I'm a NAVY VETERAN, formerly with NMCB 23 DET ZERO ONE LITTLE CREEK VA. Way back in 2001 I had my 2 weeks of AT at the CBC. I LEARNED A LOT, AND HAD A GREAT TIME DRIVING DOWN TO LA. AWSOME SHIPMATES! And nice people there in Southern California! Makes me almost want to RE-ENLIST, but I'm too old, and NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT, so unfortunately that won't be happening anytime soon! CAN DO! WE BUILD! WE FIGHT! CE3 MADISON IS OSCAR ALHPA OSCAR!

When I went to school here I trained on a D-9 dozer, they go up to D-14 for ore.

It has inexpensive gas that's decent and you can shop at the store and it's big like Walmart.

This review is of the non-military aspects of the station. Very nice naval base in an excellent location. Very good facilities (NEX, Commissary, etc.). Scenic, nicely maintained golf course. Obviously not up to Air Force base standards, but definitely in the top quartile of Naval facilities (from my experience). A key drawback I noted was the Bard Road gate, which appears to be permanently closed. This has the effect of discouraging physical activity, since it is the closest pedestrian gate to family housing. Consequently, rather than providing a short and convenient pedestrian walkway to nearby shops and restaurants outside the gate, residents effectively are encouraged to drive (yes, yes, budget pressures, security concerns, etc., aka excuses). Also, it would be nice if the music for morning colors and evening taps could be synced a little better (I don’t feel that so many separately disparate sound broadcasts are really necessary for effective colors.

Really nice camp ground, I didn't mind taking a navy shower, what really pissed me of is they watered the golf course every day ,I just did think it was right asking the campers to conserve water and waste water on grass.
