Joseph Brant is the most orderless and unprofessional hospital I've ever been to. My experience echoes the other reviews. It was appalling and humiliating to say the least. The old lady in glasses at the registration table was EXTREMELY RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL and MEAN SPIRITED. She's not there to help, she's there to BULLY the helpless. There's also ZERO sense of medical and personal privacy in their heads. Extremely unprofessional and disrespectful handling patients' medical and personal information. How can a patient supposed to trust a health care institution like this?! It was hard to believe this is a real hospital instead of some sort of amateur hoaxing clinic. The young nurses/technicians can be nice and professional, but it was hard to tell if some of the other staff were really working there or just having a day trip with friends in the hospital. This is supposed to be a health care setting that deals with the most vulnerable people, you're literally playing with people's lives with such unprofessional and disqualified staffing.

This hospital and staff never fail to disappoint me. For many years of going to this hospital Iā€™ve walked out with no help or results Every. Single. Time. Last night I was there. Showed up to the emergency room seizing up, couldnā€™t breathe or talk and they did absolutely nothing. I sat in the waiting room felt like I was dying for over an hour and still havenā€™t even received the hospital bracelet yet. Instead they were playing on their phones. I watched a guy walk out with his head split bleeding. Itā€™s really disappointing to see the people we depend on when weā€™re in emergencies do nothing for us. If it was someone they knew or cared about they would be taking action immediately. I highly recommend if your in an emergency go to a different hospital, even if itā€™s a further drive because theyā€™ll do nothing for you anyways at least at another hospital youā€™ll have a chance. Iā€™m glad to know that I pay taxes to get shut down and pushed away. Joseph Brant do better.

I came to emergency room, and to tell my emergency health issue to the triage personal, no privacy at all, it is done outside in front of people in the waiting area, and the nurse is talking to patient in the loud speaker. When i have been asked to give a urine sample, they gave me a container without a label or number or name of the patient. I had to leave it in a box on a table. How can they know which sample belong to which patient? No organization at all. They put on my wrist a label with name and date of birth, but without any date or time of my visit at all. How come an important document like this without date and time? I do not understand. In asking me about the health issue, they said "why did you visit last time to the emergency room of Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital? In a way like if this is a crime committed! When are you going to improve and use common sense in dealing with patient and tax payers? We the people of Burlington deserve better. Please. Thank you for the opportunity to write this comments and observations.

Worst ER I have seen, the nurses show zero compassion, waiting time is endless, no proper process for taking patients in is in place, not clean, every time I go thereā€™s blood on the floor which is not cleaned right away. People are left to die, some bleeding some in pain & no one cares. Twice now that I go & I wait hours even before I make it to Triage to get my information taken & i end up leaving.

My Mom was first housed in the south tower / floor 5 for an orthopedic issue. Nice room, clean and great nursing staff. She was subsequently moved to the north tower / floor 6 for continuing care. She was now in a ward room and it is crowded and she describes it as ā€œdisgustingā€ compared to her experience in the south tower. Sad to hear this from an 87 year old lady. The north environment will surely delay her recovery.

I am extremely disappointed and humiliated by the experience I had coming into Joseph Brant hospital today. My father had a bicycle accident and was brought in oct 1 to the emergency room with a dislocated shoulder bruises all over his body and with excruciating pain, unfortunately my father was not carrying his health card with him aside from his driver License, the registration clerk that took him in was absolutely unprofessional and rude telling us that we didnā€™t show up in the system and that she called the minister and couldnā€™t find my father, she kept insisting that we needed to tell the truth about us not being Canadian citizens and that we needed to give her a credit card before she even attended to his needs, she came into the waiting room and loudly kept insisting that we werenā€™t Canadian citizens in front of everybody, she has no discretion about the matter and didnā€™t respect us as citizens. We have been Canadian citizens for over 20 years in this country and to be treated like that was not acceptable and should not be done to nobody. She prioritized money over the well being of my father. We have never been treated in no hospital like this and I truly do believe that this is a matter that should be addressed someone in the medical field who is attending sick people should not feel the way mr and my father felt today. A hospital should feel like a relief and a safe space, and this was not my experience today, we felt discriminated and embarrassed, in a situation that was already stressful and scary.

Worst ER Iā€™ve ever seen. The nurses in ER are horrible and have been for quite some time. They show zero compassion and understanding as to the patients and families of those patients who are panicked under the circumstances. A nurse told my husband I was very rude to her because I expressed my humongous concern that they discharged my husband even though he was high as a kite from the drugs they had given him. And they still allowed him to drive home? What is wrong with these people? Totally irresponsible. Numerous horror stories from this ER from past experiences. And I mean horror stories. They should be investigated!!!

After a surprise ruptured appendix and almost dying... I spent 5 days, 4 check ups, and one surgery at this hospital. During my stay I was taken care of by the most caring, understanding, and exceptional doctors, nurses, and hospital staff. They made me laugh, they comforted me, and a couple of them even held my hand. I am quite literally still alive because of them... And I guess the view wasnā€™t bad either!

Dangerously incompetent. First off, the nurses working IN emerge, past triage are great, compassionate and HUMAN. As for the recently graduated doctor, not so much. I Spent 8 hours there and I had to go to another hospital because the doctor literally did NOTHING. Barely talked to me for more than a few seconds, didn't examine my leg, and the ultrasound tech was barely functional and didn't go over the area that I said was hurting. I'm genuinely convinced that it's because I was there with my boyfriend, because other patients did not receive this lack of treatment. I've had discriminatory doctors before so it wouldn't surprise me.

Had the greatest if you can say at the ER today. Great people, hard working. Taking care of the sick. Me included. Nurses were awesome, triage fast and friendly. Finally ER, Dr MacDonald great knowledgeable, patient and offer a solution. A referral. Something I couldn't get from my GP who I've known for 20+yrs. Thank you Joe Brant Hospital

Based on my own experience and after reading some of the former reviews, I can only believe that this hospital has a racist issue. I had an almost identical experience like Salo MG in the former review - disrespectful and unprofessional registration clerk abusing and yelling out my personal information in front of everyone because I'm not Canadian. The woman at the registration desk was intentionally, repeatedly and loudly questioning my personal information, immigrant status and citizenship in front of everyone, despite my efforts to explain it. In front of everyone! Everyone in the large waiting area could hear my health and personal information and her questioning of them. Imagine that! I'm non white, don't speak perfect English, and I'm not officially a citizen yet. But with insurance or cash, I've never been given a hard time to get treated in a clinic or hospital. No one should ever be humiliated in a health care place because of their citizenship or skin colour! We're all human. Being non white or non citizen is not a crime! I'm trembling writing these down. Shame on you, Joseph Brant hospital. Shame on you.

Our dear friend was brought to this hospital in a bus accident last month. He was taken into surgery here with a very quick intervention. He received very good care in the hospital for 3 weeks. Doctors and nurses took care of him very closely and applied various treatments for his iolesmwai as soon as possible. During his treatment, we visited the hospital twice after the operation. It is a really clean hospital and great attention is paid to the pandemic rules. Everywhere is clean. It is very valuable for us to have such a hospital and experienced doctors, helpful nurses and nurses in our city. I would like to thank all the staff. Our friend is 83 years old and is in much better condition now.

Worst Experience of my life this past week. My wife and I went in to deliver my son and from the get go they were cold and not very welcoming. The hospital itself is not clean. The nurses and doctors have zero bed side manor. The bathroom light was broken when we received our room. I asked the nurse if she could send someone up so my wife wouldnā€™t have to use her cell phone to see. To our surprise the next day I asked again and this gentleman came up said it was falling apart. What a headache from the beginning to the end. Patient care has gone out the window. Placed a call to patient relations I have been waiting days for a Call back. I have had better customer service from a McDonaldā€™s.

Been here 4 hours so far came in with chest pain. Not one soul offered something for the pain. Or came to check on me. How is is acceptable to let someone suffer with chest pain. In what world is that humane. This was a waste of time. If I was gonna suffer I would of suffered at home and just got test done at my doctor's office. Lesson learned!

Great experience I havenā€™t been there myself but my brother was born there and my sister had a allergic reaction to walnuts so she also had to go for treatment. My sister had a great view of the water and the nurses who treated her were amazing to her. As well as the nurses who treated my mom and brother. I waited in the waiting room to see my brother and I had a great experience they had a play room for my cousin and a tv for the adults to watch. Overall I love this hospitality in this hospital great experience.

If there was an option for 0 stars I would have chosen that. I have been to this emergency department many times and I have never had the best experiences but this visit definitely was the worst. What happened to treating the elderly with compassion and respect. My Mom is living in long term care because she needs 24 hour supervision. She was taken by ambulance and placed in a wheelchair in a cubicle, she is unable to do anything on her own. When it was time to discharge her I mentioned again that she would need patient transport...she was wheeled into the waiting room and left. At midnight I went up to the desk clerk and asked if she was able to contact anyone and I was flatly told yes, they will be here at 438am, I asked if she was suppose to sit in the waiting room alone until they came and she answered ..yes and put her head back down. I hope her mother never suffers from dementia, Parkinson's and many other ailments at 88 years old..I stayed with my Mom and found her a way back to the center...to top everything we were given the wrong prescription. Definitely no shortage of staff but a shortage of compassion

My 3 yr old neice had an Adenoidectomy here. The Dr. Justin Khetani was extremely professional gave us proper advice on what to do and to expect. Directions for pre and post surgery were all explained and all questions regarding the surgery were answered aswell. The procedure was on time and stayed for the night, next morning she was released. The nursing staff who assisted were very caring and professional, knew exactly how to take care of children during these kind of times. Even tho with everything going on with the Nurses union, It is such a relief to know that people who actually care are in this profession but sad to see our Govt cannot take care of these great folks who dedicate their lives to care for Humanity ! #istandwithnurses

I was here for day surgery today. From the moment I walked in the door everything was absolutely perfect. The staff were the friendliest ever. They were organized and couldnā€™t do enough for me. The doctors were just as friendly. My doctor is Dr.Bibr and she is the best. She is a very caring and compassionate person and I am very lucky to be in her care. I trust that she is looking out for me completely. The hospital itself was so clean and bright. It is certainly the nicest I have ever been in. All in all, my stay in the Joseph Brant Hospital was excellent: Thank you everyone.

I can't tell you the amount of gratitude I have for the medical staff at this hospital. Great surgeons, amazing nurses, cleaning staff, porters etc. Thank you all so much. My only complaint is that when I was waiting in a room at the end of the ER hallway? There was a doctor that was walking back and forth swearing a lot to himself, and when he was on the phone with another doctor he was laughing about an elderly lady not being able to drink her colon prep because she couldn't stop vomiting anything she was ingesting pretty much. I wish I had his name, it's concerning to hear a doctor speak (and laugh!) about something like that.

Today, the staff in the ER department is wonderful šŸŒŸšŸŒŸšŸŒŸšŸŒŸšŸŒŸ However, this newly renovated hospital is designed for the Burlington community's future needs. The ER is overcrowded (very poorly designed waiting rooms) NO patience privacy is respected when one is called into the registry window, being asked publicly to share ones medical condition. I am hopeful that the hospital will be able to make the necessary adjustments.

If I could give this hospital a negative 100 I would. I don't trust them. I had my colon removed a while ago but because of the trama that I received from the fifth floor was so bad that it has made me not be able to be admitted to the hospital again. Because when it came to my recovery, I was in the hospital for 2 weeks and with in those 2 weeks my care and treatment was absolutely horrible, 1. when I told my nurse that I was feeling extremely nauseous and told her that I was going to throw up, she basically she ill be fine, and when I did end up throwing up a other nurse literally went out came back and threw new bed sheets and jammies on top of me and told me to clean myself up and walked out of my room; a few day later I had a pic put in and it it would not stop bleeding nor would they clean it properly then I had to get my stomach pumped and when the machine was full I'd call to the nurses they would turn my call button off and not only that they said they only had 1 other stomach pumping machine in the whole hospital so due to my surgery I had I need up having my own feeses go back into me, I went to go and try to go the bathroom on my own and when I couldn't get up I used the call button to get help a nurse came in and when I asked her for help she literally threw the chair at me that was on the others side of the room telling me just to sit then. On top of that the nurses told my doctor that I have been nothing but a hassle and was being a a difficult patient. Little do they know that not only do I have pictures of everything but I also have video recordings of it. Because of my stay there I went into a severe depression and had 3 nervous breakdowns. That was a few years ago. Today I went to the emergency room today with serious issues just to be told that there is nothing that they can do for me and sent me home so now I'm at home lying down and dealing with alot of abdominal pain dizziness and throwing up as well as a headache. Already on a day to day I suffer from severe depression and anxiety and to do that I can't leave my home but today I thought that I really should go to the hospital because my condition is getting worse but now and after today at this point I just give up. Thank you for read this. I'm so sorry if you were treated in anyway than you deserve from this hospital. Please dont not go there becaus most likely your not going to be taken care of properly or you'll be treated like your crazy. I tried to add pictures and video but for some reason I can't download them on here

We visited the emergency care unit yesterday and we cannot emphasize the amazing experience we had :) It is a clean and organized hospital! A big thank you to the emergency staff on call as they were receptive & responsive to any questions/concerns we had and were very communicative. The care unit has comparatively short wait times and an efficient patient triage! Even though our initial examination was inconclusive, they invited specialists to review and found our underlying problem! Our concerns were not sidelined and the whole team did a thorough job in providing the best care!

My son was brought to the ER via ambulance from an incident that happened at school. When my husband and I arrived, and we were asked to wear a mask, my husband replied that he has an exemption. This was met with hostility and refusal to honour his exemption. He attempted to show his exemption and a security guard was called over. My husband became upset over this. We were already distraught over our sonā€™s admission to the ER and we had no information yet about his well being. My husband objected to security being necessary and pointed out that his exemption was honoured in the very same ER 2 months ago when I was in the ER for treatment of a dislocated shoulder. The guard responded that exemptions arenā€™t ever honoured, and that itā€™s been this way for 3 years now, though his statement contradicts what we experienced in our last recent visit. A second guard was called over for extra intimidation at this point, which was absolutely outrageous and unnecessary. Itā€™s disgusting behaviour from staff who should have some sensitivity training for heightened situations such as what occurs in an ER where parents are just trying to get to their sick child, among other scenarios. This ER needs to get all of their staff on the same page about what their policy actually is on mask exemptions. Honouring them at some times and denying them at others, depending on whoā€™s on staff at the time, is confusing and is bound to create heightened tension and even conflict. I plan on reporting this incident to the hospital and whatever other authorities I can to make sure things like this donā€™t happen again. Itā€™s unacceptable.

Iā€™ve had two scheduled ultra sounds here and an ER visit for some stitches. Each time has been fast and the service was efficient, with my ER visit being able to be looked after in a timely matter. I think if itā€™s actually an emergency, theyā€™ll prioritize you -which makes sense as it is an ER- non emergency youā€™ll wait longer, but thatā€™s understandable given needs, staffing issues you keep hearing about, etc. Iā€™d recommend you not hesitate to seek care here.

Triage is the absolute rudest nurses Iā€™ve ever seen. They are rude to the nicest patients that walk in even before the patient says a single word. They automatically yell, are condescending and have a very disrespectful tone. Their tone alone is stressful and would cause your blood pressure to go up from frustration. Not something you need in an emergency. Iā€™m supposed to be giving birth here in a few weeks and this is NOT what you need when you walk in with an emergency. I had an earlier miscarriage here when the nurse asked me to stop talking and sit down and wait my turn. (When in fact it was my turn) Avoid this hospital if you can and go elsewhere. I find it very ironic that they have a sign up to tell people to be respectful when the first nurse you see is the rudest person ever before youā€™ve even had a chance to be polite and respectful.

Just went to the ER because my daughter suffered an injury and was unable to move her arm. She was triaged quickly and saw a doctor shortly after. The DR diagnosed the injury as an elbow subluxation and performed a manoeuvre to correct the injury. Within minutes my daughter had regained full mobility of her arm and was running around the ER as if nothing had happened. The entire journey took less than an hour. The staff we were friendly and professional. I wish the parking didnā€™t cost so much, but other than that it was a great experience. Thank You to everyone at the hospital for working so hard every day.

Went to have an ear infection assessed this evening at around 5:45pm. The air quality in the waiting room did not seem good, I often felt hot because I was not well. I asked the young girl at the triage where they take your info and that terrible speaker system did not do any justice for my ear!!! I asked fory health card back as I was going to go to the hospital closest to me in Grimsby. She asked for my name and threw my card without even asking if there was anything wrong! Maybe finding more compassionate individuals to work for the hospital would be beneficial for people who don't want to be there to begin with!

Last week, we took our 3 month old son to ER due to respiratory distress and staff worked right away to help him. He was intubated here and wisked away to McMaster. I was impressed with the doctors and nurses for their swift action which I believe saved his life. They did an impeccable job and I am so grateful for the staff who provided reassurance and comfort. We want to also thank all the staff in pediatric unit who took great care of him until discharge. God bless you all

Last month I was admitted to Joseph Brant hospital for the surgery. During my 4days stay in ICU and emergency I was pleasantly surprised with my experience with all the staff. All the Doctors, Nurses and other staffs were very helpful and they took good care of me. Even though there is extreme shortages of the Nursing staff, all the Nurses were very cheerful, helpful and compassionate. I am very happy and grateful to all of you. Please keep up the good work.

My father-in-law has been at JBH for a week now and is receiving excellent care, despite severe staffing shortages and over stretched medical teams. The environment is surprisingly calm, clean, spacious and bright, compared to other hospitals I've seen. It's plain to see that staff are trying their absolute best, which may mean a brisk bedside manner due to demand, but the care is excellent, attentive and precise. My only concern is the weekend coverage which is sparse to say the least due to staffing shortages so more volunteers are needed!

Had a really good experience with my 1st delivery here with my baby girl. The nurses and doctors in the labour and maternal ward are really good. Special thanks and kudos to my nurse Sarah! She was so kind and sweet and such a gem of a person very calm and helpful demenour helped with my smooth delivery experience. Also we got a private room available which made the experience worth it. My only concern was please provide a small bed for the support person who has to stay overnight the recliner chair is very uncomfortable for someone who has to stay overnight or even more than 48 hours.

Absolutely rude staff at emergency. After surgery, with complications, nobody is willing to help and just keeps shuffling you into someone else while being extremely rude. Not to mention, we are sent home with absolutely no instructions for aftercare and no numbers to call! The attitude is insanely rude and uncalled for. Especially when I am using please and thank you and being so kind while having an emergency. This isn't a one time incident either. It's been the experience every single time. Not to mention that they don't even ask for consent when doing things to you such as placing an IV, etc. I've tried to avoid leaving a negative review because I'm thankful for a hospital in general, but the treatment never improves and it's ridiculous!

I am so thankful for this hospital. I and my family members ended up here by chance, my father had a heart attack. I am so thankful it was close to Joseph Brant, I have terrible experiences with other hospitals. But the doctors here, the nurses and staff here. The paramedic kept him alive long enough for the staff here to save his life. The doctor was a bit cold at the start because they thought he wouldnā€™t make it. But he did. He was in a coma for months and they cared for him. My family was there the whole time and they had to see us cry and ask for their help and so many great people work here. Best experience Iā€™ve had in a hospital in years. Not sure why this hospital is different. The only issues I had was my fathers items being stolen and a nurse who would ignore his complaints when he woke up from a coma theyā€™d leave him just sitting staring at a wall and he canā€™t move or call me or anyone for help. My sister thankfully was able to go in to see him and find another nurse but it was terrible he was left like that for hours when he should have been back in bed. It was terrible. Also when he was in the ICU and anyone could just come in, my fathers family who we never talked to him but found out were just showing up and going in and then weā€™d show up and canā€™t get in because two/three of them are inside. This was not okay, he was not close with them, thereā€™s so many of them and my mother is crying because she canā€™t see him because these strangers are inside. It felt unsafe. However the nurse was kind enough to post a list we made of who can come in and tried to instruct nurses on who was allowed as best as they could. It helped, not perfect but helped. Other complaints were just these people are overworked and nurses are under paid and not tended to and watching them and listening to them, theyā€™re dealing with so much. If theyā€™re not okay how can they help people everyday? We need them taken care of so we as patients can be taken care of. I hope this hospital keeps growing and continuing to improve, theyā€™re doing great so far. I wish I had taken every single name down so I could thank them personally, but I was so overwhelmed. I hope they are all well.

I recently went in for a tonsillectomy. From pre OP to post OP the staff were amazing. While in pre OP I was visited by everyone who was going to be in the operating room with me. They all went over my relevant medical history which made me feel comfortable to know they were all taking part in getting the information directly from me. The new wing is beautiful. Everything was comfortable and clean. My only criticism is the post OP sheet they gave me to take home. It was a poor copy and had some information that could have been included but wasn't. After being in such a professional setting I feel they deserve better literature. But overall an amazing staff and a great experience from beginning to end. I hope not to have to undergo any future surgeries but if I do I would hope it is at that hospital.

I have had the unfortunate experience to be treated at Jo Brant over the last couple of months (because I was ill). But very fortunate to have been treated by the terrific staff there. Everyone I met was pleasant, helpful efficient in their roles. My latest visit was today for a Bronchoscopy and it went off flawlessly with very helpful nurses and a doctor who explained all aspects of the procedure. Many thanks to all who I met today, you are all terrific people.

I went to emergency waited 6 hours to be told nothing was wrong. Was very upset no privacy at all when the doctor was talking to me or other people I could hear there whole conversation as well as they could hear my conversation & results. Ended up going to another emergency 2 days later for the same thing. They found out I had a cyst behind my knee that ruptured. They were very courteous & private I was in a room & they closed the door so only myself & the doctor were only hearing the conversation. Will never ever go to Joseph Brant again

The new hospital is really nice. However, the staff, particularly the nurses are very rude. The doctor was way off on his diagnosis. Itā€™s frightening what our health care system is turning in it. It you have a serious condition, I wouldnā€™t go to Joseph Brant. Itā€™s a real shame. Update: this is a great hospital. I shouldnā€™t have left a 1 star review because of a bad mannered nurse. I came here in a lot of pain after putting a screw bit into my hand at work. Despite the covid situation, they took me in the ER, fixed my hand and saved me from a lot of pain. We owe a lot of thanks to our health care workers. They truly are the real heroā€™s that save lives. Oh and both my kids were born here so that also counts for something. āœŒļø

We had a great experience with dr. Hugh and her wonderful team of doctors and nurses and hospital staff that attended to us. They were all very warm and welcoming individuals and they did a fantastic job getting us through tonsil removal.

Referred to emerg by my physician. Prompt and efficient check in and triage. Nurses were caring and professional. Within two hours I had been assessed, had bloodwork, saw a doctor and was placed in bed with i.v. in comfortable private room in emerg. Outstanding care.

My mother was admitted to the emergency on Tuesday morning at 8:30, and had tests done and her broken leg reset and casted all by noon. The personnel was great during her stay in emerg for the day. Once transferred up to a room on 5S, the nursing continued to be great. She was there another three days and all but one meal was very good. She still has her appetite and welcomed the variety in the meals.

My 94 year old Mom was admitted to JBH with a virus which turned into pneumonia. She went from the ER to 7 South and then to 4 North. She was treated with respect and concern from every nurse and staff member we met. Not only was Mom treated well so were we as the family. All our questions were answered and we never felt like we were a bother. One day I was sitting by Mom's bedside as she slept. A nurse came in and ask me if I needed anything. That meant the world to me. An example of the compassion throughout Mom's healing journey. I am thankful to say that Mom is going home and feeling great. Thank you to Dr. T. Harrison, nurses, PSW's , rehabilitation team and all the staff at Joseph Brant Hospital. I hope our paths don't cross again but if they do I feel comforted knowing what wonderful staff this hospital has and despite not all areas being updated and new the staff makes up for it . Their positive vibes and true compassion is apparent on all floors. Thank you for doing what you do! Keep up the good work!

I just had surgery at this hospital. It was a pretty good experience. Most of the doctors and nurses were very nice. There was one rude nurse who was being sassy and told me I was "overwhelming them" with requests after I just woke up from surgery and needed to pee, take pain meds, and drink some water. I called them out on it and told them they were being mean and rude. The nurse was cool after that and wheeled me into recovery. Most of the people there were amazing, helpful and funny

Worst emergency service I have ever been, clearly racist and discrimination against people they service. Do yourselves a favour donā€™t go there for any emergencies. Very rude and careless staff, during my waiting time at the emergency I probably learned more about the girls private life thru their gossip. I think you have to be either shot or have an heart attack to get service in this place! Sad! Never going back.

I had surgery done at Joseph Brant and I must say it was as good an experience as one could have when getting a procedure done. Outstanding nurses, Doctors and staff. They explained everything so I understood about the procedure. Beautiful private room overlooking the Lake. Very calming.

I am only giving this 1 star, and that one star is purely for the PA that was working with one of the doctors. She saved the score. Although, the care, and the wait....absolutely terrible. I go in with unbearable nausea, triaged right away, registered right away, bloodwork right away, seeing the PA AND DOCTOR right away, this was all in the first hour and i was very pleased. They sent me for an ultrasound, again, this happened within the first hour which i was impressed with. BUT afterwords i waited almost 5 hours for the results. was told my results were in by a nurse and i was just waiting for the doctor to come talk to me, an hour and a half later still haven't been spoken too, BUT a women with a broken wrist that had to see a surgeon and that came after me was gone with her results and a cast before me, a women that got her ultrasound right after i did, got her results basically right away and was sent home....theres me sitting there still waiting. Went to ask how long it would be...was told im actually up for re-assessment....which i was im getting the results that i would good to go. Watched a doctor stand and talk to a nurse about his trip to the cottage for half an hour, heard the nurses talking about how SLOW it was, yet i was still there waiting for results FOR 5 HOURS. The best part about it all....(sarcasm) is that i was in for extreme nausea BUT the gave me pain meds that made me more nauseous and nothing for my nausea at all. Honestly it will be awhile until i decide to visit this ER again, i will drive over to oakville and deal with the 30 minute drive for a better experience.

Ohh where do I even start. In may of 2023 I had miscarried at 13 weeks and 2 days. I was given 3 options from the OB in my doctors office two of which were inhumane and the other was a D&C. I chose that thinking it was better for my mental health and so my angel didnā€™t have to go down the toilet. Well first my surgery was scheduled for the the 12th of may. I didnā€™t eat or drink and showed up only to be told after getting in gown that they couldnā€™t do it. Doctor looked like he just didnā€™t want to for whatever reason. Then I got a call later that day from a not so sweet doctor saying they could do it the following day. Which was the 13th of may I was there waiting from the afternoon till 12:30AM I was finally brought into surgery which at that point was May 14th Motherā€™s Day. To make things worse I get out of surgery the nurse was horrible could tell she hated her job. I kept asking for my FiancĆ© but she kept telling me I couldnā€™t see anyone and that I needed to keep this mask on my face. I told her I couldnā€™t breathe properly with it on she kept putting it back on and I had to keep taking it off to breathe, I Did not feel like there was any oxygen coming through at all. She also mentioned I had needed a blood transfusion because I lost a lot of blood during surgery which if you look up is uncommon to have excessive bleeding after a procedure like that. So I woke up on Motherā€™s Day not only recovering from that nightmare but grieving my baby and now every other Motherā€™s Day to come that I will never be able to enjoy because the staff at this hospital is not only terrible but I donā€™t think a single one of them knows how to be sympathetic. And to top it all off they sent me a 310$ bill to pay for the surgery. Ohh and thereā€™s more. So a couple months goes by Iā€™m still bleeding the OB insists itā€™s all normal and will go away on its own and when it didnā€™t she offered a prescription it was one of the inhumane options from the beginning of all this. She said it would get the ā€œ retained product ā€œ as they called it out. Did that and it did nothing. So before I had gone back to the OB for those pills I went to another hospital because I ended up passing a fairly large clot. And I wanted to know what was going on with my body and i kept being told it was normal. the ED doctor had to use a speculum to open and try to clear out what she could but said I may need another surgery (D&C ) I cried so hard because it was the worst thing Iā€™ve ever experienced and I still hadnā€™t even recovered from the first one, it was supposed to be over. Well sure enough that ED doctor was right and I did need another surgery but there was no way I was going back there to not only have them toy around with my body but my mental health. I went to a different hospital had my Second procedure and the medical staff was compassionate and extremely sympathetic ( as they should be ) for everything I had gone through and the amount of time it took. 6 months later I was done bleeding and I had finally gotten my first cycle. Iā€™m currently in therapy so I give you -10 stars

My first baby was delivered here and I loved my experience so much with the staff that I chose to deliver here again with my 2nd even though I live 45 minutes away. I made it to the hospital and had my baby less than hour from arrival. The nurses make you feel so comfortable. They are the real stars of the show and thatā€™s saying a lot because I adore my doctor. If you are having a baby, this hospital will make you feel in good hands.

Brand new emergency room department with not enough room. I was not allowed to be with my daughter while in emergency because there was no room for me to be with her. Ultrasounds, blood work, in agony alone in a room while I sit in the waiting room. What a joke, absolutely horrible I cannot be with her during this time. Take your loved ones to Hamilton

Excellent staff, however, I overheard some other patients complain about the lack of confidentiality when going to the ER - they complained about being able to hear about the details of other patients' diagnoses and felt insecure about others being able to hear their own details.

I have literally never had a good experience at this hospital but todayā€™s takes the cake. I went in with a mass on my spine, and there was literally no one in the ER waiting room, or triage room. I got taken back immediately. Waited a bit, any nurse I saw looked at the lump, which is severely painful. I should mention, my mother was in a wheelchair by the end of her life with spinal stenosis, which is hereditary. The doctor comes in, pokes it once says itā€™s something which is didnā€™t even catch but reiterates itā€™s ā€˜just fatā€™ collected on my spine and itā€™s a cosmetic surgery if I need it and Essentially told me to eff off. Well sir, YOU can eff off. Even my mom, when she got diagnosed with the spinal stenosis, was misdiagnosed by you guys for 8 years. And then once diagnosed you left her to transfer from wheelchair to bed when she was still learning, alone, and she fell and broke her pinky toe badly. She also had a cardiac arrest on site and nearly died which would have been prevented had they noticed the signs she was pointing out(her hands were the size of a baseball glove) if I could rate this place -Infinity I would. Eff you Joseph brant.

My 14 year old son who is an asthmatic and was brought in due to difficulty breathing and puffers were not working. The nursing staff was great. My son was in and out in under 6 hours and treated with a nebulizer and was feeling better. Although the doctor's bedside manner was not great...he got the job done and we left feeling better.

Worst hospital I've ever been to. Not only did they misdiagnose my severe MRSA leg infection and caused me to almost lose my leg (I ended up going to Oakville Hospital instead thank god) they gave horrible service and made many mistakes with my gf's surgery. If we hadn't had mentioned have her blood tested, they wouldn't have known she needed a transfusion during surgery. The doctors/nurses were horrible and the best part is we were told the private room would be covered because a) all of the staff told us and b) when we went down to talk to the finance department they gave my credit card back and said that we wouldn't be charged. Only later did we receive a bill for over $1000 even when they said it was waived! What a scam. What an embarrassing hospital. I warned my gf not to go there and low and behold I was right. Would NEVER recommend this hospital to anyone! Such scammers. Shame on you.

I have been to the hospital several times in the past few months with a family member who has several chronic and not particularly common health problems.Only one time was there a bit of a wait for care.l think most people dont understand triage takes life threatening cases ahead of others. We are very pleased with the emergency room care. The doctors have been amazing. They have showed knowledge, respect and compassion with every visit on all floors of the hospital. The ER and ICU nurses are the best. The nurses on other floors are good but when you are there for hours watching you realize they are overworked and dont have the time to give the care they would like to.They are very stressed and not always shown respect from patients and their families. I have found both housekeeping and food service staff to be equally caring about patients too. I have taken away one star for two reasons. The food is no worse than any other hospital but it is no better either. There seems to be a lot thrown out which must be a financial hit. I wish there was a way to have a better recycling program. This is a problem in all hospitals and something that needs to be addressed.

Today I had to have a procedure at Joseph Brant hospital. I went in a little nervous but within the first 5 minutes I was put at ease. All of the staff were extremely nice, organized and respectful. I was informed every step of the way and it was truly one of the best experiences in a hospital that I have had. Also, it was very clean. Kudos to the nursing staff on the 2nd floor of the South tower. And thank you Dr. Comay. You all made an uncomfortable situation much more comfortable.

They let me use there phone when mine died to let my ride know Id be late, and to just go to sleep. They called me a cab after too. I have had two knee replacements done here. (Sept and June)I am just home and would like to say that "Stephanie" in 5S was outstanding. So friendly and so professional. Her patients are number 1 with her. The meals were fantastic the first time and terrible this time. They missed one meal and my nurse had to contact them and find out where it was. Another time it was so bad I couldn't eat it and another nurse went to find me something as I was starving. I thought maybe with covid in the hospital, maybe it was causing issues for them? I would recommend this hospital.

I was delighted with the treatment I got at Joe Brant last Wednesday, the 18th of October. I arrived around 4PM with a finger I had cut off (I had it with me) and one that was basically dangling. It was a table saw accident. I was greeted immediately and directed to the waiting room. I did have to ask if they should put my finger on ice with the hopes it could be reattached. That was done. The triage nurse was great (sorry, I didnā€™t get her name) and the person who wrapped my hand the first time equally as great. I eventually got to the back (it was a busy time) and Dr. Terry Hatch came in and assessed my fingers. He told me exactly what was happening and what was going to happen. And then set the wheels in motion. I was re bandaged, sent for X rays given tetanus shots, and then Dr. Hatch came back in and began to work on shaving the bone etc and stitching up my fingers. It was decided that the one would not be reattached, but the other one was to be repaired. I felt very well looked after by the main nurse assigned to me, Dr. Hatch and pretty much everyone else. Dr. Hatch was calm, professional, pleasant and excelled at what he did. All my questions were answered simply and calmly, no matter how silly they may have been. I had some prescriptions for pain and antibiotics, and a referral for an appointment for a plastic surgeon (follow up) before I left. I canā€™t say enough about Dr. Hatch and the nursing team in Emergency. Thank you so much for what you do, and the way you do it. David
