Beautiful historic building in downtown Toronto. The details in the woodwork and rooms left me in awe. Seen Rock of Ages and couldn't have been more pleased with sound, lighting and atmosphere. Seats were comfortable, isles clean, not sticky like in a movie theatre. Staff very courteous and most helpful.

Beautiful theatre filled with history! Conveniently located on Yonge Street near the Eaton Centre. We love sitting high up and in the back to see most shows which gives us an awesome point of view on what is happening. It also allows us to enjoy the gorgeous architecture. Most of these pics were taken from seat R405. The acoustics were great and the seats comfortable.

Lovely venue! I lucked out and got my hands on balcony seat tickets to see my favourite artist Charlotte Cardin and it was incredible. Easily the best seats in the theatre in my opinion as thereโ€™s only 4 chairs on each balcony and it was spacious, private and excellent view of the stage.

We went there as part of doors open event. It was the most spectacular theatre i have ever seen. It is so well maintained and the volunteers were so warm and engaging. Riding up the original elevators, learing how bread dough was used to clear up dirt from the walls to preserve the paint, viewing the Elgin hall and the winter gardens was all simply a spectacular experience.

Beautiful theatre. It was my first time going there during the JFL festival for Neal Brennan show. Comfy seats and easy to go through and exit too. The show it self wasnโ€™t as good as I was expecting.

Great small theatre, we unfortunately had pur seats moved due to set up for Rock of Ages needing our seats for sound equipment and couldn't see the edge of the stage as a result. They have great old decor and the old style elevators with staff managing them which is a cool feature but makes for busy intermission.

It's a great theatre because it is close to a main subway line - Queen Subway Station. It's also opposite Eaton's Centre and a few hotels in the area. Sitting is good, nice views regardless of where you choose to sit.

Nice big theater. Chairs are pretty comfy. Slanted floor rows gives you a good view even if you are further back. It was my first time there and I'd love to go back to see more live performances.

Just recently went to see "Come From Away" the production itself was thoughtful funny and emotional with excellent actors, musicians and I'm sure an incredible team behind the scenes. Elgin Theater has kept it's beautiful heritage look including even the elevators. They have added all the more modern nessessaties, such as the lighting without taking away from the character of the building. The ground floor seating is built on a slope to help be able to see above the person in front of you. The theater overall is clean and the staff are very friendly and organized!

Loved this! Great backstage tour and entering that auditorium is just a magical experience, especially for a Theatre studies alumna like me.

Visited for Doors Open. All staff were very knowledgeable and clearly worked at the theatre for a period of time. Would love to visit for a performance

The decor and ambiance are beautiful. I love this place with all its pageantry. You get lost in its history and easy to envision Toronto's past. The drinks are reasonably priced (they don't gouge). The staff is very nice and helpful. When you're there you may even see the odd star of Murdoch Mysteries.

Such an elegant and remarkable theatre. We saw rock of ages and it was fabulous. Not kids friendly although there were many children there. Definately you should see a play at this theatre.

Historic venue with hand-operated elevators from days gone by. Food selection is limited but they gave away free water and Popsicles. Pleasant and helpful staff.

Beautiful outside and in! Went for a comedy show - had a seat at the back in the aisle on the ground floor and it was perfect! Will be back just for the comfort level and space of seats in the ground floor.

"nice theatre, it's a bit much" - Drew Lynch Beautifully restored pre-WW1 era if I'm not mistaken. We came here for 3 separate JFL shows. 2 in the very front. One in the very back. Show in the very back kind of sucked you're so far away, some screens so you can see the person peforming on stage would be helpful but otherwise great.

My wife and I attended a matinee of Rock of Ages on March 25th. Beautiful theater with lush comfortable seats. The theater staff were wonderful. When taking our seats they asked us if we'd like to upgrade to center orchestra seats. We jumped at the chance. Drinks in the bar are very reasonably priced comparable to other venues in the city. The downstairs bar area has lots of great posters of shows from a bygone age. Close to subway and Union Station to get in and out quickly and easily. Hopefully we can catch one more showing of Rock of Ages before it closes.

Had an amazing experience thanks to Doors Open Toronto to finally visit Elgin and Winter Garden in Dowtown Toronto. Still gives me the 1930s theatre vibe feeling!๐Ÿค really amazing experience

This was my first experience at this theater. My family took me here for my 46th Birthday. Being a big dude I was a little bit concerned with the size of the seating as compared to places like the Meridian Hall. Turns out they do have ample seating for big people and they are very accommodating. The only frustration I had is when I went in they told me feel free to take photos. I like to remember events that I attend whenever the opportunity arises. I took maybe 10 photos within half an hour. Then someone came up to me and asked me if I could stop taking so many photos even though I really wasn't taking very many. Again, they encouraged me that it was okay to take photos. So that was a bit frustrating but when I looked around and seen that nobody else was doing it, I put my camera away. Unfortunately I just don't have great eyesight and sometimes taking photos and looking back on them later is the way I experience things like this but it was still great!

Amazing experience. Saw the Wild Rovers here and it was wonderful. The stage is small but the use of space is perfect. The venue is decorated beautifully with stunning colours. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would love to return for another show!

The upper theatre is beautiful (if a little dated) Good seats and sightlines. However you have to go up many flights of stairs and escalators to get there. Making it an accessibility issue. There are a set of old employee operated elevators but with a large crowd you could be waiting a while.

Beautiful old theatre. All the seats have an excellent view of the stage, even the furthest from the stage. The seating is generously spaced and comfortable. Staff is friendly, professional and helpful.

The grandeur and scale of this place is simply unreplicable in photos. You have to be there to understand.

We saw Come From Away at the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre. What a gorgeous space! We were up on the mezzanine and it looked like there wasn't a bad seat in the house. Even though it was a large theatre, it felt very intimate. I hope to be back again to see another show in the future!

What a fabulous venue. The winter garden has to be my favourite theatre in the city. The backstage tour is so neat (what a transformation this place has gone under) and of course, the garden aesthetic is so neat to see. From that glowing moon to the vines on the ceiling to the lamps that light everything.

Just an absolutely amazing theatre! We came to see Come From Away a while back and the show, cast, and performance was astonishing. Hands down the best play Iโ€™ve ever seen but I have to mention the two theatres... Theyโ€™re beautiful works of art, the most unique theatres Iโ€™ve ever seen. Once itโ€™s safe to return, you bet I will be!

I went here with my family, kids aged 6 and 8, along with both sets of their grandparents. We saw a panto, Lil Red Robin Hood, and it was highly entertaining for everyone. Very high production values, the sets and costumes were amazing, and the singing and dancing were, as expected, very well performed. The Winter Garden Theatre itself is whimsical, feeling as if you are in a forest. Highly recommended.

The Elgin is an iconic institution located in downtown Toronto. It hosts various events from live theatre, music, to film. Visited it to see a TIFF flick and had a great time. Seats are spacious, plenty of leg room. There is a smell of fresh hipster musk and nostalgia upon entering the main theatre. The decor is classic North American urban 20th century grand theatre, similar to the greats in Detroit. Had a great experience and looking forward to going again.

The grandeur, the old world charm, the romantic fairytale like setting I canโ€™t praise this place enough! I loved it! Felt like I was part of an old Shakespearean play like Romeo and Juliette or a midsummer nights dream!

This may be the only double stage theatre in all of Canada. When you visit this place there is a beautiful theatre on the main floor. But there is also another theatre with its own stage on another level. Itโ€™s definitely a unique building filled with art and culture and beauty. Try to find time to check out one of their amazing productions, or just try to visit to sneak a peek at this architectural novelty.

The worse planning and execution. Instead of 8 pm, nothing was started until 90 minutes later. I bought a water bottle after staying in the line for 30 minutes, they closed the bar after the show started!!! And the sound quality was the worse.

Today was open doors day in Toronto. And this theater was opened their doors for free. Everybody need to visit this place. This is only one theatre in a world that had 2 theaters at one place. 1 at the top level of the building (beautiful decorated like summer theatre), and another one at the bottom of the building (beautiful in bordo colors).

I went to see Sousatzka at the Elgin theatre. Beautiful looking theatre. Sat in a balcony seat. Apart from the seats kind of shifting to the side, I was very comfortable. Affordable tickets and friendly staff who make you feel welcome. I hear anywhere you sit, you will surely see and hear everything!
