I stayed with purple nest hostel for two nights, both nights the room was not stuffy and it was cool. (good sleeping temperature) When you check in they give you a key card and fresh sheets for your bed. The bathrooms and showers are clean. They also were able to store our suitcases before and after checking in and out. The staff here was absolutely incredible. Very kind and spoke a good base of English too! I somehow managed to drop my wallet on our way to leave Valencia. I panicked and called them and they told me they found it and would hold it for me while I come back. It was a miracle and I am forever grateful. All in all purple nest hostel was a great, cheap, and easy option for young adults wanting to travel!

I stayed here for 3 nights in a 6 bed dorm with 3 friends. My room was nice with large windows, but the bathrooms were pretty basic. Great value and the bar / common room downstairs is great and spacious. The kitchen is extremely nice! But! We did not have running water for the last 2 nights. The solution of the staff was to just head to their other 'red nest' hotel to go to the toilet and take a shower and they did not offer any refund or discount, or a move to the hostel with running water. The staff was friendly, but this did ruin the last 2 days of our stay here. Edit for response: It was not a few hours issue. This started during the afternoon of 19-12-2022 and it was not fixed when we checked out on 20-12-2022.

My first time as a solo traveler staying in a hostel, it was incredible. The rooms are not dull (they actually put efforts into the dorm), the staff was friendly and always with a smile, the community area had a good vibe. Overall a very nice experience

The atmosphere at the Purple Nest is the reason why I keep coming back. Plus, the staffs willingness to go the extra mile adds to the allure. The the kitchen is large and clean and the sitting areas are wide enough for work or study related matters. The hostel is more of a relax vibe and it would suit those who are searching for peace. There are various rooms, but I would recommend the eight, six and four bed dorms. The building is also in the center of Valencia which is excellent. Buses and metros are only a few minutes away. No hostel is perfect and I do hope the owner or owners continue to finds ways to improve the building. Ultimately is the guests that make the hostel shine and in the Purple, the guests are friendly and welcoming. As I have mentioned above, atmosphere is key. This is the reason why I would gladly recommend the Purple to anyone traveling. I hope whomever reads this will also find their experience there as good as mine. Happy traveling. :)

location was great. close to things but in a quieter area. lots of wheelchair accessible bathrooms and accommodations in this hostel. service was great. only 4 stars for room la because the beds squeak soooo loud. i think because they have metal base boards under the mattresses which i’m not sure is normal. wish they also had curtains. tons of nice travelers at this hostel. kitchen staff was also super friendly and really nice too!

Location is great- close to city and old town. Rooms and bathrooms are basic but fine for short stay. Advertised as having aircon but it's only in certain hours. I asked a staff member to turn mine on (in a private room) and was told no- only in the hours they have set so perhaps don't advertise it as air-conditioned. My floor was noisy throughout the night, people definitely weren't respectful of 'quiet hours'.

We had bad luck: apparently the bar needed maintenance. It was closed for the whole month according to the staff. We weren't informed about this, otherwise we would have picked another hostel. There was no atmosphere in the common room. The first days there were like a 100 children in the hostel. This was very inconvenient if you are a traveller who likes to meet other travellers. It was packed with children. Terrible. We weren't informed about this either, otherwise, again, we would have picked another hostel. But if the bar is open and there are no children, it could be fun. Unfortunately the hostel couldn't provide us that.

Truly a great place! Everything was kept neatly clean, the room service was excellent, the food filling & tasty. My friends and I were able to meet some really fun people there so I definitely recommend you check it out next time you’re planing on staying in Valencia.

Unfortunately our stay at Purple Nest was ruined by the fact that there is ACTUALLY no air conditioning, despite them claiming they do. I know it may not seem like a big deal but there is literally no air flow in the dorms or bathrooms which means you are guaranteed to be drenched in your own sweat 24/7. If there is no air conditioning/air conditioning isn’t working, or it is too much of a cost to the hostel, then be honest with your guests and USE FANS. When we had asks the staff to please turn the aircon on for our room, they would always say they had but really, it never got turned on! One night when my friend and I had already asked to have the aircon turned on and we were told that it was, we checked the room 30 mins later and it was still disgustingly hot. So we went back downstairs to ask again and to mention we had already asked for it to be turned on, and one of the male staff was extremely rude. Me and everyone else in my room could not get a good nights sleep with the unbearable heat/mugginess in the room. Also, to top this off, I woke up with bed bug bites all over my body. Disgusting. The place was very sloppily cleaned. This is extremely disappointing as when you first arrive, it seems like a decent hostel but as the nights went by, we realised otherwise.

First time staying in a hostel and I loved it. For 30 euros a night I don't think you could find a better location and services. Staff was super friendly, the facilities are very nice for the price, and the bottom floor was super lively with games and lots of other interesting travelers to meet. Highly recommend.

It was super friendly hostel. They welcome you even if you arrive early in the morning. Store your luggage before and after check in. Rooms and bathrooms were clean.

I had a private room, and it was absolutely lovely. The staff were very patient with me when I was trying to speak Spanish (I'm not very good at it yet). They were extremely helpful to me and the location is fantastic. Great place!

Ideal place for a short break. we lived on the 5th floor in a separate room with a large terrace and a beautiful view. On the ground floor there is a kitchen where you can cook your own food. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help. We will definitely return.

It's a popular place and close to the main attractions, has good meetings, events. It has a great kitchen for preparing food. The kitchen is extremely nice, equipped with tools and gears. You'll also find a fancy little bar in the hostel with a large "Dining room" or foyer. The design & concept is a really cool. A Great thing that you can work or chat in the foyer very casually. And I would like to emphasize: The Staff is very VERY nice and absolutely helpful! But 3 stars. I'm sad to say, almost two! The weak point is the hygiene: the shower, the rooms, the bunk beds. The intimate parts of the concept. Probably the private rooms get different reviews - it's about the dorms and showers. {I would like to give a hint to the owner : Just spend 2 nights in one dorm.} The shower It has no hanger inside. Very embarrassing. Only two units of shower has been built on the "men's side". It means that the morning is not your typical shower time. The rooms The rooms feel a bit cramped and have a barrack feeling. They are well maintained and relatively clean, although I only saw a brush one time in action, & I didn't see the floor mopped for 5 days. The beds .. The beds are creaking sometimes ... Very much close to each other & there are no curtains on the beds... This means that if someone is sick or snoring – the vibe {mood} is not really good in the rooms : If someone coughs they will cough into your bed! 60cm is nothing for the distance. Noise, Flu... Totally unhigenic. Plus : Metal locker doors under the bed! Sure thing: some clanking noise & other clashes in the midnight/morning if someone uses them. But these things can be endured . Dust The main issue, the top is coming here: Getting a Furry Dusty Blanket without a cover with just a bedsheet? My every stuff would be dusty and full of lint. Totally unhigenic. II Still after Pandemic? In 2023? Guys......Horrible! Questionable Features No hangers in rooms. No hangers in the shower, inside! WiFi was really slow. ??? Why why why? For these reasons I would recommend another Hostel in the city! Maybe not so fancy & trendy but more comfortable/ useful and more over! - hygienic.. BTW If you are a party animal, coming only for 1 or 2 nights, and have "one bubble" in the same room – it's OK for you.

My average price per night was approx 14 euros. The service of the staff was good. I felt like they cared about their jobs. The hostal was clean. One issue I noticed quite a lot was that the toilet roll mechanism would jam multiple times and therfore you weren't able to get any of the eco-friendly toilet paper out. Also saying you use "eco-friendly" toilet paper feels a bit like "greenwashing" considering all your guests have travelled hundreds of miles, mostly using aeroplanes to get to your hostal.

The hostel was an okay experience. We had a decent stay and it was in a great location. I had some issues with one of the staff members, she wasn't very nice and not super inviting. But the other staff were very kind. Loved the bartender, she was very sweet. The atmosphere of the hostel was great, especially with the bar. It is a great place to meet other travelers. The only problem was that the reception floor kind of had a toilet and pee smell. The one big issue that i had with this hostel was the lack of toilet paper in the bathrooms. One of the stalls was filled with toilet paper but the holder was broken and we couldn't get any paper out. The other stall had zero and i couldn't find staff to let them know. I also heard a few people doing the deed a few times and it was a bit uncomfortable. It was definitely a great place to stay besides the issues that i stated above.

I only stayed a night, but the location was great and it seemed like a lot of fun! The rooms were basic and clean. Friendly staff, smooth check-in and check out. Good water pressure and heat in the showers. For those who like to sleep a bit early, it can be pretty noisy.

Loved this hostel! I came with my bike and they made sure that my bags and bike were safe, very nice and helpful staff. Location is amazing, right in the centre. Would 100% recommend!

This hostel has the most helpful staff you will find anywhere. I bought a pair of Sony wf xm5 earphones the day before arriving at this hostel. I dropped one through the elevator shaft and presumed it had been lost forever. I mentioned it to staff, expecting little to no response. An hour later one of the receptionists arrived at my room with the missing earbud. I have travelled all over Europe, Asia, Australia and the USA, and no hostel has been as helpful as this one. The staff here are a credit to the owners, I would recommend this hostel for everything and everyone. Thank you again!!!

Great hostel, clean, very social, really good walking tour of Valencia and friendly reception. However the rooms can be slightly noisey if you fancy sleeping before 12 also slightly expensive for what it is

unfortunately I do not feel to give a positive review because we had various issues just arrived at the hostel. First of all they decided to divide our group (we were 3), although I had made a unique reservation in one room. They told us that because of the lack of availability they had to divide us into mixed dormitories. We had also paid a very high price for a hostel (40 euros) just to be together, but we were told that they could not do anything. Rooms are clean, but very small and all with shared bathroom. Location is good. sincerely with 40 euros I would have included breakfast.

**Response for reply below; You are responsible to make sure your partners are selling the correct rooms, they bring in a majority of hotels/hostels revenue, you do also need to reply to your customers in a timely manner when they are seeking clarification about bookings, the really strange thing about this situation was, I booked 2 x separate bookings for the exact same room but you/your system allocated me to 2 x different rooms, it’s very clear and obvious you could make more money for the room I booked based on the public holiday, and if not, why did you not contact me about the overpayment for the incorrect room? All the best for the greedy business model. Be very careful booking this place through a third party example: Agoda, Expedia…especially if there is a public holiday/weekend during your booking. You will not be allocated the room you think you’ve paid for. You could be sharing with 6 others instead of getting the private room that you have paid for. They can make very big €€€ when there is a public holiday or weekend surge price, and will sell the booked room to someone else. Best to call them and get them to put in writing to you what your confirmed booking room is. I recommend doing this before arriving anytime that you book this place. Do not try to contact them through the third party provider, they simply won’t respond to you. Whatever you do, do not book this place through Agoda.

We had the room on the top top floor. Although the lift stops at the floor below but the few stairs are worth the climb for a great view and a cozy room. This was one of the more professional hostels I have seen.

Had a great time in this hostel. The staff is superfriendly and helpful (reception 24h). Hostel, room, bed - all clean. It was nice atmosphere there with other travellers hanging around. There is kitchen where you can cook and keep your staff. You can also keep your luggage in the luggae room in case you arrive earlier/need to leave later. There is also a cool terrace. Location of this hostel is really convenient, close to centre, walking 5mins from the main squares. Carrfour is like 3mins. There is a bus 32 to rhe beach in front of the hostel, it takes 30-40mins to get there. Thank you!

We stayed in a private room for two nights. There is no way to control the air conditioning, and sometimes it would just not switch on whilst being in the room so we would be sweating in the heat the whole time. The door to the bathroom did not close. Apart from that, we had a terrible experience and I really hope it does not happen ever again. On our first night, around 2 am whilst we were sleeping, we heard screaming in the hallway and the police had a key to enter our room and asked whilst shining a light in our face if we had seen a guy they were looking for. In the morning the receptionist did not know or do anything about this. Truly traumatising, never returning here again.

The service was terrible, really disorganized. They charged us twice for the reservation as the group arrived separately and when we found out we complained, said they would see what had happened. The following day I went to ask about the progress and they said they had returned the money but they couldnt find the copy to show as proof. After 15 mins of waiting they showed the copy Besides that, they wouldnt give my friend back the deposit for the room key as some had already checked out and according to them they had already given back the money. With this i can say the hostel was not well organized and lacked standarization of internal processes. In the reception there was always at least 3 people waiting The good thing is that the room was clean and the location is good.

Amazing welcoming hostel that creates community! Very central location near the old city. I was a solo female traveler and met so many new people. Also, I lost my phone and the wonderful receptionists helped me call my phone and talk to the person who picked up my phone, who then came to the hostel to return it to me. Valencia is full of warm and kind people and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my two days traveling through.

Had an awesome stay! Staff were great and very helpful. Great bar area to socialise and activities to meet new people. Highly recommend. The rooms at times were a little dirty and the shower was clogged in the en-suite which was sort of annoying but nevertheless, easy fixes. Hats off to the staff! :)

Nice public areas. However, room is not as good as it seems on the webpage. Lighting is horrible and hairs on towels. But the bed is really nice and good to sleep in

For a budget hostel, it was great. We stayed in a 4 person dorm and it was exactly as we expected from looking at the pics. The bathrooms were good and functional. The service at the bar was great and the beer was decently priced. Very communal and social hostel.

If you're looking for a place to spend a couple of nights and have the opportunity to explore the city, it's great. It's in a walking distance to great neighborhoods. Don't expect anything luxurious or whatever, you get what you pay for and that's a great part of the hostel experience. The people were very kind and helpful, I would probably go there again if I come to Valencia again. Could use a little more cleaning, but generally very good

Had a great time there, got to meet people from all over and the bar crawl was good. I was also partially inspired by the signs talking about not being able to make memories from behind a screen and reflected a lot on it. If possible if the owner reads this, could you post those signs? I was didn’t think to take a picture of them but would told see them again!

Overall, it was okay. I was glad that the bathrooms seemed to be kept clean at all times and they were never over-crowded. However, there were quite a number of complaints from our visit. Firstly the beds made way too much noise. Every time one of us tossed around in their beds, the other two were ALWAYS woken up. Secondly, it was very upsetting that we had no control over the air conditioning temperaure in the room, everytime we went to ask the reception to decrease the temperature, it seemed they would misunderstand basic english and increase the temperature instead. Thirdly, the room seems way bigger in the pictures than it actually is. This did not turn out to be a huge issue but was quite a shock when we first saw it. Fourth, during resting hours, works were being carried out in the room right next to ours and this would not let us sleep due to the constant hammering. It was at a very good location which was within walking distance to the city centre. Though it was not a terrible experience, I would not recommend it and I would not personally come to stay once more.

  • 2/5 Rebekah A. 1 year ago on Google
AC doesn't work. They claim you have to ask the reception to turn on the AC, but I saw no evidence that that works. The facilities are fine at best. Climbing up onto the top bunk is like scaling a fence. Plus it's loud, especially since we had to sleep with the windows open. Oh and the beds are far away from the wall with no shelves. So my eye mask fell all the way down to the floor from the top bunk and was stuck behind the person below me's bed.

I have never seen such rude staff asked to put the ac on waited all night for it to come on do no have the deceny to switch on i stayed in the red nest it was much better much politer staff the staff here are arrogant rude and not intrested in the views of others was woke up by a male stroking my hand asked staff please relocate me to another room was told their is no other room asked another staff they replied many rooms are available lift is broken door is hanging of the hinges RED NEST IS THE BEST purple nest is not even capable of switching on the damn ac!!!!

Really nice hostel in the heart of Valencia, big common area and kitchen, free walking tours, modern and spacious rooms. I recommend it for the price! The bathroom was a little bit smelly though :(

  • 3/5 Sophie S. 2 years ago on Google
Alright for a few nights The Hostel is huge and has 5 floors, we had a private double room with a shared bathroom for 3 nights. The colors and the decorations were to be honest quite ugly and the color combinations especially in the staircase almost gave me a headache. The beds were comfortable eventhough they looked quite unstable. Inside the corridor and also in our room it was freezing, and every day when we were out someone opened our window (surely the staff) and didn't close it so when we came back it was always cold. We did have relatively thick blanket, but I definitely recommend warm pyjamas. The fridges were extremely dirty, the rest of the kitchen was ok.
