Haven't been to Value Mart in a while. Got there to find out, it's called Independent store now. They moved a few things around, but pretty much the same layout. Prices were pretty fair 👌. I guess I will be shopping here more, since no frills shelves have been pretty empty. Come and try the store out!

Like others have said, the little bald man who seems to be the manager is very rude. He stares at you while you check ingredients as if you are going to steal. I have been rudely confronted by him and only return because the cashiers are very friendly. Prices are too high and there is a small product selection, this place will just have to do when you’re in a pinch.

The biggest price gougers, if you want groceries, go to no frills up the street

I never have issues for 6 years. I did not take receipts Cashier charged me twice. I never noticed for an hour. I called store and told them, she said she would check cameras for next time I come to store. Camera can clearly see I can only carry one case. I went back 2 days later. The same cashier saw me and instead of saying sorry. Or offering to give back my 10 dollars. She said loudly to other cashier to watch herself because they are watching now , repeating watch yourself. I was mortified. I'm reviewing my experience everywhere. I'm a good customer. And now I'm the problem

Very rude store manager, didn’t let me in with my service dog! When asked for ID he didn’t have one! My one year experience with this place always higher prices lower quality and now rude attitude! Never shop here again

Definitely not the cheapest grocery store in the area, so I really only go there for the ready-made hot food if I don't feel like cooking. That said, I went there today and was going to buy a small bag of candy canes on a whim. I'm talking mini candy canes, about 15-20 in a bag. The price shown was a little over a dollar, but when I got to the cash I was told the advertised price was per pound and that it would end up being about $8. There is no way it weighed that much, so there's something funny going on with the pricing. Needless to say, I did not buy the candy canes and will be sticking with my ready-made foods rather than actual groceries. Aside from the prices, the store is fine. Most of the staff is very friendly, the floors are always clean and the shelves are stocked. It's on the smaller side compared to other grocery stores in the area but it's got all the essentials. Just be prepared to pay more for those essentials.

Friendly workers will help with anything you need. Since the store is smaller than most grocery stores, you probably won't find specific products such as certain spices or advanced baking/cooking ingredients. Also Valu-mart is typically more expensive than Nofrills for example, with similar or even worse quality products (for example, rotten bananas). However, Valu-mart is open until late evening, which is a bonus!

Absolutely ridiculous prices...I know prices have gone up everywhere but this store is insanely high priced..save yourself the hassle and go to no frills 10 min walk away. .. 3 stars for cleanliness tho

Everything here is 20-30% more expensive than the no frills a couple blocks away. I do really like the staff, always chipper.

Since changing over from Value Mart there is a god awful smell in there that has remained for weeks. It smells like rotting meat all throughout the store, but worse the closer you get to their back room( where they dairy products are).I am sure it was some accident but please fix this at least for the sake of your employees! I feel so bad for them having to work in that smell all day, I have been in and out ASAP because the smell is so bad. Can't imagine working in it all day, cmon now. That should be a priority

Good value for money. Plenty of options, flyers updated every week. Plenty of discounts and offers with PC optimum cards.

I would like to share my experience of going and buying 2 products at this grocery store, where I cashed out on their little scanners and was accosted by the boss thinking that I did not pay and directed me back over to the machine to show the machine just shows a receipt only to know that I had already paid, I felt Stereotypes that I was stealing stuff and I certainly wasn't and I would like to say that the bald boss needs a new job because he doesn't do his job very goodI would not recommend going to the store as they stand there and watch you thinking that you're stealing everything.

This store is small but has a good selection of everything. Great for a local grocery store

They don't have all the flyer sale items that a regular Loblaws has but the prices are about the same. Better off walking an extra 10 minutes up the street to the closest No Frills as even regular priced items are about a dollar less in most cases.

Basics are here. Be careful of the produce. They sometimes stock old fruits and vegetables

Don't buy anything from the Lakeshore location. I bought meat and chips recently and they made me sick for 4 days like throwing up

Purchased three items one evening, two of which were bagged. On arriving home I noticed that I was missing an item, and upon inquiring by phone, reached the check-out person, who explained that the item accidentally “slid” from the bag. As a customer at a grocery store you expect a little bit more attention paid with the items that you pay for.

Great location and basic items but I do wish there was more variety for the international foods. If you're looking for south Asian or middle eastern food items you will not find them at this location maybe due to the fact it's an eastern European neighborhood.

Great selection. Much better than no frills. Bright and clean. Great meat selection. Bakery selection was small though

Easy approach using route 76 TTC. Lot of parking space if you are driving. Open from 9am to around 9pm on weekdays. Fresh bread and meat options. For Indians around the place, you can get basic masalas and tea powder at the store.

My sister led me to this store to get the Feta cheese and spinach bread. And i came back for more. Everyday freshly baked! Go grab it. Same bread that you will buy from a coffee shop. Price of 1pc in shop for 4 pcs at valu mart. 😉

I couldn't find a staff member to ask where a product I needed was, therefore I asked an Asian lady behind the deli counter. She did not know where it was. While walking around looking for it I came across a guy cleaning the floor and asked him. He couldn't speak English well but he was happy to help and knew exactly where it was. I found it quickly thanks to him. I wish more of the staff would know where to find and locate the products in the store. He helped me immensely saving me from walking throughout the store since I was walking with two canes. We need more like him! 😊

Horrible stuff ( not all) , overpriced and no selection choices. WAY more expensive than No Frills. The prepared food is always burned and too crispy.

Although it is a small store it has everything you might need and the employee service alone should earn them a 5 star rating (Quality goes without saying)

😠 This is the same location that was on the News because they had a shopping cart full of raw meat! Every time I come here I have a problem. 😠 DO NOT DO A GROCERY PICK UP HERE UNLESS YOU LIKE ROTTEN AND MOLDY FRUIT AND VEGETABLES. Every time I do a PC Express grocery pick up, I have to throw most of the produce out. Every time this happens, I tell myself it's the last time I will shop there but this past time, I mean it. I will never pi...
