Accessibility: this park is accessible for wheelchairs and others as there is disabled parking, paved parking lots and sidewalks. The benches to sit on/near are in the grass however. This park is big in size but it is more spread out than a lot of other parks in Escondido/North County. It has a tennis court, skate park(you have to pay for a membership to use), a pond, Queen Califia's Magical Garden, Frisbee golf, and lots of grass fields for sports events. Open to the public there are two small playgrounds, bathrooms in small buildings, benches here-and-there in the grass, and lots of trees with tons of shade. There is a creek going through the park but it is dried up. This is a beautiful place to take photos. Safety: I would consider this an okay, safe area, but only during the day and in the most open places. On smaller, more hidden areas such as walking to Queen Califia's Magical Garden, it is very hidden so I recommend going with other people and only going during the day. Even during day hours I have come across groups of people lingering on those hidden trails so please watch your surroundings always. There are park rangers working that check the grounds but they cannot be everywhere at all times. Proximity: this park is right next to the mall so if you are able to walk, you can go from this park to the mall.

We could have spent all day at Kit Carson Park!! See below for all notes on individual areas. 📍3333 Bear Valley Pkwy, Escondido, CA 92025 🚙Plenty of free parking in large parking lots (some of which is covered with solar panels) 💰This park is free 🎠There are 2 separate play structures by tree lake which are both built on a mulch ground surface. The larger playground has standard swings and the smaller one has bucket swings. There are also more stand-alone standard swings over by the frisbee golf fields. There isn’t any shade coverings over the structures or swings so be sure to use sun protective measures! (I made sure my son was covered but I got fried 😬) 🗿Queen Califia’s Magical Sculpture Garden was closed when we went. So if you want to see these eclectic art pieces: It is open on Tues & Thurs from 9am-12pm & on 2nd & 4th Sat from 9am-2pm 🚽Restrooms located at the playgrounds by Tree Lake, at the Tennis Center, and two more by the frisbee golf 🧺Multiple picnic tables under pavilions, gazebos, and other areas around the park 🍔Charcoal grills 🪑Park benches at playground 🌇Scenic city views from the trails 🖼Large lawn 🌳Shady trees by the playgrounds and frisbee golf areas 🌟Clean grounds 🛣Far from busy roads 🥾Dirt trails that connect to the paved loop. We saw a coyote cross the trail and go into the bushes so keep your animals close! 🚲Paved paths perfect for bikes, scooters, roller blades, and strollers 🦆Duck pond is between the tennis courts, sculpture garden, and frisbee golf ⚾️A TON of baseball fields 🎾Tennis courts (probably some of the nicest courts I’ve seen at a public park! The landscaping around them is so pretty!) 🥏Frisbee golf (this is where the large snake sculpture is) The following areas are gated and may require admission. Check the website for information (sportscenter.escondido.org): 🛹Skate park ⚽️Soccer fields 🏒Hockey arena 🏟Amphitheater

Great park with all sorts of exercise and recreation options. Kept pretty clean, even the restrooms are decent, as far as public restrooms go. Lots of people walking their dogs, and there are lots of stations with baggies, so you can pick up after them. Several miles of walking/running paths, some cement, some dirt, some gravel. All pretty well maintained. Some of the dirt paths do get rutted from the rain, so you need to watch your step in certain spots. Overall, a great feature of Escondido!

Queen Califia is closed during this time due to Covid19 but we're able to walk around and up to the View Point house (faster if you walk up from the pond). It has some good dirt trails for biking too. Good shade for most of the park. You don't have to park your car at the rec center in front, you can drive inside. There's also 2 playgrounds near the baseball field and Tennis courts near the duck pond.

Very large park, with many activities. Don't miss Queen Califa magical gardens (very limited hours, so check ahead). Great place for families , frisbee golf, hiking, and all around relaxing. This park is a gem.

Came here is my husband and son for a walk in the evening before sunset. It was busy in a good way. I like to see people out and about outside in the fresh air. Lots of disc golfers and dogs. The smell though is hard to miss. I can’t pin point what it is but almost like sewage. Maybe it was the duck ponds but it was everywhere

Absolutely astonishing complex. Execellent greenary everywhere. Traffic is intense at times but when you have 100 team mega tournaments, it flows better than most places. An array of benches, table benches, toys, barbecues, and water features to boot. Shade almost everywhere. And most importantly, wheelchair access to all fields, bathrooms, and any area worthy of people.

Beautiful park! There are lakes that you can go to and feed the ducks. Nice trails and great outdoor. We came in to check Queen califia's magical circle. However, they are only open two days out of the week on Tuesday and Thursday. Lots of things to do for the family.

It's a fairly big park with plenty of spaces to sit or walk. The playground is in fair shape, and so are the bathrooms (not too bad). I saw a lot of insects and I'm not into insects, but it is outdoors in nature so I can't really expect no bugs or anything. Just know, if you go, expect things crawling and flying near you (if you sit of course, if not you're good). I like it though, if you live in the area and want a relaxing place I recommend it.

I love this park! It's clean and well taken care of. There are miles of walking and biking paths. Plenty of picnic tables and bathrooms. There is a pond where you can feed the ducks but no fishing. Oh....and there is a full 18 hole Disc Golf course that is FREE to play! There is much more to this park, from organized sports to tennis to workout stations. This is a great place for the family!

Absolutely beautiful park with a bunch of physical activities to partake in. I found Eagle Scout Lake to be especially awesome in that all projects within in this area was done by a scout earning their elevation to Eagle Scout.

A lovely, spacious park. I take my children often to see all the great wildlife. There are great sculptures and lots of places for a nice picnic.

Local disc golf course with wildlife spectators. Competition level and fun to play. Well manicured, but watch out for the squirrels. They've been rumored to run off with a disc on occasion.

Went to a birthday here. It was nice under the big picnic area. Lots of shade for a hot day.

My son and I always enjoy bringing the car to the weekly meetup at this park. The people are friendly and respectful. There's also a playground for the kids as well has a tennis court, batting cages, baseball fields and walking trails.

Nice large park with lots of things. Trails, skateboard park, Frisbee golf, pond with ducks, youth soccer / football / baseball fields, outdoor stage shows in the summer from a local Playhouse, big park with ample multiple parking lots.

Kit Carson is a very nice and well kept disc golf course. It's also a public park. And on some days those two things don't match. I would advise not to try and play disc golf here on Sundays. Or at least go early in the morning, because the park gets so crowded with families it's almost impossible to even throw your disk at certain holes. We had to skip a section of three holes just cuz there was so many people. And that's not a problem, I'm not complaining, just make sure you go early so you can avoid this. The park has multiple terrains, grass/tree and dirt/brush. Lots of challenging holes at least 1 hole at 500+ft with lots of open space. Love this park, just dislike having to share it with the rest of the public. There's also a small pro shop here with a great selection of disc's for purchase.

Park is nice and huge with nice shades trail. There is discs park as well which is fun. Only that some targets are closer to creek and discs getting into water isn’t fun. If you go on Tuesday and Thursday you can enter into Queen Califa’s Magical Park which is amazing.
