Unbelievable location, unique Portuguese experience...can't wait to stay again...awesome

I loved this place. Quirky, bright, unique - perched on the cliff above the beach where you can hear the surf and revel in the closeness to the ocean. We were lucky enough to have a poolside villa which was nicely furnished and comfortable. There was plenty of communal space including a glass gazebo by the sea so that even if it was windy or raining, you could enjoy the sea. Staff were super helpful and friendly at all times. Peacocks around the grounds gave the complex an exotic feel and I was astounded by the amount of seating spots - you could always find a place to be away from others if needed. I will tell you that there is no drinking water from the taps but you can get some free of charge from a dispenser a short walk from where our villa was. I imagine that this would be inconvenient for some but we just saw it as part of the experience of staying in such a unique place. As I said, I loved it and I would go back there in a heartbeat.

Edited to remove check in details(OH made the booking) Damp and noisy villa, Our room was damp, our skin and clothes felt wet after being on the bed. Rooms smelt musty. I didn’t unpack any clothes as the wardrobe smelt so musty that it would have transferred to clothes. At night there were woodlouse in the bathroom. One day there was one on the sofa bed too. (Not an issue about bugs more to highlight how damp the villa is) The position of our villa meant one side faced the public beach path and was directly on to an area with a cafe/bar. This meant we couldn’t leave our bedroom window open to air out as anyone could climb in. It was also very noisy at night and first thing in the morning. Possibly if you are in a different villa you would only have noise from the road not the bar. We spoke with a couple who loved their poolside villa, it was musty on the first two days but the position of their villa meant they could open every window air it out. On site there is a small (unmanned) shop for convenience this also closes at 7pm. This is also where you can get free drinking water from so not ideal that it closes so early. I appreciate that they offer the service but before 7 the nearby shops are open. The grounds look beautiful, everything handmade by the owner. It’s like it’s been made for instagram. This also means though that no two steps are the same height. Our villa was at the back so quite a few steps or the option of extremely steep ramps more like slides. If you’re ambulant I wouldn’t recommend it. The kitchen was very basic and again musty. There was a hob, a microwave and fridge, the freezer section of the fridge didn’t work well enough to keep ice lollies frozen. Our boiler provided enough water to either all have 3 minute showers or to do the dishes not both. It broke one evening after 7 so we went one evening and morning without hot water. Not the end of the world but not exactly relaxing. (It was fixed quickly but highlights that the villa was in need of maintenance) The location to the beach is excellent and it’s a short walk into a very nice town. The rooms are a good size. The pool area is lovely. Friendly receptionists. Bit pricey for what we got.

This was our second stay and we truly enjoyed it. The pool area, gardens and views are just amazing. Our kids loved the minigolf. Family run, with great staff and strong focus on environment: garbage recycling but also free filtered water, shared food/toys/books etc from previous guests. Location is just perfect, 10/15min walk from Ericeira by the walk path above the sea, and right in front of the beginners beach for surfing (not recommended for swimming though). Nice hotdog beach bar next door with outside games for kids, perfect for end of the day Fully recommended for a family holidays.
