetta topping was a bit under seasoned. Wished the pizza dough was grilled. Needed a bit of texture/crunch.

  • 4/5 Veronica T. 6 months ago on Google
Food is good, although to be honest, not worth a long wait for, especially considering the abundance of good Italian restaurants in the city. However, the waiters were great and the highlight of the night, encouraging us to stuff our faces lol. Overall, I would come back. Oh and please do share the food with the table, portions are huge.

  • 5/5 SK 7 months ago on Google
Sugo just always hits the spot. Every time I have the rigatoni, caesar, and calamari... It just feels like the first time <3 I usually share dishes with my husband but whenever we come here we strictly our own food, its too good to share! Warm and welcoming atmosphere, friendly service, decently priced dishes - I always leave this place happy and full.

The food is very good. Fresh ingredients and good portions! The best pasta place until now. The only thing is that the plates from IG are not longer available in the actual menu. So take that in consideration. But still a great place! I went with my wife and I spent around 90 cad for 2 plates, 1 dessert, 1 coffee, and 2 Brios. 100% recommended 👍

Whether it’s dining in or taking out you can’t really go wrong! If you can secure a spot inside though I recommend it, really adds to the experience to have a nice sit down with some spaghetti. The food is delicious, reasonably priced, comes in abundance (I usually have a little leftover for lunch the next day), and is played excellently. The staff is wonderful and very attentive, they seem to always remember me which is very thoughtful. Long live SUGO 🤌🍝

They don’t take reservations and the wait can take a while but it’s well worth the wait. The spaghetti and rigatoni are my favourite. I’m not the biggest fan of their gnocchi though. If you’re going with two people, I highly recommend ordering one pasta dish with multiple side dishes to share. Also, save room for dessert because the tiramisu is amazing. They only take cash or debit.

good place but very tight in space if my hubby with me he be hard to sit because he is a big boy . Wait was maybe 25 Min so not bad. Portions are definitely huge and really fresh and hot. Not a 5 star for my personal taste in some dishes and small things like I notice tables not really cleaned just cleared out I am kinda picky with that. Our main food came first then salad then garlic bread. Food was great but pasta just for me a little to salty again maybe was just me. There was no substitutions so I could not Get spaghetti rose but they did have a rose pasta and I got that. For dessert I had the tiramisu the taste was OK but a little too strong on the ingredients didn’t taste quite right I also took one home and it wasn’t quite welcomed. Not really kid friendly so no change room for baby in bathroom or space for stroller I left mine in car. But I had to rush to go change baby in my car. It’s a nice lunch place.

Great spot for Italian eats from the same folks at Sugo right next door, except it's much more spacious and it additionally serves pizza options on top the regular menu. I personally really enjoyed the Bitondo Pizza, especially because of the crumbled meatball topping. Friendly and lively staff as usual. Definitely a good neighborhood recommend.

We got there at 6:50pm on a Friday night and it was packed naturally. We were told the wait was 45 min but it ended up being twice that for just us two. We were sat outside and the host told us we could actually order from both sides of the restaurant and out server did not know that. She gave a bit of an attitude when we told her that. Food came out pretty quick since we ordered fast. And it was DELICIOUS. Perhaps not worth the wait exactly but really good. The Gigi pizza was overpriced imo but everything is these days. The calamari was perfect.

Hands down the best pizza I've ever had. 10/10. Crust was a little dry, as is typical with a wood fired pizza. Would appreciate a dipping sauce in the box. Service was impeccable. Long wait but that's how you know it was going to be good. The place was packed.
