Very good Chinese vegetarian restaurant. Food tastes light and right. Lot of variety, even Japanese sushi. The fried rice and fried noodles are very good. The soup is just ok only. The restaurant is big. Came on a weekend, and it is 60% or 70% full. Deco is cozy, clean and tidy. Lot of parking spaces. Highly recommended for vegetarian.

I would say the food are decent, but before pandemic, they used to have a lot more variety and options. My favorite vegetarian Sashimi is no longer available, and the service and atmosphere is not there. They place is hot and they didn't turn on the A/C , there are 5 tables with customers yet they didn't turn any lights on at all. I love vegetarian food, but I will not come back for the super high price with zero service and poor atmosphere.

If you are vegan/vegetarian but don't want to lose out on authentic flavors Zen Gardens is the place for you.. We liked the atmosphere the food very much. Service can be bit slow and they don't come ask you about the food or if we need anymore unless you call them, but with current scenario I can live with it. We ordered few soups, appetizers and main course dishes. Overall food was really flavourful and right amount of spiciness whee the dish said it will be spicy.

I wanted to try this place for vegan Chinese food. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice with friendly staff. They have a collection of different teas for sale apart from the dining. I tried a takeout of the bbq seitan based on the number of positive reviews it has. The price was $18 plus tax. Taste was okay but not so great as described by other reviewers. Though it says bbq and have their own sauce for it, it’s nowhere close to being a smoky flavoured bbq. It’s just a sweet sauce that is similar to honey based sauces. While it was juicy and tasted good, it was deep fried in oil. The portion size is small for a 20$ item. It barely satisfied any hunger and could have been 15$ max incl tax. Also, going vegan doesn’t necessarily need to be healthy and environmental friendly and this item is the best example of having so much sugars, deep fried in oil and being soy only product that induces wrong hormones in the body. There are other types of proteins that are being engineered out of plant based products not just soy/tofu and these vegan restaurants can try them too. We may be doing a favour to the environment by not eating meat but in the process destroying our own health isn’t the way to do. Overall, I give the restaurant and friendliness of staff a 4 star but if the ‘vegan’ term refers to only soy based imitation of meats then it’s a 1 star.

Terrible experience, Terrible customer service, food not tasty at all! DO NOT COME HERE, PERIOD! Even if you don't like the food, they apparently have a policy that they won't return the food even if you don't like it, they don't care. Stay away from the seitan platter (tastes gross) and the eggplant casserole!

This is a wonderful place for delicious and healthy food! I've been here multiple times now. I often bring people for a peaceful meal or a high quality Teas. They dont rush you at all. Quiet and peaceful environment. Very kind and patient staff. Interestingly... using no onions or garlic, the flavours are so much lighter and refreshing. There is a variety of Chinese dishes you dont see often. They also do cCompletely Vegan Mooncakes every year near the harvest moon (late august to early September). You can call ahead and prepay for boxes of high quality traditional Mooncakes without any animal products.

Food tasted good as usual. Thank goodness. The menu has dropped some fav dishes. The service staff was abrupt and discourteous - to the point of rude. We had a group of 5 but added one more when the second group joined. The staff was flustered about seating us though the restaurant was 50% empty with 3 tables for 8 people vacant and without reservation sign. They kept pushing some of the more expensive dishes- casseroles with king mushroom- which none of us had liked in our previous visit. We had to be very firm in asking them to back off on suggestions. My husband and I would have left without eating but my in-laws (both in their 80s) were with us. Maybe Covid has changed the restaurant staff courtesy rules...

This is a great place for vegetarians amd vegans! Lot of options. It's so rare to find an Asian (Japanese,Chinese n misc cuisine) restaurant which is almost completely vegetarian. We tried the miso soup (without dashi/fish) with silken tofu and seaweed. It was warm. We also tried dimsum (so soft!) , sweet n sour bites with pineapple, soy nuggets were crispy...sushi was not personally our favorite..we tried mango sushi and didn't like it as it was sticky and smelly ( that's how it's supposed to be though). Radish cake and udon noodles were also nice. Quantity and price was reasonable. Must try if you are a vegetarian or newly vegan and love to explore other cuisine.

10/10 restaurant definitely one of my favourites. My boyfriend took me to try the food in March 2021 and we keep coming back. The bbq seitan and veggie fried rice taste amazing. Every time we try new dish, never disappoints! Customer service is very nice and follow COVID protocol as well. Can’t wait to dine in since we’ve been eating the car lol

I ordered a couple of dishes including the sushi platter for take away and it was great! The sushi was really good and I would definitely recommend it! I loved the tofu one and the avocado one was great as well. Overall really enjoyed the food!

This a lovely place with delicious food! I strongly recommend it for any vegans/vegetarians in the area as well as anyone else who is looking for a great place to eat. Can’t wait to come back here and try more dishes and hopefully get to dine in.

Horrible restaurant and even worse customer service. The food is disgusting, the dumplings were cold, miso soup was filled with tofu, and the worst part was the “California roll” that was the absolute worst sushi I ever had. The rice was very over cooked, and there was too much rice and only avocado for California roll?! I only had one of the eight pieces and based on their policy they don’t take food back and was charged the full amount. Zero customer service and DO NOT recommend anyone go here.

The ladies that took my order over the phone were very friendly. The food was good vegetarian food, the textured vegetable protein always throws me because it tastes so similar to meat. Always get the sweet n sour “chicken” rice noodles and steamed dumplings.

Zen Gardens is one of the best vegetarian restaurants in the area. I’ve been dining here for many years and every experience has been peaceful, relaxing, and satisfying. Great atmosphere overall. Prices have definitely gone up post-pandemic, but that seems to be the case everywhere. The menu has also changed, but we were informed that this is the case because of Covid. The hot and sour soup + jasmine tea is delicious, and I love the crispy soy fritters, fried bean curd, and fried noodle dishes. We also purchased multiple boxes of the pineapple cake and were super impressed.

After doing takeouts due to COVID, I finally dined in with non a vegan visitor from out of town. Smaller menu but favourites are still there per my photo; salted veggie croquette, fry flat rice noodle with bean sprouts..., basil eggplant pot n kaikan with king mushroom. All done well. Service is not intrusive. The pandemic did change the restaurant business, especially vegan ones. Restaurants n customers got used to takeouts. My favourite in Markham closed recently. So let's be supportive!

I just left the restaurant and I had a great experience! This was my first time there and the food was amazing. As a vegan it’s hard to find food I can eat, or food that I want to eat. This was delicious. The portion sizes are great. The ambiance is great and the staff are all so friendly and polite. Being there made me feel so warm and happy. I can’t recommend this place enough. I will definitely be back! Thank you for your great service and food.

Loved the place and ambiance. Staff is friendly and food is delicious. I tried Barbecue Seitan which is really good and taste like juicy chicken. Dumplings are little bit on drier side a dip would make it more edible. It’s a bit pricer but worth to try

This is a true hidden gem of Chinese style vegan options. The restaurant is located in a far area of Mississauga. However, they offer perfect vegan options. We ordered siumai, hargow, and fried enoki mushrooms with sauce, white rice, hot and sour soup. They all tasted good. Hargow and siumai tasted perfect and too good to be true. They were even much better than the original ones. The most impressive main dish was the enoki mushroom. Enoki is covered with cripsy batter and seaweed, it was served with a special kind of sauce and gailan.

Zen Gardens is a beautiful vegetarian restaurant to visit. The atmosphere was relaxing, and they had a lot of variety on their menu. There are so many dishes I wanted to try! I ordered the salt and pepper fried tofu which was great. I also had the pine nut fried rice which was delicious. The service was incredible, very attentive staff. They are also selling moon cakes now which are a very tasty addition to the meal. I would highly recommend the moon cakes and the taro (or red bean) sesame ball.

We were curious to try out this vegan restaurant, so decided to stop by for lunch. We ordered a main course of Udon noodle soup, a sushi platter and schezwan style spicy tofu. The noodle soup tasted good, but the serving size was small compared to the price of the item. We wanted to share amongst ourselves and we were provided with tiny bowls to drink the soup out of. There was a handful of noodles at the bottom of the bowl. The sushi tasted good, but we found two pieces of plastic in it. The tofu dish was good, but the side-dish of rice was served in a really small bowl and we had to end up ordering another (tiny) bowl of rice to finish the gravy. We finished our meal with the feeling that we paid far too much for food that didn’t even fill our tummies.

Food delicious. Quiet location & due to the pandemic, they are still using single use utensil & plating (takeout boxes). Food really tasty & the quantity is ok. Price range is mid-pricey, but there is a good quantity of imitation meat in the food, which is an understandable price range. Definitely recommend this place, but the location is quiet odd, had to schedule some extra time to get there.

Being a vegetarian on 12th June I wanted to take out food at this restaurant. I looked at there menu and prices on line. I decided to go there and order it. What a surprise lady behind the counter told me that menu doesn't exist and she is not aware of it. When I showed her she denied it by saying she doesn't know who put on there website. Anyhow she also told me there is no take out menu and asked me to order it from their very pricey dine in menu and try to upsell me the dishes. I asked her if restaurant had Cantonese chow main and snd she pointed finger at menu and she said this is the one. So I ordered two items. Fried noodles at $14.99 and Kung Po soy Fritters for 19.99 plus tax. I got another surprise when I got home and looked at the noodels dish. It was just fried chow main not even close to Cantonese chow main dish as she explained. They give you very small quantity for the price they charge and food is taste less. I'll never visit this restaurant again

So if you are into Asian cuisine and are vegetarian this is the best place to go. Their entire menu is vegetarian with a variety of dishes. A few people in our group were trying Asian food for the first time so we ended up ordering a variety of appetizers. The dumplings were my favourite. We tried the spring rolls, a sushi platter, soy fritters. Hot and sour soup and miso soup. Everything was fresh and tasty. For our mains we tried the curry fried rice, curry noodles, chopsuey noodles, spicy tofu dishes, booked vegetables. All of them were very tasty. We lived their green tea so much that we bought a tin! Overall service was great, food was great and I would love to return!

One of my favourite restaurants in the GTA! The quality of their foods in unmatched and the service is great. Good place to go for sharing foods with families and big groups. Lots of choices in the menu and super suitable for someone who loves meat - tastes just like it but doesn't make you feel tired after eating too much! :) The BEST vegetarian restaurant in the area for sure!

Aside from the wait (waited at the door for a while to be seated before they even noticed us) the food was tasty and the service was good. At times it was hard to get the waitresses attention like when we wanted the bill but their courteousness and knowledge of the menu made up for it. We'll definitely have to go back and try more items on the menu!

Great food with such variety. My husband and I are not vegetarian, but we decided to try this place. We were pleasantly surprised with how flavourful the food was. We would recommend the following dishes: - black bean noodles with textured protein - sweet and sour lappa - hot and sour soup and wonton soup - fried rice with "salted fish" - barbecue seiten - my husband likes it but I didn't like the particular flavour - eggplant dish - good but too much sauce We would NOT recommend the following - "pekking duck" dish - way too oily with far too much batter - Har gow - missing flavour All other dishes were okay, probably would be better sharing with more than just 2 people.

Experienced horrible customer service here yesterday. We showed up at about 7:15 hoping to dine in. Not realizing they were takeout only, we still decided to get takeout. We walked in and the woman at the service register way at the back of the restaurant shouted, “no no why are you coming so late?!? The kitchen is going to close now!” I responded, “excuse me?”, because I could not believe what I had just heard and wanted her to repeat what she’d said. She then sighed, and, annoyed, said “Yeah okay just write down what you want to order, hurry up!” I was so shocked but because our options were limited, we still went ahead and ordered. We went to pay and we kindly asked when they thought they’d re-open for dine-in and that question seemed to bug them a whole lot. After paying, we were told it would be about 10 minutes, so we stood near the door of the restaurant, waiting. The old lady then shouted “NO NO you GO and come back! Go!”. I could not believe this, but since we had already paid for the food we had no choice but to commit to the purchase. The food was tasty and all but this experience left such a bad taste. There are thousands of restaurants in the GTA and we chose to support a local vegetarian one, only to be treated like a nuisance and burden. The front of the place said they closed at 9 and Google said 8, so we didn’t think coming at 7:15 would be so horrific. SORRY FOR MY BUSINESS, I guess???! Ew. Won’t be back.
