Some years ago, I went to Danforth Jewellers to ask about attaching two small pendants to make one. Jim went through all the steps involved, the cost, and advised me that it would be too expensive for what I would end up with. I appreciated his candor, so when I inherited a star sapphire ring recently, I went back to ask about having the rather outdated style changed. He did a magnificent job and I couldn't be happier with the result. He used 14k white gold instead of the 10k he had mentioned, and was hesitant to charge me the difference. I was more than happy to pay. The entire ring, re-styled, updated, and absolutely gorgeous, would have been cheap at twice the price! I highly recommend him.

Jim repaired a badly damaged ring that had been ruined by another jeweller, and he restored and repaired an old Hamilton watch such that it looks like new. He also repaired a couple of other watches. So glad I found this place. I had to get my wedding and engagement rings cut off and resized and they were amazing. He obviously knew what he was doing, and did it so quickly that it was over before I knew it. Also, it was done with one snip so the ring was in good shape when done (which was something I was concerned about ahead of time). He was very friendly as well. The ring cutting was free and the resizing price was very reasonable. What could have been an awkward experience was actually a very positive one and I'd highly recommend then!

Really great service! I recently bought an interesting watch from an estate sale (without knowing if it was in working condition) and took it in to Jim to replace the battery. When he was doing so, he noticed that some parts were missing inside the watch, and ordered them to do the repairs for me. As he was doing the repairs, he noticed that there were further problems with the mechanics of the watch, and went ahead and fixed them, on the house. It was such a kind surprise, and I am so happy with my "new" watch! Will definitely return here for future jewellery needs!

My boyfriend and I came to Danforth Jewelers to look into getting a custom engagement ring and wanted to use a local business. We're so glad we did, as the experience and product were both perfect. Jim took our design ideas and made an exquisite ring that is even better than we envisioned, and without pressure to spend more. My boyfriend (now fiance!) brought the ring to our summer vacation in Greece to propose and our family and friends here love it. I feel compelled to write a review for Danforth Jewellers simply because the experience for me, has been a pleasure from the beginning to the end. Recently, I had a couple of repairs done and Jim was able to make the whole experience a breeze as well as timely. He answered all my questions with confidence and was very thorough. I asked many questions and I never once felt like I had been a nuisance. More importantly Jim helped me understand the "why". I also, never feel like I have been "fleeced" afterwards. Danforth Jewellers, is a shop worth visiting to purchase unique products as well as having repairs done. Danforth Jewellers should be an example for other businesses.

Jim was more than helpful we got our wedding rings fitted and chosen in less than 15 minutes with his help. Great service and great people. Couldn't be happier.

I left my Movado watch with Jim to get the battery replaced on April 5th. Originally Jim said it would be ready by April 8. It's now May 8 and he still has my watch or has lost it. He says it's "misplaced". Regardless I have been without my watch for over a month. I have called and made repeated visits to the store trying to get my watch back. Originally was told the part was out of stock. Then the watchmaker was away due to family issues. Now Jim says it's misplaced. Do not take an expensive watch for service here if you want to see it again. The offer was a replacement watch that is ordered online from who knows where and it would take to May 26 to receive it!! I bought my watch from Movado. Not good enough, Jim.

STUNNING PIECES AND AWESOME SERVICE! I've been going to Danforth Jewellers for a number of years to get my Tag serviced - every time my watch has been ready exactly when I was told it would be. Recently, I purchased a large diamond stud and a solid gold chain from them too. With the stud, I chose the diamond and then was able to specify the setting and the stem. My custom-made stud is nearly flawless, has excellent colour and is truly stunning! It was ready exactly when Jim (the owner) said it would be. The 14K gold chain has great heft and is beautiful! With both purchases Jim was awesome. He took time to understand what I was looking for and ultimately delivered exactly what I wanted. I highly recommend Danforth Jewellers and I will continue to give them my business for years to come!

I went in today to have a ring cut from my finger that I had on for over 25 years. The ring had to come off and Jim cut it off for me and didn’t even want to charge me for doing this service. Jim the owner is a great guy and customer service is his first priority thanks Jim I appreciate it and I look forward to buying from you in the future. Jim made me a custom diamond ring and he had it ready for pick up in 3 days what can I say it’s better than the photo I gave him to work with real amazing work Jim thanks. January 2nd update I took the ring in for an inspection and found out that all the stones were not all VS2 Si1 there was a few I1s in the mix I called up Jim and told him about it he said he wanted to fix it and make it right but I wasn’t on board with that I suggested better due diligence on his part and for him to talk to his supplier of diamonds. I am disappointed with this fact that due diligence was not done on Jims part but what’s done is done and should not be undone next time I am going to have something custom made I will think about it because you don’t get what you pay for and are promised.

Just went in last week to have my moms gold engagement ring & diamond fused together with my grandmothers white gold wedding band. The service was amazing and quality of work was even better! There are few places like this around. Jim treats you not like a customer family. I’m soo happy with the look results of my ring. Edit: we loved the work done on my engagement ring (taking 2 rings, old tarnished white gold 80 year old ring (grand mother’s ) and my moms yellow gold engagement ring to make one ring that we went back to have our wedding bands done. Jim was amazing and even though he had to re-do my band bc as beautiful as it was, it was not what I had envisioned or communicated with that well, he took time to listen and hear how i wanted the wedding band to fit and match my engagement ring. I came back and was so happy with it! Don’t get me wrong, the first ring was beautiful and gorgeous…just not my style. Jim did not make me feel bad for not liking the ring or him having to do a new ring. It was evident he wanted me to walk away happy! And I truly was. Jim made my wife's engagement ring and our wedding bands and did an amazing job. For all of the rings we had our own ideas of what we wanted and brought pictures in for him and he gave us exactly what we were looking for for great prices. He drew up a graphic design for my wife's wedding band and when she wasn't 100% sure about it he even took the time to make a wax prototype for her to ease her mind and show her what the ring would look like when it was finished. Brought my mom's gold retirement watch from Birks in for a replacement battery. Jim noticed the crystal was cracked - I'd mentioned that was probably from my mom trying to remove the bevel to use one of the others the watch came with. We'd tried in the past during battery placements but Birks said they could not get it off and that she would just have to live with the one that was currently on it. Jim had other plans and said to leave it with him. When I came back a few days later I had a whole new watch , polished and cleaned with a new crystal and a bevel that easily comes off! I cannot WAIT to surprise my mom and was so happy with the workmanship. The fact Jim loves big dogs and always has something special for my girl behind the counter is a bonus. I've had a Tissot for over 20 years, and it was in need of servicing. Jim did a great job, including a new gasket, and had it back on my wrist within 3 business days. You never know what you'll get in some shops, but he's a straight shooter and does a great job. I'll be back.

Beautiful work! The centre stone of my engagement ring fell out after 13 years (lucky number 13 haha). Fortunately for me, I found the stone! Took the ring in to Jim to discuss options to repair it and also discussed ways to enhance my beautiful ring. He found issues and imperfections that other jewelers did not...and there was zero pressure on what to do. Jim was great to work with - my husband and I worked with him to design a beautiful halo around the original center stone and we changed the setting as well. Bought a watch band that ended up defective in a few months. Jim tried to get the supplier to replace the band, but the supplier didn't get back to him. So, he ended up replacing my band with a brand new one free of charge. Jim knows how to take care of his customers.

In addition, I've had sizing bumps inserted into a ring. All of the work was perfectly executed, and most of the batteries were changed within the hour. My mother bought nose ring from the flee market. I went to the Danforth jewellers. He asked me to pay 5 dollars just for checking it is real diamond or not. Bad cuatomer service. Highly diappointed. I dont recommend this jewllery store.

I recently went in to see Jim at Danforth Jewellers with my mom & dad's wedding bands. I also had a pair of my mom's earrings with amethysts set in the design. My dad has been gone for 30 years, my mom almost 3 years now. I had a vision and intention for my mom & dad's wedding bands and just talked; Jim listened. I wanted to be able to wear and enjoy my parent's wedding bands now and I wanted them to be bond together somehow -- knowing that I would never wear my mom's earrings, I wanted her birthstone, the amethysts, worked into the design somehow. That's not all I wanted; I also wanted to be able to pass forward these wedding bands one day, to my son, for him to wear and enjoy (he may want to have amethysts removed!) I took it further and told Jim that I wanted my son to then be able to separate these bands, and give one to each of his sons. So Jim listened and this is what I picked up only today!!! 😊 (see pic below - sorry, it does not do the ring justice) but suffice it to say that the design blew me away; it is more beautiful than I could have imagined it to be. Not only that, but Jim managed to design the ring in exactly the fashion that would allow me pass this ring forward and then for it to be passed forward yet again. The design is timeless!! It is striking!! I love it and I know that my mom & dad are smiling looking down in amazement at the absolute wonder of the creativity that has gone into this design that is set to go forward 2 more generations!! Love this shop and very happy with the owner Jimmy. My husband ordered a custom made bracelet. Jimmy had it made in a timely manner. We had discussed the design but it needed tweaking after it was made. Jimmy DID NOT hesitate he remodeled the bracelet and we were blown away with the outcome. In fact, every time we have needed a service we are never disappointed. The shop is not fancy but it does not need to be. Thanks to the lockdown, I finally got around to going through the jewelry I had amassed over the years, including a number of family heirloom pieces. I even found my very first ring, a birthstone given to me on my 10th birthday. I brought everything to Jim with whom I collaborated on a number of designs to incorporate old stones in new pieces. He also bought chains I will never again wear. He cleaned old pieces to make them like new and urged me to have some pieces appraised. Which I did. As for the birthstone, I am back to wearing every day like I did when I was a teen. He took the old ring, resized it, and built a jacket for it. Stunning. I can't recommend highly enough. And, BTW, I used to deal with his Dad when the store was located closer to Chester so many years ago. Totally trusted. Reasonable too.

UPDATE: After such an incredible experience with Jim who fixed a ring my father gave me, my (now) husband and I decided to get a custom engagement ring from Jim at Danforth Jewellers. One word: incredible. After returning a ring that I had purchased online that I didn't love, I went to Danforth Jewellers and Jim was pretty much a legend from the jump. I brought in some inspiration photos (and had a grand yet vague idea of what my ring could look like) and between his expertise and my thoughts/opinions, I now have a beautiful, one of a kind, two-piece ring made just for me that could not have turned out better. Overall, the experience felt like I was there in-person as the ring was being made, because Jim communicated every step of the process with pictures as new developments were made. From ideation to the rendering to the wax to the actual rough cutting and the final piece, I was involved in the entire process and I couldn't have found anything better that was more a reflection of me and what I wanted. Jim worked with our price point & schedule, was always available for questions, even sourced a different gem for my ring just to show me because he knew I wanted to see it. Jim is a wealth of knowledge and I am so happy that we trusted him with what we wanted, because he delivered in a huge way.
