Great atmosphere, and good vibes. They really care about maintaining a great experience for everyone, and it shows in the details. They adjust the air conditioning as it gets busier, free cold water and clean cups are readily available, free coat check, lots of seating, clean washrooms, and friendly professional staff. The only downside was the volume. It was perfect at first, but later in the evening they turned it up and it became uncomfortably loud. Aside from that, I would highly recommend this as a great place to spend an evening out.

Best club in the city hands down! Always the warmest vibes without any negativity, everyone is super friendly and welcoming. If you want to enjoy well-curated bookings based on the quality of the music and not just the amount of followers an artist has, this is the place to be. A really unique and refreshing environment compared to the more generic/formulaic/pretentious social clubs neighbouring it. See my attached photo if you don't believe me. Special shoutout to Robyn and Dino for being the backbone of the whole experience.

Surprisingly friendly staff (bouncers, bartenders, host and coat check) free water, no pat downs, in and outs allowed. Drinks are fairly priced but do not order beer as its only a half pour for the price of a full. Go with mixed drinks. Lighting is great and the whole inside has a kind of "brutalism" minimalist vibe. They also do enforce the no phone policy which I love and there is no dress code. Only down side to this spot is that the bar and stage area are right beside the hallway entrances which makes it kinda awkward moving from lobby to dance floor or dance floor to bar etc. Highly recommended and look forward to my next trip there.

Nice place, laid-back, and intimate. Reminds me of StereoBar in Montreal but the crowd I saw last night was even more chill. I appreciate the no phones on the dance floor policy. They have a water station which I haven't seen in other clubs in the city. My friend and I both had a great time and would gladly go back.

This is what Toronto needed. A highly curated, crafted with detail, all about the music venue. No phones is a huge vibe - go 20 feet to the lobby if you want to use them no problem. Great to see this enforced constantly too. Gender neutral bathrooms are always clean, water station available, free coat check - and these are just the logistics. The vibe is on another level - truly underground. Immersive. Surrounded in people passionate about the music and the experience, both patrons and staff. The ticket checker, coat check ladies, and Queen of all trades manager, work so hard to put these events together, and it shows. The sound is the best in Toronto, up there with Stereo and Coda. Excited for v2, sad to see this space go away, despite it being too small to contain the magic in a bottle here. Hope they keep all the elements that made SD what it is today!

Super cool place. The lady at the front was a little condescending when we came up. Music was amazing though and the vibe is unreal. Wasn't too busy either for a Friday night. I really enjoy the no phone rule as well. Will be coming back for sure. Maybe pre book your tickets though it was 40 each at the door or bring cash.

Best spot for underground electronic music. Very very underground with an amazing vibe. The best part is there are no phones allowed on the floor, just dance and enjoy the moment. Water is free as well. Beautiful vibe and a great bar.

Come here with an open mind and immerse yourself in the music and atmosphere. This place offers such an amazing concept in this technology-driven/addiction era, where everyone should relearn how to be social with actual human beings. There is food here, small and big plates, and many drink selections including sake and beer.

This is probably the best-designed and run club in Toronto IMHO, every element of the experience was thought through and considered. Whoever designed this space is an expert, they took away everything annoying about the Toronto club scene and created a safe space to listen to music, hang out with people and dance. Pros: Serious air-conditioning system (you'll never get hot!) No cellphones (makes a huge difference!) Incredible sound system (Stereo Mtl. Level) Awesome DJ selection -- Music is loud, but not obnoxiously so Wrist bands for in/out access - (because who really wants a hand stamp?) Free and easily accessible water cooler (gotta stay fresh) Open, all gender neutral bathrooms--love the fact that the lighting isn't blinding like in other clubs, they're also super clean and the soap smells great. No annoying bottle service to contend with No crazy light shows - just very cool ambient light Drink cups have a slot on the bottom for your fingers = easier to hold Cups are also heavy plastic, so even if it dropped it won't f*ck anything up Floors are rubbery so you don't slip on anything and are perfect for dancing. Coat check is quick and easy All staff are super attentive and friendly The one thing I loved the most -- there was a lot of comfortable seating everywhere! It's kinda hard to explain, but the club is set up in a "choose your adventure" style. Whether it's chilling with a group at the back tables, alone at the bar or dancing/hanging out with friends on/around the dance floor, there's a place and speed for everyone. The only con was the drinks - we ordered vodka sodas, but nobody in our group could really figure out what was served, they were kinda gross. But then again, you're not really there for the drinks. This place is strictly come as you are with good vibes - something much needed in Toronto. Thanks for a memorable night, will be a regular spot for us.

I wanted to check this place out after the reviews and was unfortunately very disappointed with the fact that there were literally 4 people in the venue… we asked to speak to the owner and all she could say was β€œsorry”. No offer to have us come back on a busier day, made us pay cover and 5 minutes later we left. Never again!!!

I was there during the Easter Long Weekend so there wasn't a big crowd. Despite that, the vibes were on point: from the bouncer, to coat check attendant, barback and bartender: the staff were all very friendly. The bartender especially was lovely to chat with while I had a drink before I hit up the dance floor. They have a strict no-phones policy, much like a lot of the good clubs I visited while I was living in Berlin. The DJ was playing dope beats all night as the sleek, intimate venue bathed the patrons in ambient contrasting blue and red lights. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay till the end. My contact lenses were feeling dry a couple hours in, so I went to the washroom to remove them and soak them in solution before trying to put them back on. Sadly, my ratchet and clumsy self dropped one of the lenses on the floor. One of the poor staff members I bothered was actually courteous enough to help me look for the contact lens with no luck in the end. Attempting to dance half-blind while tipsy was not going well, so I decided to Uber myself home finally. Would def recommend trying out this place if you're into electronic music. I will probably bring some friends in the near future and I'm hoping there'll be a larger crowd to mix and mingle with then!

Wow. This place might be my favourite new club. Incredible music and atmosphere. PROS Coat check is free Atmosphere/decor is simple but amazingly efficient and well thought out (def gave me Blade runner vibes) Staff all wear suits (nice classy touch) Place is focused on music and socializing so the vibes feel less pretentious than other places DJs and music choice is always top notch Free cold water refilled all night CONS Drinks are a little pricey

Went for the 1 year anniversary. Dance floor area is rather small compared to the rest of the club, with a bar right in the middle and limiting dance floor space. With the dance floor being cramped, you may find yourself up against the wall, which is stucco (??) and very abrasive to skin/fabric. The drink menu is pretty basic, with standard bar rail at 10$; Considering most of their nights are ticketed, it is pretty overpriced even compared to most big name busy King St clubs. However, if you aren’t interesting in alcohol, they have self serve water that is very helpful and appreciated.

The place is a joke. There are only 20 people maximum dancing at most on a saturday night. There are 30 staff for 20 people πŸ˜‚ no joke. They stare at you at all time and really bothers you. Phones are also not allowed. The place is clean and breezy but the decoration is a disaster. It’s like they design the place in 5 minutes πŸ˜…. The entrance is expensive, really not a place to have fun and enjoy. I like the music tho.

Welcoming and good vibes. Felt bit loud, even my apple watch keep alerting for the high noise. Clean environment and friendly staff. Can use phones in lobby and not inside dance floor.

I love the music selection and no phone sounds cool in theory. But it starts to get annoying being told to put your phone away unless in the hallway. Meaning you can't have a drink while waiting on your friends to arrive which is annoying to say the least.

I already miss this place so much. What an unusual treat and gem on King St., West to find a true techno club. The staff are top notch, security dressed well and are polite and courteous (safety is top notch and free water) - especially Robyn who lives and breathes the place and takes care of it and her patrons as her own. Looking forward to Sub 2.0

The vibe is off and the space is cramped. Two of the staff stare over your shoulder when you pay by card while the machine gives you 18% tip as the lowest option on top of $40 cover. The owner gives off strict librarian vibes.

SUPER COOL UNDERGROUND SPACE!!! SD is definitely my top 3 places to dance in the city! Friendly vibes, amazing music, and just a fun experience overall. Respect to the staff, security, bartenders, and the DJs πŸͺ©

Dope venue, always great music, glad they got rid of the long table at the back, highly suggest they make seating on perimeter of room instead of splitting front and back dance floor. Hate location but also makes it an oasis in a sea of dreadful.

It's like going to your very own underground house party, where the best of artists from across the world play the music that you wish played more often across Toronto - House, Lofi, Minimal Techno, Downtempo. And yeah, no phones on the dancefloor and the best crowds you'll see in the city, who're all there solely for the music, and to dance all night.

The people at Sub Division clearly know what they are doing. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, tickets are reasonable and they support great underground talent. I totally agree with the no phone policy on the dance floor; it helps us to be present and enjoy the music. I would love to see some harder techno and acid house djs getting booked.

Great after hours atmosphere. No dress code and no phone policy. Bomb sound system and light set up. Drinks reasonably priced considering its located on king west.

Was very happy to hear about a place like Subdivision opening . It's a great place if you really want to dance and just enjoy the night to electronic , techno , house etc (depends on DJing playing that day). This place that encapsulates a very good ambience between people and space and it makes you feel really connected when you're on the dance floor . There's ample space to chill and vibe or to dance your heart away . I really like the no phone policy in the mainroom as it encourages you to dance and be present . This is not a place for people that don't enjoy the aforementioned music or spend their time mindlessly browsing their phone . Also , security is generally very nice , they serve free water and drinks and they also adjust the ventilation according to the temperature of the venue . So you will never feel to hot. If you're here to dance and have a good time , I'd highly recommend coming here . However again this is not a place for mindlessly idling and love matchmaking . For crying out loud the music is playing y'all should be dancing , you can always go out and reenter whenever you please to do those things . Cheers
