The most authentic South Indian Food. I can easily give 10⭐️ . We ordered Onion Masala Dosa, Vada Samber and Pori. The taste was super delicious. Thank you very much chef to make our day special. ❤️❤️❤️ .. Will definitely visit next time.

This restaurant is so busy, it could really use a good Renovation to increase its ambience. Quality of food has gone down. Customer service is poor. No one really pays attention to clients because they are so busy. Tables are very close to each other. It’s very uncomfortable to eat almost everyone is watching you. Especially when they don’t have their food it’s feels so weird to eat while someone is waiting for their food.

Very decent restaurant that serves authentic South Indian food. The ghee dosa is to die for: aromatic, crispy, tangy and creamy with generous potatoes stuffing. Their rice dishes are also very flavorful. No reservations so come early as customers fill up the place quickly. Good service and food is served quickly.

This simple yet super popular authentic South Indian restaurant shouts out and says, don’t mind my surroundings but taste my food. The seating is basic no frills and simple, but the food speaks volumes. One of the best restaurants for South Indian cuisine in GTA. The dosas and idlis are made to perfection, the sambhar is finger licking delicious and chutneys are fresh and tasty. They sell Idlis by 10/20/50s or more. Great value for buying for parties. I’ve eaten here multiple times and each time I feel I wish I could eat more. It’s paradise for South Indian food lovers. A must visit for good vegan vegetarian authentic food. Service is quick and efficient ( sometimes it may be delayed ) but even with a wait I love this restaurant.

Absolute terrible customer experience and I'm a regular customer. Would not recommend for any new or returning customers. I made an order for pick-up and was advised to be there in 15 minutes. Upon my arrival, I paid and was told to wait with my order #. I patiently waited for an additional 20 minutes (35 minutes in total) after watching customers who arrived after me pick up their order and leave. I asked the workers politely when my order will be ready and they said I'm next. I waited another 20 minutes after watching more customers come in and make brand new orders on the spot and leave before me. At that point I was frustrated and asked how much longer my order would take as I had been patiently waiting for almost more than an hour (considering the 15 minute buffer time they provided for my take-out order to be ready). The employee spoke to the manager and said "Oh but you ordered so-and-so" and make excuses. I asked firmly once again how long it would take and they responded 15-20 minutes. My order was not a big one yet others who came after me got their bigger orders beforehand. I was not given a refund and I was in fact, called 3 hours after saying my order is ready and given attitude on the phone when I tried to explain my experience. The employee on the phone simply said that they were just calling to see if I got my order or not in a rude manner despite me emphasizing the poor customer service I had been treated 3 hours prior to their follow up call.

I love the dining experience I had here. We came in early Saturday morning for breakfast. A while later, there were also other diners coming in to do the same. The place was active and busy early on in the morning. I like how there was some care and attention given into decorating the place. There are some hanged cultural decors and displays found inside to give that sense of authenticity and cultural immersion. Me and my friends were able to sample a variety of meals. There was an order of plain rava dosa and mint masala dosa. The dosa came with 3 different dips or sauces. I have nothing bad to say about how they taste. I was with a couple of friends hailing from South India and it was such a treat that we ordered the Madras Filter Coffee ($2.99) from the menu, and they showed me how to properly mix and stir the coffee. Overall, it was a good, memorable meal. I will consider this place next time I want some authentic Indian dining experience.

Ridiculously delayed service. We were there for almost 2 hours for out breakfast ona Sunday morning and all our ordered were messed up. We didn't even get some that we ordered. I saw at least 10 people there for service and none of then we're managed proeoy. Terrible management I would say. I really wish I could give 4 stars because the food was awesome. One of the best pongals I had in recent times.

Amazing South Indian / Sri Lankan food at very economical prices. Lots of varieties of dosas and idlis all cooked to perfection. Finish it all off with filter coffee. I especially love their different chutneys and spice levels. Service was also excellent.

Have been visiting this restaurant for over 10 years and have mostly done take out last few years. Decided to eat in this time and was really disappointed. The food is good but it was served cold. You can’t really enjoy South Indian Dosa if it’s not fresh. It wasn’t even warm to the touch. Even the potatoes in the dosa were room temperature. It felt like it was made ahead of time or sat on the counter for a while before it was served. The quantity for the chutney was terrible, just a tablespoonful as seen in the picture.

Wanna have typical Indian style South Indian food? Visit here... Seriously food was amazing... Although quantity of sabzi in speciality dosa was bit less but you really can't complaint at this price point... We ordered 2 special dosas - Pav Bhaji and Paneer masala, pav bhaji was ok but paneer one was really nice and then we ordered Rasam Idli (dipped) which was amazing Per Couple - Max 30$ Pro tip - Order Sambhar/Rasam Idli first so that you have additional sambhar when you order dosa.

First review: We have been going to this place for about 4 years now. Great south indian dishes and quality remains consistent regardless of the rush. Best thing to try - mysore masala dosa with onions They also have unlimited buffet in mornings that is super cheap! Edit 1: Food quality and service has been compromised since last few times. Edit 2: posting on behalf of my wife: So I went around 5:15 pm today evening with my husband as the Nilgiris reopens at 5 pm after a break. I ordered Mysore masala dosa(my usual as I very fond of it) and he ordered mixed vegetable oothapam. We saw that the red tomato chutney was not served so we checked with the servers and they told us it’s not in stock. Since we have been dining in there frequently there, we really loved it but we also realised that the quality of food has been compromised and the services are going downhill even more with each visit. However, we never thought in our wildest of dreams that this visit would turn out to be our last one when I found a piece of plastic in my mouth that I was about to swallow unknowingly while eating my dosa. I got this instinct that something isn’t right as I am trying to chew the food however nothing is happening to it. I immediate took it out and was shocked to see this piece of plastic. We are not sure if I already swallowed some of it. On confronting this to the server who was attending our table, she politely said “oh this happened? We are very sorry, we can exchange the chutney if you want”. That’s it!!! This was a life hazard and that’s what their reaction was as if nothing happened!! It’s a casual thing!!!! What if I ate some of it? What if there was a kid in my place?who will take responsibility for this?

Went there during weekend, the place gets busy towards the afternoon. Food is a bit late to serve but if ur not on a rush, the wait is worth it. Their menu is reasonably priced and tasty.

The food is quite good and price are very reasonable, I would definitely recommend this place one gripe I have with this place is that their portion of Sambar that they give is a bit small but other than that this place is a must try if you are visiting that neighbourhood.

The food is amazing and delicious. I haven’t had better authentic South Indian food anywhere else. The menu is large and they have many mild and spicy options. My personal favourite is the Gunpowder dosa with masala. Although it does get very busy during dinner time. I had to wait 30 minutes for my dosa but it was definitely worth it. Staff were very friendly and nice. Everything is also fairly priced. I will definitely be coming back and I recommend this place 100%

Great food to start with. The south Indian dishes served are very delicious. When it comes to atmosphere and cleanliness, they could put in a little bit more effort. One person takes your order, brings the food, takes the plates back and cleans the table. I have a reputation of catching the foul smells pretty well and quickly, so I could smell the cleaning cloth from a distance. That smell is transferred to the table and unfortunately interferes with the food smell! I really don’t want to think about how good the kitchen may be… Will take away all the time next time…

I bought 100 idles with sambar & coconut chutney for $55 in mid August 2021 & when I ordered the same on September 11, 2021 they charged me $70/- a huge jump in price of $15/- within two weeks. The person at the cash was very rude when questioned about the price jump. Will never go there & will never recommend this place to anyone.

I had masala dosa and it was good taste. with 7 taste uttapas that was good too. but the quantity of chutney has reduced. as i have been eating here for years. and i have had almost ever item on their menu and they are all good. The Madras Coffee was good . as usual The atmosphere has changed also as there is a section where things are stored and they are not covered . so it gives a feeling of you are sitting in a store room and having food. i hope they make it look like a restaurant like before

We have been dining and taking out from this modest south indian place for years no. Its no fuss, no frills and who cares kinda eatery that server pretty decent south indian tiffins and mains. Recent years have seen Toronto get a lot of variety in south indian eateries but this place has endured test of time , including the pandemic. Perhaps the only place and may be even the first to cater bulk take outs of Idlis, Vada, Dosa etc. Flagship location in Scarborough is the better one of the other in Brampton Weekend buffets are just ok and food taste depends on the chefs mood i tend to believe. Buffet stopped during the pandmic and nit sure if it has come back. The lunch thalis are ok and economical ( not unlimited though) . Dosa, Vada and Idlis have been pretty consistent over the years. Their filter coffee is not too bad as well. Service is just average. Place is packed during weekends and also weekday evenings, especiallly returning repeat customers It doesnt get 5 starts for anything but I’d still keep going here for its considtent that way with the food.

One of the most authentic dosa taste in Toronto and super reasonably priced! Definitely worth a visit, they have wait times on weekends so plan accordingly and try to reach close to opening hours. Service is quick so you generally won’t wait for too long. The staff is really nice and deserve a good tip, however they only accept tips in cash so ensure to carry some along.

The real taste of Chennai right in Toronto. I’ve had great veg. Food before but this was the most authentic. Variety of flavour on a single platter. Definitely will be back for more.

I visited this restaurant first time, first of all they treated me really bad, I was given a seat by one of the employees and then I was told the manager that I have to empty the seat because it is not my turn. However, manager still let me sit on the table but our food was still given according to their prioritiy list. We waited 40min on the table for the food, we were being ignored. The worst location I have ever seen. I will never come to this location and will tell everyone that this place is not good place. Look at the uncooked chapati.

My experience at the Nilgiris was not one of the best. Having lived in the Nilgiris, India for many years of my life. I was hoping to get a good experience here. Upon arrival no staff approached me. I had to get their attention. Once I was seated I wait for a while for the employee to show up and take my order. He was a bit slow. I requested for a small cup of ghee. That showed up only after the sambar-idli was done. The dosa showed up hot but it took a while to serve. Food experience was good. Hot, fresh, tasty. But customer service needs so much improvement.

Tried their mysore masala dosa, Mendu vada and payasam. Great in taste, Sambhar and chuntnies were delicious. And they do not charge for extra. I have tried better payasam. And the mysore masala dosa was a bit spicy. But great in taste.

  • 2/5 Ramesh L. 2 years ago on Google
Food quality is still good. Thumbs up for that. By far the best in town for south Indian food. That said The, The customer service has gone really bad. I was billed incorrectly for the 4th time in the last few months. They are very reluctant to cancel the incorrect bill and generate the correct bill. Instead they are asking the customer to buy additional things to bridge the gap. Why do I need to buy something that I don't need. . To cover up the mistake I was told there was a price hike. Very disappointing. What they need is a good floor manager who can cater to an audience who like south Indian food and making customer service as their top priority.

Best place in Scarborough for having vegetarian food. Tried parotta, masala Dosa, ghee dosa, madras coffee, chilli parotta idli, sambar all tasted really good 😋. Worth visiting this place. But it gets filled up within minutes, so the wait time increases. They have sufficient space to accommodate many people.

This place has never disappointed me in any of my visits, this review is a long pending one due!! This was the very 1st restaurant I dined in after moving to canada. My friends took me here for dinner on the day I landed and it’s been one of my all time favorite veggie restaurant. Even during Covid I used to order take out and drive all the way from Missisauga to Markham. My entire family loves this place. We had a Panner masala dosa,Rasa Vadai, Pepper idly, Rava masala dosa, Kitchadi and Nutella kids dosa. All of the above items were lip smacking good. We missed their filter coffee and pongal this time since we were there only around closing time. I am also a big fan of their meals the portion for the meal is really huge. I miss the weekend buffet which they used to have before covid. Paneer masal dosa had a delicious filling with some huge stuffing portions, unlike other places were masala comes with a lot of potatoes with little paneer this one was different didn’t even find any potato which I loved, this way they did justice to the paneer masala dosa with a pure paneer stuffing. This is hands down a place which I would recommend to any one asking to have a typical South Indian food. The price point to the items is also budget friendly and has never been expensive compared to any other place which serves proper South Indian meal.

I would say you can get some best south indian tiffins in here. I absolutely loved rava dosa and ghee pongal.. Also, ask for more green chutney while ordering as they give very less initially and takes time for the second serving. You can visit Lord siva temple which is straight in-front of this restaurant.

  • 2/5 Asfia H. 7 months ago on Google
We ordered masala dosa and rava masala dosa, the taste was okayish. The rava masala dosa was a little oily. The size of the dosas are quite good but the quantity of chutney provided with that is just not sufficient and they charge for extra chutney. Service is really slow. The ambience is okay. The prices are reasonable though!

Great South Indian food. Given the quality of the authentic food, you may have to wait a while to get your table but the food is definitely worth it. Highly recommended dishes - sambar vada, rava masala dosa, Madras filter coffee, venpongal, idli vada

If you miss the south indian cuisine relax. Eat at the Nilgiri's restaurant in Scarborough and the taste will flood in and overwhelm you. Tried the dosas and the idli and menu vada and i have not tasted better even in India. Original taste, the sambar was to die for, the chutneys superb and the dosa itself crisp and tasty. Discovery for me. Great service though the lady in charge though seeming harassed always had a smile on her face and the waiters were quick efficient and busy. Very crowded but it was a Sunday. Please eat here for authentic south indian meals. I'm certainly going in for more.

My friend suggested me this place for South Indian food. I tried dosa and it was awesome. Very good taste. Certainly I recommend this place for South Indian food. Don’t judge by interior. Looks old look and dim lights but it’s totally worthy once you taste food. And yes with good price

Horrible service! Horrible food! They had nothing that we wanted to eat. Pretty much picked whatever they had. I would never come back to this place again. I strongly suggest that you stay away from this place. I gave 1 star just to be able to submit my review. It was a very unpleasant experience.

We went there for lunch on December 26th. Atmospere was very relaxing. Customer Service was satisfactory, for me it's very very important. My husband ordered chana poori but by mistake they served him poori bhaji. When we talked about it, they realised their mistake and offered bhaji free and then served chana too. At that time it wasn't much busy, so we enjoyed our lunch peacefully. Food was delicious. I recommend this restaurant, if anyone wants to eat flavorful South Indian food. Again we went there 2 weeks ago but it was very busy at that time so we didn't prefer to wait there with my toddler.

Awesome food, but terrible service, placed order, the staff didn't enter it in system, food got delayed by 30 minutes. Few tables seated before us got here food before us, had to ask staff for them to enter the order. 15 minutes before finishing lunch ordered take out, the again didn't enter it into the system. I would not recommend done in delivery might be the way to go.

We took our younger son for a birthday lunch at the Scarborough location. We choose this restaurant because we wanted to patronize them after a long Covid19 lockdown. BIG MISTAKE. The restaurant was filty and dated. We stood for a long time then finally asked if we could sit because we were being ignored. The water cups on the table were dirty making us wonder about the condition of the kitchen. We ordered 4 dosas. Three came at different times we finished our 3 dosas. The birthday boy didn't get his even after we asked three times. He finally said he wanted to leave. I asked for the bill but it didn't come finally I went to the cashier to pay then they finally brought the fourth dosa, really? 45 minutes after ordering? Their excuse was that they were busy. My son didn't get his dosa while people that arrived after us got theirs. Really? Is this how you run your business? You had many month of lockdown yet you couldn't find time to clean your place? We'll never ever dine at this restaurant again. Good luck guys.

You can change your name as “LATE GIRIS” Totally disappointed, because needs to wait at least 1 Hour. They take all the orders and want us to pay first. Dear Management, Do not think people don’t know how to make foods, They coming to you shop because the don’t have time to cook or they don’t want to spend time to cook. If you want us to wait 1hr and pay early, means you are playing with HUMAN STOMACH. Please change your time managing system otherwise this restaurant will NOT LAST LONGER. I am seriously never ever come to your shop again. Take care of your customers because CUSTOMERS IS A KING, and you start loosening customers. Thanks
