It’s close to kids beach, the Torquay lifesaving club, So u can bring ur kids to play there. Apart from enjoying the waves, the right side of surf beach are another beauty. You can see the rocks along the beach and of course be careful of the tiny rocks along the way. I do spent time walking along, stayed on the beach for sunbath and surfing, time flied. Found it’s getting more crowded around 5 to 6pm. More people coming to the beach and enjoy the swim.

Some really great waves and very suitable for novice to intermediate surfers, depending on the conditions. Plenty of car spaces, although it can get quite busy during the summer months. Showers are outside along with nearby changing rooms / toilet facilities. Dogs are allowed off leash during certain times of the year which is great. Surf hire and nearby food/drink is about a 10 minutes walk away from the beach.

It's fantastic to walk on the beach and watch kids and adults surfing on this chilly day in the ocean. There are some very nice spot view points on the cliff. When we head back to our car, there is a family grilling sausages and selling them with bread to surfers and tourists. I bought one for a taste, and it is so yummy.

One of the best surf beaches in VIc especially for beginners. The beach is protected from the swells with mostly great waves for learners and kids. A Bondi style setup makes this an awesome beach for the whole fam.

Scenic beach and dramatic coast lines. Must visit if you‘re in the area. Has a swell most days.

Connected by Public transport, it's a beautiful surf beach. One can hire surf costumes and board and practice in the water. If you want a lesson, make sure to reach there early morning, as the lessons get over by afternoon. Any tourist near by, it's a definite visit. Also, this a dog friendly beach.

Cool spot to surf for beginners and intermediate. Really big waves inbetween for the advanced. Clean facilities, clean beach, what more do you need?

I love where I live😁 what else can I say. Every changing with the seasons, but one thing is constant....the ocean, the people, & the walks

Went there on December. It is a nice beach and the waves are small. The only thing I didn't like is the big amount of sea weeds in the water and in the sand.

BE CAREFUL - SWIM WHERE THERE ARE LIFE GAURDS! I went for a surf, and decided to go deeper (past the waves to try, and catch bigger waves) a rip current took me deeper, and deeper. I couldn’t swim back, and because I was panicking, and swimming forward / the current taking me back as a result I wasn’t moving. I know you’re meant to swim sidewards to get out of the current but you get into panic mode. Then caught a wave back otherwise I probably would’ve drown if no wave could take me back, and if calling a life guard wasn’t an option. Try not to go past the big waves if you’re not so experienced.

A 🏄‍♂️ surfer's heaven. Ample parking facilities. Public toilets and showers spaces are available. Less crowded than the main beach

As you can see by the pictures this ones not to miss. Spent a lot of time down here and the vibe is great. Close enough to walk into town for a refill after surfing or beach activities. Camping close also. Nice sunrises to be seen if your up early enough. There are a couple of pubs close by also so its great for an afternoon surf and a beer later on.

Torquay Back Beach, also known as the Surf Beach, is accessible from two car parks, the main one on the left and smaller one next to the river. If wanting sustenance or a caffeine hit pre/post surfing/exercising, be sure to visit the Third Wave Kiosk in the central car park. This beach is the perfect place to learn to surf, with surf schools operating in the area. You may also be interested in the Suring Museum located nearby. Torquay Surf Life Saving Club patrols the front and back beaches, and their headquarters are at this beach. For those wanting to stay close by, the Torquay Foreshore Caravan Park is the most immediate accommodation and very popular with travellers. There are plenty of hotels and other accommodation, which can get pricey in the warmer months. Spring Creek River next to the smaller car park, connects with the Surf Coast Walking Paths and you may even see some people fishing here. You can walk to the Rocky Point Lookout [replaced in 2015] or around the cliff base, from the back beach when it is low tide. There is a timeshare system for those with dogs - check the signs to be safe and know where and when dogs can roam free or on a leash. There are poo bag dispensers around most beaches, but to be safe, bring your own to clean up after your dog. Finally, Torquay Back Beach is a great place to photograph landscapes and sport. Bring a hat, insect repellant and sunscreen to be safe from sunburn and sandfly bites.
