It's a beautiful place! Super warm in there so dress in layers if you're coming in the winter as the parking lot is a walk from the doors. It's a bit pricy considering how fast you go through it. Probably would spend more time in there if it weren't for having to wear a mask in such a hot room, but we do love it there.

The conservatory is beautiful. The butterflies are active. Getting to see so many different species is wonderful. The scavenger hunt for them is sweet. I’d love if the finding all of them meant the child earned a small souvenir. It was VERY crowded when we were there. Most people were masked, but some were not. Overall it was a beautiful place and the staff were helpful and polite. Worth the ticket price for sure.

After experiencing the mighty power of the Falls, this is a very peaceful place to unwind. There are hundreds of beautiful butterflies 🦋 flying around here in a beautiful tropical paradise. It is quite warm and humid here so it creates quite the juxtaposition from outside in the Winter or even early Spring. It is great that you can take as much time here as you like. Kids love running around here trying to figure out creative ways to attract butterflies to land on them with varying degrees of success. The hatchery area is fascinating with so many butterflies at different stages of development. There are always staff members there to answer questions too.

A very nice place to watch butterflies. It is tropically warm inside, so you better should dress accordingly. There are many different species of butterflies to admire. It was very crowded and I would have thought it would have been better if the flow of visitors had been regulated somehow. It would also be good if someone from the staff would explain when you enter how you as a visitor should behave towards the butterflies. Overall a great experience.

Since we had a wonder pass they just ushered us in without explaining anything. There is a coat area but I think you have to ask for it. It is very warm once you go in with the butterflies. It's nice to just find a place to sit and watch as the butterflies dance around you. Be ready because they will most likely land on you. Butterflies like bright colours, so if you want them to land on you try to dress for it. We lucked out and didn't have to wait but it can get busy and there was a line as we were leaving. Might be good if you get there early. You can walk around as many times as you like but once you leave to the gift shop it is done. Take lots of pictures and just take it all in. This attraction is one of my favorites when going to Niagara falls.

This is lovely place to hang out even winter time... it has very lush garden with thousands of butterflies. The blue ones catches my attention. 😊 There is a window spot for larvae and caterpillars too. I'm amazed of the feeding plates with cut up fruits for them. Lots of parking. We purchase the entrance cost 25 dollars for adult and 17 for kids 5 to 12 yrs old. This includes 3 tourist spot activities. Butterfly garden, The journey behind the falls and the Niagara's fury. We enjoyed it. I highly recommend it for tourists.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff! I had a blast here and look forward to many more visits. Plenty of parking and it was nice to have a spot to hang your coat since it's 26c/80f in the butterfly area! I went early and didn't have to wait but it did start filling up quick. Be sure to watch your step while walking around!

1st timer, What a magical place to visit! Check in was fairly simple we had passes. Ms Debbie was the sweetest! I love butterflies but never thought to even visit a place full of them. The introduction video was so well needed and educational and I loved that! Entering the exhibit is overwhelming in the best way!!! Omg I can picture myself there all over again. They have created such a beautiful haven for these butterflies to live their lives. Fresh air, fresh plants and water. So many different species and so many butterflies!!! A few actually landed on me which made my heart smile. This is a place you have to experience, Well worth this visit!! 100000/10 highly recommend. Thank you Butterfly conservatory for this memorable experience, I hope to see you again.

This was such a fun experience for my daughter. While at first I thought it was a little bit expensive, they didn’t put a cap on the time we could stay. And the staff were super helpful and abundant. They even opened up the nearly hatched butterfly area for my daughter. It was really a magical place! Ticket purchases was made super quick and easy and parking was a 2 minute walk away and abundant.

Such a fun place to visit during a visit to Niagara. The conservatory is located in the same area as Great Wolf Lodge and the Niagara botanical garden. Entering into the area, you watch a 5min video on the exhibit and how to handle a butterfly if one should land on you and not to touch and handle them ect. I love the fact that this can be a family activity, but I couldn't help cringing a bit seeing how some little ones were handling them. I understand that this would be difficult to monitor though. The temperature inside is about 27 degrees Celsius so just make sure to dress appropriately. They seem to be attracted to light and bright colours. The waterfall area and the life cycle window were definitely a highlight. If you buy tickets in advance DON'T get the parking day pass unless you find that you will be using it throughout the day... It's not worth it and confusing as there is a green P parking area in their parking lot. I could see this getting busy during peak tourist times but if you go in the off season it should be fine. Overall worth the visit compared to most Niagara attractions. 🦋

Really neat place with a unique experience having butterflies land on you. Gets very crowded but you can do it over and over again. Been here many times and will come back again. I am tired of Niagara Parks sucking every dollar out of people with parking. One parking pass should cover all Niagara parks for the day. I Spent $50 just parking.

  • 5/5 Will B. 9 months ago on Google
We came a bit late and were only able to spend an hour or so at the conservatory. No group discounts. The place was very hot and humid. The butterflies were awesome and we got a bunch of cool pictures. I'll post some here. The staff was reasonably polite. It was an overall great experience. I've found a place of Zen here with butterflies. I would recommend this place for everyone to experience :)

15 dollars for parking plus 16.50 for admission is a little much when they push you through so your in and out in 15 minutes. I understand precautions over covid but come on dont RIP us off

Had a Great time. One of the destination activities my husband and I visited here during our honeymoon, as newlyweds of course. The butterflies are absolutely beautiful. I was at a butterfly conservatory many years ago, as a young girl, and got to have a butterfly on my hand. Unfortunately...the butterflies weren't as desiring to approach Me...BUT one did land on my husband's head, and another on another man's back. Proceed with caution as you're walking on the stones, as some butterflies like to land there also.

I absolutely loved this place!! Very pretty and lots of room for these little butterflies! Very beautiful! When I went it was alittle crowded and almost no social distancing but I was too focused on how beautiful everything was! We also went on this amazing carriage ride and that was worth the money and time! It was amazing! ❤

I have seen many places like this but it feel good differently 😊 If you are in Niagara falls, you should go and visit this awesome conservatory 🌸

Wonderful place. So many varieties of butterflies. Lush garden absolutely amazing for being the kids on a discovery tour or for photographers or just to relax it’s lil bit far from Niagara center but worth the trip and there is a convenient bus that goes the conservatory I believe twice an hour. Def highly recommended

A Beautiful place where butterflies are cultivated. Fly about in a climate controlled setting. You walk amongst them in a garden full of their favorite flowers. If you are lucky, and still enough, they will land upon you. Watch in awe and amazement as these wonderful creatures move about amongst visitors, and themselves. A very interesting and informative short film gives you a quick lesson on their life cycle, and feeding habits before you are introduced to their environment.

What an experience! Went to Niagara Falls for some hiking. We realized the conservatory was just down the street and so it was decided we would take a look. The tickets are 17 dollars and there isn't really a time limit for how long you can stay which was nice. Inside it is nice and toasty, there is lots of tropical greenery and many exotic flowers. Of course the place was swarming with butterflies which was incredibly beautiful! I felt like a princess seeing those colorful butterflies fly around and even land on me! I also found a pair of beautiful butterfly earrings in the gift shop. In addition, staff was friendly and helpful. The only thing that was a little annoying was the fact that the conservatory was packed with other people, maybe they should have like a maximum number of viewers at a time to keep the place calmer and safer for the butterflies 🦋

A beautiful escape! I felt like a kid again. It is warm and humid inside - wear layers if it is cold outside. The parking machine did not work with my credit card and luckily I was able to pay for parking online. It is quite small inside and you will find yourself having gone through in no time. Watch out for butterflies resting on the ground, although I'm not sure if you could easily step on one accidentally.

Just beautiful. If you live in Ontario, it's definitely one of those places you absolutely have to see once, but will probably not go again for a long time. If you're a photographer and love butterflies though, you'll probably find yourself here a lot. There are butterflies EVERYWHERE. I thought the $17/p admission fee was a bit steep but I was in town with my wife and knew it was worth every penny soon as I stepped foot into the conservatory. It was a bit cramped when busy but you'll definitely want to go if you have at least 2 hours.

Butterflies everywhere! The Butterfly Conservatory is amazing! Worth a trip if you're in the area. Don't throw up on the long winding road that leads to it! The gift shop has tons of unique items. Your picture is taken on a green screen upon arrival. The staff then superimposes butterflies onto your hands. You can buy the photograph in the gift shop after you have finished walking through.

This was a lovely relaxing experience. The butterflies were beautiful and active. Many landing on visitors which made for lovely photos. We had a wonderful time from beginning to end of our visit. Staff are lovely and helpful. We especially enjoyed the lovely gardens with it's beautiful plots of roses and Horticulture Lecture Hall. Definitely worth the visit for a bit of fresh air and to enjoy the lovely summer day. ☀️

It’s a exquisitely peaceful place. You will enter into a paradise, where you feel like seeing different colourful beautiful souls of butterflies flying around you. On other side of a coin, it’s sadly we are seeing these beautiful souls in the conservative house instead in nature. This is due to man made destruction to the nature like pollution, deforestation and radiation. You can see some other gardens around like rose garden and some plants with medical values. Overall very good place to visit.

This is an enjoy place to visit while at Niagara Falls. If you need a little time to escape the action of the more tourist locations, this is a good option. Low key, fun for all ages, interesting and just an enjoyable place. A 15 minutes drive from the falls and well worth the trip.

An amazing experience and activity for all ages. Closer to the end of summer it is not that humid inside and easy to enjoy the butterflies. Wait time on weekdays is close to none and isn’t so busy. Ticket prices $20 CAD which is decent given it’s in a tourist area. Kids will definitely enjoy all the butterflies, a beautiful scene to witness. Staff is there to answer any questions. Butterflies may land on you (which is awesome) or if you put your hand out they might come to your hand. You can easily spend 30-45 minutes here. There is a small section where you will see eggs and see butterflies hatch. There are benches to sit if you get tired or just want to sit and enjoy the sight.

It was absolutely fabulous. I would have liked a little briefing of the rules as I've experienced in other butterfly gardens like: Don't touch the butterflies, especially their wings Try to watch your step as butterflies land on the ground occasionally And try not to rustle the plants too much It was a little crowded and if you don't like many children around, I'd go during the week. However, super glad we went and we did have a wonderful time.

The butterflies are gorgeous, obviously, but the plants here are unbelievable. I've never seen most of them before coming here. I can't believe how big some of the plants are and have weird, in a cool way, the flowers are. It's absolutely incredible

Beautiful butterfly conservatory! One-way paths to walk along due to covid, so felt somewhat short, but enjoyed the greenery and variety of butterflies. Went with a 2.5 year old who was a bit too young to appreciate- so would recommend to adults and families with older children. Only pay for 1 hour parking as you will likely be in and out in way less time.

First time visit and impressed with how well they adapted to the current conditions. One way walk through with the option to reenter if you'd like...which we did in an attempt to get photos of the gorgeous blue butterflies which seem to need very little rest!

Recently visited again the Butterfly Conservatory at Niagara. Butterfly Conservatory is next to the Botanical garden. It's feels so good to see hundreds of beautiful and colorful butterflies flying around you. Seems like one in a Tropical Jungle filled with lush green plants. Hot and humid inside, naturally ideal atmosphere for butterflies. If stay still, we may saw a butterfly is sitting on our hands or shoulders. I recommend to visit it and see the beauty of the nature.

First time going to the butterfly conservatory and it was beautiful. Great place to bring children; to be frontline with Mother Nature. But unfortunately the worst customer service ever. As I walked in with my family, I was not greeted at all. I had to second guess myself, thinking I was in the wrong place. Lane which is apparently the supervisor asked my family their ages for the prices as I’m counting she interrupted with a unpleasant tone how much. I responded I’m counting. Than stated to her this is not how you greet customers and that she is really unprofessional. I even gave her an example “ hello welcome to butterfly conservatory, how am I help you?” Which is the professional way. Lane was the worse interaction I’ve had visiting any facility with my family.

LOVE THIS PLACE! I don’t think I’ve been this excited since I was 9 years old at Disneyland! There are countless butterflies of all colors and sizes and they are so friendly; they land on you and come along for the ride. There’s so many beautiful tropical plants and a little waterfall. I’m already excited to visit again! Parking was easy, everyone has to wear masks, you have to keep going in one direction but you can re-enter and repeat it all if you want.

Such a wonderful and beautiful place to spend the day. I had such an incredible time here. As we wntered the butterflies conservatory I felt a little anxious as I didn’t want to hurt such fragile and beautiful creatures but as beautiful and sweet as they are they can fly amazingly and will glide toward and flutter round your head. Some will even land right on you. You can let them on to your hand if they want to, let them sit on you as they only have a short life experience, holding them was a privilege I’d love to do again. You get well educated by the guides and staff also present during you beautiful walk around the grounds. You’ll spend a while here for sure!! Amazing place!!

Small area. 30-45 minutes max. Maintained well and beautiful. The information booklet given at the ticketing counter is quite useful. Didn't like the fact that there was no one to observe two children running around like maniacs cupping large butterflies in their palms and harming them 😭 Could not take it anymore and called out the two kids as the parents obviously had no control of them running around inconveniencing the other visitors and harming the butterflies. Covid times and less staff to keep an eye out for unruly children I guess but the innocent butterflies should not be harmed.

No doubt one of the must visit places in the Niagara region of tours. Entering the Conservatory immediately drops you into tropical climate and habitat but also a splendor or colours and beauty with butterflies everywhere. They are quite friendly and so you may very well find yourself supporting and transporting them during your tour. During COVID times so protocols are in place but hardly a distraction from the wonders of habitat. Tour is short but nothing stops you from doing it again and again like I did since once is never enough. Certainly a pleasant and worthy experience that should be enjoyed by all.

Beautiful place to visit. Butterflies are flying all around you, and it makes you feel like you’re in a fairytale. Sometimes they land on you and it’s totally amazing! Lots of people complained in the reviews that it’s humid - and yes, it’s humid there, but the climate is definitely made for butterflies to live there, so I was no complaining, but respected the environment. There were some kids who tried to catch the butterflies, and their parents even didn’t say them anything. So, if you have small kids who misbehave, you better avoid visiting this place, don’t stress the butterflies, respect the nature.

It was awesome! I can spend all day watching them. Exceed my expectations. It was a great experience. There were so many butterflies that will come and sit to your hands. Really enjoyed! Only thing I want to say to visitors that people need to watch out while walking. I found some people walking and not watching. Some butterflies lying on the floor and people stepped over them without knowing. It broke my heart. PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN WALKING. Highly recommended.

Big conservatory. Big crowds. Lots of people so the butterflies seem quite spooked. There were a lot of dead butterflies pretty much everywhere. The area was beautiful though. Many gorgeous plants and tended for. Great for photos. I loved that they had the photo opp for purchase.

It was about $40 for me and my boyfriend but honestly it was totally worth it. It takes about 20 minutes to walk through if you stop and take pictures/look at the landed butterflies. The hatching butterflies were so beautiful. There was a gardener who was working and he was doing his best to trim any plants that weren't needed and pick up whatever hurt/dead butterflies he could. Its not as hot as everyone complains about and the butterflies are super photogenic!

  • 4/5 Link L. 2 years ago on Google
Came here because admission is included in the Niagara falls' Wonder Pass. We went in with very low expectation but came out pleasantly surprised. The conservatory is filled with many different kinds of butterflies, and although it didn't take more than 20 minutes to walk through the whole thing, but it's worthwhile if you don't have to pay for the admission separately.

Our visit to the butterfly conservatory was part of our falls pass. It was more informative and entertaining than I had imagined and the number of butterflies you get to interact with was awesome. Take your time reading the signs in the first room before heading to the butterflies and you’ll be rewarded for your new knowledge immediately as you watch the different butterflies at the conservatory. Very clean. Very pretty. See pictures or see it yourself :)

Great way to spend an hour or so, especially when paired with a walk through the gardens. So many butterflies to see! Just be careful when walking around as many of them like to land on the ground and “puddle”. It’s very hot inside so you will not need a jacket or sweatshirt most likely. The conservatory is in a bit of a loop, which you can repeat. Lots of seating everywhere so guests can admire the butterfly world. Would definitely come back.

This is a beautiful butterfly sanctuary. There are thousands of beautiful butterflies everywhere, the vegetation is vast. We could have just stood in there for hours (if I didn’t get so warm from the humidity so quickly haha). I recommend this experience and if you have time to wander around the park that’s with the conservatory, I recommend doing that as well. A nice nature activity where you can observe many species of butterflies that aren’t native to here.

Really fun seeing so many butterflies. Many beautiful species that you don’t see in Michigan. Unfortunately, was very crowded but nothing that the business can do about that. The gardens are free and the rose garden was stunning.

The most beautiful attraction ever! So many different species of butterflies! The humidity is nice and makes you feel like your in the tropics. I would say it gets a bit crowded as well, so maybe don't go first thing in the morning

Gorgeous! My first time visiting the conservatory and it truly is an experience that you won't get somewhere else. There are so many butterflies that they warn you to watch where you step, and each one is even more beautiful than the last! The whole building is get humid, and a bit warm so be prepared/wary of that! Lots of kids, elderly, and families as I visited on Mother's Day but it wasn't busy enough to be unable to walk and me and my group had a fantastic visit. Definitely recommend for those that want to experience it! We even had a few land on us!

Awesome experience with the beautiful butterflies. Colourful environment. Very nice place to be with your family specially with kids. The Butterfly conservation has its own pay parking and there is entry fee. They have a neat and clean washroom. There is a wonderful Butterfly 🦋 merchandise shop where you can buy any gifts for your family and friends. If you go to Niagra you must visit this place. It's 5 🌟

2.5 stars. The butterflies were cool to see flying around and often landed on people. There was an interesting welcoming video which taught a lot about the conservatory. The glass room housing all the butterflies had many many interesting tropical plants, which was very cool. Only 2.5 stars because it was ~$40 for two people and there wasn’t much to do there. Seeing all there is to see takes about 10-15 minutes. Far too overpriced.

Ok, I will admit this was not on my list of places to visit. We started by having lunch at the small cafe. It was around $60 for four people. Bit pricey but food was good. Then we headed to the conservatory. And WOW! The amount of butterflies was amazing. One of the best items to do with your adventure pass. But be sure to get the “plus” level or you will need to pay extra. Butterflies everywhere. All different colors and sizes.

Kids had a great time! We ended up having some butterflies land on us which is always a sweet moment. Inside was a little humid but not unbearable seeing as we were in tank tops and dresses.

There are so many beautiful butterflies.. it was lovely. The place is maintained well & requires you to purchase tickets. The only downside was that some people try to catch the butterflies to take pictures - that was really sad to watch.

If you love flowers and nature, then this place is for you. The most beautiful, serene part of the Botanical Garden for me was the roses. So many unique blossoms and colors and it's all free. The only part that has an admission fee is the butterfly conservatory.

Very fun visit. Butterflies land on your body as you walk around. We spent about 30 minutes or so. Many different and colorful types of butterflies in a natural habitat.

It was a bit crowded but very much worth it. This is definitely a must-see and was one of my family's favorite places to visit while in Canada. It's a really amazing & beautiful experience! Wear white to attract the butterflies.

very fun and beautiful experience. highly recommend going at least once. the butterflies sometimes land on you, which makes for amazing pictures. only concern is that dead/unealthy looking butterflies are somewhat common but i suppose thats to be expected. the gardens are also worth checking out. I recommend dressing light, wearing comfortable shoes, and bringing water to stay hydrated

Beautiful place. More than 40 Butterfly species 🦋 roaming freely. They land on some people. Wear bright colours. Great learning experience. Lots of tropical plants. Warm inside at about 27 degrees Celsius. Kids and adults will love it. Gift shop and outside walking areas. Parking $5/hr. Happy place. Bring your camera or sketchbook.

A fantastic experience for all ages. Anyone interested in either botany (study of plants )or entomology( the study of insects) will thoroughly enjoy this establishment. Tons of tropical plants in a naturalistic setting and a multitude of butterfly species to behold as well. Everyone should visit this place at least once. A nice variety of items available in their gift shop to remember you visit with. People friendly, hard working and knowledgeable staff members. There was plenty of parking available as well. Bathrooms available for public use. Even the grounds outside were nice landscaped and maintained. Extremely impressed by my visit.

Went on the Civic Holiday weekend in 2023. Had been there twice before and always a joy to visit. Hundreds, maybe thousands of butterflies in this large conservatory. It was quite crowded the weekend we went and I wished that they would have issued schedule time entry tickets to manage the crowds. Having been there previously during winter and early spring, the experience is vastly different and more meditative with fewer people between you and the butterflies. Nonetheless, it's a charming experience that both adults and children will love. There's something about a butterfly landing on you or a family member that makes everyone deliriously giddy and take a photo!. Many different species of butterflies from small to huge. I don't recall seeing a photo or legend of the different species, but I probably missed itml. Would budget at least an hour to an hour and a half in the conservatory. The surrounding Botanical gardens are beautiful as well - there beautiful flowers, fruit and veggies growing if you explore a bit. You can easily spend another 1.5 to 3 hours exploring the garden too.

Very pretty small location but lots of variety. I bit small for wheel chairs or strollers but is accessible. Lots to learn, see and enjoy and walking the grounds is recommended for the spring, summer and fall. You do have to pay for parking which is not ridiculous but it's an extra cost we weren't expecting. Also being so close to the border put your phone airplane mode you do roam being so close

A must-see exhibit! Hundreds of butterflies flying around. Beautiful gardens with a tranquil vibe. Very warm and humid inside so dress accordingly. Path is quite narrow but accessible to strollers and wheelchairs. Weekdays are best.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Butterfly Conservatory. We have never seen an exhibit like this. It's very well done and easy to get around. The beauty of the butterflies captured the attention of all the visitors. Young and old from all nations. The butterfly provided an environment of peace and harmony.

Wonderful place to spend sometime before the spectacular view of Niagara falls. Colorful butterflies all around. And if you are lucky then some of them can land on you. ❤️❤️❤️

We love butterflies and this place was great! It had about 12 different varieties, but it seemed like so much more. Tons of butterfly every where. Nice water feature , beautiful plants and flowers . The little one had a great time looking for different butterflies. It was clean. The only turn off was an employee at the candy shop . He was not welcoming , very rude !! No customer service whatsoever.
