I love the spalsh pad for the little ones on hot days but this place is shetchy as F. I have spotted crack pipes and needles on the ground, lots of people tripping out including infront of the 519 and in the park. I guess this is downtown living as it is very eclectic. They have never bothered me while with my kids ...just be warm!

Never a dull moment. Boy oh boy, the excitement in the air at peak hours is palpable. People are lively and engaging if not a little "quirky". Not for the feint of heart, or weak of constitution. This park will test your capacity for stress and understanding of people under the influence. Pretty nice benches also.

Best time to visit the dog park is during off-peak hours. During peak hours there are quite a number of dogs both small and large-sized which tends to lead to high-energy situations and lots of yapping. There are a couple of core visitors who help clean the park, without them it would be obvious there are many irresponsible dog owners using the park as a self cleaning toilet.

Well laid out park, with an leash off dog park, AIDS memorial, kiddy splash part fenced off as unfortunate lots of sketchy people hanging around as the 519 community centre is next door. Not recommended to walk alone at night as can be hassled & used needles & crack pipes laying around, it is well lit & usually lots of people around as it is right on Church Street.

This small-ish park is great and not-so-great at the same time. It scores high because of it's significance within Toronto's Church/Wellesley neighbourhood. Long before advances were made with respect to rights for the broader LGBTQ community in Canada, this neighbourhood -- and in particular this lil park -- provided a safe space for those on the margins. It sits aside one of the most vital community centres in the city, the 519, which provides a breadth of services and programmes for its queer constituents and is also welcoming to the broader community. The off-leash area for dogs is great, and I've had some of my best convos with strangers there! There is a fair bit of drug culture in the park, which for this open minded gent becomes a problem with sometimes unsafe reuse littered about and more notably when the odd petty thug takes advantage of the generous nature of our community members -- who are oft willing to lend an ear or a dollar. There are examples of folks getting jumped late at night in the park from those posing as cruising, or needing help, or from straight-up ne-er-do-wells who cite queers as easy marks. So take care if walking thru late at night.

When it comes to visiting the dog park, timing is everything. You don't want to be there during peak hours, unless you're into chaos and constant barking. But if you swing by during off-peak hours, you'll have the place all to yourself (well, almost). Plus, you can show off your impressive frisbee skills without worrying about dodging a pack of pups. Win-win!

Cute place to wash your dog if you go for a walk and get very muddy. It’s clutch and it’s not as hot but it can get really cold in a couple of hours if you’re in a good spot and it’s a little hot and humid out

Looks very neglected. This was once a nice place with the AIDS memorial but it has really gone down hill from past years. It could definitely use an upgrade. Almost made me uncomfortable and I was there on a week day. Trash, dirty, homeless people all around. Very sad. Hope the city does some improvements on this.

Located in the village this park is well lit at night so much so thAt you will never sees stars in the sky.. not a park you'd want to use to relax in as the local characters have turned it into something for them to enjoy and conduct business in

Beautiful little parkette that perfectly exudes a warm community vibe. I love the lights. The city should have these everywhere ❤️😂

A cess pool for homeless meth heads, crack heads, junkies, petty criminals, pan handlers, and thieves responsible for many of the break-ins in the neighborhood. You can't sit on one of the benches in the middle of the day without being bothered by someone begging for money or cigarettes. Some can get very aggressive and have assaulted or mugged several area residents. Something needs to be done to clean up this park and make it available again to the residents of the community.

Great spot! The renovations have made it inviting at night and useful for multi purposes. There is a kids playground although I don’t think it’s the best place to bring your kids… having said that, it’s my favourite park.

Barbara Hall the liberal opportunist who opposed childcare centres and housing from being built in our community does not deserve to be honoured. This park should be renamed.

Please don’t bring your dogs here until a suspect has been arrested. Some senseless guy shot someone’s 3 year old dog on Tuesday. The dog didn’t make it. Pls be careful.

This Barbara Hall Park was rich with acknowledgement of our gay struggles. Loved the AIDS Memorial, with thousands of names. Recognition of Pulse assassinations. A jewel in Toronto's LGBTQ+ district.

It's super fun when the park hosts the Greenspace for pride. Best to get there early before the long lines, especially on the first and last day of pride events. However, during the rest of the year, the park is mostly utilized by the unsheltered and those in need of social support as a place of reprieve.

Yo, there's this sweet little park right by Church St. that I walk by every dang morning. It's like my own personal oasis, y'all. Get you some of that green goodness.

Dog park and splash pad. Small park with not much open space but located right in the village. Not the best place at night, can get pretty sketchy.

Food was overpriced and not the same as represented on their social media. Banh mi had a token amount of meat and way too much cilantro. Pho dip was watery.

During the daytime the park seems mostly fine with a lot of the local elderly there and chatting. However during dusk and evening a lot on homeless gather there partially clothed

Cute, quiet little parkette in the heart of Torontos Gay Village. Quaint benches and lots of green space, there is a water feature that I've never seen operating. HIV/AIDS Memorial, quite touching and beautiful.

Great Park in the heart of the “village “. Good off leash dog park. And a good kids enclosed play area. Can be a bit colourful in the evening and sketchy late at night. Busy urban area so not really a destination attraction more of a neighbourhood park for the local community in the heart of the LGBTQ+ village.

Great park. Lots of wonderful people and dogs visit here.

It's a nicely laid out urban park with a dog area. You have to contend with the street people who hang out here also. They are harmless and don't bother you.

  • 3/5 Ken L. 2 years ago on Google
In the heart of the village... Love the lights at night as it reflects the neighbourhood and its character. Like the village, much has changed since this urban hang out was created.... I walk through this area once a week to visit my brother for the past 15 years and I've seen the changes. The people aren't nearly as good as the residents that originally created the LGBT community... There are now drug addicts, street people, homeless vagrant and other undesirable people hanging around at night. Used to be nice... Was a 4 and now 3 and dropping

  • 5/5 Gerhard G. 2 years ago on Google
Also has the Toronto AIDS memorial.....it is nice...however would be better if the city put a bit more effort into keeping it clean.
