(Translated by Google) A magnificent view, you can see the Serra de Sintra the Serra da Montejunto, Tagus river. It is only a pity that the access is a little degraded. (Original) Uma vista magnífica, vê se a serra de Sintra a serra da Montejunto, rio Tejo. Só é pena o acesso estar um pouco degradado.

Realize and understand the topology, this place represents a major threat for an ennemy aiming to Lisbon thrue the dominated Tagus valley. Figure out the whole close complex of Forte Novo, Forte Simplicio around Alqueidao and Arruda....all is a masterpiece of thebmilitar engineering named Linhas de Torres. The french invasions....an interesting topic

Much more to see than I expected. The viewing platform with indications of other forts in the First Line is great. Bit of a mission to get there on a bike but well worth the effort. Section of the military road is to be seen too. No charge - it's all open.

This fort, was part of Torres defence lines, during Napoleon's invasion. Awesome observation spot. Well maintained and documented.
