Came here with friends for some afternoon snacks, not really to drink, and the server seemed a bit annoyed by that. The food was hit or miss, and very tiny portions for a high price. The Reuben sandwich was probably the best tasting thing I had. The Korean fried chicken and general TSO-fu was ok. The Bao and eggplant sandwich were ok too according to my friends. There wasn't really anything to justify the price... The kitchen was not connected to the dining/bar area so the server had to carry them from outside which was a bit strange to me. Note that this is a small bar and is best to only go with a smaller group, and if you plan to drink AND if you've eaten already or plan to eat a meal elsewhere

My partner Tom and I have been going to this place for about 6 years. Our experience at 416 Snack Bar has always been exceptional. From the moment we walk in, the guys at the door are professional and friendly. The servers, bartenders, and managers are always accommodating and friendly. We respect all the workers there as they take the time to remember our sitting, food and beverage preferences and expectations, "Down to the T"! Now that is what you call "Service Excellence." They understand the "Moments of Truth" in the restaurant industry! Kudos to all the bartenders for their hard work. If you pay attention, observe their performance, and you will see how amazing they can manage to keep up with the number of drinks with such speed and accuracy. On top of that, they also take food orders, give excellent recommendations and share friendly conversations. The servers are on point, efficient and friendly. They do their best to get the food and beverage on your table as fast as possible. Remind you that this place can be really busy, and as customers, we understand that we need to be patient and understanding. Not many customers get to meet the chefs at the "Back of House," and I had the opportunity to do this in the past as I am a firm believer in appreciating the people behind the kitchen who work tirelessly to deliver delicious and creative food that adds value to our dining experience. There's a reason why 416 Snack Bar is always busy. It has "magic" that creates a unique environment to bring people together to enjoy diverse food and drinks with a fantastic vibe! People come here to be entertained, and the team behind 416 Snack Bar has been doing a phenomenal job. We are thankful to the entire team, past and present, for their fantastic service and simply being good people! Thank you to Taylor, Shade, Jake, G, Abby, Mike, Jenny, Kate, Justin, Sveto, Shane, Angel, Daniel, Curtis, Kyle and many more. Bravo to Adrian and Dave, alongside Chef Gallagher, as the creative geniuses who started this wonderful gem in the heart of Toronto! 416 Snack Bar Rocks!

I hadn’t been to this place since Covid. Everything is as great as I remembered. The menu has many of the same dishes I loved when I first came here back in 2015. Each dish was full of flavour. Everything we had was perfect. The octos bravas and Bo La lait were new dishes for me, both amazing. Service was very attentive, and the ambience is great in there. Perfect date spot. The bartender was very helpful and efficient.

Getting delivery during covid times, 416 Snack Bar has done an amazing job with secure packing and perfect cook times (cooking + delivery can result in overcooked food or soggy stuff) 👍 I ordered from them a few times with consistent quality. The very generous small Caesar salad was delicious and enjoyed homemade dressing. I had the gnocchi with meat sauce and it was so hearty and warming for the freezing cold winter 🥶 The yellow dragon fruit + elegant Maldon salt + mint was 😘 I used the extra mint and popped it in with my ice water. And last but not least, their house made chocolate bar was INSANELY GOOD. Order it once, and after you try it, you’ll understand why you have to try this scrumptious, lush, messy magic 🪄

Made the mistake of coming here for dinner, my bad, so be careful not to, on top of it being solely a tapas bar, both their drinks and food menu was very limited. Was especially disappointed with their drinks menu because as a bar, why is it limited? We had the Korean fried chicken, the oysters and another “Argentinian” dish they had as a special, nothing special. The service was inconsistent. Our waiter was great and informative, but the server/host with a yellow beanie treated us like we don’t speak or something, pointing us to a table, tossing the menu, and then grabbing it away. Insane behaviour. The environment is very intimate though and I can understand why groups of friends would want to dine here. Overall, been to better tapas bars, disappointed and won’t be back.

My bf and I always pass by this place and noticed is always so lit - thought we should give it a try which we did. I love the vibe here and the food is pretty good. Oysters not too fresh but it wasn't bad. Other dishes were pretty good but do not wow me. And they only served classic cocktails and no menu for them which I think is lacking.

Found this place by chance and it really is a hidden gem! Firstly, everyone who works there are so friendly. The food came out so quickly I couldn’t believe it, and it tasted amazing!! I tried the steak tartare (it was so good that I ordered another round of these), argentinian BBQ, east coast cocktail oysters, steamed pork bun (also so good that I ordered more!) and a reuben sandwich. Everything was fresh and delicious, highly recommend coming here.

Not too much selection on drinks but their small bites had pretty bold flavours. Decently priced and it gets so busy in the evenings. Don't come hungry though!

As someone who really enjoys variety, 416 is the ideal restaurant for me. Prices are quite reasonable, there’s good variety and the menu has an array of tastes and textures. Love the Asian influences behind several of the plates. I really wanted to try everything on the menu so I’ll definitely be back. Highlights for me were the general tso fu, octos bravas and foie gras torchon. The tofu was perfectly crispy on the outside and silky smooth on the inside, with a really savoury sauce. The octos bravas had a great range of tastes and textures, and the foie gras on toast is always rich and delicious.

Just discovered this cozy bar and loving it! The food is delicious and the service is super friendly and chill. The cocktails are a bit pricier compared to the food menu. It's a great place both for a date or going out with friends.

Food - Indulging in the culinary offerings of this establishment was a delightful experience. The menu, designed for communal enjoyment, presented a plethora of delectable options. Our selections included the Bò Lá Lốt, a nostalgic taste reminiscent of home, accompanied by a sauce that ingeniously elevated the familiar dish. The Reuben sandwich, while maintaining its tasty and classic essence, for me the standout dish of the night – the foie gras torchon. A symphony of unique flavors, it claimed the title of my favorite. Service - On a Wednesday evening, sans reservation, we were promptly seated amidst the dinner crowd, a testament to the efficiency of the staff. Greeted warmly, our waiter exhibited profound knowledge of the menu, guiding us through recommendations with finesse. Despite the increasing influx of patrons, the attentive service never wavered. The swift delivery of our dishes further accentuated the overall positive dining experience. Ambiance - Stepping into the venue, a dimly lit and intimate ambiance enveloped us, creating a mood that was both enchanting and slightly snug – an understandable compromise in a smaller space. Despite the cozy quarters, the atmosphere facilitated natural conversation, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the dining experience. However, it's worth noting that accessibility may pose a challenge for those in wheelchairs due to a step at the entrance. Overall -For those seeking a culinary journey that leans towards the lighter side without compromising on variety, this establishment is a commendable choice. With a menu designed for sharing, an attentive staff, and an intimate ambiance, it offers a well-rounded dining experience that caters to both the palate and the desire for a convivial atmosphere. I wholeheartedly recommend it to those in search of a tasteful and enjoyable culinary adventure.

A great hidden gem. Had the Korean fried chicken, tempura, steak tartare, and foie gras! Service was attentive and helpful, and space was dark and moody. It got busy really quickly when it opened at 5, and stayed busy until we left!

The vibe was really nice and chic, but the food and the service were actually terrible. The food did not look like the pictures and the taste was off by a lot; tar tar was missing ingredients and not fresh, did not look appealing at all either & Korean fried chicken had too much ginger that wasn’t even cooked through, it was overpowering the entire dish. Their wine glasses were dirty and they had bugs under the table. The waiter was rude and hasty, she even tried to sneak in extra things on our bill, we didn’t even notice until the next day that we were overcharged, trying to figure that out. Who knows if they’ll even own up to this. WOULD NEVER GO BACK, this place is overhyped and less than mid. It’s ONE OF THE WORST bars I’ve been to in Toronto.

Came by this place around 8:30 in the night. Tried a few places before this but out of all my options this was on of my favourite places because of the Vibe, the Food and the Ambiance. Very important to me. The food were all finger-food type! Take a friend, just sit down, relax and enjoy this place! LOVE IT.

This place has a very nice atmosphere to it with the music being played, candles on the tables and overall cozy feel of the place. The drinks were really well made and tasted great albeit kind of pricey, though that's to be expected in Toronto. Food however I'm slightly conflicted on, the portions are very small however the food tastes incredible. My only gripe is that the servers are walking on the Toronto sidewalks bringing the food from their kitchen down the road which felt very unsanitary.

Tapas for the win! 416 Snack Bar is a great spot for eats, drinks and a lot of fun. It’s a cozy environment with a diverse crowd and great music. I love the steak tartare, eggplant double down and the lamb. So much flavour and all in a few bites. If you’re looking for a fun night out on the town, look no further!

A great late night spot, open til 2am, 7 days a week. The food is always fun, delicious and creative. No cutlery makes for a fun dining experience. My friend an I were moved to make space for a larger group. It was a little difficult to hear each other between the chatter and music, but that did not take away from the experience as a whole. There was a slight mixup and delay with the food, but a few of the items were voluntarily comped, which was a nice surprise. We've been here before and will definitely visit again.

My husband and I were in search of a restaurant that closes late and served food past 10pm. We drove around Queen West and found 416 snack bar. Love the ambience, staff was amazing and attentive and just the overall vibe of bar was very nice. NOTE: this is a SNACK bar, don’t expect them to serve full size meals here. Expect more of a tapas style servings. Upon arrival, we chose our own table and a waiter came to drop off a QR menu to us and served us water. Vaccination receipts were checked. We tried the Korea fried chicken , smashed cucumbers, Rueben sandwich and the beef tartare, everything was delicious. Not one single bad thing I could say about the dishes. Also, the prices were reasonable, the tapas range from $6-$15. There is no cocktail menu, you tell the waitress/waiter what you like and they’ll tell you if the bartender can make it. The cocktail staples they serve when I was there were: cosmo, amaretto sour and the Moscow mule. Cocktails are around $13 each class. Honestly, not bad for downtown. I’ll definitely be back with lots of friends next time!

Nice ambience for a date. Portion sizes were perfect, great menu selection and variety of creative Asian fusion dishes on offer. Highlights were definitely the fois gras, eggplant double down and the steak tartare! Thought the cocktail that was made for me was a bit average. Overall would visit again and we found it easy to get a table as we went early (before 6).

Very good experience with tasty food. The portions were very small and rather expensive, especially a singular slice of tomato that was simply fried with a sauce (it was good, don't get my wrong) for over $6. Overall we enjoyed it and the service was very good.

So good I forgot to take photos of my food. Delicious plates and yummy drinks in a stylish funky atmosphere with A+ service. Good value compared to other small plates/tapas restaurants.

This place has a serious reputation and I came with lofty expectations. Ambience, tick. Drinks list, tick. Food menu, a lingering question mark for me. We ordered the steak tartare, lobster roll, eggplant sandwich and foie gras, all solid but nothing special.

Food is good and the servings were fine for shared plates. It can get loud here so if you want an intimate setting this isn’t it.

  • 5/5 Amy 5 months ago on Google
Ordered almost everything on the menu, and the steak tartare, lamb, and foie gras were definitely the highlights! Only downside was that it was extremely loud and difficult to have conversations/hear what my friends were saying.

Not the best bar you can go to in Toronto, especially for the price. The service is not great and food isn’t spectacular. It’s on the louder side but definitely no problems with that especially since the music is not bad. Pros: Great DJ, good atmosphere with candles. Cons: Service is not great, waited a while for a table. Waiters seem incredible busy and unhappy to be there. Food is ok - definitely not the best you can do for the price. Drinks are also just ok. I mean it’s at least better than Warehouse but wouldn’t recommend and probably won’t come back again.

My goodness! How cute is this sink?! It’s the perfect little receptacle to pee in as long as you have a reasonable volume of urine. Also, fun graffiti on the walls to read! A great sink pissing locale!!

Food was excellent. Arrived here on a Friday night at 7pm, table of 4, we were able to eat and share our way through the menu. I will get it out of the way right away, the only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because the cocktail menu is non-existent (they only serve classics - gnt, old fashions, etc.) and there weren't many wines by the glass, although the Blood Brothers Cherry Sour was amazing. The corn elotes was an absolute hit (we ordered a second round we enjoyed it that much) as well as the argentinian beef. The tofu was nice and crispy and slathered in sticky sauce. The beef tartare was very good, although a bit simple in flavour. The tomato toast is what it is, but a very good version of it. I really enjoyed the sauce on the muu bing, and the pork schnitzel (daily special for 9/04) was actually exceptional with the sauce gribiche. The pork steam buns (bao) had very good flavour, although the bun was a bit dense. The crunchy cucumber salad has a bit of kick, and was seasoned and dressed very well. Only one dessert on the menu, a very decadent version of a snickers bar, cutely named the Snackers Bar (get it ...416 snack bar). I will definitely return.

Our dinner there was amazing! We had one night in Toronto and decided to find a restaurant while walking. We passed in front and one of the staff welcomed us and started to explain the concept of Snack Bar (food they enjoyed when they were kids & represented Toronto). We did NOT regret going there! Small plates meant to be shared — all of them really good and well prepared! They also have a great wine list — even some for Canada. Service was chill and friendly (which is what we wanted). We really enjoyed being there :)

Fantastic place to eat, drink, and awesome ambiance. We got the Korean fried chicken, eggplant sangwich, and their chocolate bar that they made. All 3 were insanely good. I rarely review places nevermind this good — if you’re looking for a place to go to and spend some good time (with great music) this is it!

  • 5/5 Catherine C. 2 years ago on Google
Dim bar ambiance, with candles and some neon lights. It is an intimate space with limited seating. They have a large drink menu. Service was great, and waiters were very attentive. Tapas style small plates, but loud and complex flavours. Especially loved the steak tartare, octo bravas, miso-mustard gyuniku, and squash fritters. Flavours and textures were all so different from each other! The falafel doubledown was a mini burger but with falafel as the buns, which I found unique! The Korean fried chicken was alright, but was served to us lukewarm and the sauce coating the chicken didn’t seem that special - the sauce was a bit gingery similar to the sauce coating the squash fritters, but wasn’t as flavourful.

Solid snack bar in the heart of Queen west - and priced accordingly so plan your budget ahead of time. Could’ve done without the oysters and shrimp cocktail, but the Reuben was well done, very tasty, the beef tartare was good, and the not-pictured braised ribs were spicy and special. Good drinks too.

  • 5/5 Ash J. 2 years ago on Google
A special nondescript spot with great small bites and a wide selection of drinks. As the name implies there's only small plates here but they are very reasonably priced, and if you combine several of them you'll end up with a pretty filling meal. There's no utensils so be warned that certain dishes can get a bit messy. The food is fun because it spans many different cuisines - i had general tso tofu, eggplant parmesan sandwich, trinidadian doubles and an indian style aloo (potato) chaat. Excellent vegetarian selections. There's one dessert item currently and that's a custom chocolate bar they make called the snackers. There's tons of drink options - I stuck to the cocktails, for which they have no menu. Instead you can ask the staff for what type of drink you're craving and they'll make something that matches your description. The manager gave us a couple of great drinks - a jungle bird and a modified daiquiri - both were delicious! A big part that added to the experience was how friendly the staff, especially the manager (who is waiting tables and taking orders too) is. His drink recommendations were great and he took time to explain all ingredients in the cocktails and even the proportions. A final note on how great the vibe and ambiance is. It's a great date spot with dim lighting, and a candle on each table. The music fit perfectly (anderson paak mostly, some kendrick) with the overall vibe of the place. Note that the place is pretty small and most tables are for 2

I don't think I expected to like this place as much as I did... Generally these small tapas style places downtown are underwhelming and expensive. I'll have to say 416 Snack Bar exceeded my expectations. We ordered the following for four girls to share: Steak Tartare (x2), General Tso Fu, Korean Fried Chicken (x2), Mini Mac (special of the day, x4). This is exactly what I would recommend to a group of four looking to have a light dinner. The portion was perfect. My favorite item was probably the General Tso Fu, which I was surprised about. It was super crispy and the sauce was delicious. The Korean fried chicken is also great value and I'm sure not many people visit this place without ordering the steak tartare. We each spent $23 including tax and tip, which I think is extremely reasonable for a downtown restaurant. We didn't order any drinks since we were headed to a bar afterwards, but adding $10 for a drink I think I still would've been quite satisfied.

"Korean fried chicken," $9 & the "Summer chopped hand salad," $6 were delicious 😋 great late night snacks with drinks... an awesome date night spot. Friendly service (a little slow) quite crowded but a lovely patio to make up for it. We did have to wait in line before being seated, but well worth the wait. Can't wait to go again 😋

Great place for meeting with friends to share some food and experience some great drinks. Buddies and I spent the weekend in Toronto and decided to try this place out on Sunday night since it was packed the Friday and Saturday. Needless to say we tried every item on the menu and had nothing but good things to say about every dish. I think we all agreed it was our favourite spot for food and drinks!

Knowing the reputation of this place I am truly disappointed with my experience a few days ago. As we know, it’s not all about the food and beverages but also the service and experience. Sadly, the latter was really sub par to my expectations. The server seemed very hostile from the beginning — maybe it was a rough day. But we had nothing to do with it. As the night came to an end it just escalated to the point where upon me asking if we would gonna get the cocktail that was on our bill we had received over 20 mins ago the waitress started calling me passive aggressive and asked if I’m having a bad day. I don’t know why being polite these days is automatically considered as someone attacking you. Safe to say the night ended not the way one would imagine. That aside… the fried chicken had too much fat but the eggplant sandwich was decent. I did enjoy the tartare though and for that I’d come back.

First time back at this spot since the pandemic, and 416 has not forgotten how to provide a wonderful night out! Delicious eclectic small plates (the tofu is not to be missed), amazing attentive service (thanks John - you were awesome!) and urban vibes (a bit loud and buzzy in the evening but not unmanageable). Great spot for a date!

Service and Atmosphere is top notch for sure! Some of the dishes are a bit overpriced for what it was but the drinks were great. I loved the eggplant sandwich. The handroll and wonton dumplings were just okay.

Super cute little hole in the wall type of bar. The food is absolutely delicious and not overwhelming with to many choices. They have some super cool in house made drinks. Great selection of wine. The atmosphere is very chill. Open late and serves food late as well.

Awesome ambience! Drinks are reasonably priced, music is great, food options are good quick bites to keep your settled. It’s a small space so when we got there it was full but they managed to squeeze the 2 of us in between two other groups but that added to the cozy feel. Will definitely go back.
